American actress, best remembered for roles in films such as Sabotage, City Streets, Fury, Beetlejuice, Blood on the Sun, Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams, Behold my Wife, The Trail of the Lonesome Pine, You and Me and Used People. In a 1935 article in the Salt Lake Tribune it describe her as
"5 feet 3 inches" with a weight of
"105 pounds". Another article mentioned her as standing 5ft 3.5 inches, weighing 115 pounds, with shoe size 4.5B and vital statistics of: Bust 35.5 inches, Waist 25 inches and Hips 35.5 inches.
I'm five feet three inches, but my heels are responsible for the inches!...All my life I've wanted to be tall.

Sylvia's career spanned over 70 years. She'll have been 67-68 when she appeared in 'Damien - Omen II', so is bound to have lost quite a bit of height by then, though she was still very elegant, and certainly NOT a senile old woman, as Lee Grant put it, but a very knowledgeable one.
Height: 5ft2.5, though at the time she made the second Omen film, she looked no more than 5ft1, tops.
RIP Sylvia Sidney 🕯️ XXX 💐

Even from her brief appearance at the beginning of 'Damien Omen II', you can still see that Sylvia was once a very beautiful and elegant woman.

I just found her written up as 162cm. As I am just starting to watch 'Damien Omen II', in which she stars as the lovely and intuitive Aunt Marion, I am only going to be seeing the older version of this classic actress, so I will agree with 5ft2.5!

Rob can you squeeze in Summer Wishes, Winter Dreams, she got lots of Best Actress noms for that film, her only acclaimed film performance critically really. I know her best from Sabotage and Fury, yeah I thought 5'2 range. Out of curiosity what films have you been watching of late Rob? I'm pretty sure I requested her and Rhonda a while back but can't see any recent requests so I'd guess you saw some films with them in.

Great find!! You only live once was another great movie she was in. Simply a masterpiece.
She looked in the 1`60 area.
Thanks for the new additions, Editor Rob.

Extremely attractive in her younger years, but then I see her in her Tim Burton roles, smoking can beat you up but she still had charisma and charm. Rob, would you consider replacing Mars Attacks! with Beetlejuice, a better movie IMO and I believe a better known role for her.
Editor Rob
yeah I'd say it was probably the better movie.
