American actor best known for starring in tv series Starsky and Hutch. In a 1979 TV Superstar book, was described at 5ft 11 and 165lbs. In a 2014 edition of the Daily Mail he was quoted saying: "at 5ft 10 and approximately 13 stone [182 pounds]"

When I was a kid, everybody was a fan of ‘Starsky and Hutch’ and loads of people had posters of them on their walls. I wasn’t big time into it, but became a fan of David Soul when I saw him in the excellent Stephen King film ‘Salem’s Lot’.

Doesn't look above 5ft10/178cm now. I doubt he's only 0.5in shorter than David Soul.

I wrote this a few years ago - Back in the 1980's I met Paul outside a store in Toronto and - I am 5'9" my ex-wife who was there is 5'5' and she was wearing sneakers. Paul was in sandals and no taller than her. After he walk away she said "I can't believe he is that short".

Soul always looked a little tall (6'0''), while Glaser was average (5'10'') on the Starsky & Hutch TV series. As has been mentioned before, the difference between them was no more than 2 inches.

Problem with David Soul is his knees enter into the picture a half-hour before the rest of him does. There are times Glaser only looks 1.5 inches shorter and at other times 2.5 inches shorter. His hair was also curly and thick whereas Soul had baby fine hair, which would add to the impression of Glaser looking taller. I really think Soul was only no more than 2 inches taller than Paul.

I don't think he was quite 5'11." His STARSKY & HUTCH co-star, David Soul, looked to be just a hair under 6'1". I'd peg PMG at peak at a strong 5'9"/weak 5'10".

Re Soul's height loss, I do know he's had at least one seriouos back injury that he needed surgery for. That could contribute to more than average height loss.

Right. If Soul only looked 6'0 then the obvious question would be, how could Paul Michael Glaser really have been 5'11 or even 5'10.5 for that matter? I grew up on their show and I've seen enough of Soul to know he was only 6'0. Glaser, gave an impression of 5'9.5 but he probably had a half-inch height disadvantage because of those small, blue sneakers...I can't remember what they were called. Soul would wear boots at times giving him a serious height advantage. Other times he only looked 2-2.5 inches taller than Glaser.

Editor Rob soul could indeed be just 6ft range, I know a year ago he looked 5ft 11 so maybe the odds on him losing 2 inches were slim.

Nope, don't buy it. Ben Stiller, who IS about 5'5", said on a show on the BBC Jonathon Ross back when they did teh Starsky & Hutch movie that Glaser was way taller than him. He had no reason to say it. He said it after Ross remarked that he resembled Glaser a lot in the movie. He said something like "sure I'd look even more like him if he were about 8 inches shorter"

There's gotta be a mistake here. Take a look at the cover of "Starsky & Hutch - The Complete First Season." Glaser is a good 4" shorter then 6'1" David Soul.

David Soul was about 6-1 when I met him in the mid 80's in New York. Glaser was at least 2 inches shorter, so 5-11 at peak is probably right. He looks closer to 5-10 now.

Like I said, he was the same size as Soul. Huggy Bear, forgot his name, was several inches taller than both, clearly the tallest and skinniest in the group. And Stiller was about half a head shorter than Glaser, and Wilson maybe an inch or so shorter than Glaser. Also, Stiller and Wilson were on Jonathan Ross' show who complimented Stiller on looking so much like Glaser in their Starsky and Hutch movie. Stiller answered (clearly exaggerating) that he WOULD look like Glaser if only he were 8 inches taller!
