Really rather tall for a lady from the mid 20th century - peak, that is.
She could have been 5ft7 first thing in the morning, but I am going with 5ft6.25 overall for Deborah.

The first time I watched Deborah was when I viewed 'Heaven Knows Mr Allison', when she pretended to be a nun.
I was so small that all adults looked like giants!
Five foot six. 😁💐

She doesn't seem like a lady who would be into weightlifting, but you don't get a neck and shoulders from twiddling your thumbs.
Click Here Probably swimming which did it, but wouldn't be surprised if she practised gymnastics as well.
Arch Stanton said on 17/Apr/17
I read that she was a strong swimmer, I'd guess the powerful shoulders came from years of regular swimming.
Arch Stanton said on 10/Mar/17
Very strong neck and shoulders if you image her. I'd not noticed before.
Arch Stanton said on 10/Mar/17
Rob, have you got a weight claim for her? Looking at her in the Arrangement and she was surprisingly powerfully built, almost female bodybuilder like at least by 1969.
Editor Rob
I'm not sure of her weight.

The current biography yearbook aka green bible has her listed as 5'7"
Sam said on 4/Nov/15
Rob, could you add those additional credits? One of the most distinguished careers of a leading lady of her day.
Sam said on 19/Aug/15
Rob would you add The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, King Solomon's Mines, The Innocents and The Sundowners to her credits and a photo if you get one?
Arch Stanton said on 6/Jul/15
Rob, do you think maybe 5'6.5 would be fairer? If you see her next to Cary Grant and Walter Pidgeon for instance she seems to pull off looking 5 ft 10 range in heels. Now she did wear big heels, but I think something around 169cm would better.
Arch Stanton said on 15/Apr/14
Mmm next to Richard Burton in flats in The Night of the Iguana she looks about 4 inches shorter actually. Doesn't look over 5'6" next to him.
littlesue said on 25/Mar/14
Those heels would only give about 2 inches in height, could have been on a box for close ups and diferent camera angles
Arch Stanton said on 23/Mar/14
She looks about 5 ft 10 in normal heels next to Cary Grant in An Affair to Remember. They might give 3 inches but 4??
Arch Stanton said on 4/Feb/14
Rob is Roger Livesey worth adding? Haven't checked his height on the web but proportionally next to Kerr in The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp, one of the great Powell and Pressburger films, he looks 5'11-6' to me.
Editor Rob
not sure on him
Arch Stanton said on 27/Dec/13
Thanks for adding the films but "Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison" is the full name of the film, sorry if my commas didn't make that clear. She played a nun opposite Bob Mitchum on a desert island during the war, you've problem seen parts of it at some time or other. It's really very good.
Arch Stanton said on 26/Dec/13
Yeah Black Narcissus, Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison, Quo Vadis and King Solomon's Mines I think are worth mentioning.
Arch Stanton said on 26/Dec/13
Not really my type, but she really looked beautiful in Quo Vadis.
Arch Stanton said on 26/Dec/13
Rob can you add Black Narcissus and Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison (played nuns memorably in both) and Quo Vadis to the above? Separate Tables is probably also worth mentioning but I hated that film so don't bother with that one :-]
Arch Stanton said on 26/Dec/13
Looks 5'6" next to Yul Brynner in The King and I.
Arch Stanton said on 20/Dec/13
Looks 5'6"-5'6.5 accounting for footwear next to Robert Taylor in Quo Vadis. She looks tiny though next to one of the guards in it who in checking I see why. It's boxer Buddy Baer who was listed at 6 ft 6 and a half!!
Arch Stanton said on 26/Oct/13
Bob Mitchum has about 6 inches on her in Grass in Greener, but proportionally she looks more like a 5 ft 7 lady than 5 ft 6.
Arch Stanton said on 29/Jul/13
Rob is it possible she could have been 169cm? I'd have guessed weak 5'7", probably 5'6.5". She looked quite tall for a woman next to 6'3" Stewart Granger in King Solomon's Mines. I think she also looked nearer 5'7" than 5'6" next to 6'1" Bob Mitchum in Heaven Knows, Mr. Allison.
Editor Rob
it could be a chance yeah

Maybe she was wearing heels but i'm pretty sure shes taller than 5'6 in "the king and i" Shes seems pretty tall

Funny....Cary Grant was 6'1 and Deborah Kerr was 5'6. Watching them dance in the movie "An Affair to Remember" they were almost the same height. How could that be??

My salute to this wonderful actress who passed away yesterday.
Kyle said on 28/Feb/07
I have seen numerous films with Deborah Kerr and she has always appeared tall
next to her leading man. She looked to be more 5'7" than 5'6". Also, Turner
Classic Movies' book "The 50 Most Unforgettable Leading Ladies of the Studio Era" lists all their heights (and lists Miss Kerr's as 5'7").
