Yes Cobra in many cases they inflate their height, that’s why a 6’7” Hogan was always billed at 6’8” and was referred to as closer to 6’9” by Gorilla Monsoon all the time. Hogan was never listed under that in the WWF until the 90’s when he had shrunk an inch and you now had all these other celebs of known height involved. Also, 6’7” is larger than life at 320 lbs of muscle

@Cobra I agree 100%. Very difficult to nail down. But from pics I’ve seen of him with Ed Leslie when they were young as well as pics of them out of wrestling just hanging by a pool he still looks 6’5.5” to 6’6” peak. I can’t see him under 6’5.5” at peak.
____________________________________________________________________________-

6'5.5" is a good number. I don't think Hogan was ever a full 6'6". I would say closer to 6'5" than 6'6". As I've said before, he wasn't really that much taller than my Grandfather in 1980 who was slightly over 6'4"

Martyn Ford Has a video on YouTube where he was interviewed in Germany he said he was 6’7 not this 6’9 or 6’8 that’s going around but Next to Hogan, Hulk is looking a good 6’4 or a little over that - I swear when he stands up right straighten his legs and holds his head up he can look or be taller.

Young Hogan's height is going to be extremely difficult to gauge, at least once he became a wrestler/got famous.

There was that whole thing about wrestlers needing to appear larger than life so any public appearance needs to be met with scrutiny.

At his peak of fame in the 80's he wore cowboy boots a lot, and who knows if he had any lifts in his wrestling boots.
Alan32080 said on 9/Oct/17
@Ryan11 no way is he 6’4.5” now barefoot. I’m a LEO 20 years in and have been trained to size people up height, weight and build. He might be 6’4” now

Thoughts:
Scott Hall must have been in lifts in that 1996-'97 pic with Gene & Nash? He looks 6'6-5" next to 6'9" to 6'9.25" Nash. Also..peak Lewis was 5'11" barefoot & 6'0" in regular shoes in his prime. Looked spot on 5'10" barefoot in the mid 1980's...5'11"-ish in regular shoes. Hogan 6'5.5" barefoot with Lewis...IMO.

What Hogan looks like next to ~6’8” guys Click Here He's shorter than Troy Aikman, a few inches shorter than Peyton Manning (who looked a little shorter than 6'5" Kobe Bryant) so Hogan's no more than 6'3" these days.

Jerry Lewis’ footwear with Hogan was big (maybe 1.5”) but not as big as with Mr. T from 2 years earlier. Click Here Mr. T looked like he could have been wearing thin-soled boxing shoes and he was still taller than Lewis in 2 inch heels so Lewis was under 5’10” barefoot with Hogan. Lewis in big heels with Hogan looked about 2 inches taller than Mean Gene did next to Hogan.

Dicksock, a peak height Lewis did not look 6’0” with Richard Kiel or Bill Engesser Click Here The guy at the end of the clip (Michael Ross) is supposedly 6'4.5" and looks to have Lewis by a good 6 inches.

Not quite. Those are all screen caps taken from the identical camera angle and with the wrestlers standing in the same spot in the ring – the next best thing to an actual staredown.

Nash was much taller and had a larger frame than Hogan. Nash was certainly as tall there next to Gene Click Here as Andre ever was in ring gear next to Gene, which is b/c they were basically the same height.

Unless he was really around 6’4” Tenta must have been slouching more than it appeared in that video with Gene. He comes out about as he should with Hogan here. Click Here

hulk was about 194-195cm at peak, I'm talking barefoot now. In wrestling gear and cowboy boots, his height is going to vary of course, but I've heard from older retired wrestlers that he was no more than 6'5'' barefoot at peak.

Martyn Ford is 6'8", and he had Hogan by no more than 2 inches in those pictures, both have bald heads and the big difference here is Hogan stood tall next to him for a change. Hogan today still very close to 6'5" and was 6'7" in his 20's no doubt.

Hogan wasn´t more than 6´5.5", so Jerry was 5´9.5" at best.

I doubt Lewis was under 5'10" by 1987. Who knows when that footage was filmed. Hogan could have easily been 6'6" in the late morning/early afternoon.

In the video of Lewis and Hogan I also see 7". I further more see a 1" wrestling boot on Hogan doesn't appear to have lifts just a flat sole and I see a 1.5" to 2" heel on Lewis's dress shoes. I absolutely see a 6'5.5" - 6'6' barefoot Hogan there. He's probably standing in those boots between 6'6.75" - 6'7". A 1" lift doesn't really give you 1" especially if you are a heavier person. Just my observation.

If you look at 1:52/1:53 of the Jerry Lewis clip, you'll see that 5'10.5" Lewis came up to the tip of Hogan's nose when both guys were standing straight. That is about a 7" difference. That would put Hogan at about 6'5.5" in his prime. So once again, we are left with a prime Hogan at 6'5-6'6"...

**************************************************************************************************************************

I too see 7 inches there.
Considering Jerry was already 61yrs there, I´m not so sure about 5´10.5".
6´5" yeah, near 6´6" nope

______________________

Keep in mind that Jerry is only listed as 5'10.5" on this site. He listed 6' everywhere else. He looked 6' in his prime, so he was at least 5'10.5" in the Hogan clip.

Here is a full body shot of him and 5'10" listed Dean Martin: Click Here
Notice how Lewis is about 2" taller, despite having a slight footwear disadvantage. Lewis was kind of a tall guy in his prime.

And to David Banner, Hogan was not getting any 2" from his boots! Maybe 1. And there was pretty exactly 7" between them. That's just a fact. Lewis came up to the bottom of his nose. No way around that being a 7" difference. I've even measured that distance on my own head, and it's about 7". Lewis was 5'10"-5'10.5" in 1987 and Hogan was 6'5"-6'5.5".

Why would you be so naive to believe a wrestler's honest about his height? Wrestlers lie about their height all the time because their height/weight stats are exaggerated and that they want to be precieved as imposing as possible. I guess you believe The Rock when he says he's 6'5" too. 6'7" for Hogan is a joke and anyone who believes he's that tall is deluded.

As RP said, Hogan himself once again repeated his own claim that he was once 6'7, and now is roughly 6'4.5. My own "opinion" is that he meant barefoot, as he has stated before that the 6'7 measurement was indeed barefoot. I really have no reason to doubt the man, because he certainly has nothing to gain by exaggerating, and pretty much laid on the line all of his faults and scars. Maybe his mom (who he previously said measured him) didn't quite measure him correctly, or maybe he was right out of bed. Who knows. But I'd be very comfortable saying he was 6'6 or 6'7 peak, and is now 6'4 ish. The loss doesn't seem to bother him to any degree.

@Alan32080: peak is hard to pin down for him. I would've believed he was 6'4.75-6'5.25 peak maybe 6'5.5-6'6 out of bed. It's also very difficult to determine when and how much height he has actually lost. At times he can look 6'2" range today like Christian said but can also look 6'3" range in few pics. I never see him looking near 6'4 let alone 6'4" range. 6'3" for him would be a best case if his posture is at its best.

It's also hard to tell when based on how he appeared with Dennis Rodman or Charles Barkley. I can agree with Rob on both listings for those two (albeit 1/8-1/4" less for barkley at night as Barkley measured 6'4 5/8 at the olympics but Jordan generally is 2" shorter than rodman so he may have been a full 6'6.5 at his lowest or maybe a flat 199 at night as I can see Jordan as 6'4 3/8 or 1/2" at night).

Stop inflating Roman Reigns to 6'2.5" so that you can make Triple H taller. Reigns is not over 6'2" flat. And the fact that you said there's no evidence in the world that HHH's under 6'2" is pretty bold and audacious, when I can debunk that statement in no time Click Here You're probably the type of guy to inflate the Rock to 6'4" as well so you can make HHH 6'2.75" or something like that, as I've seen a few people do that.

__________________

There is no proof HHH was under 6'2" in his prime. You can't prove something that isn't true. Rock was about 1" taller than HHH as he was 6'3". There are plenty of somewhat recent posts on this page where I say the Rock was 6'3" in his prime and is maybe slightly less now so I don't know where your getting your nonsense opinions. As for Reins, he may be 6'2" and not 6'2.5". You act like there's some big difference between the two. It's pretty much the same height. But he and HHH and essentially the same height with Reins being marginally taller and he probably has a footwear advantage. Also, that is not HHH in his prime. He could very easily be down .5" from his prime considering he's pushing 50. Again, HHH was Goldberg's height in 2003. That should tell you everything you need to know. I dare you to contact anyone who worked with HHH and ask them how tall he is/was. You're type of guy who could be told by 100 people that worked closely with him that he was at least 6'2" and still think you know better. Just like I could show you a million pieces of irrefutable evidence, and you will still deny it. There is no sense in arguing with guys like you.

Here is what I know. Hogan in 1980 was about an inch taller than my Grandfather who was a little over 6'4", so he was likely at least 6'5". Ted Dibiase was pretty much the same height as I was when I was just out of the army, about 6'3" maybe a little more. Lex luger was 1/2" to 1" shorter than me when I was in the Army (the tallest I ever measured in the Army was 6'3 1/4").Shawn Michaels in cowboy boots was maybe 6'1" so probably 5'11" barefoot. Andre the Giant in 1988 looked 6'11" in the late morning. Hacksaw Jim Duggan was about my height with him in hiking boots and me in worn out running shoes, so he was probably 6'2 1/4" barefoot. The Undertaker, Crush, and Mike Rotundo (IRS) were all in the gym the same time as Dibiase, but I wasn't able to stand right next to them. I put Undertaker at the time 6'7", Crush was probably a little over 6'5", and I never was able to get a good read for Rotundo's height, I'm guessing at least 6'1, for sure shorter than Dibiase.

Hogans prime height is really hard to pin down from pictures. I sat down the other day and googled him with other people of known height and his prime in my opinion was between 6'6.5" wake up and 6'5.5" evening. I don't think he was a flat 6'5" because looking at him in person he has a look of a taller man who's body has been put through hell. I honestly could see him at the prime listing of 6'6" but I there are other pictures that show a 6'5.5" evening prime. Hard to say really.

Guys it's not that confusing. Hogan was 6'5"-6'5.5" in his prime and is about 6'3"-6'3.5" now. The pic with 6'2.25" Joey just illustrates how misleading pictures can be. I literally just took pics with my 5'10" friend, and I looked 2" taller for various reasons. Joey was in front of Hogan and that picture proves nothing. Hogan was 1-2" taller than 6'2" Lesnar when Lesnar was on his tip toes. That is a fact. 6'5" Tiny Lister and the 6'6" ring announcer from WM II have both said Hogan was at least 6'5" in his prime. Again, he was very obviously at least 6'5" in his prime and is at least 6'3" now. Game over.

Even My 6'4.25 isn't a full 7/8" that's about .83 (I'm 6'5.08 out of bed). And only when I go to the gym because I'm on my feet and even play ball sometimes. But my normal low in the evening last time I measured was 6'4.33 which is a solid 3/4". Losing 1/4-1/2 is not normal. You lose that just in the morning

I think most healthy men loose 1/4" to 1/2" from 7am to 7pm typically. I'm 3/8" myself. Canson losing 7/8" is a lot! But, being such a tall guy & weight lifter can make a difference.

Factor in the 0.5" footwear advantage??...gives you a 6'2.75" Hulk Hogan. Flair is looking 5'9.75" (if in 1" dress shoes) IMO? Also, is 6'2.25" your morning or evening barefoot height?

I'm on a SWAT Team in Jax Florida as well as a Force reaction team member for the National Guard if Governor issues state of emergency. I was in the Army prior from 1996-2003 in the 82nd Doing 3 combat tours in Iraq, Africa and Afghanistan. I met Hogan around 9:00 - 10:00 at a private firing range where my Tac team goes to train with the Tampa SWAT. Around that time in the morning I am 6'3" barefoot and he was a minimum of 1/2" taller but looks more like 1" and he looked 1" smaller than a 6'5" team member. Honestly he looked closer to his height than mine. My guess is 6'4" but could possibly be 6'3.5" but I doubt it.

I don't understand your line of argument. For as long as I have seen you here, you have been continually referencing a measurement, a measurement we have zero proof even took place. Now you want to ignore the documented NBA measurements that did take place (we know that because there is video of certain measurements taking place).

Everyone in this video comes out their measured height. Wade looks to be in loafers so will have slight footwear disadvantage over everyone else Click Here
Canson said on 25/Aug/17
@Christian: I have to agree with your statement below! Not calling anyone else ignorant but the thoughts that someone downplays their height when they were measured is foolish and just plain stupid!
Canson said on 25/Aug/17
@Rising: agreed but I have to say that warped perception goes into this conversation as well. Christian and I both similar in height with these guys. I can definitively say that Keith bogans or ray Allen either of which would comfortably edge Wade. Never met Ray but Keith is 6'4" legit. If I heard one person tell me Barkley is 6'4 and twelve other say he's 6'6 then i would be compelled to believe you. But the evidence I've posted as well has guys his height or taller saying that he's specifically 6'4-6'5 6'4.5 or 6'4. This as well as the video with chick Hearn where he said it. So the warped perception not to be rude to anyone is because everyone outside of Christian is using pre draft heights and supposed measurements for others and basically inflating Barkley accordingly. Dwayne wade I can say is not as tall as I am. I edged bogans by a hair in person last time I saw him and he is noticeably taller than wade as is Caron butler. Butler is taller than Kobe is and Kobe is taller than Barkley as I proved earlier in the pic. But the most frustrating thing with some of the arguments had here on celebheohjts is objectivity goes out the window with pics when someone wants to make someone taller than they are. The one moment Barkley looks his actual height it's some bs like we can't see the top of their heads or full body or we can't see their shoes etc but if he looks the height people want him to be none of the factors come into play such as in pics that height posted with he and Pique or the pic with Jon Jones that Dicksock posted. The pics are good depending on the circumstances and people's arguments honestly there is never a one size fits all approach here. But to allude to what Christian said I don't see why Barkley would measure 6'4 5/8 at the olympics and 6'4.75 (which he claimed before he went to the olympics on more than one occasion actually in the 80s) and then all of a sudden be 6'5.5. That's is a bit foolish and silly honestly. The 6'5.5 is a shoe height for him which was rounded up to 6'6" just like any other 6'4.5/6'4.75 basketball player
Canson said on 25/Aug/17

Canson said on 25/Aug/17
Vegas, JT's pics Arent better than mine they just support his and rising's and possibly your perspective in Barkley being taller. We all have different opinions on it and when people who meet Barkley describe him as 6'4" range as well I find it silly and hard to believe that he is 6'6. People near him in height aren't gonna be 1.5" or 2" off. The pics that we posted are no different really. I highly doubt Wade being 6'3.75 for starters. Lebron has over 4" on him minimum 4". Lebron i see as a solid 6'7" tops. Wade with Keith Bogans is also shorter noticeably and Bogans I have met and played against as we are a year apart in age he's a legit 6'4". Wade in shoes would Otherwise would be listed 6'5" if he were really that tall being a 2 guard. If you look at wade next to Caron Butler there is more difference than there is with Barkley and I have met butler he is 6'5. Barkley is not as tall as butler. I agree there is 2" between Wade and Barkley just as there are 2" between Kobe and Barkley and why because Wade is not really 6'3.75. He's 6'2.75/6'3 tops. Everyone puts credence on his measurement because it is a pre draft which is reported the same way (via reporters) and is no reported no differently than Barkley's Olympic measurement.
Vegas said on 24/Aug/17

Risings video should have ended the debate. Barkley is almost 2 inches taller than barefoot 6'3 3/4 dwade face to face. Wade was taller than Michael Clarke Duncan and noticeably taller on video than Zach Levi whom Rob has been photographed with and looks roughly 6'3
Rising - 174 cm said on 24/Aug/17
@Christian: By the same token, why would someone Barkley's height(whether he's as tall as I think or you think he's taller than over 99% either way) inflate their height by 3/4"? That actually proves my point, which is all of Barkley's claims are suspect so I believe we should go by how he looks, not by what he says.

@Canson: Fair enough, but I don't think anecdotal evidence is that reliable in many cases either. You've acknowledged many people have a warped perception of height from most people lying so I think that goes to my point that the average person is not like you, me, JT or Christian. Even with our differing opinions I think we're all more height aware than most. If you know somebody personally and trust your judgement then I respect that, but remember, I don't know that person and can't evaluate their judgement either way. I think we have to remember that between you and me, we're only talking a 2 cm difference on a man taller than over 99% of men regardless. JT offers another possible explanation for those who do have a good perception of height estimating Barkley shorter. It could be his pointy head(which makes his eye level equal to a slightly shorter man), Barkley slouching and I'll add Barkley's frame is the opposite of a lanky one, so it could make him seem shorter than if he had say, Conan O'Brien's build.
Canson said on 24/Aug/17
@JT: Barkley is not taller than Jordan. It depends on the pic. There are some where Jordan edges Barkley as well. Also Jordan is 6'4.5 not a legit 6'5. That's Rob's listing for him (he was initially listed at 6'4.75 here until someone made a comment to him and it was a fanboy who did). he was measured 6'4.5 when he was drafted and almost anyone who meets Jordan says he's between 6'4-6'5. Or 6'4 and change. Some even 6'4 or so. A guy measuring 6'4.75 at night especially in higher sneaks will never get guessed under 6'5" by guys around his height
Canson said on 24/Aug/17
@Rising; seeing as how the people on the internet say the same as people I've seen met him (never have heard one person assess him as 6'5.5 or 6'6), I would have to say that they are about as credible as we can get. He isn't even 6'5" and likely was told 6'4.75 at one point but also measured 5/8. He would measure both during the day likely
Canson said on 24/Aug/17
@Christian: I think his 6'5.5 was in shoes. Now I'm not doubting he could wake up that high but I have to believe he dips to 6'4.5 possibly at night too. My thinking is he's 6'5.25 out of bed 6'4.5 at night or could lose the inch as well.

Then it doesn't make sense for a 6'5.5" Barkely to claim 6'4.75" I don't see any reason for him to downplay 3/4 of an inch. Someone who's actually 6'5.5" at their low, won't ever drop to 6'4.75" But someone's who's 6'4.75" at their low, will be about 6'5.5" at morning. This is why I believe his 6'5.5" claim was either made up, or he must've measured around it in the morning.

@JT I don't know about Hogans height back in the late 70's early to mid 80's but from me seeing him earlier this year and spending about a hour around him and chatting with him I can say without a shadow of a doubt he was not under 6'3.5" more like 6'4"
JT said on 23/Aug/17
Alan32080, Hall was billed 6'8" early on (before the Razor Ramon days) so I imagine he and Hogan were pretty close in height back then. You rarely get wrestlers standing perfectly straight right next to one another so these comparisons are just one way to get around that. They don't "prove" anyone's height although they should be pretty close to reality when everything (front and back ring ropes, edge of the ring, audience railings etc.) matches up.

I’d say around 2.5” inch difference Red not factoring in any footwear advantage. Click Here The heels on Hogan’s size 12 boots weren’t too large (probably under one inch) Click Here

Sid and Hogan from the same 1992 match Click Here It looks like around a 2 inch difference.

A few more Gonzalez comparisons with Fred Ottman (a little shorter than Hogan – maybe 6’4” and 375 lbs.?) and Scott Hall Click Here
Aswin MK said on 22/Aug/17
Rob - Don't you think 6 foot 6 is a bit too much for Hogan. For example, if you refer to his staredown against a 6 foot-10 (perhaps less) tall Andre the Giant, he is clearly 5 or more inches shorter than Andre. 6 foot 5 would be the maximum we can give as he was as tall as Jake the Snake Roberts and a couple of inches or 3 shorter than the Undertaker.
Rising - 174 cm said on 22/Aug/17
Barkley sure looks to edge Majerle in JT's photo. They're extremely close in height as far as I can tell, closer than Barkley and Jordan are. I'd guess just a small fraction between them. Certainly less than an inch. Majerle saying he's taller than Barkley doesn't make it so.
Alan32080 said on 22/Aug/17
@JT that's pretty cool with all the people in the pictures for comparison. Hogan and Scott Hall look pretty close but I think Hogan edged him out by 1/2" to 3/4" then and possibly 1" to 1 1/8" in Hogans prime 77-84. Hogan only looked a 1 1/2" under taker. Good pictures. Thank you for sharing.

@Canson: I appreciate your comments about me, but I still think even if not referring to me that making a general statement like ignorant is an unfair one and unnecessary. I think JT and Vegas have certainly supported their opinion on Barkley at least as well as I have, so I think there are people on both sides of the argument that are aware of the pertinent information and have come to their own conclusions fairly. I don't see one photo, particularly one that's not even a full one is sufficient to conclude Barkley isn't as tall as Kobe. With Barkley being as controversial as he is, I've almost stopped posting comparisons unless they're videos or full pics to be more selective with the quality of evidenced. As you know, we simply disagree on the accuracy of random estimates. They're not proof, but they're worth mentioning and people can make up their own minds. I'd need a sample of the person's other estimates to see how well they judge height before I could say how much I consider it and I'd have to read the account myself to see if I believed or not the person claiming to have met Barkley had even met him to begin with. Some estimates will be more credible than others, but short of measuring, it's still all guesswork. In some cases, we agree on the reference we're comparing Barkley to, but disagree on the height difference(Kenny Smith), but in other cases we agree on the height difference and disagree on the reference's height(Mullin). So in some cases, the difference is not from upgrading someone else. Btw, here's the video I took the photo from of Barkley and Wade: Click Here

@Christian: It's not unreasonable to conclude that, in fact, I initially did myself, but claiming a precise figure doesn't make it anything more than what it is. It's still a claim as opposed to a verified fact. You say you believe Barkley "made up" the 6'5.5" claim. It follows that if Barkley has made up one height claim, he could have made up others and having lied about it in the past, any claim of his would have to be viewed as suspect. Barkley said "I claimed to be 6-6 when I played, but I'm only 6-5 1/2" It really doesn't make sense to me to lie in the context. Why still inflate his height while admitting he wasn't quite as tall as listed? Why would Barkley inflate his height after his career to begin with? He's a guy who has repeatedly stressed he isn't as tall as he claims and has even said himself his career is more impressive because of his lack of height. If he knew his height precisely to the quarter inch then why make up something like 6'5.5"? Of course this in itself doesn't prove Barkley is 6'5.5" either. He could have some unknown reason for inflating his height to 6'5.5" that time. Nor does a precise figure mean it comes from somewhere. Kevin Durant claimed recently to be 6'10.75" without shoes and I don't believe that for a second. Durant has said at other times he likes messing with people because they ask him about his height so much. Barkley could be the same way for all we know and picking a precise figure would be the way to do that. I did also hear once that Barkley supposedly claimed 6'5.25" when he was doing play by play for a Kings game in 2007. I don't know if this is true, but we also don't know for sure every height Barkley has ever claimed. That's why I've said consistently, I think this has to be settled by comparing Barkley to others. Barkley looks at least 2 cm taller than Jordan to me in the full photo JT posted and I believe Jordan is 6'4.75"-6'5" so that's just one of many reasons I believe Barkley is about 6'5.5".
Canson said on 20/Aug/17

Then why would Barkley also claim something so precise as 6'4.75"? He must have measured around that mark to claim it. And you never hear him claim 6'5.25" or 6'5.75", so 6'5.5" is something he just made up. A lot of people who inflate their heights sometimes add a half inch, but never a quarter or three quarters of an inch. Like The Rock for example, he once claimed to be 6'4.5", but not once has he ever claimed 6'4.75" or 6'4.25"
Rising - 174 cm said on 17/Aug/17
@Christian: No need to call anyone ignorant, especially since Barkley also claimed 6'5.5" and there's certainly been comparisons posted where he looks this and this includes full comparisons where shoes and ground are visible, including on this very page. It's easy to see why Barkley might downplay his height. He referred to himself as a 6'4" forward and then Jordan as a 6'6" guard in the same sentence then went onto say how doing what he did as a 6'6" forward made him career more impressive. Whether he did downplay his height is another question we obviously differ on, but it's obvious why he might given that quote. Referring to himself as 6'4" and then Jordan as 6'6" in itself is laughable, but it didn't stop Barkley from doing it. The fact Barkley has claimed even 6'4" without adding a fraction shows he has downplayed his height before since nobody thinks he's just 6'4". The lowest anyone seriously tries to argue is 6'4.5". And it wouldn't hurt Barkley at all downplaying his height since he was already a star in the league. Nobody was going to hesitate to give Barkley a contract because he claimed to be an inch shorter than he is. That doesn't apply to established superstars. What Barkley said is irrelevant to how well he played since claiming a lower height wouldn't magically make him shorter. Barkley could have said he was 5'10" in 1992 and it wouldn't have mattered so again, I don't get this point at all.

@Canson: Surely one low, side angle photo where only half their bodies aren't visible doesn't conclusively determine who is taller between them, especially since they're outside so ground is also a factor. Barkley has looked taller with both Jordan and Wade than Kobe did for instance. I do believe Barkley is slightly taller than Kobe, perhaps half an inch.

I give Barkley 6'5.5" barefoot and near 6'7" in shoes. I think peak Hogan has to be somewhere around 6'5", but no way is he as short as 6'2" today. Somewhere around 6'3" these days. Posture can make a big difference, especially when combined with a camera, which can distort reality even without posture. I give Kobe about 6'5" as well. I don't really picture Hogan ever being taller than someone like Kobe either to be honest. I'd think most of Hulk's height loss would be from the late 90s on, but I'd think enough even before that he'd have warranted a peak height had celebheights existed when Hulk was in his early 40s.
Canson said on 17/Aug/17

@Christian: well said! Every bit of that post. And says even more when his own teammates and coaches have also said he's that height. But even after countless people who have played with him have said that people still want to say well it's not proof. Sure what better proof than someone who was around him day in and day out. Not like comparing him to someone who was unmeasured and is simply claiming a number. For all we know the person claiming a height in a pic with him can be two inches shorter than what they claim. Look at Jimmy Kimmel measuring AD in sneaks and saying that's his real height lol. Yes Barkley and MJ are close to 6'6" in sneaks but both around 6'4.5-.75 barefoot

Barkley himself claimed 6'4.75" several times, yet ignorant people still want to believe he's the 6'5.5" or 6'6" or 6'7" nonsense. Why would a basketball player downplay his height especially when every bit of height is crucial for the sport? People here will believe his 6'5.5" and 6'6" claims but ignore his 6'4.75" claims, because they want their favorite celebs to be as tall as possible.
Canson said on 15/Aug/17
@Vegas: if Barkley edged him likely meant Hulk had lost height by that point. I have a hard time telling when he lost height tho because he looked every bit of 6'5" at his peak. Maybe the boots not sure. But I would've had him taller than Barkley (not by much) in his peak maybe edging him by a cm 195.6 vs 194.6
Rising - 174 cm said on 15/Aug/17
I had both Barkley and Hogan at 6'5.5" (peak) but Barkley really does look taller in the comparisons JT and Vegas have posted and Barkley does give a taller impression now that I think of it. And it's really an assumption Barkley measured 6'4 5/8" at the '92 Olympics. There was one list of heoights that knocked 2" off every NBA height except Stockton for some reason who just lost 1", but the only source for that 6'4 5/8" figure was a Sports Illustrated writer who said it was "learned" Barkley was "more like" 6'4 5/8" than 6'6". The writer doesn't say how they "learned" that and does not even say Barkley was 6'4 5/8" exactly, but around that, which could be taken to mean anything in the 6'4" and change range. This writer could have "learned" that from Chuck claiming he was 6'4" and change as he know he has before, or from a mere estimate. There was a 70s article on Robert Redford's height where the writer wound up estimating Redford at 5'9 3/4" and in the early days on this site, it was mistakenly believed Redford was actually measured because of the precise figure and wording. It was later learned that was just the writer's estimate, so regardless of Barkley's actual height, there needs to be something less ambiguous before it can be said he measured that height.

As for Hogan. He's still looked somewhere around 6'3" most of the time I've seen him in recent years, but he's been under 6'4" for quite some time as we can see with David Hasselhoff and Troy Aikman. I may have to rethink his peak height, though. I believe most of the knee surgeries, hip replacement and back surgery were from about '98/'99 on. I'm not sure, Hulk could have been just 6'5" based on Barkley as a reference, but that makes Trump's 6'2" peak height look questionable to say the least.

Again Dicksock: I respect your opinion but disagree with you. Erving for one is 6'5 1/2. Now you are using listed heights to justify. The NBA uses shoe heights. Erving is 6'7" on the roster 6'5 1/2 barefoot and yes he is taller than both Jordan and Barkley.

_________________

Where is your source for Erving's barefoot 6'5.5" measurement? If he were 6'7" in shoes he could have been 6'6.25" barefoot. Most sneakers don't add more than 1". This is especially true for shoes in the 1970s. He was not taller than Jordan in the picture I linked to and that was the best one I could find. Their eye level is identical and the tops of their heads are at the same point. He wasn't really taller than Barkley either. Barkley was several inches taller than him in one of the pictures and he was barely in front of him. If you can't see that, then that tells me everything I need to know. You clearly have no eye for comparing heights. Regarding the Rock comparison, I am baffled how anyone could see less than 3" between them. I am not inflating anyone's height. I am giving you actual listed heights. Hypothetically, even if Erving were 6'5.5", that would make Jordan 6'5.5" and Barkley was around .5" taller than Jordan. There is no realistic argument that can be made that Barkley was under 6'5". I would bet anything that I'm right on this. Again, the Mugshots prove I'm right for a fact so I don't know why I'm even wasting my time with this nonsense. No 6'4.5" guy would look 6'7"-6'8" in a mugshot! Especially when the camera is 100% level with him like it was in the 6'7" shot.

Dicksock, it’s possible Gene lost a little height by the mid 1990s (in his early 50s) but at around 5’8” I doubt too much. Gene’s wearing black dress loafers with Hogan in 1983 and with Barkley in 1995. He had a decent size heel in that one 1980 promo with Andre (but still less than ½ the size of Andre’s heel) but wore smaller heels in the other AWA promos when he and Andre compared shoe sizes.

Here’s Hogan (age 42) in cowboy boots from 1995 standing in the same spot in the ring that Barkley did earlier that evening and again looks shorter even if he fully stretched out. Your evidence is just based on what others have said and assumptions as to what the NBA would list people as. I honestly don't know how you can't see the 4" between him and the Rock. In the second pic, Erving is closer to the camera and still looks less than 1" taller if you factor in his hair. But, Barkley is a little closer int he first pic. That's why he looks taller than Dr. J. Clearly both men were very very close in height.

Barkley edged out Jordan by .5" here: Click Here

Look at the tops of their heads here: Click Here

Barkley is deceptively tall because of the shape of his head. He has an egg shaped head that adds almost an inch to his actual height. He looks 6'5" or so, but is actually 6'6" because of his head. If Barkley were a legit 6'6" barefoot he would've been listed as 6'8" in the NBA no less than 6'7" especially being a power forward and that would make him Dennis Rodman's size almost and likely as tall or taller than reggie miller is when he is a lot shorter than Rodman and also an inch or so shorter than Miller. Jones is listed 6'4 but more likely 6'3" barefoot. Whereas solid 6'2" for the rock makes Barkley around the 194-195 mark as he only has 6-7cm on him taking into account footwear. Other than his these bogus 6'4 5/8" measurement claims, there is no actual evidence that shows him to be anything under 6'6". I doubt most who have just been arrested and are having their mugshot taken really care about standing to their full height (unless they are a wrestler who makes a living based in large part on how large and tall they supposedly are).

I’ve seen pictures and videos of Barkley looking around 4 inches taller than Marcus Allen, who I’ve stood close to and looked around 6’2”.
The supposed Olympics measurement for Barkley and others is probably fake as there’s no reason why they would have to be measured.

Barkley tends to slouch which is why he often looks shorter than he really is.

Hogan looked barely taller than a 6'1.75"-6'2" Brock Lesnar in 2014, and Hogan even had a bit footwear advantage. Click Here I know his posture wasn't the best, but I can't see him at a legit 6'3" 6'2.5" is what I guess him at.

However, he was in Cowboy boots ...most likely a 0.5" footwear advantage on me that day. I could easily accept 5'11.5" barefoot @ age 45 too. And 6'0" peak. There is also a photo of Hart & Savage standing beside of each other from 1986 or
1987...and Savage looks 0.5" taller than Hart. But, once again Savage was in cowboy boos & blue jeans...Hart was in wrestling boots & his Hart Foundation ring gear & leather jacket ...

________________

As I said, he was about 6'1" in cowboy boots and 5'11" barefoot. We've seen Bret and Savage next to each other when both were in ring gear and Hart was taller. Also, I doubt he would have lost any height by 45. If he was barely taller than Bret in cowboy boots, obviously Bret would have been taller than him if both were barefoot. Again, Hart was 6'0" at the most.

I'm just curious how you think he could have been 6'0.5" when he was noticeably shorter than 6' Bret Hart in 1992. I think Savage is one of those guys people want to think was bigger than he was because he had such a larger than life personality. In reality, he was a pretty small wrestler until he turned into Bonesaw Mcgraw... Based on the evidence that I've seen, he was about 5'11" barefoot in his prime and in the 5'10" range in the 2000s.

What did they bill him as? 6'7,6'8?
It's wrestling. Take two or 3 inches off that and that was his peak height.

He is old and his knees and hips are ****ed. So take a couple inches off that and that's how tall he is now.
RONSTER said on 15/Jul/17
Great feedback everyone. What I can tell you from meeting him was that he gets a lot taller when he gets ready to move/walk as he then shifts in to his good side and briefly straightens his knees out. Something we have to keep in mind is that he is bald and I have thick curly hair, so there is another 1/2 inch at least. I agree he stands at just over 6'3" a lot of the time with his knees bent and hunching down, but he is still 6'4" or better if he stood tall. I think it just is uncomfortable for him given both his knees and hips were replaced. Also, he was for sure 3" taller in the 80's when I saw him up close with Andre.

@****sock and @canson: At just under 6'3" I am almost always the tallest person in any room at any given time. At the same time I do come across people randomly that are as tall or taller all the time. What I do find odd is how many people claim their height in shoes. A few guys at my work (that I had all pegged at 5'11" to maybe 6') had their physicals the other day. When I asked them how tall they were all three claimed 6'1". Now I know I am at least 3" taller than these guys, so I said "no way, maybe in your boots". To which they all said yes, they were in their works boots. If I were measured in my work boots I would be 6'4" all day long :)

@Dicksock: legit 6'3 guys are actually very tall. I am 6'4 and a little bit and still say they are very tall or that's 190+ at your lowest. But 6'6" is nearing the extreme category which essentially is 2M.

________________

Maybe people are just taller in the part of the world I live in? I'm about 5'10" out of bed and it seems like most guys are taller than me. Even lots of girls/women I see are 5'7"-5'10". Anytime I go a bar, grocery store, sporting event, restaurant, etc, I see several guys that are at least 6'3". For example, I just went a baseball game and there were dozens of guys that I walked past who were 6'3" or taller. I'm telling you for a fact that 6'3" is not that tall where I live. A guy's height doesn't stand out to me unless he's at least 6'4"-6'6". I think people start getting into "giant" territory when they are 6'9" or above. I've seen maybe a dozen guys in my life who were 6'9"-7" and only one who was maybe 7'2" or something. One of my friends in college was a legit 6'9" basketball player and I saw him almost everyday. One of my best friends was a tad over 6'4" (seen him measured personally) so I know exactly what I'm talking about. 6'3" is tall, but not what I would consider very tall.

This picture is much better. He is about 7" taller than you in the afternoon. I thought he may have been 8" taller if he stood straight, but he is about 7" taller. So if you're 5'8"/5'8.25", Hogan is about 6'3.25" in your second pic. You're not up to his eyes in the first pic either. The very top of your head is at the bottom of his nose. He looks taller next to you in the first pic than the second. I will be a little generous and guess his height as 6'3.5" and his weight as 270 lbs. He's definitely not over 6'4" 295 lbs next to you. What´s your exact height from getting out of bed to late evening?
If I put you at 5´8", I can see a maximum of 6´3.5", is he really able today to stretch his knees out??

btw I know people still training judo after hip replacement and near age 70, no noticable heightloss.
I believe his heightloss comes from his back and not being able to stretch his legs like a healthy man.

2" maximum heightloss, wich is far more than usual.

Go back to the Mid 80's Hogan was clearly a 6'5 maybe 6'6 ? guy, way before hip / knee replacements and a ton of back surgerys plus age... his clams for been 6'7 at one time in his life was not really that far off...

Ronster: Good pic. I would say he looks about 7" taller than you, maybe 8" if he stood to his full height. Taking his posture into consideration, I'd say he's losing about an inch. Assuming you are really 5'8" (not trying to call you a liar), Hogan looks about 6'3" with bad posture and 6'4" if he stood perfectly straight. What time of day was the picture taken in?

As far as his weight goes, it's hard to pinpoint it based on that picture. If I had to guess, I'd say he looks no less than 260 lbs. I honestly doubt he was 295 lbs in that pic. I'll say between 270 and 280.

@JT: agree on Hogan 6'5-6'5.25 tops. May have woke up to 6'6" or at worst 6'5.75 and been between the two at the end of the day in the low 196 range.barkley tho was never 6'6". People I know that have met him say he's my size I myself am 6'4 3/8. Of the three I know one has met him twice and is 6'3" and said Barkley is precisely an inch and a half while the others have all said 6'4/6'5 and measured 6'4 5/8 at the olympics. Reggie Miller is taller than Barkley very clearly on TNT in studio and when they were at the Mayweather Pacquiao fight and he's admitted to being 6'5-6'6 himself (he's also shorter than jalen Rose).
Canson said on 11/Jul/17
@RP: agreed on most!! Barkley is taller than ainge. Ainge however said Barkley was about 1/2" taller. And rMajerle said recently Charles is "maybe 6'5" "probably 6'4". Def not a solid 6'4 but I buy the 6'4 5/8 (weak 6'5) he measured at the olympics as a walking height in the afternoon. Chambers too I definitely agree on I'd have said 6'9" solid easy but he's very well proportioned too. But I never noticed the difference with Miller. Didn't see a lot of them together but I've seen Chambers next to Xavier McDaniel and X admitted to being closer to 6'6". Chambers looked a good amount taller than he was in pics. Looked a very good 3" or so. It's just so strange because he stacks up shorter looking a lot of the time. I mean 6'5"-6'6" is VERY tall.

It's not that tall. I see people all the time that are 6'3"-6'5". Once you start getting to 6'6" and above, that is very tall. Hogan had the exact frame of a big 6'5" guy in his prime. Plus, the 6'6" ring announcer from WM II said Hogan was 6'5"-6'6", 6'5" Tiny Lister said Hogan was 6'5", Steve Austin said he was 6'5"-6'6", Eric Bischoff referred to him as 6'6". I think 6'5"/6'5.5" is fair for his prime and 6'3"/6'3.5" is accurate now. He looks maybe 1.5"-2" shorter now than in his prime.

Here is the picture of myself and Hulk. For reference, I stood as straight and tall as I could, I'm a bit over 5'8" barefoot and our footwear was exactly the same. He was leaning in, and you cannot see it but his knees were bent dropping his height by at least 2 inches. His head also is massive, I have a large size head. As for weight, I am 202lbs, look how tiny I look next to him for those who think he might be less than the 295lbs he says he is, no chance he is anything under 290. I want to see what people say, then I'll post another from the same day with him standing straighter. To me he was easily still over 6'4" barefoot.

Hulk Undertaker Staredown from 2002. Taker looks more than 3 but less than 4" taller.

________________

That should absolute proof of Hogan's height loss. In 1991, Taker was maybe 1.5" taller. I will say in the clip from 2002, Taker had a footwear advantage. He looked about 4" taller, but if you take away the footwear advantage he was about 3" taller; maybe a tad more. This clip shows me that Hogan has not lost any significant height since 2002. He looked roughly the same height in 2013 with Brock that he did with Taker in 2002. He was maybe 6'3.5"-6'4" in 2002. He's still 6'3"-6'3.5" from what I can tell. He was probably 6'5.5" at his tallest. Footwear may have played a factor in him looking taller in his prime though.

@Dicksock: maybe about the interview but my point was a peak Hogan I'd put maybe 6'5" maybe a strong 6'5" tops. I don't think it was lister but can't remember. Maybe it was I was essentially saying he wasn't 6'7" or 6'6

@Alan32080: I can't accurately speak to height today because of his posture but peak I don't see him over 6'5 but

@Canson I'm 6'3" and he was taller than me. 6'3.5" at the lowest but 6'4" is my opinion from up close and sizing him up to another guy who is 6'5".

@Ronster: that is not completely true. A few people here have in fact met the guy and say he's 6'3" today. Now peak is another story he was a surfeit 6'5" and 6'7" in boots as another wrestler who was the same height also described him at his peak.

_____________

You've got that slightly wrong. I'm assuming you're referring to the Tiny Lister interview. He said Hogan was 6'5" barefoot and that he (Tiny) was given boots that made him 6'7". Lister claimed he was 6'7" in those boots to make him taller than Hogan. So Hogan was not 6'7" even in wrestling boots. He did only look very slightly shorter than Lister in the WWF. But in the movie, he was about an inch or so shorter.

Hogan with a 1" footwear advantage looks 4" to 4.5" taller than Ed McMahon. Which would make him 3" to 3.5" taller if both men are barefoot. The question is, how tall was a 60 year old Ed McMahon? I've always heard that he was a legit 6'3" in his prime?? But, probably more like 6'2" at age 59-60.
59 year old Ed McMahon: 6'2"
29 year old Hulk Hogan: 6'5.5"
IMO

...I'm sure this has been covered, but I just re-saw Hogan on a 1982 Tonight Show with Carson. First of all, the guy was a monster, back in the day. He may have had heels, but he was clearly bigger and taller than Ed McMahon, who was what, 6'3 or 6'4, and not skinny. Next to Johnny, Hogan was like a different species of man, size-wise.

@Ronster - I never claimed to have met him. I know 2 different people that have on different occasions and they both guessed around 6'2". I don't know for sure how tall he is as I never have had the pleasure of seeing him in person. Looking forward to the pic

David Banner, as soon as you say he's nothing over 6'2" now claiming you've met him proves you are lying or just cannot judge height at all. It seems the only people who say he is anything under 6'4" today and between 6'6-6'7" peak are the same people who've been doing it for years and have never met him. The main reasons most people get his height wrong is because one they don't take into account his horrible posture and bent knees, and second is his huge head, someone who is 6'3" says he was no taller than me we were eye to eye, but his head is 2" taller than yours! Really not that complicated it hard to see. I will post a picture I have with him again soon to prove my point.

Just looking through old Hogan pics, you can see on all front bicep shots that his hips kick out to the left, looks like postural issues from as far back as 86.

..just watched a Youtube clip of Hogan, and he states that when he first started out, his mom measured him barefoot, at 6'7. Then he went on to say that 30 years of leg drops and all else (curved spine, hip, knee, back surgeries included) brought him to 6'4. It's quite possible that he was down to 6'4 in the late 90's, just based on a curved spine from countless leg drops, and compression of it. I can see someone inflating the truth about what they are now. But why inflate the truth of something he even admits was 3 or more decades ago, and is not something he admits he's close to, now. I believe him (on the 6'7 part). Others can, and will, disagree.

@Dicksock - Lesnar looks at least same height as Hogan on that footage when they are face to face.

________________

You're wrong. Look at the top of their heads and line them up. It's clear Hogan was taller, and Lesnar was tip toeing around trying to look taller. Hogan was about an inch taller and had worse posture. Also, I never said he was much over 6'3". I said about 6'3.5" by the evening. He is for sure at least 6'3" though. He may still measure 6'4" or a tad over out of bed. The average man loses .6" from morning till night.

I agree ****sock, Hogan has lost just under 2 inches from his prime of just over 6'5. He's above 6'3 today in good posture but by how much is debatable.

Some on here believe he'd already lost 2 inches by the early 90's!

Here is Hogan from 2013 with legit 6'5" Joseph Park/Abyss: Click Here

He looks at least 6'3.5" to me.

Here he is with 6'2" Brock Lesnar in 2014: Click Here

Both guys were in sneakers and Lesnar was even tip toeing to try to look taller. Once again Hogan looked 6'3.5".
My guess is that he is legit 6'4" or a tad more out of bed and is about 6'3.5" by the evening. He was probably 6'6" out of bed at his tallest and 6'5/6'5.5" evening. So he's lost a good 1.5-2".

@ David Banner well I met him within the past year and I'm 6'3" dead flat and I know this because my job requires us to take physical and mental exams every 90 days and they measure us barefoot in a hospital gown.
He was taller than me by 1/2" minimum and the impression I got was 1".
Another guy on our SWAT Team is 6'5" and Hogan was from perception only a tad shorter not to visible so 6'2" is not even a option. We asked him his height and he said a little over 6'4" and maybe in shoes he's pretty close to 6'5"
