For being age 64 he looks big in Rob's pics. At least the full 6'1 if not a little more.

Given that, no doubt he peaked at a solid 6'2. He just has a big-guy looking 6'2 frame and proportions.

Poor Robert Downey is barely looking 5'8 next to him even with his lifts. Haha!

I can’t think of a better duet of actors than Samuel L Jackson and John Cusack. I’m watching them in Stephen King’s ‘1408’, and Samuel is trying his utmost to dissuade John from staying in room 1408. Hardly any of the fatalities have actually hit the newspapers, so Samuel fills him in. It’s horrific, but the hotel manager still doesn’t prevent John from wanting to stay there.

Definitely two of my favourite actors - and they work so well together.

I’ve just caught the end of the M Night Shyamalan movie ‘Unbreakable’ and noticed that Samuel must have lost quite a bit of weight in order to play such a frail character. He’s wheelchair bound so we don’t see him standing up.

⭐️ A copy of ‘Reasonable Doubt’ is in my Amazon basket. It was as fabulous as I’d hoped. I don’t know why my TV Guide gave it only 2 stars; I’d give it 4.5 out of 5.

I gave up trusting the star ratings years ago. They vary from critic to critic anyway, and I’ve seen perfectly watchable 1 star films and 5 star ones that I’ve fallen asleep in!

Samuel’s film, Fury, is intensely shocking. I’ve had it in my collection for a while now, yet I hadn’t seen it.

Sam plays a man who’s just been released from prison for killing his best friend - but a gun was being pointed at his head, so it was a case of kill or be killed.

Upon his release, the son of his friend is waiting to stitch him up - in the nastiest ways possible. Despite his past, Samuel is still playing a good egg, but he’s not someone to be messed with!

What sort of selfish idiot would bring snakes aboard a plane? A very thoughtless one, so it isn’t surprising that Samuel’s language is as blue as the snakes are vivid green; believe me, it’s entirely justifiable!

Yesterday night, I watched the Samuel L Jackson film ‘The Man’.

I turned the fart scene back six times, and then found it again after the proceedings were over, in the ‘find a scene’ section. The last occasion I laughed myself into a state of exhaustion was some 8 years ago when I was watching a ‘Jackass’ movie with my boyfriend. This was funnier. Samuel and Eugene Levy stop off for a burger and Eugene, who plays Andy Fidler, warns Samuel that he has a ‘bad reaction’ when he eats meat. Then when they get back into the car, with Samuel doing the driving, Fidler’s stomach starts rumbling. “Are you alright?”
asks a genuinely concerned Sam.

“It won’t last long….” replies Eugene’s Fidler, whose stomach rumbles again, and then he farts! The look on Samuel’s face is priceless, and the reaction as the stench hits his nose has to be one of the most hilarious movie faces I have yet to see. I’d say he’s close to tears, and gets out of the car, pounding up and down, yelling his head off and wafting the air!

I’ve seen Sam in all manner of films, serious and otherwise, and so I’m more than aware that he’s capable of great humour. This film bore it out in no uncertain terms.

The cast, which included Miguel Ferrer and Luke Goss, must have had great fun filming this! Samuel stood out as the tallest member, so still a strong 6ft2.

I saw 187 ages ago but hardly recall it but these kind of stories age in a strange way, with gun violence and schools, it’s even kind of a subgenre like the Prinicipal series with Tom Berenger. I recommend The Sunset Limited with Jackson facing off against Tommy Lee Jones who also directed it, a real acting powerhouse showdown playing complex troubled characters, like to see Jackson stretching along with his well shaded Tarantino. He’s come a long way as a former crack cocaine addict and self described nerd, he’s almost always the coolest guy in a film.

@ Tall Sam - Hi Tall Sam! Indeed it isn't enough of the great Samuel L's films, but I don't think I did a thorough enough research there. I did notice a film of Samuel's which I hadn't seen for ages, and I ordered a copy. It's called '187' and in it, Samuel plays a hardworking and dedicated teacher.

One day in class, he notices 187 written on many pages of one of his class books. That evening, there's a terrible attempt on his life, and he is stabbed multiple times in the back by some cowardly student. (187 for non-Americans is the emergency phone number for homicide).

Over a year later, Samuel, as science teacher Trevor Garfield, bravely returns to the classroom. He meets with hostility straight away. THERE ARE EVEN GANGSTERS IN HIS CLASS. Things go from bad to worse until Mr Garfield is stripped of all his self respect. I won't say how it ends, but it's incredibly sad.

I'd only seen this 1997 movie once before, but I remember going quite cold when I read, 'This story was written by a teacher'. The same happened when I saw it today.

I'd hardly call the students Mr Garfield teaches 'kids', as I was always of the opinion that kids are nice little things. They are young adults, but none are as tall as Samuel's Mr Garfield. He'll have been 49 then and looked very tall, his full 6ft2+, and possibly even nearing 6ft3 in the earlier part of the day.

I highly recommend '187' but be prepared to be shocked and upset.

Funny Miss Sandy Cowell, as 16 films is a relatively small chunk of his filmography. He’s definitely of the Christopher Lee, Michael Caine school of just loving working and making films, which means he’s been in a whole lot of them but doesn’t ensure consistent quality movies but Jackson is always entertaining whatever the films quality.

How frightfully odd! John Cusack has just opened the fridge door for a much-needed drink only to find a life-size Samuel chatting to him in the most unusual fridge set-up I have yet to see! 🤭

The film is 'Room 1408', and the poor Mr Cusack cannot believe a thing he sees; now I'm wondering if Samuel was 'in on it', but he CAN'T have been. He gave John's writer character enough warnings before he gave him the dreaded key!

he could look 189 alot in old movies but the thing that makes me think that he never was mutch over 188 cm is that i the star wars movie revenge of the sith he didnt even look 2 inches taller than hayden that is listed just over 6 feet. I think he looked maybe 187,5 in that movies and that was in 2005 ( filmed in 2004 probably) HE was 55 years old in it. I guess he could have lost a couple mm by then but also nothing. I think 188 flat peak is good listing.

Check him out with Reynolds though. If you have Reynolds at 6’2” he looks 184, if you have Reynolds at 6’1.5” he struggles with 183. Maybe if he stood straight he could stretch to 185, but that is the most he looks. Those pictures are proof that Reynolds could be 6’2”. Crews didn’t have as much height on Samuel.

one thing that makes me think he never was a 189 guy is that alexander skarsgård really looked 9 cm taller. that makes him 185 flat and my 194 cm friend meet alexander skarsgård and said that " he was my height but probably 1 cm shorter. that means that skarsgård is at best 194 but could be only 193 ( i think he can look 194,5 many times) but he cant be if he was at best same height like my friend. if skarsgård is in the middle lets say 193,5 that makes samuel barely 185. he is in good shaoe and have never lost more than max 1 icnh. i think 188 peak is good. bu could pull of 189 many times. remember bakc in 2001-2003 in star wars he looked 1,5 inch taller than hayden. He claims 6'3" Tom and to be honest I used to believe 6'2" peak but now going back and looking...He doesn't seem more than 2 inches taller than Bruce Willis and thats today and over 20 years ago.

Bruce was more 5'11.5"-5'11.75" peak. He also didn't seem that much taller than John Travolta in Pulp Fiction when they had equal posture and the camera angle was not giving advantage. Willis actually made Travolta look sub 6 foot in the promotions for that film and I actually thought John was legit 6'.

He's apparently 1.89 meters, which is a bit over 6'2 and two fifths to be extra pedantic. Hence that's where some claims he's 6'3. I'd say 1.89 on a good day in his youth was plausible and a solid 6'1 now (1.85 m).

What a turn up for the books it was to see this actor play an utter swine in 'A Kind of Murder'🐖. Even though he tends to opt for adult-rated material, it's normally done with a great sense of humour, but that isn't the case in this film. He clearly has deep psychological problems, and we don't get to find out why until the tail end of the story.

Noticeably taller than 5ft11.5/75 Patrick Wilson, I didn't see a single actor actually superior in height to Sam throughout its duration. I reckon he's still well and truly around 6ft1.5, and he's burly with it! How shocking it was to see him lashing out at his skinny little 15-year-old daughter, just because she goes into her new neighbours' garden, and has a bit of a laugh with Kerry Washington! The daughter already has a mind of her own, and so she should do at 15. I was quite disgusted that he should have socked her in that fashion, or indeed in any fashion. One doesn't do that sort of low-down thing, whatever one's size, but in this case, she went flying! 😝🖕

No, I prefer seeing Samuel, one of my favourite actors, playing a light-hearted part! 😁👍

Rob, in terms of Jackson's current height I really think that 186cm is the correct listing for him. I don't think Jackson's loss is typical of a 70-year old man. Samuel often held a loose posture and wore flat shoes, this should be taken into account. Rob, remember that you met personally Ian McDiarmid, Clifotn Collins Jr., Anthony Daniels, Colin Salmon, Alyson Hannigan and Sugar Ray Leonard and Samuel next to them really looked like taller than 6'2" in the past. Rob, you said you've seen many times 6'2.25" as a better number for him, I hope my arguments persuaded you to give him a 1/4 inch upgrade.

I used to be convinced of his 6'3" claim when I was worst at judging heights years ago. I think you could realistically argue standing his best either 6'2" or a smidge over. One movie where he looked taller was Changing Lanes, as he looked to slightly edge William Hurt but he and 6'2.25" Ben Affleck looked more or less even height there.

Jackson looked around 6'2" proportionately, imo, but remember he was only 53 when he looked shorter than Barry Bonds: Click Here Bonds was listed at 6'1" most of his career so there's no reason to believe Barry is taller than 186 cm. Bonds has better posture and perhaps a fraction thicker shoes, but Jackson at a full inch taller doesn't look plausible by 2002. He could have shrunk a fraction by that age, but certainly not an inch so if he was 187 cm there then he was no more than 188 peak. He can now look under 6'1" at times, but that may be his loose posture as he looks at least 6'1" with Denzel.

@Gracian: Many of those photos have numerous flaws such as tilts, bad posture and/or camera advantages for one person. In the case of the Neeson photo, he's bending his knee as Jordan pointed out and he's further from the camera. Michael Madsen isn't even close to standing up well enough in 2 of those photos and Rob has said Madsen is more like 6'1" in person these days and can barely look 6' at times, which I'd guess is because of his posture. Bruce Willis is no taller than 5'11" now and looks about 2" shorter than Jackson there. Rock may or may not have been a full 6'3" by 2007, but he looks more than an inch taller than Jackson and he isn't even close to standing up straight in the 2010 photo.

Just saw "Hitman's Bodyguard (2017)". There were many scenes with Jackson and co-star 6'2 Ryan Reynolds. In all of them, Reynolds looked taller-- probably an inch. (That's allowing for Reynolds' hair and Jackson's baldness.) Also, it appeared that Jackson had to look slightly up to Reynolds when they were facing each other. Plus, Jackson is almost 70yo, and his age may have lost him an inch or so.

I hadn't questioned his height much until recently, but how much of a 53 year old Samuel L. It's been bad news for Colin Farrell, who I did think is a solid 5'9.5" guy as Jackson towered over him looking about 6'2" or so in comparison in S.W.A.T., but then again, I don't remember the difference between Jackson and a 181-182 cm Bruce Willis really being as much as 2.5" in Die Hard With a Vengeance. peak about 188 could look 189 sometimes it ould be either one. i think he was probably a couple mm over 188 at peak maybe 188,3 ore someting like that and now beside skarsgård he looks to be down to maybe 184,6- 185,3

@AlexItaly: I'm unsure about Parsons. I think his thin build and because everyone in TBBT is much shorter it automatically makes him appear much taller than he might actually be. Around 6ft1 is fair but like Rob said you can't totally rule out a tad below/above a mark. I definitely think Bill Murray (peak), Rain Wilson (current), Sam Jackson (current) and Pellegrino could be 186-187cm zone.

Absolutely spot-on with my guess! He is a fine actor with a fabulous sense of humour. I liked him in the '51st State' and playing a much older, bent up old man in 'Django Unchained.' He even accepted a bit-part in the fabulously scary Stephen King film 'Room 1408.' I can't get enough of him!

187cm is too low for his peak. In the 90's looked like a decent 6ft2 range guy, sometimes close to 6ft3. Looked it with 6ft guys
