Worked with him on set in 1999 on The Golden Bowl (Merchant-Ivory film with Uma Thurman, Nick Nolte, Kate Beckinsale). Chatted with him up close and he was at least 185 or more like 186cm. You can also see that in The Remains of the Day when he stands next to Christopher Reeve, he doesn’t appear to be more than 5cm shorter.

186cm is arguable for this guy. Didn't look much shorter than Connery

Rob is a strong 6'1 peak possible? Got a good look at him in The Russia House and he looked aout the same height as Connery, in fact in some scenes could seem a little taller! I would have guessed nearer 187 seeing him in that film. I also thought he looked nearer 6'2 in Passage to India. His brother on the other hand isn;t even 5 ft 8, funny that!

he may well have fallen into that strong 6ft 1 range yeah.
I might have to find an early spotlight to see if it included a fraction, sometimes they did and it doesn't show up in the database version of today.

Rob can you add Performance, Passage to India and The Servant. Three inches on Mick Jagger.

In the Russia house he was very close to Sean Connery...
I think in that movie Fox was 6'1" for sure and Connery 6'1.25-1.5"...

Saw Victor Banerjee, actually today he looks about 5'9 but peak must have been closer to 5'10. 5'9.75 would be a close estimate. So a weak 6'1 for James Fox, very high quality actors he and his brother. His son looks 6'2 and nephew 5'8. Judy Davis is no way 5'5 looks really small for that more like 5'2.5 or so. Could u add a page for her rob.

Yeah looks about 4 inches more than Anthony Hopkins and 2 inches more than Hugh Grant so 6'0 is about correct.
Arch Stanton said on 12/Oct/13
yeah he has 2 inches on Richard Wilson in Passage to India who is around 5 ft 11 I think and also has about 4 inches on Victor Banerjee who claims 5 ft 9 in the film. 6'1" flat it is then for his peak.
Arch Stanton said on 12/Oct/13
Looks near 6'2" in Passage to India, certainly looks an easy 6'1".

I doubt this guy is in the same range as Connery in regards to height. Nowadays looks to be a bit under 6ft1. 184cm rob?

In Russia House he looked as tall or even taller than Sean Connery. I guess I should watch the movie carefully. So, yes, at least 6`1
