Also, Kaye met with President Reagan at the White House a year before Kaye died. He appeared to be the same height as Reagan. Kaye was only three weeks older than Reagan. Kaye looked much older. He mentioned having a hip operation. The video is on the web on the Reagan Library website.

I was shocked to see Kaye appearing to be the same height as Dick Van Dyke when Van Dyke was a guest on Danny’s show in 1963. No lifts on Kaye. If anything, Kaye seemed to always wear shoes with slim heels. He wore sandals sometimes. Perhaps he had foot problems. I’d say he was a very strong six footer. In White Christmas, Kaye was only two inches shorter than 6-2 Dean Jagger and was several inches taller than Bing Crosby who wore huge lifts.
Watch the video of Kaye’s show with Van Dyke. If Van Dyke wax really 6-1, then Kaye was slightly over six feet.

Danny Kaye was 6' or very close to that mark in late fifties/early sixties. There's a picture near a middle aged 6'1'' Cary Grant possibly in his mid fifties from the set of North by Northwest and only an inch difference between them. No more no less. If Grant was 6'2'' in his prime, I don't think he could have lost more than an inch at the time of that picture. He still looked juvenile and fit as always. I think Danny Kaye was a six footer for most of his career, possibly 5'11 in his sixties or seventies. He passed away only 3 months after his friend Cary Grant.

What was the best movie 5'10" Danny Kaye ever made? Tough call. He did not make a lot of movies, but The Inspector General belongs in your video "diet" if you love Danny Kaye! I also loved him in White Christmas and Take Me Out To The Ball Game and his Oscar winner Wonder Man. (And he popped up with 5'7" Doris Day in It's A Great Feeling. But The Court Jester is the best Danny Kaye movie. It's also me favorite Kaye movie. He like Abbott And Costello and Laurel And Hardy delivered lots of laughs without resorting to gimmicks or cheap jokes. But again many people now won't watch movies this master of comedy made because they think Danny's movies are "dated." FAR FROM IT! Great comedy, like Tom Poston once stated,NEVER gets dated! Danny Kaye was UNIQUE! ONE OF A KIND! If you get a chance to watch a Danny Kaye movie, this is QUALITY and CLASS we don't see a lot of now!

Danny was closer to 6'. There's a Pathe newsreel showing him arriving in England by ship. He stands next to 6'1" Rex Harrison. I only see about an inch difference in height.

Look at the movie "White Christmas" and notice how much taller he is than Bing Crosby. Bing was 5' 9" so I totally believe Danny was 5' 11"

There is no way he is that tall! He wasn't short, but no taller than 5'9.

A good friend of mine (6'3.5") interviewed Danny Kaye in the 1960's. Kaye was about 5'11", and seemed to resent my friend's significant height. Unlike his public image, Kaye could be very difficult in person.

Very funny comic. Sadly died right after Jaclyn was born.

I met him and we were eye-to-eye the exact same height - 5'11". Kaye was quite shy and reserved in public. At the same charity event I saw Fred Astaire (5'7"), Jack Benny (5'8") and Kirk Douglas 5'8").

Danny Kaye stood very "tall" in my mind as far as I was concerned. I'm only 58 years old but remember the wonderful TV programs and Christmas shows he put on every year. Very fond memories and I especially enjoyed him in "The Private World of Walter Mitty". Very funny movie and last but not least, he was a top notch superb dancer. Ever see him in "White Christmas"?!

Are we talking about the old time actor? He couldn't have been 5'11! 5'8 more likely. He always looked kinda short.
