How tall is Janet Street Porter

Rob I know there's not much of her when she was young to prove that she was taller, but looking at more recent photos of her I think it's hard to argue just 6ft peak. When comparing her to 6'1 Penny Lancaster, I'd say she holds up really well, considering she's almost 70 here:

The background makes it easy to compare the two, Janet can still pass for 6ft! Surely she didn't start losing height after turning 70, she must've been at least 6'0.5 right? The average guess is too high, but I wouldn't rule out the chance of her even being 6'0.75 in her prime!

@Rob why is it that the average guess has her at over 6'1? Do people on this page not realise this is afternoon height we're listing, cus if she were 6'1 in her prime that'd make her almost 6'2 in the morning?

Unfortunately I couldn't find better photos, but she appears to have a thinner heel, and yet does pull off at least 6'1 there. Maybe Peak Arnie was only 6'1, or perhaps he had already lost some height by then and in his prime was still 6'1 and 1/2, either way Peak Janet gets 6' and 1/2 from me. The more I see of her the more I think she was closer to 6'1 than 6'flat, maybe 184.5(6' and 5/8) afternoon height and 186.4(6'1 and 3/8) morning height.

Nowadays she's probably the same height as me, still looks as though she'd measure over 5'11. I'll give her 5'11 and 1/2 only so I can still refer to her as an Amazon. The way I see it you have to be taller than me to qualify as one ;p

Recently seen a clip of her meeting Bowie and him being taken aback by her height. Standing on tiptoes to speak to her. I suppose 6ft tall woman arent the norm

Janet has only ever dated men shorter than herself and this is cool! She doesn’t think that height defines people in any way and she thinks short people are just as cool as tall people and I agree! Also Janet has a well balanced view that men under 5’8” are short which is something a lot of people much shorter than her agree on and she does think president Macron is short! She does think short men are just as cool as tall men and I agree!

Hallo Rob! Why do you think Janet Street Porter lost so little to her seventies (only about 2 cm). I've read your article about height loss and it says that cumulative height loss from age 30 to 70 years averaged about 5 cm (1.97inch) for women; Besides she is a tall lady. Thanks for the answer.

@ haroldgreen741 - Ha ha! Of course that was an oversight, and I can't see myself having been daft enough to have put a short height in the box or it would reflect on the current height result. Besides, I can't see the heights for a six footer to go that low. It would be a first! 😯

Janet's legs used to be like long pencils and I felt quite envious, knowing full well that I'd never grow up to have long limbs like hers! I was in my early teens then, and yes, I remember her short skirts; she did them complete justice.

The one-time journalist and TV presenter (for decades now) looks incredibly young for her years. It's hard to believe she's the age Arch says she is - 75 🤭. She's probably put on just enough pounds to prevent herself from having an overly gaunt and ragged appearance. She simply MUST be following a super-effective diet and beauty regime to look so youthful at 75.

5'0.75? she lost 1 foot of the height??? :D. I probably assume you were meant to say 5'11.75. Anyways, I do believe her peak height was more than 6ft flat and I would say probably between 6'0 1/2 - 6'0 5/8 and that is a generous claim. For current height, probably 5'11 3/8 for her as she is 75 years old.

I always thought she looked about what she claimed. unusually tall for a woman. Gives off a 60s-70s rock star vibe with her hairstyle. I didn't realise she was 75, I thought similar age to my mum at 68, she should be down to 5 ft 10 range by now!

I used to think she was 6ft3 - obviously morning height - because I read that she'd said, "You're hardly a man's ideal partner if you're 6ft3, but neither are you if you're 5ft3!"

I thought, "Flaming cheek! What about personality?"

Then later I was steaming with, eh, envy because she interviewed David Bowie! She WAS taller than him...

Anyway, Janet can be funny and pleasant, and altogether quite likeable.
