I’m beginning to think Jamie Foxx is a bit over 5’9”, and maybe Eddie Murphy actually deserves an upgrade to 5’9 1/2”. Jamie Foxx doesn’t appear to be shorter next to Serena Williams, who is wearing high heels. He routinely makes Morgan Freeman, Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, Chris Rock, Gerard Butler, Hugh Jackman, Obama along with other celebrities look shorter. He also holds his own next to measured athletes.

It’s impressive how he routinely doesn’t look under 5’9”, despite standing with average posture most of the time. Maybe Jamie Foxx is being modest with his claim since he’s content with being average.

I found some photos of Jamie Foxx standing next to Jeremy Renner, who appears to be 5’8” next to Rob, and Jamie Foxx surprisingly appears to be 5’9 1/2” next to him considering the hair advantage Renner has. It still doesn’t seem plausible that he’s over 5’9”.

I watched 'Django Unchained' last night and enjoyed it very much. I hadn't seen it for a while as I only have it on Blu-ray and I need a new player.

It's hard and painful to think that America was so racist as late as 1858. I noticed hints of racism in 'The Little House on the Prairie', which appalled me, but that was too 'nice' a programme to show just how awful things were for black slaves. I'm simply playing devil's advocate since I think Jamie is probably 5'9.25" or 176 cm at this point. But there's no indication Don Johnson was wearing lifts there and he and Jamie even seem to have similar thin sneakers. I believe Johnson was most likely 5'9" flat as well based on how he looked on Miami Vice with Edward James Olmos, Philip Michael Thomas and Bruce Willis.

The top of Jamie Foxx’s head is clearly above Samuel’s eye level in that shot if you zoom in, which means the difference in height between both of them is almost certainly no greater than 4” inches. Another factor: Samuel L. Jackson could very well have been standing a strong 6’1” at the time this picture was taken as well.

I wouldn’t rule out 5’9 1/4”. 5’9” flat isn’t outlandish either.

That's just a sample, but there are other examples. I'd actually lean towards 5'9.25" myself. I'm just posting shots where he looks shorter to give a more accurate overall picture. I've not seen him wear anything that looked like clear elevators nor have I seen a shot where his ankle was visible and high enough to suggest lifts. But it's strange that he can look as short as 5'8.5" and as tall as 5'10". The Don Johnson comparison is particularly useful because they're both around 5'9".

From my perspective, 175-176cm is not short but average height, even compared to my 189-190cm frame.

Because the average in my Country is 165cm, they only come up to my chin but 175cm guy come up to around my nose, so they're not as short as people think.

I've stood next to Jamie before and he was noticeably taller than me, but not by a lot. I'm 5'6" (5'7" with shoes) and didn't feel like he had 3 inches on me, so if that's 5'9" in shoes, I'd buy it, but not barefoot though.

I walk on the street, malls or airport in london i don't see an average 5'9.75" range most teenage boys to adult male there and most of the time i easily passby 5'7-5'8 guys and in the US i have seem an average height is more like 5'8 1/2 range and in canada were most likely same as in the UK range.

@Robby Harris: In fairness, I think Tucker is a guy sort of like Tarantino and Samuel L. Jackson who often drops a lot of height with his posture. I can't tell, but he might be bending his knee in that 3rd pic from 2016. But yeah, the difference winds up just 3, maybe 3.5 cm there. I suspect it'd still be more if Tucker straightened up, but not like 2004 so that's more of what I've talked about with Jamie's "growth spurt" the past 5 or so years. Look at him and Taron Egerton. Except Colin isn't 5'10". I know Rob lists him at that, but without heels or lifts, Colin is as much 5'10" as Matt Damon is. Jamie has been shorter than Lopez except when he had those really thick platform sneakers. He did look taller with Tatum, but Tatum has terrible posture and might be shorter than listed because he looks shorter with a lot of people. 5'9.5" is too high. Maybe 5'9.25" for Jamie. If you really do believe Colin is a full 5'10" then yes, Jamie would be taller than 5'9", but what's more likely? Colin being honest about his height AND Jamie downplaying his or Colin at least rounding up a bit and Jamie being honest? Clearly the 2nd option is more likely.

He can look only 1/4 shorter than 5'10 Colin Farrell and he could look over 5'10 with 5'10 George Lopez (prob 5'9 1/2) and with 6'0 1/2 Channing Tatum to be exact look 5'10-ish. I enjoyed my introduction to Jamie in 'Django Unchained', a Tarantino movie which, like 'True Romance', actually had a happy ending, even though there was an awful lot of bloodshed along the way! He looked rather tall next to his beautiful and talented girlfriend, played by the 5ft3 (I think!) Kerry Washington, and it's probably for that reason that I expected to find Jamie to be around 5ft10, but a true 5ft9 is still quite tall, especially next to someone of Kerry's stature.

Jamie is one of the few actors who's listed relatively close to his height, i.e. not exaggerated by 3" like every other person on the face of the earth. I'm only Big G's height (5'6.5"), over 5'7" with shoes, and Jamie was only a bit taller than me. Not 2 inches taller, but definitely an inch, an inch and a half at most. So Mr. Foxx really is 5'8", 5'8.5" max. It's laughable that Taron Egerton is listed at the same height since the difference between him and Foxx is about the same as it was between me and Foxx.

That's not 3". Even in the pic with Jamie you can see her foot is not at enough of an angle. The heel would have to be larger than 3" to give her that much actual height and there's just no way. At most, it's low 2" range for actual height, but even then Jamie is slightly closer to the camera. Snipes is standing straighter, but winds up looking taller and he's at best a weaker 5'9" himself. I don't think it's a coincidence Jamie was looking 5'9" max in both full pics from the same event. That shows he doesn't always look taller even now. I don't know for sure if he wears lifts sometimes, but I do know he didn't grow after 2004 and we know from Jamie himself that he was 5'9" as of 2004 and that's generally what he looked then and for quite a few years after. Sometimes he'll wear thicker sneakers or boots like Timberlands that could give him an advantage without lifts.

Because the camera was captured from more from the top angle from upper body to their head level downward making it odd with long torso shorter legs so any heels from feet look smaller but it isn't. Picture with Wesley Snipes look a little odd that might take some advantage on Snipes side standing. Whether if Foxx slip in a little lift's like an extra 1-2cm lift's in his footwear could be a myth.

I doubt Waltz has lifts at the premiere, though as his shoes look as flat as Jamie's do. I think Jamie likely looked taller because he was the star of the film. I don't remember Leo looking that much taller than Jamie in the film yet Leo was 2"+ taller in the photos I posted of Leo and Jamie both in 0.7" range sneakers, which also suggests Jamie looked taller in the film than at events for the film. @Junior: I've said quite a few times that Jamie can LOOK taller than 5'9" lately. It's more common that the others would be shorter than listed rather than those guys being taller than they claim. Leto could be either 5'9" or 5'9.25", imo. But along with the Jackson pics, I've posted many comparisons where Jamie looks no taller than 5'9" compared to other listings on this site including Waltz(5'7.25"), (5'7.75"), Leno(5'10.5"), DiCaprio(5'11.25"), Willis(5'11"), Tupac(5'9.25"), Don Johnson(5'9.5"), Diddy(5'10") and Ludacris(5'8"). And I think those listings for Johnson, Waltz and possibly DiCaprio and Tupac are a fraction high. Josh Lucas slouches and has about 5-5.5 cm on Jamie at the Stealth premiere: Click Here Click Here Lucas at 5'11.5" and Jamie at 5'9" look right when you consider Lucas is dropping some height with his posture. Assuming their listings are accurate, Jamie can look about 5'10", but I've noticed Butler and especially Tatum drop noticeable height with their posture. Of course, we know Jamie is not 5'10" so that only makes me more suspicious he's started wearing lifts at times the last few years. The question is whether he's a flat 5'9" or if he's 176 cm range. If you look at the 2004 CBS Ray Charles tribute, Jamie struggles to look an inch taller than Tom Cruise and Tom's shoes actually look normal. He was still noticeably shorter than Leno towards the end of Leno's run on The Tonight Show: Click Here Click Here (watch around 35 seconds in the first video and 50 seconds). I don't see Jamie over 5'9" in either video, especially the first since Leno was in the 5'10"-5'10.5" range by then. I totally agree with you that ruling out 5'9 flat is going way too far. Jamie's build doesnt lie, he got one of somebody who is 5'9 range, not close to 5'10. It's possible the times Jamie looks 5'9.5 that he wears like unoticeable half inch lifts. It can boost a flat 5'9 guy to look 177-ish. Maybe he did start wearing lifts in his sneakers. 176 is still a good possibility though.

Of course there's a chance he's a flat 5'9", especially since he claimed 5'9". 176 cm is possible too, but better chance of a flat 5'9" than 5'9.5". It's only been the last 5, maybe 10 years that Foxx has strangely looked taller, but there are plenty of times he doesn't look anything over his claim such as back in the 90's when Tupac looked taller than Foxx if anything. More recently, he didn't look taller than Wesley Snipes, who is really more of a weak 5'9" guy and Don Johnson is another 5'9" guy(possibly 5'8.5" by the time of Django), who could look taller than Foxx at times, though DJ has been said to wear lifts.. Jamie could also look nothing over 5'9" with admitted 170 cm Christoph Waltz, solid 5'11" guys like Bruce Willis(in 2004) and Leo DiCaprio and 5'8" max Ludacris and Kanye West. He's probably 5'9" give or take 1/4", but might have have started wearing lifts since he became more famous.

I'd be surprised if Foxx wasn't 5'9.5" in the morning since he does seem to legitimately be around a legit 5'9". I doubt he'd drop much under it, if at all. I do have some suspicions Tatum could be a bit shorter than people think. I'll have to go check, but I don't think he was more than 6" taller than Jonah Hill, who I believe is 5'6". As for Garfield, well, he could look not much taller than Tom Cruise and especially a 70 year old Robert Redford during appearances for Lions for Lambs. His height varies with Mel Gibson for instance, though that's likely Mel's shoes, but Garfield is definitely taller than Gibson, who I think was and still is 5'9". Somewhere between 5'10"-5'10.5" seems likely for Andrew. His build and proportions make him seem taller.

Honestly i believe foxx is someone hit as high as close to 5'9.5 on a morning medical and came down a flat 175cm at night. Most of his co-star is just overlisted here by 0.5-1'. There is why foxx can apear from all range 5'9.25 to 5'10 but his not even this high. Just 5'9 like justin long

I said 176 for Eddie Murphy, which is basically 5'9.25", which is what Rob lists him so then assuming the differences you cite are correct, Jamie and Justin Long are 5'9", exactly what Rob lists them at as well. I just said that if I had to choose between 5'9" and 5'9.5" for Eddie, I'd go with 5'9", but luckily, I don't have to choose between those 2 and can say he's in between at 5'9.25".

Parker, I agree with you. I usually only base my opinions on video and full pics. I'll note other pics with a grain of salt. As for Jamie, back in 2006, at the Miami Vice LA and UK premieres with both in dress shoes where Jamie looked identical in height to Colin Farrell, who I have at 5'9.5" and I mean quite a few full pics and video of the LA premiere still up. Craig can actually look near 179 cm there, which I think is in the arguable 177-179 range for him, but I'm pretty sure Craig wears lifts and his shoes do a look a bit dodgy there. I posted a pic on his page where he could look only 5'9.5" with Waltz, though I think he's 5'10" on the nose. Jamie does look pretty much exactly 5'9" there, which I think is the best guess for him. I know Rob has Hart at just 5'2" and I do think that's possible. Depending on the lean, Jamie looks 6-7 inches taller. As for Jamie, if you look at the old comments, it was common for him to be guessed 5'8.5" and admittedly, he could look under 5'9" 10+ years ago, but the last few years, Jamie often looks 5'9.5"-5'10", other than with Waltz where no more than 5'9" seems right. I checked tons of premieres of Foxx with Channing Tatum and while Tatum's posture can be problematic, I almost always saw 3" max, often not even. But Tom Cruise always manages to look close to Jamie and I figure he usually looks like a 5'8.5"-5'9" guy with lifts, plus, last year, Sly could look both taller and shorter in dress shoes, which implies they're close. Because of how Jamie looked years ago and because of how he looks recently, I have to leave open a wide range of arguable heights, anywhere from 174-177 cm is reasonable for someone to believe, imo, but with the apparent growth spurt still not explained(I haven't seen evidence he started wearing lifts) then I think Rob is right to list him a flat 5'9"/solid 175 cm range. I do think think there's a better chance of Jamie being 176 cm than Tom Hardy though and I'd say more likely 175-176 for Foxx than 174-175. Foxx and Waltz are some of the very few honest claims of men under 6 feet, imo.

Ive always noticed foxx height is all over the place in regular shoes he looks average to low avg.
In collateral damage great movie he was barely taller than cruise and much taller than ruffalo.
