Never over 6 foot. Another height liar. 6-2 is laughable.

Steve Austin was probably never taller than 6’1.25”, and he might be 5’11.75” today.

I’d give him 6’0.5” and then he rounds up to 6’1”
He’s probably fluctuates between 245-265lbs

He looks 6’2” on his broken skull ranch show. Or maybe he’s just with average height people of 5’9”.

I don’t think he’s ever dipped below 6’0”.

You should degrade him 1 inch.

I think a solid 6'1 in his prime. Not sure if quite 6'1.25 (possibly at lunchtime) but don't think he dipped below 6'1.

@Tree: If we are going to compare him during different points in his career, maybe at about post 2001 when he came back after a year plus to sort out his long-standing neck injury, sustained in the late 90s. Not sure if he lost any noticeable height during that period.
tree said on 25/Sep/18
Its hard to tell from that clip with Sting the exact difference but Austin never looked any taller than 186.0 in his entire wrestling career.
I don't see any point in trying to find things from the early 90's,he became a huge star in 96,he was only 31 to young to loose height.
In 96 he looked 6ft1 with Bret Hart Click Here
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 11/Sep/18
No he looks maybe at most 1in but Sting most likely cleared 6ft2 in the 90’s (Rob even argues 6ft2½). With that I give a young Austin

Out of bed: 6ft2⅛(188.3cm)
Before bed: 6ft1⅜(186.4cm)

Watch old matches of him opposite William Regal. Similar situation

That's the very most I can see him next to John Cena. I think Austin was a bit taller than that at peak but lost a bit of height. Maybe 6'0.75" peak.

Rob you think Austin knows about height fluctuating from morning to evening?
That would explain why he thinks he was 6ft2,then 6ft1 and how he got a 6ft1.5 measurement, somebody should tell him lol
Editor Rob
Some measuring devices might also produce variation.

He might know about fluctuating - generally this is something I have noticed, at least half the folk I've measured have knew about being taller in the morning.

Nah Steve Austin is not this height, that’s triple h’s height and he dwarfs Austin quite a bit. Even in 2003 when him and michaels were in a segment he looked about a inch or so taller. I would say this is his peak, but actuality 1.82 - 1.84 max. Shoes give him a bit of height so yea that’s my take.

Seeing ring-gear doesn't show us what's inside... Matt bloom e.g who played Albert/a-train looks alot shorter in person out of ring gear than on tv

Have you taken any pictures alongside any one of them? That you can share and post for us? Other then some random pic you found online? Even with their "ring-gear on," as you indicated, one can still see the kind of footwear they're wearing. This isn't necessarily the case for that picture you've provided. How can that be an equal comparison?

Rob... How long is this travesty going to go on for?

In the old wrestling pic with Jake and Austin, Jake's heels are at least double that of Austin's. In the recent picture, there is about a 3.5-4 inch difference in height. Austin could have shrunk a bit or Jake could have the footwear advantage which is likely. I met Jake last year and he was wearing snakeskin boots with at least a 2 inch heel and I've seen Austin wearing sneakers a lot these days.

@Rampage: Christian puts in work. he looks objectively and uses height charts and puts attention to detail. he’s like me in that he will assess lower than Rob has them listed but because most are a bit higher than they should be esp if rob doesn’t meet them in person even some he has met are still high but to be fair from a 5’8 vantage point assessing someone some 8-10” taller isn’t easy. Tyler mane is an example had him 6’8 after he met him then Ali Baba pics and mane claiming 6’7 were what made the decision to bring him down to 6’7”. Danimal while I respect him He is inconsistent. Robbins claimed 6’4 1/2 and is shorter than stern even today as well as Barkley being physically measured 6’4 5/8. I know two people who’ve met Barkley and both say he’s 6’4-6’5 one is 6’3 the other 6’2 and was a NBA Scout (my former AAU coach as a matter of fact). Yet he swears Barkley and stern downplay their heights. I do agree with Danimal tho on many of his other assessments such as Will Smith 6’1 and Rock being 6’2 today as the same 6’3” friend that met Barkley has stood next to The Rock and said he’s an inch shorter than he is.

Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 6/Nov/17
Christian you habitually shave at least half an inch off everyone without providing a shred of evidence. Danimal however goes to both extremes. He thinks Tim Robbins is 6ft7 and that Scott Bakula was 6ft2. I could go on.....they're blanket statements. You think Austin was 6ft1, that's fine. I on the other hand look at his claims then look at how he fairs with other guys then and now...to me he looks 6ft1 now and in the 90's was a bit taller.
Editor Rob
surely that 2 was a slip up, Bakula has only ever claimed to be 6 foot.
miko said on 29/Oct/17
Steve is a tough one at times. I think its fair to say he's around the 6'1 mark standing tall, not sure he's over it though.

After he had neck issues he had the tendancy of standing badly with his neck tilted which didn't help him height wise but when he did stand up tall he was clearly well over 6 foot, and held his own with most of the 6'2 WWE guys. Even in his staredown with 6'0 Bret Hart he was standing poorly and was still taller.
Canson said on 29/Oct/17
@Christian: this one is tough. I’m stuck myself. Maybe a peak height was 6’1 or near it or he could’ve been claiming shoes to say 6’1.5 and rounded up to 6’2 from that.

I know, people exaggerate the amount of height loss that wrestlers experience when they have surgeries, as an excuse so they can make them as tall as they want them to be. Austin was never anywhere near 6'2". He was always no more than a flat 6'1" and today perhaps 6'0.75", or even 6'0.5" like RR said.

Austin talked about his neckfusion, that they used his own bonematerial and how it gets the space between the cervicals back...

For example, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson always looked 4 cm taller (but not more than 5 cm) and it gives me the idea that both were typical 6'1 and 6'3 guys at their peak.
And since now they are both slightly lost in growth, then 189-190 cm (6'2.5-6'2.75) for The Rock and 184-185 cm (6'0.5-6'0.75) for Stone Cold is most likely.

Rude definitely looked 6'4" next to Steve Austin. He was without question at least 3.5" taller. Honestly, I think Austin was more like 6'0.5" and looked taller in his boots that he'd wear in WWE when he was not in his tights. But, Rude claimed 6'4" and he looked almost 4" taller than Austin. Also, Austin didn't look much taller than 5'11" Brother Love or 5'9" Ricky Steamboat. I think Austin's height should be lowered to 6'0.5". There is just no way in the world he was 6'1.25" next to 6'3"-6'4" Rick Rude. That's not even up for debate.

His 6'1 claim is fine for a peak height but I don't think he was ever taller than that. Struggling to look 6'1 with Hogan, so yeah, probably lost a fraction and can at times appear nearer 6'0 in some cases. Its possible Austin went with both heights if he measured 6'2 morning and 6'1 night, hence his 6'1.5 claim.

272 lbs is pretty believable for Steve circa 2003-2004. He was MASSIVE back then. A lot of people simply don't understand that muscles plus fat weigh much more than they can imagine. As a co-general manager of Raw, Steve (being out of shape) could easily hit 270 pound mark. To me he looked even heavier than Goldberg during their "friendship" angle
Danimal said on 17/Feb/17
6'1.5" in shoes. No way is he that height barefoot. No way. 6'0" barefoot MAX.
Here he is in NORMAL dress shoes (not his usual clunky boots) next to a PRE-shrunken Vince McMahon in 1998:

Vince still taller than him when Stone Cold was in his clunky boots:

haha 272lbs?!?
Go look at guys that are 250 and have low body fat, they are monsters at 250 and right around the 6' mark.
He's got a good build but he's also got a good 30lbs of fat on him it shows in his stomach but with a lot of muscle, it just isn't obvious. I'd bet his weight at around 230-240lbs.
Hunter McIntyre is listed as 6'2 and in shots you can see he's obvious several inches taller than Steve. Hunter is definitely hitting 6'2 there's no doubt in my mind.
Steve Austin is probably dead on 5'11 same as myself and just like myself, has had spinal injuries. I used to be just a quarter inch shy of 6'1 before wrecking my back. Nearly 20 years later I measured myself a few months ago and was dead on 5'11

Wrestlers are notoriously shorter in person and generally speaking, athletes tend to be shorter guys so he's often around people several inches shorter than him and is still just a very big guy. People will always assume I'm 6'1 and I'm just not but, people like to add 2" to their own true height so there ya go.
Eagles said on 13/Feb/17
"Straightahead" says Goldberg is 235lbs today. If that's true, then Lesnar is only 255lbs... let's stop down grading these pro athletes size. You see them from a distance in a ring/cage on tv. You may be their height or taller, but you ain't larger nor stronger.

that photo with hogan is great for height comparison. it looks like barely 7 cm to me. just that photo alone is evidence that he need a peak height. cant be 186 today in tat case hogan is about 193. i think barely 185 today is good. lost half inch. as a wrestler at his age. that is pretty good actually

6'1'' flat is the best for Austin

In reality he isn't even 6'3'' in that picture

If the picture was taken from a fair angle, he would be about 6'2'' at best. I'm sure he was also in boots

272 lbs is very heavy. I' don't know if he is really that big.
I mean today he is the same height as Cena (he lost 0.5 inc) and 22 lbs bigger? He has a big belly but he lost tons of muscles in chest and arms. While Cena has the biggest arm and forearm that you can ever imagine and a big chest. If today Austin is 272 lbs is because he gained fats in his belly.
Peak was between 6 ft 1 and 6 ft 1.25 and 240 pounds
Today is between 6 ft 0.5 and 6 ft 0.75 and 260 pounds for me

By the sounds of it, he got measured by a doctor. So his claim is valid but is more than likely taken at an earlier time. Question is whether or not he could have been that mark for real in his 20's?
RP said on 27/Jul/16
IMO...he got measured & weighed with shows on & fully clothed. So, if that's the case ? 6'1-1/2" & 272 lbs would make him barefoot 6'0-3/8" to 6'0-1/2" & stripped down to his underwear (true bodyweight) 265-267 lbs.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 13/Jul/16

Vince was pretty close to 6ft2 in the 80's.
