I recognised Sean as soon as he appeared in the Midsomer Murders episode ‘Second Sight’. He was beating a young bloke so badly that he died.

Hasn’t he EVER played a nice part?

He looks 6ft.

I just saw the beginning of a 'Wycliffe' and when Sean's name came up at the beginning, I thought, "I bet he's playing a baddie!"

He is, having escaped from a security van on the way to being transferred to a different prison for running a drugs racket in the one he's in. He's doing life for killing his wife and her lover.

I saw 'Hellraiser' last night and definitely decided that he's a strong 6ft. No one so far in this crime particular drama has looked taller.

So 6ft it is.

@ Sandy Cowell - That’s very interesting and I have an inkling you could be right but I reckon there isn’t much in it, Sean’s shoulder level does look higher but I’m not fooled by this!

It would be great to compare Sean Chapman and Sean Harris because we would then be able to discover whether Sean Harris really is 5’10” or whether he is close to 6’0”, many people think he is!

@ Nik - I'd imagine Simon could be a fraction more than Sean. His hair bounces his height up rather more than that of the average guy, but look at Sean's shoulder level! It looks higher, but this could be down to the standing positions of both guys.

⭐ On the 10th April, I wrote that 'Scum' was an Alan Parker film. It isn't. It's a film directed by Alan CLARKE, and based on a story by Roy Minton.

I actually got round to watching 'Scum' last night, the 1979 film about a cruel borstal, which caused a storm when it was first seen on TV, and remains just as shocking when seen well into the 21st century.

It didn't take long to pick out which part Sean played. He was James (surname), the tall lad, 18-19 at the time, who was forever asking the screws, "Can we have a burn?" 🚬

Then when James and a couple of his mates are assigned gardening work, the same question is asked. Thereafter, they go into the greenhouse and take advantage of the tiny and vulnerable Davis, played by 5ft6" Julian Firth, who was 18 at the time and still very much in adolescence. They gang rape him and the thought of doing more gardening work the next day, coupled with having nobody to pour his heart out to, causes him to slash his wrists, and, shocked at seeing all the blood, he calls for help again, but nobody comes. 😞 He dies.

Sean is thoroughly unlikeable in this controversial film. I'd say at 17-18, he was nearly fully grown, but not 100%. The characters I do like are those played by Mick Ford, who was 26-27 at the time so fully grown, and Ray Winstone, who was 22 and likewise grown up, though he still looked boyish. Mick does not, laughing when he's referred to as a boy, and I love the way he runs rings round the screws and winds them up by always smiling.

If I saw Hellraisers I and II today, what with this borstal scene still fresh in my mind, I'd find his character rather nicer, and that's saying something!

@ Sandy Cowell - I reckon that Sean is a pretty strong 6ft too as he will be nudging 6’0.5” for a fair chunk of the day, one thing I do know though is that he is a few inches shorter than Mark Chapman! Sean would easily pass your 6ft test though even if he was in his cotton socks! Sean pulls off looking 6’0” pretty well in the above picture with Simon Yadoo, how tall do you think Simon Yadoo is?

It would be great to compare Sean with Claire Higgins, I could do so while watching a Hell Raiser film or I could look online at pictures of them both together, it will be fun to do this whichever option I choose!

@ Nik - Having been watching Sean's Hellraiser films again, I'd say he was a fairly strong 6ft rather than a weak one. The evidence is rather better in the second film because he doesn't bend down to speak with Claire Higgins, 5ft4, so much.

Yeah, Sean and the guy on the right look almost the same in the picture, but Sean is definitely losing more height here since he is noticeably leaning back. He might be half an inch to an inch taller if he stood up straight.

Yuck! I'm watching 'Hellraiser 2' on the Horror Channel and the violence is really OTT. Earlier today, I watched a rundown entitled '10 Movies You Won't Wish To See Again'. I own copies of all but one, and I HAVE seen most of them more than once, all bar 'Irreversible', which I didn't like. I don't understand why none of the 'Hellraiser' films failed to feature in this list...!

I’m going to guess Sean is dropping a bit of height and could stand similar to the guy in the picture above. He’s hard to recognize from his youthful look in the one picture to the image above.

Oh, how fantastic, Rob - you've actually found out Sean's height!

I've been searching for it every time I've seen Hellraisers 1 and 2 since I've been coming here to Celebheights, and never had any luck. The first Hellraiser was on TV this week, and it was back to the old routine of looking madly and failing miserably. Come to think of it, Sean does bend down rather more than Andrew Robinson when he speaks to the 5ft4-though-looking-taller Claire Higgins, but maybe those piercing dark eyes gazing at her so attentively is what enables him to seduce her effortlessly within minutes of introducing himself as 'Brother Frank', and saying very little else! 👁️👁️

I know he starred as a 17-year-old lad in Alan Parker's movie 'Scum', which was being shown alongside the Who's 'Quadrophenia' back in 1979 but somehow, I didn't see this top billing, alas. It might be worth giving 'Scum' a whirl later, just to see if he was fully grown back then. Also, there are far more actors to compare him to in that film. From a personal point of view, Sean's Hellraiser character, who'll have been 25/26 at the time the first film was made, comes over as much older, more adventurous and far more confident than Andrew Robinson's Larry. It might have something to do with the part he plays, but I don't think it's entirely down to his acting. I mean, when you look at this feisty creature, it doesn't seem possible that just 8 years beforehand, he could still have been growing! Now I have an overwhelming urge to find my copy of 'Scum' to compare him to the cast of familiar faces who debuted in 'Scum', many of whom were to excel in the acting business, including Ray Winstone, to mention but one example.

I'm happy to give Sean 6ft. 😃
