Brian is starring in an episode of Midsomer Murders. He’s playing the mayor and I hope he’s nicer than he was in today’s Classic Coronation Street! He let himself into Audrey’s hair salon and left the taps on. 😝
He’s after her money.
5ft9.

Oh NO! Smelly old creep Richard Hillman has let himself into Audrey’s home to snoop about. Whatever next? After Christmas he really gets out of control. I mean, he’s already taken the lives of two people, and he’s developed a liking for it. 👅 to him!

⭐️ It would be nice to see Brian starring in something new. Only then would we be able to see whether he’s lost any height, because when he’s been on Countdown, he doesn’t stand up!

Nosy Norris Cole, played by Malcolm Hebden, is terrified for Emily Bishop’s safety, and he has every reason to be. He’s told Rita, played by Barbara Knox, who I read peaked at 5ft3 but is much less now, that he fears that Richard Hillman wants Emily dead and is trying to poison her. He’s not wrong, because he does try to murder her to get his hands on her money.
This is getting freakishly creepy! At the end of the episode, which I’m rewatching from yesterday, Hillman threatens Norris to ‘permanently shut him up’. 😞

Richard Hillman was bang out of order in this afternoon’s Classic Coronation Street. He told his fiancée’s daughter’s boyfriend, rebellious Aidan Critchley, that if he maltreats his stepdaughter, he’ll put him in hospital. So what does Aidan do? He pilfers a box of chocolates from the corner shop - only the best! - and presents them to Richard’s fiancée, Gail!
Mr Hillman looks downright chuffed that his ‘little talk’ to the schoolboy has paid dividends, but he gets his just desserts when he’s showing a couple round one of his flats and finds Karen and Steve, who are also interested, exercising in one of his freshly made beds! His face is a picture, but the couple he’s showing round find it funny. Wouldn’t you…..?
😂👌🏼
I’m upping him today to 5ft9.25 from my recent observations and taking an inch from that for today’s height.

I don’t remember Hillman’s act of bravery when he ran into a burning building and carried David to safety. My, were we led up the garden path, or what? 🤨

After this confrontation, Hillman has a go at tiny Gail for not supporting him. The conversation was quite chilling. 🧊
I did originally think Capron could be 5ft10, but then his Street girlfriend is hardly very tall!

It’s Easter 2002 and Hillman has started showing signs of his dark side.
Little David has wiped some files from Hillman’a computer, and he’s absolutely livid. The boy goes round to his Dad and tells him and Dad goes to see him and tell him it was hardly deliberate.

His first victim has been killed, albeit indirectly, but if Hellish Hillman had reported it, he would have been in the clear. Urghhh…. what does he do with Dougie’s body?
He’s too greedy for money - the root to all evil. 😝

What a cheeky, self-righteous stinker!
Hillman is parading his ill-gotten gains as if the world owes him. It DOESN’T!

Richard Hillman has already landed himself in the brown stuff in Classic Coronation Street, and the son of the lady he’s conned is onto him - and very annoyed!

My estimate was 5ft 8.5 in Coronation Street, I would go for 5ft8.75 peak.

Shorter than I thought

I think Brian looks five foot eight now too, Abdul.
To look at him in Classic Coronation Street, it’s quite hard to
swallow that the guy is 55 odd. He looked much younger. Ergo, I can imagine that he’s maintained his height pretty well.
To see the true person, as one can witness on Countdown when he’s in Dictionary Corner with Susie Dent, it’s more than a little refreshing to see what a nice guy he is, and nothing like the conman who turns killer in the Coronation Street episodes of yesteryear. In Grange Hill, wherein Brian played a teacher of the nicest, most dependable variety, his real personality shone through. I enjoyed watching that when I came home from school, in particular vying for the rebellious kids, who livened up the show. Well, they do say it’s more fun to play baddies, and in the case of kids, the naughty ones!

@ Rob - I don’t believe he was ever 5ft10, but he might have been nearly that 3 decades back. I wouldn’t have even fallen for it when he starred in Grange Hill, when he was acting with kids, as they were of senior school age and many of them were quite big!

⭐️ There’s an average height LOSS for an age group but not an average height! That stops in childhood, and even then, it’s rather a large range. ⭐️

Brian is, in fact, 75 years old. He really is doing well on the height front.

Brian is high average for his age group! 👁

That’s fantastic - thank you so much, Rob!
Brian has been playing Richard Hillman in Classic Coronation Street for the past few months and dating Gail for 6 of them. He appeared as lovely Alma’s cousin, played by Amanda Barrie, and when Audrey (Sue Nicholls) meets him at Alma’s funeral, Richard offers her some form of comfort in that she feels close to her late friend. Due to the age difference, it is Audrey’s daughter who falls for him and he is charming and good with her kids. Gail has just found out that Hillman had a previous wife, and she feels hurt that he wasn’t forthcoming with the information. That is happening right now in the Classic version of the popular soap.
Brian has been showing weird signs in his mannerisms just lately, and it’s a shame Gail hasn’t noticed. If I’m correct, his first wife was murdered by Richard, or will be. This is such a stark contrast to the part he played in Grange Hill, wherein he was a really nice and reliable teacher. I’d watch the school drama when I returned from school in my final year, when I was 17/18. I couldn’t believe it when Brian made his debut in Coronation Street; so many ex-pupils of Grange Hill went into EastEnders, including Todd Carty, Susan Tully and Letitia Dean.
With Brian dating Gail, played by the 5ft1.5 Helen Worth, he looks quite tall. I don’t doubt that his peak was 5ft9, and although that’s average, next to Helen and the children, he does appear to be a sizeable man. He doesn’t next to Audrey though! For his height to be 5ft8 nowadays, Brian has faired rather well. He was a grown-up when I was in my late teens, so he has to be around 70 now.
The actor has been in Countdown’s Dictionary Corner with Susie Dent a few times, and we could see that he’s an infinitely nicer guy than the character he played in Coronation Street, and as knowledgeable as the teacher from Grange Hill!
I’m agreeing with 5ft9 for Mr Capron’s peak and 5ft8 for his height today.
Editor Rob
I think he has lost height, but his 5ft 10 claim seems hard to believe.
