@Henry

Tenta's measurement was most likely earlier in the day.
Pdoggy said on 21/Jan/19
Hogan had about a half inch on Tenta. Who was just under 6'6.
Canson said on 21/Jan/19
@Sotiris: Tyson is 5’10” in person and if you see with he and Strawberry that’s about how he would look next to a 6’5 guy. Strawberry likely even had a footwear advantage but the Canada angle isn’t perfect either
Canson said on 21/Jan/19
@Henry: it is not widely used in the US. They go with feet an inches. And 198 cm just means he was measured at or near 6’6” at some point in the day. Like I mentioned nobody is that precise with that. Maybe soccer but that’s it. Any other 198cm athlete would just be listed 198 despite over or under. We also don’t know if that’s even barefoot for Tenta but I imagine it is. In addition what you said about GB of World Records is not accurate. They would take 3 measurements 8 hours apart. So that said if he had a 6’6” measurement or near it in the morning, his other two wouldn’t be that high. And Rob doesn’t base it off that and neither does anyone else here as height loss is accelerated in your first hour you’re awake. Rob has said that a good gauge is 5-7 hours after being awake. I’ve seen 7-8 hours by a doctor on the internet and 7-8 is your most consistent of the day as it doesn’t go any lower than that usually. Tenta could be close to 6’6” or even 6’6” flat at a low but could also be 6’5 1/2 if that’s an early morning measurement
RP said on 21/Jan/19
Henry is correct, when scientifically recording someone’s true barefoot height, as The Guinness book of world records does...you take 3 measurements ...one early morning shortly out of bed...another early afternoon ...and a third late evening/night time. And you list the average of the three. I’ve heard conflicting views on here as to how we should list heights on this page. Some say to strictly go with the afternoon height ...others will say go with the absolute evening low height. While a few “like myself” say to use the three measurement average of (morning, noon & night). Rob, what are your thoughts ? When listing these peoples heights, are you going with a three measurement average type guess? Or a single afternoon to evening measurement guess? With some people it could mean as much as a 1/2” difference.
RP said on 21/Jan/19
@ Canson, True.
My opinion on big John Tenta is peak 6’5.75” & by the mid 90’s he was down to a flat 6’5”...maybe even 6’4.75” would be his true afternoon measured height.
berta said on 21/Jan/19
I know i have commented here that i think he is overlisted and coudl have been 196,5-197,5 range peak but looking at videos from when he was very young and beside muhammed ali i think he really could have been 198
Canson said on 20/Jan/19
@RP: I see what you’re saying. I’m thinking the 198cm could just mean that he was measured at or around 6’6” and rounded off. Maybe it was just under like you mentioned simply because measuring on an exact fraction like 1/8 or 1/4 or 1/2 or 1 is not very common. You could have two guys that are around a flat 6’4” yet one may measure 193.1 the other 193.3 and they wont be able to tell
Canson 194 said on 20/Jan/19
@Sotiris: when you’re that young it’s hard to accurately gauge the height of someone over 190cm to be honest. 6’5” at a low is not a common height. Even in my case I’m probably the 2nd or 3rd tallest person in my region with my corporation and I’m not even 6’5”. There’s on guy who works at the main office who is 6’7-6’7.5 I believe. He’s 3” taller than me. Not sure if he’s still there though. I’m “almost 194 cm” at a low. If anything I would be more in line with a 6’4” guy at a low which is why I just say 6’4 since only 1/4” over the mark
Canson said on 20/Jan/19
@Sotiris: I have Gooden as 6’2”. They maybe gave both an inch. Maybe he’s 6’2.5 and they rounded up. Strawberry said 6’5” in the video. But none of this is surprising. Baseball players are overlisted all the time
Henry said on 20/Jan/19
Canson, maybe you don't know this, but ALMOST THE WHOLE WORLD uses The Metric System. Tenta was measured at 198 cm barefoot which is 6'5.953".
His height is often mistranslated to a lower height. Tenta would have been listed Exactly at 6'6" barefoot by the Guinness Book at that time if they took morning, afternoon, and bighttime measurements and averaged them out.
Canson said on 19/Jan/19
@Sotiris: it was definitely 6’5”. Selleck is 1.5” shorter at 6’3.5

@ Juby,
That was his WWF debut. That announcer was the All Time Great & Hall Of Famer, Bruno Sammartino.

In my opinion, excluding boots trick, peack hogan a hair under 6.5 and a weak 6.2 now. Accepting that he really lost so much. But no more than 6.5, 6.6 is wrong in my opinion and also 6'5.5 is. Compare him with Undertaker
Juby said on 17/Jan/19
In his WCW debut (Nov 1979), Hogan was estimated by one of the announcer "(...) must be about 6'5-6'6" - and they like overestimate wrestlers height. I don't think Hogan ever was over 6'5 barefoot.
Canson said on 16/Jan/19
@Sotiris: Strawberry wasnt 6’6”. He was 6’5” by his own admission. Go to 3:00 when Mike Tyson asks him. Tyson is 5’10”. Hogan may not have been in cowboy boots there as the difference isn’t that much between the two pictures. Hogan still looks somewhere around 6’3” today whether it be a full 6’3”, a hair over like 6’3.25 or maybe something slightly under the mark like 6’2 7/8 that isn’t noticeable. Imho he’s at least a full 6’3” however if not a hair over

I’ve never seen anyone in sports measure at a specific figure such as 6’5.95.
Canson said on 14/Jan/19
Hulk Hogan was never 6’7” whether it was late 70s or 80s. That was his boot claim. The most he could’ve been is 6’5.5 but really he fits best as a strong 6’5 in the 6’5.25 area. 6’5.25 at a low will get someone listed at 6’7 all day in sports
RP said on 13/Jan/19
Wasn’t John Tenta a documented 6’5-7/8” from his Sumo Wrestling days in his mid-20’s ? So, still likely 6’5-1/2” to 6’5-3/4” by his mid 30’s in his initial WWF run?

@Timson

Hulk already lost height by the late 80s. He may have been 6’7 in the late 70s/early 80s before he adopted the leg drop as his finisher. By the late 90s and early 2000s he hunched over all the time and I don’t think could have straightened his back if he tried. In the last couple of weeks he seems to be standing pretty straight and looked 6’3.5-6’3.75 on Raw. Spinal fusion surgery at least let’s him stand straight now.
Canson said on 12/Jan/19
@John Samson: well said he rarely stands straight today. I think he’s a 6’3” range guy. Whether half or solid or quarter is debatable. I would also not rule out although a shot in the dark 6’2.75. I would really go with 6’3/6’3.25
Timson said on 12/Jan/19
Wasn’t much taller than 6-4.5 earthquake. 6.5-5. Peak. Bull claim of 6-8. Nowhere near.
Canson said on 8/Jan/19
6’5-6’5.25 in pro sports is good enough for a 6’7 listing once shoes are accounted for

Hogan was a legitimate 6ft6 flat foot back in the early 80s. He may have been 6ft7 in the late 70s. He wrestled Andre in Shea stadium in 1979 and even by the mid 80s he had a lot of wear and tear. If you check out videos of him wrestling in Japan in the early 80s he could actually wrestle a technical style very well but that’s not what the American audience wanted and by the late 80s injuries would prevent that anyway. He was 4-5 inches under Andre.

I’d say he is 6ft3.5 now. He hardly stands straight (it might not even be possible with his back and knees). At the Andre premiere he was photographed with Triple H (peak 6ft3 now 6ft1.5 to 6ft2 on a good day) and was 2 inches taller with similar footwear. If hogan could go back in time and pick a different finisher he may have been able to remain 6ft5 at this age. The leg drop was hell on his spine but it a boot to the face and leg drop is the coolest thing.

You may br right sotiris like i said i could've misjudged his height all i'm saying is he did appear taller than a few of my friends that claim to be 6'2" that's why i said roughly around 6'3" but the more i look at the photo of me and him i'm starting to think that yeah maybe he is 6'2"-6'2.5"
Canson said on 6/Jan/19
i think his poor posture can give off the impression he’s onpy 6’2”. That’s also the case with Undertaker as he gives off a 6’5 impression at times but is still near enough 6’6”. There is approximately a 2-3” difference with the two but because Hogan has lost more height than Taker has. The difference was only about 1.5-2” when they were in their respective primes
Canson said on 6/Jan/19
@Sotiris: the absolute lowest I could give Hogan is the 6’2.75 that Christian did which I don’t completely rule out. That’s not much under 6’3”. I do agree tho Seagal 6’3 today. But Lou I doubt is as tall as Hogan either. Lou doesn’t look over 6’2” or 6’2.25 today imho
Gulgo said on 5/Jan/19
Click Here definitely looking 6'6" here @ 8sec in. I got the chance to meet Hulk at the Fan Expo in Toronto a few years ago. From my estimate he looked to be 6'2.5" to 6'3" though his posture was poor while he posed for pictures I.e. bent knees. He was massive, you have meet him in person to appreciate his size.

In all honesty, if Troy Aikman was only 6'3" in that commercial back then, not even 6'3.5", and Hogan was clearly shorter, there's no way Hogan can be 6'3" now... IMHO :)

Here's 6'3.5" The Hoff (not 6'4") with Lou (2017)... Click Here , Click Here Lou is shorter by at least 1". I'd be willing to give Hogan 6'2.25".

@DanTrojan If you're a 5'6" dude, it's kinda hard to tell a 6'2" guy from 6'3", 6'4", etc., when meeting them.

Hulk Hogan was a legit 6' 7" back in the day. He was billed at 6' 8" and also higher in other businesses. If you think Hogan was anything under 6' 7" then Andre the Giant was only 6' 7" if Hulk Hogan is only 6' 3". Hulk Hogan was a 6' 7" 300lb monster back in the day, and like I said, is about 6' 4" or 6' 3" now.

@Sotiris: I’d put money that Hulk is taller than Lou. Dan Trojan is right Hulk isn’t 6’2. He is 6’3”
Canson said on 3/Jan/19
@Dan Trojan: I do think Lou has lost height however. And probably since rob met him. Doubt he was ever 6’4 but likely 6’3 range peak
Canson said on 3/Jan/19
@Dan trojan: you know my stance on some of the people Sotiris compares to even though I have a lot of respect for Sotiris. However he is right about Ferrigno. Ali Baba is a poster here and is 6’6” himself and stood next to Lou as did another poster or two and he was only 6’2” range. That’s how he looks in many cases. I know Ali esimtarsd 6’2-6’2.5 when he met him

Canson said on 2/Jan/19
@Sotiris: he’s more than a flat 6’3” he would be 6’3 3/8” perhaps if the measurement of 6’3.75 he received since its early morning. Maybe even 6’3.25 but I’ll give him 6’3 3/8. And this is the same type of scenario as with Undertaker in that Hogan doesn’t stand straight. Alan32080 even said that when he met him if he stands straight he could possibly squeeze past 6’3” flat. I wouldn’t be surprised if Jameis is taller but not by that much. It would be a minimal non-noticeable difference. Even if Jameis were actually as tall as 6’3.75 it would put Hogan sub 6’3” which I highly doubt. That’s posture related there

@Sotiris: agreed but Hogan wasn’t at his peak at that stage when that pic was taken. I agree he wasn’t 6’6” maybe out of bed but he was definitely 6’5” range at his peak. As for Winston if he measured 6’3.75 at the combine he’s likely no more than a strong 6’3” guy. Considering we can’t see footwear in that pic and the angle isn’t great in the pic I would expect there to be some disparity. Winston may in fact be taller but wouldn’t surprise if he’s wearing cleats and has an advantage from that. I’d expect a maximum 1cm advantage with Hogan minimum 6’3” Winston 6’3 3/8 max unless he gained a fraction. But that was at Florida State more than likely so he wouldn’t have. Hogan at his angle is not advantaged by the camera

IMO peak Trump was 6’1.75” to 6’2” barefoot & 6’3” in dress shoes. Peak Hogan was barefoot 6’5.25” to 6’5.5” barefoot & 6’7” in cowboy boots.

He can look a full 6'3" with Rob best case, but no more than that. He really looks 6'2.75" in that pic.

@Viper: I’d like to see Hulk standing straight next to Merriman. I could see a 3-4cm advantage if he’s really as low as you saw him and how he looked with Bennett. I think hogan could still be strong 6’3 but no more. Perhaps solid 6’3 no less

True. I'd put Hogan at 6'2.75" today personally but 6'3" or even strong 6'3" is possible as well.
Canson said on 16/Dec/18
@Dream: to your question about who would measure taller between he and Fagerbakke, I would say for sure the latter. Fagerbakke wouldn’t be low or mid 6’5 range (strong 6’5) or even a weak 6’6”. To me He looks like he’s listed here on this site at solid 6’6”. Meaning I could see Bill waking up to 6’7” perhaps or a hair under maybe while Hogan May wake up to 6’6” max. People underestimate how thick his boots were and his overall choices in footwear
Canson said on 16/Dec/18
Foreman didn’t look as much as 3” shorter than Hogan. We need to realize that Hogan wears thick boots as well
Canson said on 16/Dec/18
@Viper: that’s the case with a lot of pics. The celeb may not appear as tall in the pic with him but they typically are

Douglas had a big footwear advantage as well. The Hulkster looks AT LEAST 6'8 1/16" and at least 330 lbs. He actually looks closer to 6'9"

Taker was roughly the same as Sid Justice, and Justice was 2" taller in that Hogan in their staredowns, of course, either might have worn lifts. Lister says Hogan was taller so that's why he wore colossal heels on his boots.

he clearly doesn't , but he looks to have a poor posture and maybe knocked down a bit from his peak

I fully agree with you. 6'3 today seems correct. Peak for me was strong 6'5. Maybe 6'5.5 but more likely 6'5.25. 6'6 just seems a little too much. 6'7? No chance!
Canson said on 15/Dec/18
@PDodgy, Christian, Michael Loughrie and Rob:

Hogan today I wouldn’t argue with. He is around 6’3” or maybe a hair above the mark is possible still like 6’3 1/8”. I think Rob has him listed appropriately for his current.

Peak height is still up for debate. I don’t see him being 6’6” still. He was similar in height with Tiny Lister and was only about 2” shorter than Undertaker who was 6’7 maybe 6’7..25 peak. I guess 6’5.5 is a remote possibility but have a much more difficult time believing he was only an inch shorter than Taker at his peak. I really have him strong 6’5 at best peak as he even came out and said in an article once that he was only 6’5 not 6’7” like the interviewer implied.

There is a pic of him in the early 70s visiting a local restaurant and he physically looks 7-0 with others around him.

@RP: I’d say maybe no less than 6’5 peak for him. Not sold on how much over he is
Canson said on 12/Dec/18
@62B and RP: I think rob is about an inch off at his peak but his current is likely about right. He was Tiny Lister’s height peak but Tiny has retained his well. He’s probably near 2” taller than him today

@Rising: I have heard everything under the sun for Andre. One person tried to tell me he was really 7’4”. Then one said he was only 6’8” I think once. They believed he was 5” taller than a peak Hogan (like the pic suggests) who was only supposed to be 6’3”. He is 6’3 today not peak. I have an employee who’s in his 40s that’s seen Hogan up close and thought he was about my size in the 90s I believe. Likely he had already lost height by then

Peak André 7’0” to 7’0-1/4”
Andre by 1983 6’11-1/2”
Andre by 1987 6’11” with perfect posture
Andre by 1990 6’10-1/2” with perfect posture

___________________________________________________________________--

Mid to late 80's Andre was between 6'10" and 6'11" depending on the time of day if he stood straight in my opinion. His standing around posture was really horrible at that time and could appear shorter.

Does anyone else find it odd that the top Hogan’s foot is 1” higher than Ander’s during the Wrestlmania 3 in ring staredown? Andre’s feet were twice the size as Hogan’s & much thicker! So!.....either Hogan was wearing 1” lifts in his boots? Or, Andre @ 500 lbs sank 1” deeper into the ring mat than Hogan did @ 300 lbs??? Hmmm? Never noticed this before?? No one! I mean no one, in equal footwear in pro wrestling is going to have a thicker foot than André! Especially not what looks to be 0.75” to 1” thicker, from bottom of shoe sole to top of foot.

Big Show's head is tilted up, and his eyes aren't looking straight ahead at the center of the camera lens, so that's why the difference can seem bigger than what it is. But if you go by the top of their heads, it's a textbook 6" difference.

@Sotiris

I can see 6'3.5" for Boomer, but Canson also has a good point about him being solid 6'4". I don't know if he can look as low as 6'3", but Boomer does look max 6'3.5" next to 6'9.5" Big Show, 6'6" Wilder and 6'5" Jenkins, but there are some pics where Boomer looks 6'4". You and Canson both make great points.

@Canson I value your opinion, dude (you, too, Christian) and I wanna believe Boomer is still 6'4", but 6'6" Deontay Wilder had more than 2 inches on him. Even 6'5" Austin Seferian-Jenkins towers over him:

And Boomer at the age & year of that photo was still a hair over 6’4”. So, 6’1-1/2” Sharpe & 6’2-1/2” Cowher are throwing the alignment of this photo way off..IMO. I think Boomer maybe a hair under 6’4” now in 2018...around 6’3-3/4” is my guess.

I still measure at 6’4.25 at a normal days low if not a mm above some days. Here is Brown with Esiason. I think what you’re seeing with Boomer is pics when he has poor posture to be fair. Maybe he had footwear advantage on me but either way he likely isn’t much under 6’4.5 or worst case my height but I think 6’4.5 is fair based on how he also looked with Howie Long who is 6’4”. Boomer isn’t shorter than Brown by 1-1.5”. In some pics he’s still taller and some they’re similar in height whereas others maybe Brown Edges him slightly. Boomer is at very worst still 6’4 range. @Canson: Yeah, when exactly he started losing height is tricky. I think early 90's is most probable and he seems to have lost much of his height that decade. I don't believe he's ever been as short as 6'2" myself. He may look that short at times with bad posture, but I don't think that's ever been his height as he'd measure. Maybe upper 6'2" range(6'2"-6'2.75") at worst, imo. I wonder how much of his height loss coincided with his big weight loss just before and around the early WCW years.
Canson said on 13/Nov/18
Today Hulk may measure similar to a peak George Foreman or peak Larry Holmes but at his peak he was similar with Tiny Lister or Wlad Klitschko

Hulk looked to have a fractional edge on Hall in the NWO meet and greet pictures. His posture on some photos was actually very good, and he looked to be standing almost fully straight at times.

Just shows that he can still look around the 6'4 range when he actually stands properly, in reality I think if measured at military posture he would clear 6'3, but by how much I'm not sure.

Hall still looks around the weaker 6'4 mark these days, an inch down on his peak. I'm waiting for Mr Height Loss to appear and say that Hall is down to 6'1.5.
Canson said on 12/Nov/18
@Rising and RP: one thing that often makes Hulk difficult to gauge may be the fact that it’s heavily debated as to when he began losing his height as well as whether or not he lost and regained like people say. I could see that at one point as Danimal and others have said he was 6’2” at points. I also keyed in on what Alan32080 mentioned about the vertebrae having been removed.
Canson said on 11/Nov/18
@Rising: I will say that he could be the full 6’5.25 at his peak. I think today with normal posture he may be closer to what Alan32080 suggested. While I don’t think 6’3.5 at a low a good 6’3 is as low as I could argue. 6’3.25 is actually arguable still but that’s as much as I could

@RP: Thanks, I saw the A-Team episodes years ago, but didn't remember if he had cowboy boots the entire episodes, but every shot I see his footwear in that seems to be the case: Click Here but I would say they look more like 1.75" heels than 2": Click Here I had thought Belzer looked 6'0"-6'0.5" during his time on Homicide and even Law & Order SVU, but even keeping in mind I have an easier time seeing Peppard a full 6'0" by 1985-86 than most, it's difficult to imagine Belzer taller with the difference in footwear you mention.

@PekaHauhner: I don't think he looks bigger than that moving around the ring and certainly not while taking the polaroid after the match, but if he does, it wouldn't be such a surprise if they used camera angles to make Hulk look more like the nearly 7' Andre the Giant-size character he was supposed to be. But I think it's more that a minimum 6'5" guy, 295 pound guy will look enormous next to a 5'9" max, 163 pound guy.
RP said on 11/Nov/18

Hogan with Peppard was wearing cowboy boots. With Belzer he had on thin sneakers. Belzer was only 6’1” in shoes. More like 6’0” barefoot. Possibly even 5’11-3/4” true barefoot.

Keep scrolling down in the fan pics...there are two pics that’ are full length & show footwear...all three guys are in sneakers. Hogan & Hall are basically dead on in height. One could say that Hall “might” be 0.25” taller...but, that’s it! And yes, Hulk’s fluctuating & failing posture make his height almost impossible to nail down at times. Rob, study these pics...I think Scott Hall needs a 0.5” downgrade ...or Hogan would need a 0.25” to 0.5” up grade. IMO...Hogan 6’3” & Hall 6’3.25”...you could even argue 6’3.5” for both men by judging witn Nash.
IMO:
Hogan Peak: 6’5.5” to 6’5.25”
Current: 6’3”
Hall Peak: 6’5”
Current: 6’3.25”
Nash Peak: 6’9.25” to 6’9.5”
Current: 6’8.5” to 6’8.75”

Here are some photos from the nWo Q&A thing Click Here

If you scroll down to the photos with fans, Hogan and Hall are looking dead even in some photos. Some have Hogan's head higher and some have Hall's
Couldn't say with the footwear. That looked pretty even too.
So Hogan would have to still be about 6'3 if Hall is also 6'3 or 6'4

For Hogan I'd say his peak was between 6'5 and 6'6 but never 6'7. That was just kayfabe as they say. Now he must be about 6'3 after all the injuries and surgery.
With Hogan, his posture has to be taken into account also. I don't think he can straighten his neck back or straighten his knees when he stands.
His body would be longer sole to head when he lies down than how tall he could stand up if he tried.

You can tell he is a bigger person than most when you look at the size of his hands and feet. They are bigger than a normal 6'2-6'3 person.

@Canson: I agree with you that he's about 6'3" today. I don't doubt he can look 6'2" with bad posture, but I'd be surprised if he didn't measure somewhere around 190-191 cm. I'm still somewhat torn on his peak. 6'5.5" has been my guess for a long time, but I also consider the possibility of 6'5"-6'5.25" or same height as Tiny Lister. Hulk generally looked more 6'5" than 6'6" with 5'10.5"-5'11" Mr. T in the mid 80's: Click Here The only time I saw the difference look 7"+ was when Hulk had at least an inch footwear advantage: Click Here I'm in the minority guessing T at 5'11" peak as it is, but Hulk still didn't look 6'6" with him. I'm still somewhat undecided on where he was in the 6'5" range. As I said a while back, I was actually leaning more towards 6'5"-6'5.25" than my usual 6'5.5" guess before seeing the Belzer video again.

@berta: I can agree there were times he looked that such as with Richard Belzer if Belzer's listing was correct. He also looked it as late as 1988 if Trump was indeed a full 6'2", though I don't know if Hulk was wearing his cowboy boots. As for height loss, it can start as early as 30 for some and there's no reason it couldn't start even earlier with enough stress on the spine, joints, bones etc. Hulk Hogan was certainly not your typical man in any way physically. With that said, I believe Hulk was probably at his peak height throughout the entire 80's.

6'5.5" does still look about right if Ed McMahon hadn't lost height by 1982 and I can't see arguing less than a solid 6'5"-6'5.25" minimum for Hulk if that's the case.
Canson said on 1/Nov/18
@Rising: I’ve always been an advocate of the solid or strong 6’5”. He could’ve been a hair over 6’5” in his prime honestly. I would still say he’s 6’3” today as opposed to 6-2

Sometimes in old photos and videos he can really look 6 foot 6. The guy have lost a lot of height. Maybe he even lost his first fraction at the age of 35-40. Keep in mind that he was maybe around 130-135 kg for most of his career and always jumped up in the air and landed on his ass in his finish move. I think even a 20 year old guy that do that could loose height efter a couple years. My guess if i would bet money on his height at peak, would be legit 197 cm
RP said on 30/Oct/18
Even with a 0.75” footwear advantage...hard not to call Hogan a strong 6’5.5” with Ed McMahon on the Johnny Carson Show in 1982
Rising - 174 cm said on 28/Oct/18
@Sotiris: Good pic with Johnny Carson. It does look like Hulk has a typical 1.75" cowboy heel. Rob lists Carson at the 5'10.5" he claimed, but I agree 5'10" flat is probably closer. I don't see more than 6.5" or 7" max there. Hulk might be leaning a bit more dropping some height, but he has at least half an inch footwear advantage.

@Gretz I would have just been entering puberty in the early 80s, so I wouldn't have been all that tall next to them (I was born in 1972). That said, a whole bunch of wrestlers came to my gym back in what was probably 1997. I worked out alongside guys like Tatanka, Savio Vega, Owen Hart, Marc Mero (and Sable). Shawn Michaels showed up later... All of these guys were very short, around 5'10"/5'11". I was actually shocked by how short these guys were. (Even more shocked when Owen Hart died two years later in the manner that he did. First, the Montreal Screwjob, and then that.) There were even 2(?) kids there that I think were Savio Vega's that kept on looking up at me; it was earlier in the day, so I was a minimum of 6'7". I think Edge was there, who, looking back, I initially thought was maybe Triple H. It had to be him b/c he didn't have a lot of mass. The only tall guy there was a guy whose name I had forgotten... Mideon, in construction boots (billed as 6'3"). I guess Edge was around 6'2" (billed as 6'5").

I remember being bummed out that Undertaker wasn't there. That would've been cool. Once, my pals and I were on the highway, on our way to see a WWF show, and a wrestler in the car next to us flicked his cigarette butt right in our direction. What an guy, LOL! It was one of my friend's favorite wreslters, too. I gotta try and remember his name.

Just remembered his name (Ha ha!), w/ a little help from the Internet. He was Road Dogg, part of D-Generation X, which began in 1997. When my pals and I got to the show, some little kids actually asked for my autograph, thinking I was The Rock, I kid you not, b/c I had a similar hairstyle and sunglasses on. Clearly, they thought The Rock was more than 6'3". (When my brother was young and thin, kids would actually ask for his autograph, thinking he was Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey).

I actually caught a glimpse of Wayne Gretzky at a Ritz-Carlton when I was around 10, back in 1982. (I remember being surprised at 6'6" Darryl Strawberry's height when he walked by me when I was maybe 13.)

Have you got up close to any wrestlers over the years...?

Click Here is why it is extremely important to
NOT act as if pro wrestlers like him and others are always the same height till age 40 or 50. Pro Wrestlers heights change much faster and earlier than normal humans.
Hogan with Belzer was SIGNIFICANTLY TALLER than even late 80s Hogan for instance. His spine was already curved enough to cause a noticeable height loss by then. Chris Masters already had a curved spine after 10 years and Hogan being a much heavier man and doing a million leg drops obviously lost much more height in the first 10 years of his career than Masters. Hogan's height loss was obviously slower during the first part of his career and accelerated faster the older he got. Hogan's peak height was before he started wrestling and during his very first wrestling matches. HOGAN'S CONSTANT HEIGHT LOSS FROM THE FIRST DAY HE LACED UP A PAIR OF WRESTLING BOOTS must always be taken into account when looking at photographs and videos.

Dream(5'9.5") said on 11/Oct/18
Actually, I think @Christian and @Canson, and everyone else are right.

Bill Fagerbakke often looks a more solid 6'6" than Hulk Hogan. The difference is that Fagerbakke didn't need to wear thick footwear to prove he's extremely tall. Hogan is still a tall guy, but he was more likely a guy under 6'6".
Canson said on 11/Oct/18
I don’t think he was ever anywhere near 6’6” at a low. However, 6’5” at a low looks very realistic. People underestimate his boots that he wore. He was the same size as Tiny Lister and Lister even said Hogan was 6’5” previously not 6’7” like he claimed
Canson said on 11/Oct/18
@Miko: meaning a normal morning would be 6’5.75 out of bed prob and 6’5 at a low in the afternoon
Rising - 174 cm said on 10/Oct/18
@RP: Yeah, 6'5.5" is still my guess as well. I think I mentioned I was leaning toward 6'5" and the same height as Tiny Lister before, but Hulk looked more than just 3" taller than Trump in the 80's and that Belzer video is a bit difficult to reconcile with a 6'5" flat or less Hulk. With that said, very specific figures like 6'4.75" are always interesting.

@MelvinJones: Those are the figures Hulk claimed and probably told Stallone. Sly was probably too short to tell the difference, especially since Hulk wore cowboy boots to his Rocky 3 audition. Also, since Sly always claimed to be at least 5'10" himself, you'd expect he might upgrade some heights, though he did refer to Franco Columbu as only 5'3". Maybe some hyperbole in both cases. Either way, I can believe Hulk's story about his mother measuring him 6'7", but in his cowboy boots.

@RP. I wouldn't be overly surprised if Hulks peak height turned out to be 6'4 3/4". My personal guess was a peak of 6'5" to 6'5 1/4". 6'5 1/2" to me is still believable but on the high side. I think 6'6" barefoot is out of the question. Like I said in an earlier post he looked close to that with in his early match with Dibiase, but he could have had a shoe advantage.
RP said on 6/Oct/18
Pdoggy,
Hogan is 65 years old, not 67.
And there is a 5 to 1 advantage of evidence that points to a peak physical prime Hulk Hogan being closer to 6’5” than 6’6”. The 6’6.5” guesses are off by at least one inch. I think Hogan’s peak physical prime “average” daily barefoot height from 1979-1989 era was 6’5.5 personally. Something like:
Morning: 6’5.75”
Early afternoon: 6’5.5”
Late evening: 6’5.25”...maybe even 6’5” seeing he weighed over 300 lbs during that era.
I’ll also admit that a close friend of mine in the know...swears Hulk Hogan in the mid to late 1980’s at his physical prime & peak popularity was only 6’4.75” barefoot & 6’6” in his wrestling boots. I’m still sticking with 6’5.5” ...however, I wouldn’t be shocked if My friend why’s in the business claims of 6’4-3/4” peak & 6’6” in wrestling boots was true? He also said Andre was 6’11.5” in the early 1980’s & only 6’10” by the late 1980’s. I’ll reveal his name & job w/the WWE later with his permission. He said Andre’s own personal claims of 7’0.25” were true & Andre was being honest. However, that was his measured height in his thin soled wrestling boots from the early 1970’s. But, his official measured barefoot height back then was only 6’11.5”...we got together with some other buddies & attended the Dolphins vs Raiders football game a couple of weeks ago. So, I finally went full nerd mode on him & asked him all these questions that we chat about on this site. And I’ll eat some crow & say that Sotiris Gravas has been closer on heights than what most on here want to give him credit for. He was pretty much within 1” on everyone he estimated.

I’ve only seen Bill Fagerbakke, and I have to look into Hulk Hogan more. Today, I would say a current Bill Fagerbakke would beat out current Hulk Hogan, easily.

If you look at confirmed 6'5.5" Hillbilly Jim next to Hogan when they are training together,Hogan has a solid inch on him. That is all you need to prove Hogan peaked at 6'6" to 6'6.5".by the way that makes Andre at least 7'0" in 1978 when they first wrestled in the south(i think Hogan was called Sterling Golden than).
______________________________________________-

Do you know who confirmed that Hillbilly was 6'5.5"? I'm pretty confident Hulk was never 6'6". The only time he really looks 6'6" to me is in the early video with him and Dibiase. And that's only because I know a young Dibiase was a solid 6'3". One of the things I don't think I have ever mentioned is that while in the Army going to all those wrestling events. Is that my one room mate was a huge Hulkamaniac and had seen Hogan several times up close. My friend was even so close to rings side for one of the Early Wrestle Manias that he was on camera. My other roommate at the time was a solid 6'6". My roommate who was the Hulkamaniac said Hogans height was pretty much right in-between my 6'3 1/4" and my 6'6" roommate.

Hogan looking very similar with Riddick Bowe a few months ago, who has 6'4.5 (from his amateur years) and 6'5 listings, he's only 51 so height loss will be minimal, he was about 2 inches taller than George Foreman, so nothing under 6'4.

Again this year, with 6'1.5 range HHH (Rob still has him listed at 6'2, but he might have lost a fraction, I won't low-ball him to 6'1 and under like others), Hogan looked around 1.5/2' taller at the Andre event.

With 6'1.5 (6'2 peak) range Sting earlier in the year, standing straight and looking 1.5/2 inches taller.

I'm not saying Hulk is still 6'4 or whatever, but it just shows when he actually straightens himself out, he can still reach 6'3/6'3.5 range in good posture, and if he was 6'2 or even 6'1 (which is trolling), then he must be in some huge lifts to look as tall as he does in the above photos, and given his bad knees & hips, he ain't gonna be in lifts.
Sotiris Gravas said on 30/Sep/18
As for the pic of Hogan with that football player, I just wanted to say that football cleats don't give added height; the studs sink into the ground so as to provide ground-gripping traction.

Canson said on 30/Sep/18
@Alan: could be a matter of getting older too that you’ve lost the morning height. My previous comment wasn’t completely accurate. People will reduce the gap (morning to evening) but you also lose evening height. I know at one stage I was 194 at a low or within a mm now I’m 6’4.25 almost consistently. I’m a few months shy of 37
Canson said on 30/Sep/18
@Alan: that’s kinda what I thought. I’ve heard Rob say that people who are older typically lose morning height (start out lower in the AM) and maintain their low later in the day. I could see Hogan around 6’3 in pics at a low maybe 6’3.25 if he edged you by 1/2”.

The only thing that looks sort of good is his arms - look at Super Star Billy Graham went from 6'4 to 5'11 hogan by the time he is 70 could be 6'1 or 6 feet.

In that picture with the 6'1 nfl guy, it's shot at a high camera angle which makes the people and things standing furthest away look taller than they are. Just look at the grass at Hogan's feet and the grass at the furthest point of the picture. U will notice that the grass in the furthest point of the picture is actually higher than where it is at Hogan's feet. The angle of the photo creates a "Sinking slope" or hill look to it with the hill and everything closer to the camera sinking and being on lower ground. That being said I think Hogan could be 6'2.5 but that's the lowest I'd go with because i recall he was noticeably taller than Brock Lesnar im a segment in 2014 or 15

With 6’1-1/4” James Conner, you’re 100% correct. Nobody in their right mind could argue more than 6’2” for Hogan from those pics.

@Sotiris: I know people who have met Barkley in person and some say he looked closer to 6’4 than 6’5 others saythat the best case is 6’4.5. Either way with Hulk, that is a bad comparison since they aren’t equal. Hulk likely wasn’t as tall as he was peak in their actual pic together. Barkley’s 6’4.5 (he once measured 6’4 5/8) is likely a normal low for him whereas others claim shoes, add vanity inches, and get measured earlier in the day.

@Alan: I can agree he’s prob not 6’2 however and that he just appears shorter in pics due to posture. I remember you mentioned first time you met him that he emulated you and your coworker’s posture and stood taller when he tried

@Alan: you said you wake to 6’3.3. What’s your afternoon height? That’s probably why Rob has him at 6’3. I also wake up to 6’5-6’5 1/8 myself and dip to about 6’4.25-6’4.3 in the afternoon (7-8 hrs). My low if I’m standing for more than 20 minutes at any point is 6’4.25. By mid day I’m probably around 6’4 3/8 if we’re talking 5 hours. You may be down to 6’2 1/2 or 5/8 in the afternoon making Hogan closer to 6’3”. You mentioned you maintain your height better than avg

Flair was 5ft 11in peak
Piper was 6ft peak
Warrior 6ft 1in peak

Some heights written below are... Just crazy. Really crazy.

2018 6ft 3in or just below.

@184guy2

Hogan looked only a half inch taller than The Rock in the early 2000's.

@Sotiris: have to remember Hulk had a fusion. He had vertebrae removed as well but the fusion would generally restore lost height from disc height problems. If he really were 6’5” peak maybe he’s down to 6’3”-6’4 now

@Sotiris: Alan may have thought he was taller than that but to be fair Alan comes down to 6’2.67 from what he said so Hogan being half inch taller puts him closer to 6’3”. Alan even pointed out he has poor posture but when he stood straight he looked over 6’3”. I doubt he’s under 6’3” but doubt any higher than 6’3 or maybe 1/8 over to be honest
Canson said on 26/Sep/18
@RP: I can buy a peak Hogan as 6’5 but no higher. Honestly, maybe 195cm the more I see. And I was one who thought strong 6’5 previously but not now. His 6’6 listing was in shoes imho.

@RP I could be wrong about Spivey and Hall... As for Hogan, I'll be honest, even when I hear myself saying that Hogan is now 6'2", it's hard to believe. That said, here's a recent pic of Hogan (closer to camera) w/ 6'1" James Conner that a gentleman sent me on Twitter... Click Here

Here's another view... Click Here Hogan is now 6'2", max.

@Rob Downgrade..?

Hogan said when he met Andre he's got at least 6 inches on me. 6'6 to 6'7 peak height plus 6"= 7'+ peak.

The transparency of the Downgrades is comical. It's real entertainment.😉

Sotiris, wasn’t Dan Spivey listed @ 6’6” in college football? University of Florida if I’m not mistaken?
It seemed like Hogan was giving everyone’s height in shoes, and not barefoot, other than Ed Leslie @ 6’2-1/2”??
Flair 6’0”..yep in shoes back in the day.
Piper, 6’2”...yep in shoes (6’0.5”) barefoot. Piper himself only claimed 6’1-1/2” when filming The Live!
Hogan is mixed up when saying André was 7’1.5” & 7’4” in his boots. He was actually 7’1.5” in his cowboy boots. And claiming he’s still 6’4” (maybe in sneakers) he’s max 6’3” barefoot now. And saying he was 6’7” in his prime? Only in shoes. 6’5-1/2” max barefoot in his prime...IMO. As for Scott Hall, I can buy him being 6’5” barefoot back in his prime.

He looked at least 6'4 until 2006 with Orton
In WCW he looked a weak 6'5 guy , not 6'4
In WWF 6'5 +

@Alan R Here's Hogan and 6'4" Dusty Wathan (leaning in)... Click Here

Hogan and 74-year-old Charlie Manuel (6'4" peak height)... Click Here ,
from the back... Click Here

According to you, Hogan is still 6'3.5" barefoot...? You'll forgive me if I disagree and laugh for about 5 minutes straight... (No offense.)

Also, if Slick was only 6'3", that means Monsoon was even shorter than I thought:

Nash was 6'9" peak, 6'8" now and Hall was 6'4" peak, around 6'3" now.

Here's 6'5" Dan Spivey next to Scott Hall back in 1985... Click Here Hall actually looks under 6'4" here.

Alan R I believe you that Hogan told you that if he was 6ft 4 then he would have been the same height as Troy Aikman
David Hasselhoff Snoop Dogg which he is clearly shorter If Andre was 7ft 1.5 his Wrestling boots would not make him 7ft 4 even in Cowboy boots he was shorter than Wilt Chamberlain Andre got that 7ft4
listing to make him taller than Kareem Abdul Jabbar who was 7ft 2
