@Nick: viper said the same thing and I saw him at open but wasn’t close enough suffice to say he didn’t look nearly as tall. Looked at least 3”. I’m 6’4”

I have met him (VERY nice guy btw). I am 6’2 and had about an inch on him at least. He is no taller than 6’1.

@Viper: I agree with you that he’s closer to 6’1” and always has been a weak 6’2 or strong 6’1
viper said on 12/Jul/21
If Phil is 6-2 Brady is 6-5
viper said on 12/Jul/21
I've seen him up close with very good posture, more than once.
He didn't look taller than 6-1.25
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 12/Jul/21
I'm almost certain he's also claimed 6ft3
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 12/Jul/21
I think 6ft2 flat is the lowest I'd argue, other times as looked 6ft2½
Standing with rubbish posture he can look 6ft1-2
viper said on 9/Jul/21
Rob, he needs to be downgraded to 6-1.5 at least.
He looked a GOOD 3 inches shorter than
6-4 Brady.
Canson said on 9/Jul/21
@Viper: was it at the US Open at Congressional? I was there when it was in Washington
Canson said on 8/Jul/21
@Editor Rob: assuming Brady is just a solid 6’4 afternoon which he’s at mimimim that, I’d lean closer to 6’1”. I agree with Viper that’s how he looks up close. Maybe best case 6’1.5” and that was 10 years or more ago
viper said on 8/Jul/21
Phil hasn't lost anything.
I saw him 10 years ago and he looked 6-1
Canson said on 8/Jul/21
@Editor Rob: if you see the tournament that just occurred he’s easily nearly 3” shorter than Brady if not 3”
Editor Rob
he can look between 6ft 1 and 2, however maybe now at 51 he has actually lost a fraction of height.
Canson said on 8/Jul/21
@Viper: I doubt Rodgers is under 6’1”. I’d give him a strong 6’1 before a weak. If anything maybe he’s 6’1” flat at worst but he did measure 6’1 5/8 at the senior bowl. Even if it’s first thing out of bed somehow he’s still 6’0 7/8”. He’s not 6’2 though
viper said on 6/Jul/21
On second thought Phil may edge Rogers.
Rodgers is a weak 6-1
viper said on 6/Jul/21
Phil looks 6-1 at most playing with 6-4 Brady
viper said on 6/Jul/21
He needs a downgrade to 6-1 1/4 badly.
He looks shorter than Aaron Rodgers on tv
Canson said on 4/Jul/21
This listing is better than the previous but still high

@Sjane6: the reason we make a bit deal out of it is because we are in the miniority. We are honest as is Chaos Control. As for Phil, I don’t know. Most people aren’t aware it varies. Some assume they were mismeasured or that they grew or shrunk. I do not believe he grew

@Vincent Caleb @Canson I'm not sure I see why you all are making a big deal about your friends who claim one to two inches. Most Americans claim shoe heights which is one to two inches so they are no different than the average person. I'm actually shocked when I meet any guy who claims a barefoot height. I have rarely had that happen in my life.
A poster on a site about height shouldn’t want people to claim an accurate barefoot height?

@Canson Phil says in quote here that he got half-inch to an inch taller from stretching . Do you think Phil is someone who did not know about difference in morning and night measurements and had never measured in the morning , perhaps, or measured early in day for first time and was wearing shoes and shoe was taller? Very unlikely he gained length in height by stretching.
Jawilder said on 29/May/21
Congrats to Phil on one of the greatest accomplishments in golf history. Certified legend. 6’1.5” max. 6’1.25” is my guess.
viper said on 11/Mar/21
Rob, he needs to be downgraded to 6-1.5 at least.
He's clearly not 6-2
Vincent Caleb said on 9/Feb/21
He should be listed as 186cm.
Height aside though, he is one of the best golfers out there. A real class act as well.

Phil at times does seem struggling with 6ft 2...
one thing I'll say, if you compared Phil to Tiger's head size, there's about 3cm difference in Phil's length.
viper said on 4/Feb/21
I'd have him listed here at 186cm
Vijay Singh is a legit 6-2, seen him up close and obviously taller than Mikelson
cmillz said on 4/Feb/21
Sometimes he only looks a flat 6’1
Canson said on 26/Jan/21
He doesn’t look 6’2”. I saw him at a tournament just like Viper (on grass as opposed to pavement) when I was on pavement and I still thought he was max 6’1 range. Of course at that type of tournament you see plenty of players and none of them look as tall as they claim
Canson said on 25/Jan/21
@Vincent: lol the funny part is you have more of a right to than he does being 6’4.75”. That falls under 6’4 although its closer to 6’5”.
cmillz said on 23/Jan/21
I agree that he’s 6’1 range at most.
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 14/Dec/20
@Vincent
The people who had me at 6'4" weren't tall at all either. 5'+ but well below average. As you'd expect, those who are further away from your height range, tend to make the more extreme guesses. Most of those who guessed me at 6'8" were short too.
Vincent Caleb said on 14/Dec/20
@Canson:
My friends all love to inflate their height. Even my own father does it. It annoys the heck out of me, but I never call them out in front of others just to not embarrass them. However, when my 6’2” friend claimed 6’4”, I rounded down 3/4 and claimed it too, so I made it obvious he was lying. The look on his face was priceless.
@Christian 6’5 3/8”:
The girl was like 4’11”, so it really was a shot in the dark. When she said that we all exchanged a look of confusion at first.
Christian 6'5 3/8" said on 13/Dec/20
@Vincent
Getting guessed 6'6" at 6'9" is unusually low. The lowest I've gotten was 6'4", and it only happened twice if I'm not mistaken.
Canson said on 13/Dec/20
@Vincent: I love calling out inflators. I know one of them. He’s 6’2” flat and used to claim 6’4 then 6’3.5 now 6’3”. We measured him at 6’2 and he admitted it in private but not public. Instead he swore he’s shrunken 2”. He’s just a pathological liar then another who’s around 190 cm that works at a bar we went to pre Covid. He claims 6’3.75 however and rounds to 6’4”. I’ve seen him tell people they’re 1-2” taller than they are. People just laugh when he begins talking about height and he wonders why. Although my 6’3 friend who looked taller on occasion and I explained why people laugh at him
Vincent Caleb said on 12/Dec/20
@Canson:
Most commonly people guess me 6’5”-6’6”. The latter is just as frequent. Got a couple 6’4” and 6’7” guesses but they are rare. My brother gets guesses anywhere from 6’7”-6’11”, since no one is near his height enough to guess. One super short girl called him 6’6”, and one 6’2” inflator to 6’4” called him 7’0” lol.
Canson said on 12/Dec/20
@Vincent Caleb: I saw him on the grass when he was in a tournament and I wasn’t more than 10 feet away I think. He definitely isn’t 6’2. Viper is right that 186 could be it. I’d say 186-187 range. It’s always comical when someone sees an athlete in person and says “he’s 6’2” so you must be 6’5 if the athlete is 6’1 or you stand next to them and have them by 2” and they’re listed 6’4 so you must be 6’6. I’m sure at your size that you get guessed 6’6 regularly being I’ve gotten it before when I’m slightly shorter than you are
Vincent Caleb said on 11/Dec/20
@Viper:
My brother guessed him at 6’1”. I would have guessed him 6’1.75” or 6’2” from pictures though. The top of his head was definitely under my brothers nose by a good bit, and my brother is 6’9”. 6’2” is ruled out for me. I think 6’1.25 or 6’1.5” may be a good compromise.
viper said on 10/Dec/20
6-1 1/4 would be the better listing
Seem him several times up close
Nik J Ashton said on 8/Dec/20
@ cmillzz - Thanks for that!
Vincent Caleb said on 7/Dec/20
Next to 5’11.75” Tiger Woods Phil Mickelson doesn’t look anywhere near this listing. He may be like Tim Tebow, another dude who is listed 6’2.25”, but really is more like a strong 6’1” or weak 6’2”. I’ll guess 6’1.5” for Phil. My 6’9” brother has met him up close and said the very top of his head was quite obviously below his nose. I don’t know how good my brothers height guessing skills are, but if that is true, he is in no way 6’2.25”. I saw him from a distance, but not close enough to guess how tall he is, and I never met him. I haven’t met anybody on celebheights that I know of up close for sure, except Pete holmes. I have had many family members and friends get to see some of them so I will try to give as much info as I can on their pages.
OriginalAnon said on 15/Sep/20
I think a lot of golfers look shorter than the listing but maybe that's because they are often seen in big, open spaces. I could believe 6'3'' but for some reason I always thought he looked about 6'2'' or even under that. Maybe 6'2'' or just over is right.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 2/Sep/20

guys phil is a solid 6 1 and change these under 6 1 listings are bs ,,,, i saq him at the gho in the early 2000s and i saw him in vegas when he played that stupid game for a lot of money with tig ... ive actually had a conversation with him great guy,,, he signed my hat and club,,, funny guy too cuz he signed it keep working on that draw ,,,phil ... but i ve been up close enough long enough to know he is comfortably above 6'1
Shane said on 10/Apr/19
@cmillzz I think he is referring to the stretches elongating his spine perhaps. He isn't saying his bones actually grew longer. Phil is a smart guy. Surely he would realize difference between a morning or out of bed height or night height.
cmillzz said on 28/Mar/19
@Nik, I think what happened was he simply measured much earlier in the day, thus getting a higher measurement which made him think he grew. Either that, or his posture improved, but legit growth in 30s doesn’t really seem possible.
Nik said on 26/Mar/19
@ cmillzz - That's not to say he didn't undergo periods of growth in his 30's!
cmillzz said on 26/Mar/19
@Nik
Lol, if anything he’s lost height. I know he has arthritis, so perhaps he used to be near 6’2 when he was younger?
Rob, do you think some forms of arthritis can cause height loss? I’m not 100% sure how much it would affect height.
Editor Rob
I'm not sure how much effect, but since it does effect joints and causes stresses on them, maybe small effects are possible.
Nik said on 24/Mar/19
It's very interesting to hear about him growing in his 30's!
cmillzz said on 20/Mar/19
Phil does look 6’1 range a lot actually, but his posture isn’t always the best. I’m not sure what he’d measure if he stood tall tbh.
cmillzz said on 26/Apr/18
Yes I've seen Stenson up close and he looked a solid 6'2.
Canson said on 15/Apr/18
@Viper: when I say 6’1 range that could include 6’1”. Remember I’m 6’4.25 so the slightest footwear or angle could change the perspective. And That’s about how I saw him as I was on pavement and he was in grass
viper said on 13/Apr/18
I've seen him at least 4 times close on level ground. Trust me, he does not clear 6-1. I'd bet a lot of money on it. He's not as tall as Henrik Stenson who does clear 6-1
viper said on 13/Apr/18
Even "6-1 range" seems high. He really looked 6-1 flat best.
Have you ever seen Henrik Stenson. Now he is minimum 6-1 range possibly a full 6-2
cmillzz said on 12/Apr/18
Nah, I’m sure Phil clears 6’1 comfortably and would probably measure close to 6’2.
Canson said on 11/Apr/18

Yes, he did, but he looks 1.5" shorter than 6'3 Ernie Els. I'd say 6'1.5 for Phil.
Brian Bird said on 5/Dec/17
Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy both prove you don't have to be 6 foot tall, and full of muscles like Tiger, to hit the ball a long way. Obviously that bodes well for golfers of shorter stature. I was a maximum 5'6.5" at 30 years of age, and because I learned to golf at a young age, I was able to maximize my distance off the tee. I credit these smaller guys for getting so much out of the golf swing, and naturally root for them. I also believe that too much muscle development is not good long term for golfers. Fitness is a must, but endurance does not flow from overly muscular development. If you look at Dustin Johnson, he is an athlete, but his physique is long and lean, not bulky muscular like Tiger. These more slender golfers tend to have fewer injuries.

Interesting... Rob could you do a compilation of celebs/athletes who claim to have grown taller after teen years?? I would really like to see that list
KH said on 21/Jun/17
Phil has an everyman type body (schlubby lol) that can make him appear shorter. He is pretty tall a good couple inches on someone like Tiger Woods.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 21/Jun/17
I think he claimed 6ft3
Arch Stanton said on 21/Jun/17
Is he really over 6 ft 2? Must admit I watched him a year back and I was struggling to even see 6'2! Perhaps because he's a brad framed guy doesn't look as tall as he really is?
Editor Rob
I believe 10 years ago he could look a good 6ft 2 range, but 6ft 3 I can't see...
there may be a little truth to doing stretches and measuring taller, but it also could be simply earlier measurement.
