In 1994, Rob Lowe was attending an Arkansas Razorback basketball game. He was filming "Frank and Jesse" with Bill Paxon and Randy Travis. I stood beside him in a stair well as The National Anthem was being played before the game. He would have been about 29 or 30 years old at the time. I am 5'10" and change. We were the same height.

I watched a couple of really quite good films on Great! Movies a couple of mornings ago.

One starred Rob Lowe. He DIDN’T play a nice guy at all (oh, no! ☝️), but he most certainly DID look 5ft10.

Rob, How far do you think this guy would go with C Thomas Howell? In my opinion I believe C Thomas Howell would edge him today since back in the 80s I would've thought him a strong 178 range maybe 5ft 10.25-10.5 But today I think there's a greater chance that he's shorter than 5ft 10 than over it. But I would like to know your thoughts on this.

Seen The Hotel New Hampshire just recently, Lowe is 20 years old in that. In the movie, he definitely doesn't look nine inches taller than Jodie Foster, and he's barely taller than Nastassja Kinski, who's around 5ft 6.5. Lowe is 5ft 9 max based on that movie.

Saw his Rogan interview, absolutely outrageous that he's 56!! He looks much better than Brad Pitt nowadays, giving up alcohol 30 years ago had something to do with it. He does intermittent fasting, easier to stay trim not eating somedays. To be fair to him he seems to be acutely aware the highest he could ever measure is the 5'11 first thing out of bed if he shrinks more than average.

If Jimmy Kimmel is 5'11.5" then Rob Lowe is 5'10". An easy 1.5 inches between them. You could only ever speculate lifts in either of them as I wouldn't have thought that the shoe difference would be significant. If Kimmel wears lifts then Rob could be what he claims. Kind of funny that Lowe would be so specific in his "5'11 3/4" claim. I've noticed more celebs doing this lately... probably in order to make the public go, "Oh, well, they gave their height to the quarter-inch! So it MUST be legit!". LOL. Not.

Ashley Hinshaw is another example of this, claiming her height as a very specific "5' 7 1/4", when, in About Cherry, she is consistently towered by 5'8" Heather Graham. Go figure.

Bottom line: Extreme specificity in a claim means nothing. Intent is all.

His official website used to say 5'10". The website has been renovated, and it has no mention of his height as far as I can tell. He's putting out the 5'11" 3/4 to sell an image for Hollywood. He looks around 5'10," which is still good height.

The Alan Light photograph should be taken with a grain of salt. Rob told me in the Jerry Seinfeld thread that he has no confirmation of his height beyond what he told him.

Alan Light's no more than 175 cm. My best guess is 5'8". I've gone over this numerous times, especially on Dolph Lundgren's page and others, but anything over 5'8.5" is an impossibility for Alan Light.

In reality, Rob Lowe trades blows with 5'7.75" Piven and looks more like 5'8.5" himself.

I second HawaiiMKT. I saw this guy about 15 feet in front of me filming something on the santa monica pier and he looked 5'8.5 to 5'9ish to me. He was shorter in person.

i bumped into him at a restraunt in Honolulu a few years ago, he was with Ivan Reitman. He walked right by me and my wife. I am a true 5'10 1/2, barefoot, army measuring tape. I put him at about 5'8 1/2. 5'9 with the hair. sidenote: he seemed very nice and a solid guy to everybody there.

Mmm a weak 5'10" barefoot I think, he only looks 5'11" max in shoes I genuinely think he is nearer 5'9" barefoot perhaps 5'9.5". He has that Brad Pitt/Peter Greene weird looking chiselled jaw thing going on though doesn't he where the front of the jaw sticks out over the sides, he has always reminded me a little of Pitt. I remember when I first saw Brad Pitt I used to be incredulous that somebody could have a face shaped like that, its very unusual. These days it doesn't seem to look as prominent with Pitt as it did in the 90s.

It's a touch tricky if we use the West Wing as our guide. You essentially have three guys in the same ballpark (Whitford, Lowe and Schiff). Whitford is never, ever beaten by the other two, but Schiff sometimes matches him. Lowe, on the other hand, is consistently beaten by both of them.

Saw him in Halifax on the street.. just a few feet away. He is a very small, short man. I'm 5' 5" and he didn't seem taller than me. In Rob's 1986 film Youngblood (hockey movie) a coach reads off his height and weight. I put on the movie...Direct quote: "Five foot ten, one hundred and sixty pounds." Rob was only 22, men can grow until there 25. So he could have grown some. In my opinion Rob is 5-10. But sometimes his skinny frame can make him appear half to an inch taller.

I would say he was 5 ft 11 barefoot in his prime (or just marginally under), but is probably 5ft 10 - 5 ft 10-and-a-half these days. Rob is barely 5'10". Take a look at the film About Last Night which co-starred Jim Belushi. Belushi is at least two inches taller than Lowe and I've met Belushi a couple of times and he's six feet even.

To amend Blondie's comment... In the West Wing episode "The Black Vera Wang," Allison Janney's character CJ mentions that the black dress that she was going to try on was made to fit a woman who is 5 ft. 11. Not to say that that that is completely authoratative. Now, if CJ is 5'11, she is probably 6'2 in heels. We know that she is taller than Josh, that Josh is taller than Toby, that Toby is taller than Sam (Rob Lowe), that Sam is taller than Leo, and that Leo is taller than the President. If Leo (John Spencer) is around 5'7 and the President (Martin Sheen) is around 5'6.5 or so, it would make sense that Rob Lowe is around 5'9 or 5'10--otherwise, Allison Janney would certainly have to be an unbelievably tall woman! So, my final bet is he's probably 5'9 barefoot.

I could believe he could be 5 ft 10 in, 5 ft. 11 is pushing it since Allison Janney is 6 ft tall and she had a couple inches on Rob in scenes on the West Wing. Emily Procter, who readily admits she's barely 5 ft 3 in, wore at least 2-3 inch heels while in scenes with Rob and she was still a good 5-6 inches shorter than he is. In many scenes her head hit right about his shoulders. There's a picture of Ms. Procter standing next to Rob Lowe in an ensemble shot at an awards show and he's still at least half a foot taller than she is.
