In Witness for the Prosecution, John Williams looked 2-2.5 inches taller than Power easily I'd say. Wonderful film, and another good one to gauge Williams' height well from.
I've seen that very good movie many times. John Williams is listed on several sites at 6'1 and one site at 6'2(probably with shoes on),so that would put TP at 5'10.5-5'11. That 5'11 3/4 measurement was undoubtedly with shoes on. I always thought TP was 5'10ish but he may have touched 5'11.

Also, I believe this is Tyrone Power (not his father) with Ward Bond (who many seem to agree was around 6'1.5-6'2) in the movie "The Long Grey Line". Although Ward was in his early 50s and has far looser posture than Power.

@Pete Mullholland - Hard to say because of the angle, but since Ward Bond's listed as being 6'2 here, then perhaps his father was around the 6'1 listing, maybe 6'1.5 or 6'2 at the very most.
Assuming his son was in the 5'11 range, I'd imagine he probably could've measured close to 6ft in the morning.

The photo below was said to have been taken in 1931, and unfortunately Tyrone Power's father would die near the end of the year, at age 62. Tyrone Power was 17 when this photo was taken.
Tyrone Sr. is listed @ 6’1. I remember reading about him in the past, and 6’1 was mentioned. I think 6’3 is too much for him.

@Arch Stanton - Yeah I was kind of surprised about George Clooney, but I know his surname is Irish. JFK Jr's mother was Jackie Kennedy who had French origins, hence her birth surname "Bouvier". After JFK's death she re-married and took her husband's surname "Onassis".
I always thought Jimmy Garoppolo was pretty good looking. He's of Italian and Central European background, and raised in the Midwest just like Tyrone (although Jimmy is from Illinois and Tyrone was from Ohio). He does look like a taller version of Tyrone, and I think he's closer to Tyrone's own fathers height, who like @Rampage mentioned, was probably in the 6'2-3 range.
I've heard an article mentioning that Tyrone might've been closer to 5'10, but I don't know if he was that short!
Arch Stanton said on 4/Sep/20
Wow, I thought Clooney's dad was from a "Stephanappolis" type name Greek family, I really thought he was of Greek descent. David Copperfield and JFK Jr also have the same look, JFK jr was Greek on his mum's side. That Garoppolo fella looks fully blooded Sicilian or Greek, does look a lot like Tyrone did but taller and more athletic of course. To be a quarterback on a major NFL team you really have to be an amazing athlete. Lucky b**tard.

Damien said on 22/May/16
Lots of guys claim the height they are with shoes (one inch heel) on. Technically a naturally 5'11" person is 6' with shoes on. From his films, though, it is fairly obvious that Ty was in the ballpark of 5'11". Since everyone shrinks daily because of gravity, he was probably 5'10.5" at the end of the day, hence Patricia Neal's comment, it makes no sense to tack on a half inch height unless it's accurate. That could also explain the 5'11.5" on his 1950s passport, it was probably a night height measurement in shoes.

Yes, Caesar was in the original (and superior) Ocean's 11. And he was great in it. But to my inowledge he was never in any shot where he stood next to Sinatra or Dean Martin. He did tower over Peter Lawford who I believe was 5'11". But Romero was dwarfed by 6'5" Robert Foulk.

I commented further down, but I recently talked with his stand-in, Mike Steckler, who himself is 6' and who verified Power's height as 6'. Damien said on 24/Feb/07
I just had a thought, if he was the height you have him at, why did his piloting license indicate that he was 5'10", if he was 5'10.5" then it was just a matter of rounding, also from In Old Chicago, the man who played the Senator was 5'11.5", Ty is shorter by at least an inch.
Damien said on 23/Feb/07
Just saw In Old Chicago, Tyrone was a good inch and a half to two inches shorter than 6' Andy Devine, just as I thought, at best 5'11", most likely 5'10" or 5'10.5".

I just saw Witness to the Prosecution last night, or really this morning, Ty's height was always changing. He was sometimes as tall as 6' Henry Danell but was usually more 5'10" ish. My guess, 5'10" maybe 5'11", no more. But back to WFTP, Marlene Dietrich, who was 5'6" looked almost the same height as him at the end, granted she was wearing heels. Also in The Danny Duschen Story (pardon my spelling), Kim Novak was only a little shorter than Ty, again in heels and 5'6". I really doubt he was more than 5'11".

I think I can answer this one - sorry, but I just found this thread.
When he was on What's My Line as the mystery guest, Dorothy Kilgallen said, are you over 6 feet, and he answered no. When Arlene Francis eventually guessed Tyrone, Dorothy (who had actually gone out with him years earlier was upset). "Why didn't you say yes when I asked if you were six feet?" she asked. Daly said, "No, you asked if he was OVER 6 feet. So that would indicate he was six feet.
I own a tuxedo coat of his that was made in Italy in 1949, and it says 43 inside - it fits a friend of mine perfectly, and he is ovber 6 feet. Hope this helps somehow.

Photos of him post 1960 or so seem rare although Richard Lamparski had a late 60s picture of him in one of his books. I've read he lost his hearing at some point which may account for why he stayed out of the limelight the last couple decades of his life.
Although he picked a great role to go out on (Doc in Mr. Roberts). I was surprised that even then he wasn't much shorter than Fonda. 5'11" seems right for him.

And Power wore normal shoes with one-inch heels. No lift and no ramps. I'd say he was at least 5'11".
Frank2 said on 22/Mar/06
What's interesting about Power is that he never wore lifts in his non-costume films and he was usually taller than actors who I definitely know were 5'10" such as Dana Andrews and Don Ameche. In the film Crash Dive, Power was at least an inch taller that Andrews in every scene, long shots and close up's. Power wasn't that much shorter than 6'1" Marty Milner in The Long Gray Line. In that same film Power was only a couple of inches shorter than 6'2" Ward Bond. There's a scene where they're in a boxing ring and in all the angles Power isn't that short next to Bond. Maybe for once the studio publicity department was correct when they listed him as 6'. I'd like to know what his medical records show when he entered the Marines during WW II. Power became a combat pilot. The studio desperately tried to keep him in the states training fighter pilots, but Power was able to get overseas and did fly at least a couple of dangerous missions. He was a private pilot in civilian life and enjoyed flying. He was a big star, one of the biggest and unlike today's pretty boys, he could act and had at his disposal a great, stage-trained voice. That voice was sadly silenced in 1958 when he suffered a massive heart attack while filming a strenuous sword fight sequence with George Sanders in Solomon and Sheba. He was just 44 years old. Tragic. Power was replaced in that film by a much shorter actor, Yul Brynner(5'7"). In the editing process shots of Power were retained in most of the long shots and he can clearly be spotted if you watch the film closely.
