Rennie like Palance was a guy who could look 192 a lot, a 6'3.25 listing wouldn't be unreasonable.

Actually I checked before didn't I and said I agreed it looked about 1.5 diff. I still think taller than 6'3 flat though, you should check him out in a few films if you have time.

Rob, any chance of 6'3.5? I can't see him this low either Gonzalo! Remember in those days a 6 ft 4 listing would have been seen as undesirable for a British actor of the 40s. I think it's quite possible it's a downgrade. See him in The Robe with Victor Mature, easily 2 inches diff.

Just watched The lost world recently and Rennie towered over 1,84 David Hedison. He could look taller tan 1,91

I guess he could be a flat 6'3" although I always got the impression that he was at least near 6'4". May be worthy of a 6'3.25" or 6'3.5" listing.

Well he had me fooled into thinking he was a proper 6'4" Shadow, generally he looked near it to me. Rob might see what I mean after seeing a few of his films. I did get a good look at him in Demetrius yesterday though and in some scenes near the end if Mature was 6'1" range then it's difficult to see much over 6'3".

Marshall, yeah he might have been the full 6 ft 5 actually. I guessed him at a strong 6'4" without googling his height initially.

Desiree, not a great, but worth a watch for height comparisons! Yeah he looked big with Brando and looked about a foot taller than Jean but difficult to tell with the difference so great. Napier was in that film too I think, but I can't recall Rennie and him in a scene together. At times if you watch it you'll spot box tricks from Jean with him in close up scenes! In fairness though quite a few guys from that period like Gary Cooper for a start could look nearer 6'4" than 6'3" with a slender frame. He looked near 6'4" in Phone Call from a Stranger but most of the cast were average at best. I did get a good look at him in Demetrius yesterday though and I thought he looked more 6'3-6'3.5" range, so something in that range might be more accurate.

Rennie looked close to 6' 4" in all the Hollywood TV and movies he did in the 1960's. I'd give him a minimum 6' 3.5". I agree completely with Rob's comment about Mature looking only 6' 1" (maybe a "lift wearer" when it suits him occasionally, like Stewart Granger and Ward Bond?).

There's a good comparison with Victor Mature and William Marshall at 97:17. Depends on whether you view Mature as 6'2 or more 6'1 but I'd say something like 6'4.5 might be a good shout for Marshall.

Don't know if you want to add William Marshall or not, but he's in Demetrius and the Gladiators. Now he definitely looked taller than 6'3!! He looked like a genuine big 6'4"-6'5" guy. He was also in Blacula and Star Trek, worth adding too I think.

At 77 minute range yeah you're right it looks more like 1.5 inch diff , although I think Mature has boot advantage. Rennie at 6'3 and Mature at 6'1.5 I think might be OK. Or perhaps give Rennie a 6'3.25 listing. You can see what I mean about him often looking 6'4" though can't you?

Mmm, not sure, I was buying the 6'4" for Rennie, but he was slim build so.. As I've said quite a lot 6'2" was too high for Mature. I mean check out 19 minutes range with Borgnine!! As I say though I think Borgnine generally looked noticeably taller than 5 ft 9. Perhaps 6'3.5 would be a compromise then. Your call! Mature did edge out Fonda though so I doubt he was under 6'1.5

Rob check out 9 to 12 minutes here. Click Here Twice they do a long shot of him standing with Mature and I think you should be able to see nearer 6'4". He just looked it by his proportions to me. Perhaps the 6'3" was a downgrade for acting purposes?

Thanks Rob, can you also add Désirée, The Robe and Phone Call from a Stranger. Honestly though there's a slim chance of Fred MacMurray being 6'2.75 and this guy only 6'3". A guy like Rennie looked a similar look on screen to guys like Vincent Price. He had Victor Mature by an easy 2 inches in The Robe. When I learned Mature was supposedly 6 ft 2 I thought wow this Rennie guy has to be a strong 6'4". I think 6'3.5" would be more accurate, he just looked too tall in his films IMO to be a flat 6'3", in fact I thought he was one of the more obvious looking proper 6'4 guys from that period. Rennie at 6'3.5" and Mature at 6'1.5 might just about be believable.
