Yeah Sam you could argue 5'6.5 but I don't think he looked as low as 5 ft 6 flat. Near 5 ft 7. There was definitely something not right about him, I'm a good judge of character I think! Something shifty/seedy and thoroughly dislikeable about him. As you said you'd expect the mobster contacts and underworld life outside of show business. Yeah he was overrated for sure, not a patch on Bogie and Cagney.

I agree, Arch the guy seemed like a creep, with a infamous reputation of a supremely arrogant douche who hung around with mobsters without the acting talent to back up his huge ego. Mind-boggling that he was ever considered the equal of Cagney or the superior of Bogart, when both have boatloads more talent and charisma than him. Thank God for Raft's poor career choices, because they led to many of Bogie's best early roles.

With Bogie and Edward G.
Click Here Can look 5 ft 7 but looked 5 ft 6 range on screen enough to be a tad under it.

Rob can you squeeze in Bolero, Invisible Stripes, A Bullet for Joey and Whistle Stop? Looks right, I guess you could argue 5'6.5 too, but I think he looked taller on screen than somebody like Sal Mineo, so weak 5 ft 7. Bogart looked 4 cm taller in They Drive.
