I think he’s a bit under 174 cm, maybe about 173.8 cm? He definitely looked taller in Cobra Kai he usually looked around an inch shorter than William Zabka in the show in my opinion, but in real life he looks about 2-2.5 inches shorter but again that’s my opinion. He could probably pass for 5’9 out of bed though

I think he was an extremely early bloomer but at a certain age, his height stopped and he started to grow at the 20s. He looked only 4 inch taller than 155cm Miyagi at KK1 and KK2. He was maybe like 165cm in Karate kid 1 and 2. In Karate kid 3, he got taller even he’s in the twenties but he looked way taller than the 2 karate kid movies. Maybe he got like 171cm at Karate kid 3. William and Chozen who is 5’9.5 to 5’11 that time and now, they just looked like 4 or 5 inch taller than him in Karate Kid 1 and 2. In Cobra kai. he could be a bit shorter than his peak 5’7 and looks like 5’6.5? I think in this photo, maybe he had a extra 2 inch in shoes than Rob?

Hi Rob. Similar to Ralph, I actually grew quite a bit in my 20s. I remember measuring 166.5cm in the evening at age 20. By age 25 I measured 170cm flat in the evening, what now seems to be my final height. Height growth is really a funny thing.

He is a late bloomer for sure. His co stars on Karate Kid all looked older yet when he told them hes 22 nobody believed him. I had a friend in high school who looked 14 when he was 18 and looked 16 or 17 at 22 when I last saw him. Karate Kid can have 5ft8 and a half from me. Thats on his lowest I mean. Bog standard 174cm guy. I guessed him at 174cm when I saw him in Cobra Kai and looks like I wasnt far off actually :D

Hi Rob I know someone already mentioned this in a comment years. but I wanted to mention it myself.It is true Ralph Macchio looked like a teenager until the age of 32, not 34 as it was mentioned in one of the past comments. That is the reason why he wasn't chosen to star in The Next Karate Kid he no longer had the teenager look like he had in 1984, When the Next Karate Kid realesed in 1994 he lost the teenager look. I have seen a video of him on youtube when he was 30. He still looked like a teenager, and i saw a picture of him when he was 31 32.He still looked like a teenager at the time. but was losing the teenager look, He was still offered teenage roles when he was in his early 30s he wasn't working between the ages of 33, and 37. He would lost that fast metabolism at 32. The Next Karate Kid era was pre Cobra Kai Ralph Macchio being well into his 30s at the time would have longer look like a teenager by than, and looked more like an young adult. He would have lost that fast metabolism when turned 32. he was still slim, but not skinny like he was in Karate Kid 1 in Karate Kid 1 Ralph Macchio would have weighed 125 pounds by 32 he could easily weighed 155 pounds.

Yo Rob, Do you think we could get pages for Yuji Okumoto and Sean kanan? I think looing at Yuji next to Macchio in KK2, he did look like a six footer. But I think he lost an inch or so looking at him in cobra kai season 3 he looks 5ft 10.5-11 range. And for Sean kanan, looking at him in KK3 he looked a strong 5ft 10 or Weak 5ft 11. Rob, think Ralph and xolo mariduena can switch listings? Even though comparing your photo with xolo and your photo with macchio. Xolo does seem he could be taller not taking account you are leaning a little bit in your photo with Xolo. Also Ralph did look the exact same height as Courtney Hengeller. And in cobra kai season 3 when Xolo was 18. Macchio looks to edge Xolo in this scene Click Here. Hence, I believe Xolo could be 5ft 8.75 and Ralph Macchio could be 5ft 9. Is it possible?

A height twin if there ever was one. Slightly higher eyeline but pretty similar to Rob. The top of Rob's head is about ~1.25-inches above Ralph's hairline hence, height twin.

think he had hormone treatment Rob? it's virtually impossible to grow almost 2 inches after 21, but Macchio seems to have done it. even as a case of delayed puberty it'd be 1 in a 1000 he'd continue growing as late as 25ish. a very, very unusual case he is.

Looking at his photographs from the 80s something does look different if you compare photos from the late 80s to the early ones. In the early ones he looks very young, like a 14 year old. In the later ones, you can tell that not just his features got more mature but his skull developed more. Looks like an ultra late bloomer for sure! Easily 5'8.75". He got blessed!

This guy had a very very late growth and very probably after his 25 .At around 25 next to Robert de Niro/Burt young he looks clearly under his actual height .I think this is very possible to growth after his 25,I know that because it's my case.At 25 I was 177/178 and a bit after my 30 I was 181(and always 181 now ).I have a pic with my family ,on a regular floor,I was only 30 ,I 'm standing next to my brother(180 cm) both in good posture for the pic ans same distance to the camera,and he's clearly 3 cm taller than me.Now my brother at around 45 is 179 in the afternoon and i'm a bit taller than him(181 in the afternoon).It took me a long time to realize my very late growth because I was not attentive to my height in the past.For the anecdote I had a pant that was expensive,and I was not wearing it all the time.It was a very long time(some years) I was not wearing it and a fine day I decided to wear it,and he was now a bit too short for me.But I wasn't know the cause and I was mad at my expensive pant that had shrunk... I understood much later...

I worked on the set of Karate Kid I. At the time the producers were very excited about Ralph and were confident they had picked the perfect lead. The fear was that the story would not be believable to audiences because the script descries Daniel as a 15 year old sophomore in high school, scrawny and a late bloomer while his nemesis was a 17 year old jock who'd been showing manhood since middle school. To make the film believable, they wanted to hire actors who were as close as possible to the characters actual age. At the time movies depicting high school teenagers were being criticized for casting adults in their 20's asking the audience to believe these were a bunch of 15 and 16 year olds. It was easy finding someone to play the character of Johnny - the American culture is filled with these guys. But the Daniel character was much harder. The average 15 year old was not going to be able to pull this complicated roll off. They needed a special actor. Many read for the role and after a few months they finally found Macchio, who only auditioned on the insistence of a friend. At 22, Macchio thought was was too old. But of course it was exactly who they were looking for. An extremely late bloomer, Macchio was darked haired and because of that you could tell that it looked like he had just started growing underarm hair. So it shocked the crew when it was found out he was 22. Meanwhille William Zabka who had been hired months before, was sportin full pits and a blonde trail with full hairy blonde legs at 19. Macchio it was believed, would make this movie come alive. Filming began and the higher ups were scared that they had actually over shot the mark. On camera Macchio was coming off as too young. Who's going to believe that a kid who has yet to grow a full bush is capable of becoming a national karate champion? It was out of this concern that they pushed the narrative up a notch and came up with the now all to campy, "final claw" of a move, giving Daniel that "magic" power to win at all odds.. blah blah blah. The movvie was a huge success it's that scene and "Wax on, wax off" which are still made fun of to this day. But those movies of that era all had that camp hook to it. I mean the most famous line from Rocky is "ADRIAN!!" lol.

@Allie: Probably 65-70 range even if it's just 1/4" to 1/2" for some, but then you're almost entirely guaranteed not to grow an inch in your mid to late 20's like Ralph did so who knows in the rare case? Someone with the ideal genetics who was proactive about trying to minimize or delay height loss might be surprising.

Whilst I know Ralph can seem 5ft 9 in photos and clips at times, in person I wasn't as sure he really looked that tall, hence why I estimated him 8.5 range. I mean 8.75 could be possible, I wouldn't rule that out entirely.

Remember Rob, you wake up closer to 5'9". So, Ralph clearly wakes up over 5'9" and he's pushing 60 years old. I'm 100% sure he was taller in his 30's than he is today. To my eyes, based on the height you go by when you take your photos with the stars, he has enough height on you, that if he were to stand up fully straight, he'd hit that 5'9" mark as a late afternoon, evening height, which is what he looks like next to 5'9" Courtney Henggeler in episode 10 of Cobra Kai (filmed this year). They are in the same footwear they are the exact same height. She's not in heels. If she were, she'd have noticeable height on him.

Episode 10 of Cobra Kai, Ralph Macchio stands right next to his wife, played by the actress Courtney Henggeler, who is listed at 5'9" and they are identical in height. It's an extended seen from several angles and they are the same height. She's wearing no heels and he's wearing similar footwear. I believe if Ralph stood straight with you Rob, he would have 3/4" on you. I know you go by 5'8 1/4" in your late afternoon measurements, even though you wake up closer to 5'9" and he is taller than you and leaning in a bit. He's almost 60 years old and can still appear 5'9" barefoot in 2018. He was at least that height in his prime and probably well over that first thing in the morning.

I agree. 5'8.5" it is, but his height during the early to mid 80s is very much a debate meaning he had a pretty remarkable late growth spurt. He definitely looked shorter than De Niro in '86, although I don't if that was an occasion De Niro wore lifts or if he was only 5'8.5" peak or the full 5'9". But he could also look shorter than Burt Young then, who I do think could have been more 5'8" than 5'7.5", but had terrible posture. I haven't seen The Outsiders in probably 15 years or so, but there's a lot of good references in that movie, so who did he look 5'6.5" with?

Weird because he could seem shorter than Burt Young in 1985 when he was 23-24. Granted, I've long said I thought Burt could have straightened up to a full 5'8" at his peak, but still that means Macchio must have grown a noticeable amount - near an inch - in his mid 20s since I'm guessing there's not much chance Macchio hid a 1" lift in his sneakers if Rob was sure they're similar. It's funny, I usually joke about the late growth spurt being a code for lifts, but in Ralph's case, it seems he really did have one! My assumptions are only based on the pic you provided Rob. To my eyes (and as you know, I've been on your site for 10 years), it looks as though your body is closer to the camera than Ralph's is. Also, it does appear as though you are standing straighter than he is, at least from the perspective of your upper torso and more specifically your upper back/neck/head. His chin appears to be crunched down a little bit more than yours, making me believe that if he were to put his head further back, he would gain more height.

I also mention that you go by your absolute lowest nighttime height and I have seen some of your yt videos and there are measurements where you are taller than 5'8". The majority of the population I would think does not state to the world or to themselves their nighttime height, but either morning or midday height, which in your age would be just under 5'8.5".

Lastly, he is in his 50's and could very well have lost height. You on the other hand are my age and if we lost anything it's maybe 1/8" at the most. Also, he did appear to be the exact same height as 5'10" George Lopez when he was promoting Dancing With the Stars a few years back.

Danimal is right in that he looked as tall as Lopez , but Lopez is shorter than C.Thomas , who Me and Rob met and agree on 5'10 , I'm sure Ralph does get up at 5 '9 or more . On the other hand Rob has taken the photo with him and is sure he is not gaining from posture or angle , I personally think 5'8.5 , 5'8.75 is his range , a hair taller than Rob at best and worst.

As for the 150 lb listing , I personally take magazine listings as a grain of salt , but that does not mean that weight is impossible around that filming.

Most people don't realize that Rob is 5'8" at his absolute lowest and actually wakes up at almost 5'9" and can be just under 5'8.5" in some pictures. Ralph is well into his 50's and Rob's in his late 30's and Ralph is also not standing fully straight, yet is still taller than Rob. Danimal , You have a great point , Rob does claim his minimum and if we don't want to claim are low , maybe we can claim are midday height? So if G is low 5'6.5 , than we must say he is 5 '6.75 or something ? On the other hand , who really measures as soon as they get out of bed ? 5'9 can fit him , but I don't think that's his low .

He's bare minimum 5'9". Remember everyone, 5'8" is Rob's absolute lowest nighttime height. Ralph is clearly taller than Rob and is also leaning in more.

Sorry Rob, but he's at least 5'9" next to you. The top of his head is above yours, you're closer to the camera (giving you the advantage), he's not standing fully straight (giving you the advantage). He's also 53 years old (may have lost a bit of height) AND lastly, I'd like to remind people who may not know, but you go by your absolute minimum nighttime height of 5'8" on this site, when in reality, you do at times walk around at just shy of 5'8.5" at times (and even taller out of bed). All that being said, I'm quite certain that all of those factors taken into account that Ralph is bare minimum 5'9" and most likely 5'10" out of bed (the same way you're almost 5'9" out of bed). This 5'8.5" listing of his is quite unfair imo.
