@ little sue & Sara - That’s very interesting and to make matters more interesting a character of 5’6” was called short! 5’6” is a pretty tall height and Ruth does give me the impression of being tall!

Love Ruth Wilson, she’s always great and I’m now binge watching His dark materials.
But I honestly thought that she was above 5ft7, she always looks quite tall in movies.

that's what I was thinking little sue. every time a character in Jane Eyre remarked on how small she is, i scoffed. 5'6" is not small. it's not tall either, but it definitely isn't short.
