@Canson But if you put Conan at 6'3.25" therefore Jared Padalecki really couldn't be over 6'3.5". There isn't much between them even i hardly gauge out seeing 1cm.

When I saw Conan in person, I didn't think he was too different than myself. I'm 6' 3 3/8" - I really thought Conan was at most only fractionally taller than my height. Perhaps like a quarter inch taller yes, but not as much as a full inch taller like some on here seem to think he would be.
Canson said on 9/May/18
@Junior: Selleck claimed 6’3.5 before and 6’4 another. The thing with Conan or Selleck or anyone else for that matter, them claiming a height doesn’t mean it’s thejr low. Conan never looks just 1” shorter than Kobe Bryant. And I agree he looks 1/2”, maybe, shorter than Selleck, I would put Selleck a hair under 6’4 peak 6’3.75 probably and Conan 6’3.25 peak. Conan also was shorter than Hasselhoff, Lithgow, Neeson, Goldblum at their peaks. Also have to look at how Conan has tried to inflate others. He told Neeson he was 6’5 that Selleck was 6’4/6’5 that Wlad Klitschko was 6’6/6’7. Conan also claimed 6’4/6’4.5. That’s correct but doubt it’s out of bed. That’s a shoe height for him which could lead to 6’3.25ish. To be fair, he could be 6’4” out of bed tho

I'd quote him at 6'4" and a quarter, he looks taller because he's skinny, 193 cm at his lowest.
Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 8/May/18
@Canson Atually a peak Tom Selleck only look a fraction taller than Conan. Selleck had also claim that he was a wee bit over 6'4 and i doubt he is is just decent 6'4 at his low not over it. Someone like Hasselhoff is more like a 6'4 1/4 peak while i remember Hoff look at least 1cm taller than Conan on his show. Conan can't be as low as 6'3, maybe his 6'4.5" later claim was a out of bed height and always standing at 6'3 3/4 tall.

He is at the same height as armie hammer.

@Canson 0:23 onward Jared was closer to camera angle and tilt up his head. Conan is really not under 6'3 3/4 i believe just 1/4 under this listing. In the clip when they shook hand its obvious Conan a bit taller by a 1/2 shoe advantage.

This guy has to be near 6'4
Canson said on 21/Apr/18
@Junior: I don’t know. Jared looks taller at 0:23.
Canson said on 21/Apr/18
@Junior: I think his hair gives that impression but I can agree he’s probably not a solid 6’3”. Maybe 6’3.25 as he’s a good 1.5” shorter than Kobe
Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 21/Apr/18
If not in a fussy way of estimated correctly compare to certain actors height i did just give Conan 6'4 peak at least and 6'3 3/4 now when i see him face to face with legit 6'4 Jared Padalecki in less sneakers look to be a bit taller than Jared.
Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 20/Apr/18
6'3 too low i agree with Rampage. At first i thought of 6'3 1/4 but he look taller than solid 6'3 1/4 guy like Liam Hemsworth. More i look at Conan i think at worse 6'3 5/8 (192cm) than just 6'3.5 (191.77cm) while look at him looking solid 1.5" taller than The Rock who is more like a decent 6'2 than 6'2.5" and i found a clip Conan edge 6'4 Jared Padalecki by a fraction. Jared had a sneakers look about 2cm and Conan had a solid looking 3cm footwear on his feet. I can even buy 6'3 3/4 for Conan but seriously not 6'4.

Agreed but I wouldn't rate him as a solid 6ft4 like Neeson or Goldblum
Canson said on 19/Apr/18
Agree with Christian. 191 today and that’s a best case which is why he claims 6’4/6’4.5 as that is a shoe height
Canson said on 19/Apr/18
@Rob: you may want to see him next to Barkley or Kobe and take a hard look. Kobe may be the full 195cm at a low but doubt Barkley measures that at a low. People who meet Barkley guess him as 6’4” more often than not so it’s likely he’s more 6’4.5 at a low. In addition, you have Neeson listed 6’4” flat and he’s clearly taller than Conan as Conan acknowledged when he told Neeson he was 6’5” before. Conan also called Selleck 6’4/6’5 and Wlad Klitschko 6’6/6’7. Something has to be said when the guy inflated all of these celebs by an inch or more and also claimed a height of 6’4/6’4.5 himself when he’s not even as tall as a guy who claimed 6’3.5 (Selleck) or a guy who claimed 6’4 and a wee bit (Neeson). He’s also not as tall as Hasselhoff or Haysbert who are both 6’4”. That almost points to his claim being a shoe height. Wlad would be 6’6/6’7 in some shoes even at a low, especially if he’s a strong 6’5”. I honestly feel a good 6’4 is reasonable out of bed but he would dip to 6’3.25 maybe at very best 6’3.5 at a low and the latter would be at his peak. Take into account how long his hair is, as well. That makes him look taller than he really is.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 19/Apr/18
Rob, what are the chances of 6ft3½?
Editor Rob
I can't see it...he's got to still measure very close to 6ft 4, at worst a little under it.

Before bed: 192-193cm

Not a solid 6ft4 but close enough…
Canson said on 13/Apr/18
@Viper: I can agree with Micky below but my guess is 191cm more so than 192. Maybe at his peak he was that but can’t see it today. Maybe he wakes up to 6’4 but he isn’t that at a normal lowZ He is always shorter than the Kobe Bryants Charles Barkleys David Hasselhoffs Liam Neesons John Lithgows etc. Him claiming 6’4/6’4.5 is his shoes height as there is no way he is physically that tall or ever was. That would make him close in height with Michael Jordan or Charles Barkley and he is not as tall as those guys and never was. And Conan didn’t lose any significant height as his posture is still great even at his age. Maybe 1/4” or 1/8”, but no way he’s lost an inch yet. Kobe Bryant at 195 cm is at least 1.5” taller than him.

Dwayne Johnson's listing of 6'5" is a legacy of his wrestling days I'm guessing. I'd cut some slack for that personally and at least he didn't try to suggest that Conan must be in the 6'6"+ range to perpetuate his own 6'5" myth. He stood right with him and knows the audience has eyes. IMO, Dwayne is about 6'2"-6'2.5" but IF The Rock is in fact 6'3" then I would say O'Brien is reasonably over 6'3" and pushing close to 6'4".

While I don't buy 'Six Four and a half' for Conan, he is well over 6'3".

He did expose Dwayne Johnson's 6'5" claim.
Canson said on 17/Mar/18
@Berta: imho Hoff was a legit 6’4” and so was Liam Neeson. One thing people don’t realize here is that Conan gives it away that he lies about his height. Maybe lie is a harsh word but he claims his shoes. Conan has gone on record to call Neeson 6’5 (he’s likely just a strong 6’4 at best), Selleck he called 6’4/6’5 when Selleck has said before he’s 6’3.5. Maybe 6’3.75 is possible but he’s taller than conan and Conan acknowledged that he was. Then with wladimir klitschko he called him 6’6/6’7”. With all of that it shows that Conan claims his shoes esp when he called himself 6’4-6’4.5. Conan has always likely been a strong 6’3” guy barefoot and at best maybe he was 6’4 out of bed. Maybe a touch over peak but 6’3-6’3.5 is what he commonly looks (at most) with Kobe or Barkley or the other guys mentioned

Hilarious skit - almost forgot to focus on height comparison. I looked at eye level. Also, given Conan's high hair line, it was easy to imagine him sans hair ala The Rock.

With all that, I see only 1" tops in favour of Conan. On the other hand, I see a near 2" advantage for Hoff over the Rock and that reconciles to the near 1" advantage I see Hoff holding over O'Brien.

This site lists The Rock at 6'2.5" which I think is max. for Dwayne who is possibly only really 6'2". As such I'm still only calculating O'Brien to be between 6'3" and 6'3.5".
Canson said on 15/Mar/18
Conan is not 2” taller than the Rock they’re eye level at several points during the video. Conan would be taller than him but that’s not hard especially being Rock is 6’2” and Conan 6’3” range

@Tall in the Saddle: amen! Says a lot when your usual people here go to great lengths to inflate guys like Charles Barkley to 6’5.5 or 6’6” just to make Conan 6’4. Conan peak was probably 6’3.25 at best. 6’4+ with shoes on which is what celebs do in Hollywood (except Howard Stern or Tim Robbins).

Solid 2 inches taller than Dwayne Johnson here. Conan's standing slightly further away and he's still nearly 2 inches taller.

@Berta: you’re roughly 2.5-3cm taller than me at a low and your inseam is ridiculous lol. Mine is 35-36. Usually a 36 if untailored and in a loafer or other casual shoe they can be too long. And I’m 193.7-.8 at my lowest
berta said on 9/Mar/18

Tall In The Saddle said on 9/Mar/18
From a Lilliputian's point of view, Conan could perhaps look to be 100 feet tall. In the real world however, Conan looks to be about 6'3.25". Now I am not trying to tell anyone how to crack their eggs and certainly not looking to start a war over a trivial inch or so in height.
I'll just say, in my many travels, no one has ever called me Gullible. Get it?
Mike O said on 7/Mar/18
He's massively tall. A legitimate and strong 6'4", probably close to 6'5" (over 6'5" with the hair).

A 5’9 range Wendy Williams with 5” heels would make her about 6’2.5 in them meaning Conan would be taller as he’d be 6’4 range in shoes (6’3-6’3.25 barefoot)

@Junior: i can see him at 6’3” today. His hair is thicker and longer than Barkley’s as well. Barkley could’ve been 6’4.5 at a low. I’m not sure exactly what time the show was taped but I could see the max for Conan in his prime 6’3.25. He looked shorter than lithgow every time he was on his show and Selleck and Hasselhoff.

6'7" Manny Yarbrough who is barefoot stands toe to toe with 41 year old Conan Obrien (in 2004) who may be in dress shoes. Conan is taller than Manny here. He was EASILY 6'4" if not 6'4.5" barefoot in his prime (he's in his mid 50's now). Forward the video to 4:20 and onwards:

I haven't seem much that Conan look under 6'3 1/4 at worst. But thinking back how Conan look about 1.5" shorter than 194.6cm Charles Barkley surprsie me. Lithgow listed at 6'3 1/4 now that would make a safe bet they're both equally same height now.
Canson said on 4/Feb/18
@Junior: I think Lithgow still edges Conan. At least the last video he still did. I can’t see Conan above 6’3” flat today but Lithgow I buy a full 6’4 peak or worst case 6’3.75
Junior Hernandez said on 4/Feb/18
@bugs Conan could be a tap bit taller than a current 6'3.25" John Lithgow. I wouldn't go over 6'3.5" for Conan but Lithgow peak is truely 6'4.

@Dillon: and Draymond is closer to 6’5 than 6’6. Steve Kerr Alvin Gentry and even Carmelo Anthony have all said he’s 6’5 not to mention the Warriors previous GM said in a podcast that I posted before that he was the third shortest player on that team last year behind Curry and Clark. I can see him maybe as a 6’5.25 guy at his lowest if he’s not a bit less 6’5.75 could be a morning height as could 6’5 5/8 rounded up since the NBA doesn’t do 1/8”. Draymond is only about a cm or half inch taller than 6’4.75 Kobe was at absolute best
Canson said on 21/Jan/18
@Bugs: Conan has long hair and long proportions. He’s likely at his peak a 191cm guy at best maybe just 6’3” flat. I don’t think he’s lost much if any height. He never measured up to Selleck or Lithgow and there’s debate as to whether either is a legit 6’4. Hoff and Neeson were tho and both clearly had an inch on him at worst 2cm. Goldblum is taller than all of them imho and possibly Haysbert at his peak. But I’d say both were likely 6’4.25 max Haysbert could’ve even been same as the other guys or 193.5 max. Conan next to Charles Barkley or Kobe Bryant never looked above a flat 6’3 taking into account hair. Kobe could look close to 2” taller and Barkley around 1.5”. But people here will desperately upgrade Barkley when he measured 6’4 5/8 at the Olympics and not to mention one of my best friends is 6’3 on the nose (only dips 1-2mm below at night in his late 50s) and said Barkley was about an inch and a half taller than him at most and that he’s around my height more or less. Not to mention Barkley today has had hip replacement done so may just be my height 6’4.25 at a low possibly esp being as obese as he is and the injuries he’s had during his career. That’s actually good if he’s still that all things considered because he doesn’t look good when he walks at least he didn’t for a while

It's been discussed so much here that it's clear John Lithgow is TALLER than Conan.

On Will Ferrell's page here, people are estimating Ferrell to be only a half an inch shorter than Lithgow.

I have also seen Ferrell with Conan and there's nothing there. There's no significant height difference, Ferrell and Conan are likely close to the same height, and absolutely neither of them is 6'4". Compare this to the case between Conan and Norm MacDonald I presented earlier. Norm is supposed to be 6 foot ONE pt 5 and is HUGELY shorter than Bob Saget. On the other hand Norm (in thinner shoes) appears MAX 1.5" shorter than Conan and Bob Saget is claimed to be shorter than Conan. Doesn't make any sense.

Look at the famous clip with Jake Gyllenhaal (about 5'11", right?). Even with Gyllenhaal in SOCKS, there's not a large enough difference to make Conan 6'4". A LOT of other contradictory estimates and listings would also be easily solved, if it could be honestly accepted that Conan is not fixed at 6'4" and is likely shorter. Lots of evidence of that has been provided. It simply seems (for whatever unknown reason) that Conan being less than the claimed 6'4" is not and is not going to be SERIOUSLY considered.
SMcM said on 10/Jan/18
Compare Conan to Will Ferrell (listed here as peak 6'3), I'd say he consistently looked significantly taller. I'd say 6'4 peak, 6'3.5 current.
bugs said on 8/Jan/18
Editor Rob: Here's a couple, for example the one starting at about 12.50 min Click Here Again, I'm putting stress on the shoes, Conan is in dress shoes (actually in ones that appear to have lifts in them, believe it or not), MacDonald in running trainers. At about 12.55 min, Norm's knee is still bent and he's already eye to eye with Conan while they're shaking hands. ALSO...

What about that Saget/Norm picture? The pic is tilted but even if you straighten it out you can see that Saget is MASSIVELY hunching down to talk to Norm and they're still not eye to eye. That has got to be a 4" difference, and in essence what I'm saying is that Conan doesn't look anywhere near that much taller than Norm. Add to that... Saget is listed as SHORTER than Conan.

Everything is reinforcing my estimate that Conan is actually about 6'3" flat maybe.
Editor Rob
I did watch a clip of Conan, Norm and Gordon Ramsay...I think he wasn't much taller than Gordon.

@ALEXANDRE ALVES BR

People could lie of height, weight, inseam everywhere it is common nowadays but a point is that older athlete Kevin Young weigh heavier unlike Conan had skinny legs for a bigger upper body proportion that could help to look having longer legs. I would say Conan inseam was almost 37" only when he fit with shoes on measured.

@Junior: his hair is what throws off pics. IMHO he was never higher than 191 but could appear 192-193 with his thick hair. He’s good good posture too. Like with Liam Neeson, he was a good 6’4 peak but can look shorter than Conan today because of his poor posture whereas Conan still looks 6’3” range imho. Maybe he’s still around 191 or worst 190.5
Junior said on 25/Dec/17

True he could be 6'3.5" peak and 6'4.5" with shoes and just go with both claim but now at 54 he could have loss 1/4 dig into in 6'3.25" with Scottie Pippen few years back he look max 8cm shorter than Scottie who was more like Lebron height 6'6.75" not higher.

@Adam: I can agree on that especially since lithgow with Conan was when lithgow was a bit older so may have lost a fraction. But yea we both agree Conan is
Adam said on 22/Dec/17
Canson, we agree on that - Lithgow is taller than Conan. What I’m saying is that Lithgow’s pose with Conan doesn’t prove Lithgow taller than Selleck (as you would claim) because Selleck’s edge over Conan seems to be even clearer. But again, neither does that prove that Selleck is taller than Lithgow.
Canson said on 21/Dec/17
@Adam: I’ve seen enough proof to know he’s taller than Conan is. It’s clear as day Lithgow edges him
Canson said on 21/Dec/17
@Rob: have to disagree here. he’s not even as tall as Lithgow or Selleck or Hasselhoff. When he’s thinking Selleck is 6’4/6’5 and Selleck has said 6’3.5 before that proves it’s his shoes he’s claiming. Conan seems to inflate everyone to make himself 6’4

Adam said on 19/Dec/17
Canson, there’s no way you could guess Lithgow taller than Selleck in the Conan pics. If I had to guess, on the pics, Selleck gets the nod every time. But that’s my point, the pictures won’t ever prove half inch differences if you use a third party (Conan) as yardstick. Its too imprecise, impossible in fact. Again, I don’t conclude Selleck is taller than Lithgow just because the former looks taller with Conan. But neither does Lithgow’s pose with Conan prove him taller than Selleck. No way.
Canson said on 19/Dec/17
@Adam: it’s hard to tell with that pic looking at how Lithgow’s neck is there. But could be a 2cm difference or half inch just like with Selleck was like half inch taller than Conan and admitted he was 6’3.5 once and said 6’4” before too. I think Selleck was more like 6’3.75 Conan 6’3.25
Adam said on 17/Dec/17
Canson, Conan also guessed Selleck an inch taller.
Adam said on 15/Dec/17
Canson, to expand on my point below - Conan here with Lithgow :

And with Selleck :

I’m not saying Selleck is taller than Lithgow but if you want to use Conan as a yardstick for the former two, no way you can conclude Lithgow appears taller with Conan than Selleck does. Quite the contrary.
Canson said on 15/Dec/17
@Adam: lithgow looked to edge him by more than Selleck and he guessed Liam an inch taller and told him he was 6’5. My guess Conan is peak 6’3.25 esp when Selleck claimed 6’3.5 at one point maybe really 6’3.75 tho
Adam said on 14/Dec/17
Canson, of those four you mentioned all were indeed taller. But to put an exact figure on the difference is stretching it. Lithgow doesn’t seem to edge conan by a greater margin than Selleck. The latter went right up in his face and looked down to Conan. No similar approach by Lithgow. No apparent evidence Lithgow’s edge is greater, or for that matter Neeson or Hoff. If anything, much more difficult to assess their edge over Conan than with Selleck.

Iirc Amare Stoudemire (former NBA player) had a 38" inseam at his listed height of 6'10 (obviously shorter than this by at least 2 inches)

It's an incredibly large inseam for a 6'4 man. Likewise a 30 inch inseam is almost absurdly short for a guy like Micheal Phelps.
Canson said on 29/Nov/17

Conans legs really aren't that long to be 38. That 7 foot vlogger has a 38 inseam. My guess he has a 36 inseam and is perpetuated by how skinny his legs are. I have a 36.5-37 inseam and I seldom see anyone with longer legs than me.

He does have a long inseam which explains why he looks taller than he is. To go along with long hair. Conan peak was never above 191cm. 38 seems a little too long to believe, if we're going by pants inseam. 36 is already a very long inseam.

I found this segment on the internet ... if it had an inseam of 38 it would have a ratio of 49.7% there are many people with this ratio ... I researched about an olimpic medalist named Edwin Moses who was 6'1.5 (187 cms ) and had a inseam of 37 ... Rob should have a look at it

Didn't Conan once say he has a 38" inseam? That's very long for a 6'3"-6'4" range guy.

38 isn't impossible, he did joke about it in the segment with Josh Brolin.

exactly 30.5 inch, nearly 6 inches shorter than Conan's
Canson said on 18/Nov/17
@Drew: i don’t notice a lean in the video where he says I’m 6’4 but I’m not. However looking at Conan with John Lithgow he’s also shorter than him and Rob has Lithgow even lower today but likely because he’s older than Conan. My guess would actually be that Lithgow is still a hair taller and that if 6’3.25 for him it’s 6’3 for Conan or somewhere in between 6’3-3.25. Conan has never stacked up properly against 6’4 and 6’5 guys he’s always looked max a 191cm guy only can look taller to people because of his posture and his long hair along with long limbs

Canson said on 31/Oct/17
Based on how he inflated people in the past I’d say Conan is 6’3-6’3.5 peak maybe 191 and 6’3 today. He said that selleck was 6’4/6’5. If his peak was 6’3.5 or 6’3.75 his shoe height would make him 6’4.5-6’5 in shoes. That would make Neeson 6’5” in shoes as well as wlad klitschko 6’6/6’7 (6’6-6’6.5) in shoes possibly if he’s strong 6’5. He really gives it away that he claims his shoes. Not many celebs actually claim their barefoot heights other than Liam Neeson Selleck (maybe a roundup) and Stern. Tim Robbins also a roundup from 6’4.5

Now what Canson say is true that a 6'4 peak Tom Selleck is taller than Conan and Conan pegged Selleck to be over 6'4 but his not. I guess Conan is a strong 6'3.5 maybe closer to 6'3.75" peak and just 6'3.5" now always look 3" taller than Andy Ritcher who get listed 6'1 peak and 6'0.5" now but maybe Richter is more like 6'0.75" at his peak.
Canson said on 20/Oct/17
@Sonny Black: I have to agree with you. He’s always been at best a strong 6’3” guy. Maybe 6’3.25 peak. His hair makes him appear taller along with his ungodly long limbs.

More like 193cm prime and 192.5cm today. There is really not more than 8cm between Andy Richter and Conan, although rob standby 6'0.5" and 6'1 peak for Richter but obviously Richter is 3 years younger than Conan and i look through them many times 8cm is the max between this two best friend and both had lost small fraction since they're over 50 now.

Conan O'brien 192.5cm
Andy Richter 184.5cm

Tall In The Saddle said on 15/Oct/17
If you can understand how the angle was skewed in O'Brien's favour you should also be able to make the necessary "adjustments" and see Hoff as taller. All due respect but the lines you drew weren't parallel with the background features of the set which would otherwise appear perfectly horizontal in a square frame. Your lines are actually parallel to and in support of the skewed frame - angling down and away from the understood horizontal - in favour of Conan. I think the shoulder height is a perfectly reasonable ref. point for the reasons I outlined previously - there's a big difference there and while I can't see a longer neck on Conan anyway it would have to be an extraordinarily long neck to pull up the slack. Even in the skewed frame the top of Hoff's ear is a touch higher - draw the lines appropriately parallel to the understood horizontal and the top of Hoff's ear is that much higher again. Another way of looking at it as I said before - you could leave your lines exactly where they are and simply rotate the shot clockwise until the understood background horizontal features actually become horizontal in the frame - that obv. means Hoff will move up and Conan will move down and the height diff. will be more readily apparent.
Junior said on 14/Oct/17

As I've said, I have no doubt the angle was skewed in Conan's favor, but that's precisely my point -- the angle does obscure their heights. I don't think shoulder height can tell you enough, especially with men who are undoubtedly close in height. Shoulders are a long way from the top of their head and it could be that Conan has a longer neck. I don't think you can overcome such obstacles to tell who is taller between two men likely only a half inch apart in height. It can be difficult to see a half inch difference sometimes even with an ideal angle.
Matthew Robinson said on 13/Oct/17
I really don't think 6'3.5" - 6'3.75" range is unreasonable for Conan. It's not like Hoff has an inch on him or something. It's more like a cm than an inch. He could be just 6'3.25" but I think 6'3.5" is more likely.
Tall In The Saddle said on 11/Oct/17
The mind/eye can become reasonably trained to interpret and adjust for less than ideal frames of reference. The Hoff/O'Brien shot isn't perfect but it can still be reasonably processed to interpret Hoff's real height advantage.
With an upward shot, Conan closer to camera and on the right hand side, it is obvious that Conan will gain "height" within this particular frame of reference. Hoff being on the left and in the background will always lose "height" in the frame of reference relative to Conan. Well further back, you can see the door frame to the left of both men, both men are much higher than the door frame within the frame of reference - which is in reality is obviously not the case.
The lines drawn on the image provided only serve to feed into the skewed frame of reference rather than adjust and correct it. The lines drawn are parallel to the frame but clearly slope down from background architectural lines (incl. top of door frame)which would otherwise present as horizontal in a perfectly square frame. To put it more simply, that photo should be rotated clockwise in some measure to bring in more in line with reality. There is also the foreshortening effect on Hoff in the background which falsely compresses his head/features as compared to Conan in the foreground.
As I've said before, check the difference in shoulder height. Despite the frame of reference, Hoff doesn't "lose" so much relative to Conan in terms of shoulder height because their backs are contacting, virtually occupying the same point in space with their shoulders a little bit more apart again. While Conan enjoys foreground advantage across several reference points within the frame, that advantage is at its least when comparing their shoulders.
Rising - 174 cm said on 10/Oct/17
I think Conan is likely shorter than Hoff as Hoff was a full 6'4" and I have Conan at more 6'3.5" as I suspect the 6'4.5" claim may have been in shoes, but that back to back in no way proves -- or even suggests as far as I can see -- that Hoff is taller. It's probably the angle, but Hoff's head isn't taller even accounting for hair. I believe Selleck was 6'3.5" as he claimed a couple of times in the 80's. A height I think he likely maintained until his early 60's.

To say somehow is truly puzzling to me as I really don't know how one could see it as proof Hoff is taller and again, this despite the fact I do believe Hoff has perhaps half an inch taller: Click Here I'd say I was more than fair with approximating where Hoff's head would end. For that matter, I could move it up to the absolute top of his hair and illustrate the same point. And for good measure, I put another one at Conan's lower eye to show that neither by eye level nor the top of their heads can one say Hoff came out taller. It's just a problematic angle, plus, I'm not sure Hoff's shoes looked like they'd even be good for a full inch.

He appears a good 1.5"-2" less than Barkley or Kobe as well but may be angles with camera or shoe advantages as both the latter two are 6'4" range guys as well (Kobe likely 195cm but Barkley 194-195).

6'3+ guys in American show business are already the start of towering presence. Take a look Click Here at Chris Hemsworth- you can see from a mile that he's obviously the tall one in this group, even though he's "only" 6'3.
So I'm not surprised that Conan can get away with tall jokes all the time. However, had he gone to the Netherlands or Montenegro, he'd have been nothing special. Like: "Man, why are you peacocking? My daughters are 6'2 and 6'3 tall. I'm 70 years old and can see your balding head from up there."
Anonymous said on 28/Aug/17
Conan just doesn't quite stack up against other 6'4" guys. But, being 6'3"+ some fraction, he is tall enough to be noticeably tall, towering even. So it's understandable that he can get away with a 6'4" impression next to a lot of shorter people. But he has looked shorter than every true 6'4" he has stood up with.
Canson said on 27/Aug/17
@Matthew Robinson: I don't think he has lost anything really noticeable. He's just not as tall as he claims to be. He is no way a legit 6'4 never has been. I mean Lithgow Barkley Kobe Hasselhoff Neeson Selleck Goldblum list goes on he isn't as tall as any of the 6'4" guys and more so the 6'4.5-6'5 guys he's towered. If we are talking height loss maybe he has lost 1/4" he still has great posture as well. Something nobody ever picked up on is that selleck is taller than him (Conan tried to inflate selleck), then Selleck asked him how tall he was. Makes me believe he isn't as tall as Selleck and selleck and he both know it
Matthew Robinson said on 27/Aug/17
Agreed that IF Conan has lost height, we're talking 1 cm absolutely tops. And probably not even that. I think he's pretty much about as tall as he always was, at least as of 2017. Any height loss so far is probably in the order of mms, but he may well lose some more noticeable height in the coming years. He is/was always around 192 cm give or take some mms.
Tom said on 26/Aug/17
Why, though, does Conan's seat tower above his guests? Yes he's tall, but regardless of the guest, he is, in all cases, looking way down at them, as if he needs to be in a superior position? As in, "It's the Conan show and I'm the most important person here". It's distracting. I'm a huge fan of Conan's but his 2-3 foot height differences with his guests, at least for me, takes away from the importance of his guests, which truly should be the focus of the show.
Bugsy said on 23/Aug/17
I saw a "height loss" related post here and just have to comment on that. Yes, people do lose height with age but it is usually on the order of some millimeters per decade and only really starts at 50. Significant height loss in younger people is caused by serious health problems, usually scoliosis or other spinal curvature problem which in turn can be caused by obesity.

Conan is 54, thin, and seemingly in good shape so whatever height he has lost would be 0 to 1 centimeters, not 3/4 of an inch or more. If you seriously think that kind of height loss is true, then it would be more believable that Jimmy Kimmel WAS in fact the 6'1" that he claimed and has lost height (Kimmel is almost 50 and he was very much overweight in the past).
To some extent, I can believe the latter since I myself have a back problem and was overweight. I had already "lost height" before 30 but I KNOW it was simply because my spine was not straight.

In general and especially in the case of athletes or actors who are required to be in good physical shape no noticeable height loss is going to happen until old age.

Meant to say Rob may not rush to upgrade Conan for sure does tho!!!
Canson said on 17/Aug/17
@Rising: agreed but he doesn't rush to upgrade. Never heard Conan downgrade anyone tbh. But I do agree about Neeson. He could just be a solid 6'4" at his lowest and gotten the 6'4 and a wee bit in the morning maybe a couple hours out of bed 6'4.25. But that shows when he had Conan by close to an inch that Conan isn't as tall as he claims. Then again he may have been measured at almost 6'4" in the morning which makes sense or he counts his shoes or his hair was factored in there
Rising - 174 cm said on 16/Aug/17
@Canson: Some maybe. But it's not like Rob is being inconsistent keeping Conan at 6'4" since he usually doesn't rush to downgrade or upgrade someone. In some cases, I think enough evidence has been presented of a celeb with others similar in height to warrant 1/2" or even a 1/4" downgrade, but in all general, it makes him more accurate than some others who may jump to conclusions quicker because some comparisons may be contradictory and a picture or even video doesn't always paint an accurate picture. Going back to Chevy Chase, I think he was 6'3.5" as he claimed, but he could have shrunk a bit by the time he was on Conan's show. Actually, Chevy and Tom Selleck looked about the same height on Chevy's show in '93, which I think is accurate, yet Chevy looked shorter than Conan what? 4 years later? While Selleck looks a bit taller than Conan to me in their 2004 interview. It doesn't all add up perfectly.

As for Neeson, I say just 6'4" peak give or take a small fraction. A legit 6'4" is towering as it is.
Junior said on 15/Aug/17
Conan might be 6'3.75" nowadays since he was over 50 of age losing a fraction look possible, maybe at prime 6'4
Canson said on 14/Aug/17
@Rising174: Yup!!! all the time!!! Especially if I wear Jordan's or Timbs. I lately have said 6'4" if I'm in flip flops or casual shoes but when in a higher shoe I'd say 6'4/6'5 but actually 6'4 1/2 more frequently than either really. I get some who insist because they are XYZ (haven't lately tho I will say) maybe 6 months back say he's 6'5" and I'm prob inch taller then than him. He was claiming his shoes very clearly (which he admitted) as I had him in casual shoes by half inch or so and he only had my 6'3 friend by half standing next to him. He was max 6'3.25-.5 and 6'4 1/2 in shoes which he rounded up. I will say he didn't inflate me but he did say well if you wore this shoe you'd be this or why don't you claim this and tried to explain why he should be allowed to claim shoes. I finally just walked away from him as I was tired of hearing it

@Rising174: what you mentioned about Dolph could be true that he didn't drop below 6'4" in the 80s Or 90s. However I still think that many celebs are overlisted here on the site
Rising - 174 cm said on 13/Aug/17
@Canson: I see what you mean. Nobody will question your height then and I bet you probably have people insisting you're 6'5" or 6'6"!
Canson said on 10/Aug/17
@Rising174: I understand. For normal low tho I look more at what you are on a normal day. Example if I measure 193.9 around 5pm or so on a day where I don't go to the gym. For practically I would just say I'm 194cm since I'm that for most of the day. I think it's fair if it's maybe within 1/8" of the low as a claim so if you're 3mm above around like noonish and haven't come all the way down that is about fair enough. I think it sounds that way for me because I am a bit over 6'4" (near 6'4.5) but round down as I am still closer to 6'4 than 6'5". But my true height is probably 6'4 3/8 for a true fraction as I don't generally fall below 6'4.25 on any day and that number is usually even a bit low as it's more 6'4.33. Looking at Conan I would say he is a guy who is about 3cm shorter than I am where he may hit 190.5-191 range at night whereas I am 193.5-194 range
Rising - 174 cm said on 9/Aug/17
That perspective with O'Reilly is the same as with Selleck in '98, though we get better posture for a comparison, albeit briefly. O'Reilly looks and probably was the taller of the two. Conan looks taller than Sacha Baron Cohen to me, but Cohen could be a flat 6'3" as he claimed it, though I don't see Conan less than 6'3.5" there. Also LOL @ Ali G and Pat Buchanan. I like how Buchanan plays along as if they were speaking seriously. But not only do I doubt Conan admitted being under 6'4", but I doubt he would admit it. If a 6'4" guy comes along like Neeson, he'll just say the man is 6'5", just as he did with Neeson. Being 6'4" is part of Conan's identity at this point so regardless of whether he's 6'3.75", 6'3.5" or anything else, I don't think you'll hear an admission any time soon. Remember, he even tried claiming above 6'4" at one point!

@Canson: Because I don't sleep much, I'm probably regularly up long enough to see what my absolute low is, though it won't be unusual for me to lie down during these stretches I'm not sleeping so I don't know how much I recover when I do. People reach their lows at different times and under different circumstances so it's a bit difficult to compare. I should probably say a normal low. If you drop further then it's probably less relevant unless you're at a party late into the night for instance and the subject of height comes where someone is challenged on it. I do understand the logic of claiming a height you know you'll never drop below, but personally, I think the height somebody would most likely be measured at is the one I'll use. As for low, I do think Dolph at his peak was a guy who never dropped below 6'4". Either that, or most people he was seen with in the 80s and early 90s need a downgrade.
Canson said on 8/Aug/17
@Rising Force: I doubt absolute low for most. Absolute is under abnormal circumstances more or less. Thats being on your feet for extended times and measuring at night to see an absolute low sometimes even being up for close to 2 days for some I've seen here. That's like me measuring a little over 6'4 like 193.1-.2. I got to that point twice where it was 193.2 and 193.1 and I was very very barely over the 76" mark when I'm usually falling between 6'4 1/4-3/8 at night. But a normal low of like 8 hours after being awake maybe 7 hours is typical for many more people than you may think tho. That's just like me going to the doctor at 1 pm if I wake up at 5am on a regular day. I would say tho I agree with you that a middday height is likely only about 1/8" above the normal low. Depends on midday too. I think midday could be maybe 5 hours after being awake in many people's eyes. Like if you wake up at 7 am and measure at noon. That's typically gonna put the average person around that mark maybe 1/8" over the normal low maybe like .14-.15. Key is tho that it's never completely accurate as Rob could meet a celeb that hasn't been up as long as him and may overestimate or vice versa. Similar to how Ali Baba said when he met Tyler Mane that he was up longer than Mane (by Mane's admission to nursing a hangover) and was at a solid 6'6" and that even with footwear Mane to him looked possibly at most 6'7" said could even be 6'6.5. I'd give him 6'7"ish tho at least 200cm based on the pics
Matthew Robinson said on 7/Aug/17

Tall In The Saddle said on 7/Aug/17
@Matthew Robinson - Got you! Conan at 6'3.5" holistically fits well into the total scheme of things without too much nip/tuck of other recorded heights on this site. The methodology makes sense.

Given all possible variables and limited visual perspectives, perhaps a +/- margin of error of 1/2 to 1/4 inch has to be accepted with all estimations. I guess attempts to calibrate more finely inside those margins is simply beyond us and plain guess work.

Again, I appreciate the vision/pics 184guy brings to the table.
Re the Bill O'Reilly clip provided. AGAIN, we have that same perspective that disadvantages O'Brien but, allowing for same, I too think that O'Reilly might have the better part of 1 inch on Conan.

In fairness to Conan, I've linked the Sacha Baron Cohen greeting which departs somewhat from the usual perspective - a rather square on and more practical view actually though postures are never perfectly straight at the same time - except perhaps when both men turn with their backs to camera. In this instance, I would give Conan the edge here - maybe 1/4 up to 1/2" but I have no idea as to comparative footwear. Anyway, Sacha is listed 6'3.25" which seems fair as far as 6'3" listed Will Ferrel goes - who Sacha appears to edge by about .25". So, from that vision alone and Cohen's assumed height, I might give Conan an estimate of between 6'3.5" to 6'3.75" but still fall back on an error margin of between .25" to .5".

@ Tall In The Saddle - I agree with almost everything you've mentioned. If anything, I think most of the commenters here who look at these videos of Conan with other guests between 6'3" and 6'5" are coming to kind of a consensus that 6'3.5" is sort of a good over/under - where you'll get some people saying that's the most he could possibly measure and others saying it's the least they can see him measuring. That seems to be the number where they meet. If we could know for sure that his exact height was 6'3.5" I don't think you'd really have to touch most of the other listings of guys mentioned here at all either. Maybe bring Matthew Lillard down to 6'3" or 6'3.25" listing rather than 6'3.5" (he's claimed 6'3" before anyways) and Selleck could get a 6'3.75" peak height instead of 6'4" as he seems a smidgen shorter than guys like Hasselhoff or Neeson (he's claimed 6'4" and 6'3.5"). I guess you could contemplate a 6'3.25" for Chevy Chase too - perhaps - but I'm not sure.
Rising - 174 cm said on 5/Aug/17
@Canson: I've still not seen enough to say 191 cm for Conan, but I'll acknowledge it's possible. As for Selleck, I think 6'3.5" peak personally, but if you don't accept my theory about rounding up from 6'3.5" to 6'4" then splitting the difference and giving him 6'3.75" is fair as well. I still think Conan didn't finish his thought with the "I'm not" and even though he's likely below 6'4" barefoot except in the morning, I don't think Conan acknowledges this based on his 6'4.5" claim. I do agree with you on Conan trying to upgrade guys around 6'4" to 6'5", but Conan may honestly believe he's that tall. People have probably guessed him taller than he is a number of times due to his build and hair, plus, not too many people are in position to distinguish a 6'3" and change guy from a legit 6'4".

I haven't looked at Fox enough to judge yet. As for time of day, I go by approximately midday because that's when it seems most people are likely to get measured. I think this is the most likely time of day to line up with the height the rare honest person will give. It will typically only be 1/8" to 1/4" higher than a low anyway, but I'm not sure too many people are likely to get measured at their absolute low, just like most won't get measured at their high either. I understand those who average the low and high as well, but then you'll likely get a figure higher than the person is likely to measure. I know Rob says he uses lunchtime for the time of day of his listings, so I use that as well as long as I'm on this site, unless I note otherwise. For instance, I'll often say something like "Dolph Lundgren in his prime was 6'4" at his low". As for Rob's listings, he is reluctant to change a listing, which I'd say is usually a good thing and a reason why he does such a great job with this site, though there are a few listings I think sufficient evidence has been presented to warrant an adjustment. And of course, I mean no disrespect by that.

Apologies but I can't remember which poster stated same but a good point was made re the ritualistic perspective of Conan greeting his guests.

It's pretty much always the same, viewed at lower than head height and a reasonable angle left from square in front, the guest in the foreground filmed from the back moving in and Conan in the background approaching his guest to shake hands. To be fair and remain equal, one would expect Conan to lose in some measure from this perspective - I always feel we can mentally adjust for same somewhat but no, it's not the most ideal frame of reference.
Be that as it may, from this frame of reference I have sometimes noticed Conan "gains" as he moves in toward his guest - in the case of Billy Campbell, Conan "gains" a bit and actually shifts his position a bit at the very moment he shakes hands which ultimately lends itself to a very practical frame of reference - a square on shot.
I re-watched the Selleck greeting and unfortunately the shot doesn't square up. The perspective remains the same, at an angle, Selleck foreground, O"Brien background but the two do get in close and both stand reasonably straight, and imo, evening afford Conan some "gain" from that perspective, I still think Selleck appears clearly taller.
Re Conan's hair possibly creating an illusory effect of being taller. Yes, that is true. I suppose also with longer foreheads or overall larger heads, one might fixate on comparative eye levels while ignoring actual height as at the very top of the head.
Canson said on 4/Aug/17
@Matthew Robinson: "about 6'4" but not" I can agree with you that he measured that range 6'3.5-.75 or just 6'3.5 but that's likely a morning measurement for him as well so I'd lean more toward the 6'3.25. This going off how he looked with The other 6'4" guys mentioned. He "adjusted" Neeson to 6'5" and Selleck to 6'4/6'5. Which signals to me that Neeson may be a strong 6'4" (6'4-6'4.25 zone at his low) or he could just be 6'4" and Selleck 6'3.5 could be what rising 174 said 6'3.5 Or be a bit closer to 6'4 than that. This puts Conan 6'3-63.5
Canson said on 4/Aug/17
@Rising: I'd go with the following

Selleck: may be that low but I would say he's a full 6'3" still today
Conan: 6'3.25 imho at his lowest
Barkley: 6'4 5/8 like he was measured
Padalecki: agree with you full 6'4" same with Neeson
Homme looks taller than Conan to me too
Canson said on 3/Aug/17
@MatthewRobinson: I'd have to say at minimum he should be at least 1/2" shorter than current. I believe he's less 191flat tops but since there is so much debate 6'3.5 is a good start. My reasoning for this is Selleck is clearly taller when they first greet and Conan all but acknowledged him being taller and saw what Rising174 said that he did say Selleck himself was quoted as saying 6'3.5 as well and 6'4". Not to mention Conan tried to pile a full additional inch on Neeson when Rob has Neeson as 6'4" here then with Lithgow who is also taller than Conan very noticeably (more so than Selleck).
Canson said on 3/Aug/17
@Rising174: well said on the July 30th post! And I will add that very few will question a 6'3.5 rounding up to 6'4". Heck many will round you up on your behalf for an unknown reason (everyone believes taller is better). But when I have claimed 6'4" and said I was 6'4.5 I was told well why don't you round up? (In reality 6'4.5 was a roundup and I'm closer to 6'4" than 5 for most of the day). I agree tho with Selleck in that him saying 6'3.5 is essentially no different than 6'4" and won't affect him with getting roles. Now I can also look at a guy like David Morse he looked a legit 6'4" peak and would strike me as taller than Conan as well. But Sellexk being between 6'3.5-6'4 signals to me Conan is a little lower more 6'3.25 if we give selleck the midpoint of 6'3.75 he appeared taller than him. One thing most never mention with Conan is his hair. He has very thick hair that if counted will make him 6'4" easy. But being a legit 193.7-194 guy myself I would say Conan is at least an inch shorter he doesn't strike me comparatively against those guys esp when I've heard from people my size or an inch shorter that met some of these people like Hoff and said he's a solid 6'4" looks a hair shorter than me in person from one person.
Canson said on 3/Aug/17
@Rising Force: yea I can def see lithgow a full 6'4". I always take 6'4" by how that person looks. They may be over 6'4" by a hair meaning could be a guy who wakes closer to 6'5 and is 6'4".25 or 1/8 or even my height .25-.375 at night. But on the opppsite end you have a shoe measuring 6'4" that can be as low as 6'2" range then a 6'3.25 that claims 6'4 if he woke up and measured in the morning at 6'3.5-.75 and was rounded up. I've always gone with the same concept of Robs that it's at your lowest. I believe a full 6'4" for Conan is out of the question however and always has been. Looking at him with guys like Kobe or Barkley or Neeson or lithgow or Haysbert Mangianello Selleck the list goes on. If I had to guess from that list of guys his size or inch taller or shorter I would say the legit 6'4" guys in my eyes are Lithgow Haysbert (peak) hasselhoff maybe selleck Neeson is listed 6'4" by Rob he may have been 1/4" over max I don't see anymore in fact he could be even as low as 6'4" peak at his lowest. Then guys who are more weak 6'5" like Barkley (6'4 5/8) or Kobe (6'4.75) then Wlad (6'5 1/8-1/4) he guessed Wlad as 6'6-6'7. That's why I have always guessed Conan as lower because he inflates everyone else and on more than one occasion has he called someone a certain height and they replied back their actual number. I also saw a very very recent post where he measured one celeb 5'9 range on his show and "gave" him 5'11". My guess is him saying he's 6'4" but he's not is accurate that he is close to 6'4 albeit if he is measured an hour or two after waking and is 6'3.25 at his lowest. Most assume when someone has claimed a height or Rob lists them a certain way that it's their lowest when that is not always the case. You have people here who heard Conan say he's 6'4.5 and use that or take that as his actual height and inflates other people around him that are an inch taller or shorter. Funny how they take someone's highest claim but negate someone else's honest claim

But In many cases if Rob does not know he will make a guess or list how they claim or are listed to avoid downgrading whereas if he has good enough proof he willl make them what he thinks they really stand. Rob has been honest about that for example with Rick Fox he has said that if he isn't sure it is safe to leave him at that. Rob has said that Fox is in person more like 6'5.5 (with Kobe or Horace Grant etc) which I totally agree with but said he based it off how he appeared with Cudmore in part comparatively. But said Fox could be 6'5.5-6'6 range.

Good posts, 184guy. Conan is a bit enigmatic, i'll give you that. He does honestly look taller than Lillard. Could Lillard be a flat 6'3" or even 191 cm? He does make apparent 6 foot guys like Skeet Ulrich and Jamie Kennedy look quite short, but Skeet could be more 181-182 cm range.

Here are my estimates for those guys

Conan: 6'3.5"
Bach: 6'3"
Billy Campbell: Not looked at him enough
Selleck: 6'3.5" peak, 6'2.75" today
Padalecki: 6'4"
Hasselhoff: 6'4"
Neeson: 6'4"
Homme: Not looked at him enough
Barkley: 6'5.5"
Christian-6'5 3/8 said on 3/Aug/17
Conan: 6'3.25"
Lillard: 6'3"-6'3.25"
Homme: 6'4"

184guy is right, Conan had a bit of camera angle advantage over Lillard
Mathew Robinson said on 3/Aug/17
@184 guy - Homme is quite obviously the taller of the 2. Conan is probably a shade taller than Matthew Lillard, but the difference was exaggerated by the angle.

Conan and some of his guests who were between 6-3 and 6-5.

Conan: 6-3.5 or 3.75 ("I'm about 6-4 but I'm not". Can look as high as 6-4 or low as 6-3.25)
Sebastian Bach: 6-3 to 6-3.5 (looked as tall as Conan actually, but might've had a little footwear advantage)
Billy Campbell: 6-3.25ish
Tom Selleck: 6-3.5 to 6-4 (peak, no more than 6-3 today)
Jarred P: 6-4ish
Hasselhoff: 6-4
Neeson: 6-4 or 6-4.25 (peak, was clearly taller than Conan to which Conan acknowledged)
Josh Homme: 6-4.5 (seemed 2 cm taller than Conan, perhaps 2.5 cm even)
Charles Barkley: 6-4.75ish (he's been cited as being 6-4 5/8 and claimed 6-4 3/4 himself)

@Canson: Very well said! I don't feel strongly that Ted Danson was a full 6'3" at peak, but I got that impression from Cheers because he always wore very flat shoes and still looked very tall. Always solidly taller than Kelsey Grammar who was over 6 foot and he looked taller than an over 6'2" actor that I saw with Rob. Probably, somewhere between 6'2" and 6'3" is the right fit for Danson. One thing I can say for a certainty about Conans height. He is over 5'11".
Canson said on 1/Aug/17
@Adam: I agree it would be a small diff like 6'4 1/8 vs 6'3 7/8 or 6'4 vs 6'3.75 maybe at most half inch. Hasselhoff gives the taller impression due to his build. He has longer proportions and is broad as well. Whereas selleck has always been a mild bit pudgy even in Magnum maybe not pudgy so much but not cut either

Canson, as far as "crazy" goes, casual observers may very well regard all of us as crazy for arguing half inch differences between celebrities. This site, to begin with, is somewhat crazy for making an issue of other people's heights. But that is just the thing, we find innocent pleasure in benchmarking celebrity heights to the nearest centimeter. It might be crazy to back your favourite actor's height claims with contrived comparisons and pictures and what not but its just as "crazy" to devote considerable time and effort to "out" Conan as a sub 6ft4 specimen. But that's exactly what we do here and that's really allright.

Mathew Robinson said on 1/Aug/17
I couldn't tell you for sure that Selleck edged Conan or they were basically the same due to the angles they were standing at etc. It wasn't the greatest clip to compare down to the mm (I will say it seemed Selleck MAY have been a shade taller, but I can't really say this with confidence). What I can tell you that Conan said in the interview "...but I'm not" to being an exact 6'4". That sounds like an admission that at the very least, makes taking a quarter inch off of this listing kind of a no brainer.

Canson said on 31/Jul/17
@Anonymous: agree on most of what you said but I think Conan would edge Danson by a hair. Ted I totally concur with 6'2.5 like he's listed here on celebheights doubt he was ever a full 6'3 in the afternoon. But everything else you said spot on! Conan for sure no go at 6'4" at his lowest.

You see it but What other people here don't is that you could have 5 guys standing next to each other that all claim 6'4. One of which could be 6'2.5 claiming shoes one of which could be my size (6'4.25-.5 range), one could be Conan's size approximately strong or solid 6'3 and have measured say 6'3.5 or so early morning then you could get a solid 6'4 and a guy who drops to maybe 6'3 1/2 or 3/4 at their lowest. The thing that people are doing is taking Conan's claim because of his status as a celebrity (fanboys) or some will go because of pictures that they use against other celebs when they don't know when the other celeb was actually measured (time of the day) but at least this is logic that is being used.but I saw some comparing to people Rob has met and some Rob hasn't met. Even with Rob as good as his judgment is he isn't perfect and nobody is. Some shoes may appear to be a certain height in ones mind but may have a bit of padding (and I'm not even talking lifts). Rob nor anyone else would see this unless they took them off. I actually have a pair that has a bit of padding as when I wore them I used to wonder why I was guessed taller (6'5-6'6 always) thinking people were just lying etc until one day I put them on to go to work after hopping out of the shower after I had recently measured a light fixture in my house at 6'6.5 (78.5"). This was prob 2015 after I had already been on this site a while. I wondered how I was close to the fixture even in the morning. At first I figured I had improperly measured the fixtures distance from the ground because I know from having played ball in college and been measured around 6'4 1/2 most times that I wasn't off. I wake up at 195.8cm roughly on a normal nights sleep so after the shower etc and getting dressed which may be half hour or so I'm probably still above 195 by a small hair since I'm only down to about 194.9 after a full hour (sometimes 195still). So one evening I measured myself in the shoes basing it off 193.9cm (My normal low) and realized that I was still 6'5.75-6'6 in those shoes and that was in the evening after I got home. This is a shoe that would appear casual not even with a heel. I presumed it was about a 1.5" gain I got which is about right as I stood in a gas station once of course not the best way to do it but was around 6'6" in them still mid to late morning when I'd be measuring somewhere around 6'4.5. That said even if another celeb was guessed by Rob he could've been a CM off in either direction higher or lower because truth is nobody knows exactly and with the time that they woke up vs when Rob did could also vary.

Back to Conan: his hair could've been counted when he was measured which could be why he says he's 6'4". I just know that anytime I've seen him next to Kobe Bryant Charles Barkley or others even guys that are on the line at 6'4" like Hoff and Lithgow and Haysbert not to mention Selleck who may or may not have been a full 6'4" and Neeson who may have been a full 6'4 at worst or even over it by a hair he is always looking up or even inflating most of them to 6'5. He asked Selleck if he's 6'4/6'5 (selleck was clearly taller than him at the intro) and there's a possibility Selleck isn't even a full 6'4". The same with Lithgow I don't remember height coming in the conversation this time but Lithgow appeared about an inch shorter than John Cleese who accurately said he's 6'4.75 himself so if he isn't quite 6'4 at his lowest he's at least 6'3.75-6'4 range. Either way Legit 6'4" guys edge Conan out. The same way an acquaintance who is a friend of a friend we measured one night claims 6'3.75 and round up to 6'4 came in around 6'3.25 or 6'3.2 at night and with a cousin who was in the military he always claimed 6'4 and wears boots often and still shorter. He admitted he measured 6'3.5 or something higher and miliTary always measures in the morning when you get to work from people who have served. Yet when we measured him same deal 6'3.25ish maybe he squeezed out a line over that but not even close enough to where he can even claim he's 6'3.5.
Adam said on 31/Jul/17
Canson, Selleck standing with Peter Herman is a 72 year old man and overweight and I agree that Selleck is no more than 6ft3 flat today. But in his prime and even until his fifties I think he might have been a good example of a 6ft4 man. Probably an even better example of 6ft4, I once again agree, is David Hasselhoff. There can be no doubts about the latter's claim and he just gives a taller impression. But I think if you had them go back to back in the eighties the difference may have been very small.
Canson said on 31/Jul/17
@Anonymous: that's just how it works. People make others taller just to make someone else a certain height. For some reason inflating someone's height is less insulting than "downgrading" someone's height in real life and here. It's crazy
Rising - 174 cm said on 31/Jul/17
I'll just add that seeing the entire video of Padalecki's recent appearance on Conan, you get a better comparison during the introduction and they do look close there.

Also, I typed my last post late so it may be confusing who which part is addressed to. For instance, I know you don't dispute Selleck at 6'3.5", Canson. Our difference is on how useful the comparison to Selleck is. Imo, you get a way better height comparison, with a significantly better angle during the greeting between Padalecki and Conan recently, though during the latter part, Jared slouches a lot. I think there's a good chance Conan is 6'3.75" or even 6'3.5" and called the 6'4.5" as a height in shoes. But 191 cm is pushing it, imo, and I still don't rule out 6'4".

Just a few more examples to Adam about how people exaggerating the height of someone means nothing, a co-star once described Vin Diesel at 6'4"! Vin was regularly listed at 6'2" in the early 2000s as well. We're talking about a man who is about 5'11.5", possibly only 5'11". Even with his Frankenstein boots and chest out as far as it can go, he's lucky to look 6'1", yet someone perceived him as 6'4". You never see him described around his actual barefoot height in the media. Kane Hodder is another guy always put between 6'3"-6'5" while he might have been 6'2" range in his prime, but he's nowhere near it now and struggles to even look 6'2" these days in built up platform boots, but it doesn't stop him from still being described 6'4" or 6'5". These things don't really mean anything. The same way you hear celebrities who are apparently shorter than expected regularly described at comically low figures. An actress who was in Escape from L.A. with Kurt Russell insisted he was 5'3". That's one of probably dozens of examples I could give. Selleck claiming 6'4" a lot doesn't contradict his 6'3.5" claims in the least. We tend to forget that outside of celebheights, half inches don't matter. Most professional sports teams don't even list them in their media guides. 6'3.5" is basically the same as 6'4" to most. If the average person asks you your height, they often won't expect you to go into quarter or half inches.

But in general, I still need to see the Neeson comparison when it's available again online. At least I can find some common ground with Canson also admitting the possibility of 6'3.5" for Conan. It may be my minimum and his max, but it does put people's differences in perspective when you look at it that way. Even Adam and myself are arguing about a half inch for Selleck with each of us using figures Selleck himself has both claimed. The difference is basically predicated on whether one thinks Selleck just typically rounded up most of the time and was precise on occasion, or whether he told the truth most of the time and then tried downplaying his height a half inch on occasion.
Tall In The Saddle said on 31/Jul/17
I've always felt Selleck to be a dead set legit 6'4" and, IMHO, he cleared Conan by at least 1/2" (O'Brien's bouffant hair included). Conan's customary stand up greeting of his guests is a decent window for comparison. I just viewed both Selleck and Lithgow's walk ons - little to choose between their clear advantage over O'Brien but, if forced, I would give the nod to Lithgow (= Lithgow having a slight edge over Selleck).
Then I moved to comparing how both Selleck and O'Brien stood as compared to Letterman. Again, I would give Selleck the nod in terms of holding notably greater height advantage over Letterman than what O'Brien appeared to hold.
I did notice that while Conan would stand mainly straight Selleck did have a tendency to collapse his height somewhat and a major difference in Selleck's height could be seen during the moments Selleck bothered to straighten himself right up.
I note that Cleese appeared on O'Brien's show. His appearance is chopped up into small segments on YouTube none of which include Cleese's actual walk on - that would be an interesting comparison.
Re O'Brien and Hoff back to back. With natural allowance for angle/height of shot and positions of the subjects, I think Hoff can still be interpreted as clearly taller. That Conan's head could still appear higher in the frame of reference is none too surprising or compromising to the comparison - move any view point low enough and you can make the head of any shorter subject in the foreground appear higher than the taller subject/object in the background. Besides, the actual vision of Hoff and Conan going back to back gives a more rounded impression of the perspective involved - IMO, Hoff's height advantage is obvious - remember, Conan was clearly spying a monitor during the comparison, Conan saw that he fell short, stood up on his toes for more height and then quickly receded from the comparison.

@Adam: Timestamp will take directly to where Selleck's footwear is visible: Click Here Clearly a pretty thick boot, while Conan always wore typical dress shoes. And here's a screenshot: Click Here I have a hard time believing you couldn't find this.

And Selleck did claim 6'3.5" twice. In TV Guide December 27, 1980-January 2, 1981, Volume 28, No. 52, Issue #1448 and then in 1987, he claimed 6'3.5" again in an interview with the Houston Chronicle. Rob said he saw the claim as well. I don't see what purpose downgrading his height by half an inch would serve, especially since he said 6'4" other times so it doesn't seem he's bothered by people thinking he's 6'4". Usually, the more specific figure is correct. Many will round up to the full inch anyway. Just think about how many fewer claims you hear to the half and quarter inch than full inch despite the fact there's no reason to assume there's significantly less people whose height ends with a half or quarter inch. People like round numbers. For all we know, the journalist who wrote about Selleck downplaying his height may have thought he looked taller than he is and assumed he downgraded himself. In fact, that's likely the case as admitting you shave an inch off would defeat the purpose and when you think about the statement further, it makes less sense since that would make Selleck 6'5" if he or 6'4.5" minimum if the writer was referring to the 6'3.5" claims and I don't think anyone on this site is going to try to make the case Selleck is that tall. I believe Selleck is honest about his height and just rounds up when he doesn't feel like getting specific. References to Selleck being 6'4" don't make it a documented fact or comparable to a measurement. If you look at late 80s articles, you'll find a million references to Dolph Lundgren at 6'6" and 6'5.5", including Dolph claiming each! Few questioned it back then and when you don't see him at that height, you'll almost always see him listed 6'5". Rarely, if ever, would you see him described at 6'4", which was probably closer to his real peak height. Do you really think many are going to question when a legit 6'3.5" man rounds up to 6'4"? Selleck would have still been taller than what? 98 or 99%? And how tall do you think even a fairly height aware person would have to be to tell the difference between 6'3.5" and 6'4"? Probably well over the average today, much less back in the 80s and 90s. And you'd have to be even taller for the average person not particularly height conscious to tell a relatively small difference on a man that tall. Chevy Chase is another man who claimed 6'3.5" and rounded up to 6'4" other times. I happen to believe him as well. It didn't surprise me that when Selleck appeared on his talk show in the early 90s, they seemed almost identical in height, though the comparison was too brief to say for sure.

@Canson: I'm not disputing Selleck appeared taller with the posture, angle and footwear shown in that appearance, but then the same is true of Conan appearing taller than Padalecki. Except we saw Conan on stage with Jared much longer while Conan started bending forward while reaching out to briefly shake Selleck's hand with the camera behind Selleck and closer to him than Conan. It's not like Selleck just looked a half inch or an inch taller than Conan if you compared the difference as it turned out. Selleck winds up looking like he's about 2" taller and I hope nobody here is going to claim that's accurate. The difference with Lithgow's appearance is Conan stands perfectly straight and seems to compare his height and while the camera is shot from Lithgow's side and may give him an advantage, it doesn't seem as dramatic as the Selleck appearance. Posture alone in the Lithgow appearance is a major difference. Are we really supposed to put a lot of stock in who looks taller bent forward? Angles matter as well. Talk shows don't exist for ideal height comparisons. Sometimes you get good ones, sometimes you don't really get one at all. Conan seems to bend forward quite a bit for some of his hand shakes, which may be why he looks shorter at times. That's why the Lithgow comparison is better. He straightens up and as I said, seems to compare his height to Lithgow. That's obviously much more ideal for our purpose. When you're talking about a brief encounter of a few seconds, there are any number of factors that can make the heights appearing deceptive. If you told two people to compare height, would you have them stand together for 2 seconds then walk away or would you have them stand there a bit longer while you looked and judged? There are camera angles directors employ for the sole purpose of minimizing a height difference or making an actor taller. It's doubtful talk show cameramen never unintentionally use an angle that could serve that purpose.

I don't see it as consistent at all to dismiss Conan being taller than Padalecki while then act as though the Selleck comparison is proof only a small step below a stadiometer measurement. I'm saying neither is definitive because of flaws in both, so I don't see a conflict with my position. As I said before, if necessary, I can show in a series of stills why there's never really a time in that Selleck appearance to compare him accurately to Conan if it's really going to be disputed that Conan bent forward.

I still feel that in the clip with Selleck, when he said I'm not, he got cut off. In that conversation he said "I'm not" a few times before getting the chance to say "But I'm not going to sit here and listen to you complain." I do think the fact that he floundered on saying he's 6'4" by saying "about" was admitting to being under. That's just my take on it though, and anyone is free to have their own opinion. Maybe just 6'3" is a lowball on my part, and he could be over 6'3" a bit. But again, if Conan is a solid 6'4", there are a substantial number of people that are either wearing mega chunky shoes or are fractionally taller than they say. And I don't think that is likely, as more people that I know round up rather than down.
Canson said on 29/Jul/17
@Adam: I think Conan with Lithgow is more convincing than Selleck. Lithgow I wouldn't necessarily argue being a full 6'4. Whereas Selleck stated once he's 6'3.5 and today can look it although he may have been a full 6'4" at his peak. I look at Conan in pics and compared them with myself (just about 194cm) in pics along with someone like my dad who is like 192.5-193 today (was similar to Hasselhoff peak at around 6'4-6'4 1/8ish). Conan even with his insanely long legs doesn't look as tall as me or even him. I'd put Conan around 191 (6'3.25) which makes sense if he measured in the morning he would be 6'3.5-6'4 zone and could have either been rounded up or his hair was counted. I had longer hair at one point and someone told me Once that I he was solid 6'5 when the only real advantage he had on me was his thick hair and when I always measure right below the 194 mark in the evening

I am going to amend some of what I said before and actually give Conan 6'3". Because next to Selleck, he looks nearly an inch shorter and the same height as Ted Danson looked next to Selleck. I think Danson was 6'3" at peak. I haven't personally seen it, but I recall someone mentioning Ted Danson on Conan, and the two of them being the same height or even Danson looking just a hair taller. They were trying to argue a height of 6'5" for Danson on that basis.
Canson said on 29/Jul/17
Adam, this whole thing about people especially multiple actors etc downplaying their heights is exaggerated. They don't. The truth is that most people overestimate how tall someone is which is the case with Selleck. As for the 6'3.5 that's something that Rising Force posted previously. He may really be 6'4" at his peak but maybe not. Today Rob has him 6'3.5 and that may or may not be actual as well. I do know if you compare Selleck to Tom hermann it's at least a 1.5" maybe 2" difference and Hermann himself is 6'5" (at least he claims it). This whole people downplaying their heights across this site tho is out of control. People just don't want to admit that guys like Conan or Jimmy Kimmel aren't really as tall as they claim to be so they compensate by inflating others
Adam said on 28/Jul/17
Canson, Selleck is also quoted as having downplayed his height. On that point, we have reports of Selleck's height at 6ft7 (nonsense but nonetheless listed by his basketball team many moons ago), 6ft6 by Frank Bruno standing right next to him (nonsense again), 6ft5 (a newspaper claim, again nonsense). There are however close to a million references 😊 of Selleck standing at 6ft4. Selleck himself has mentioned this height in so many interviews that I stopped counting. Never seen or heard him claim 6ft3,5. If so, I refer you back to the first sentence above. As far as the evidence goes, Selleck's screenshot with Conan on stage, in my opinion, is the most convincing testimony of somebody claiming 6ft4 clearly edging Conan. Have a look on Youtube of another appearance of Selleck on Conan's show on 5/20/04. The same holds true when Selleck was already close to 60 years old.
Canson said on 27/Jul/17
@Adam: I remember Rising posted where Selleck claimed 6'3.5 once as well which he quoted so it's likely a truth. Selleck was taller than Conan by a bit so even if there was an advantage assuming boots and dress shoes it still likely puts Conan no more than maybe 6'3.5 but I'd still say with other celebs such as lithgow Kobe Charles Barkley Liam Neeson that he looks strong 6'3 (6'3.25) meaning 6'4" out of bed which makes perfect sense if he were measured earlier in the day he likely would be 6'3.5 or over which could've been rounded up to 6'4" or he could've rounded up. Likely his claim isn't a real lie per se it's a round up on his part on an earlier measurement. He just doesn't add up with other 6'4" guys who can really measure that height. Then again maybe he does claim his shoes since he mentioned 6'4/6'4 1/2 once and we know he was never that tall since he was clearly shorter than all of those guys none of which were ever 6'4.5 themselves
Anonymous said on 27/Jul/17
Rob has 6'4" claiming Billy Campbell listed at 6'3.25" and that looks accurate. It looks like he would be even with Conan.
Anonymous said on 27/Jul/17
There are times Conan has given me a taller impression (probably hair), but next to a lot of other celebrities, I think 6'3.25" is an accurate estimation. Conan next to a 5'5.5" listed Dave Franco looked tall, but not freakishly so. Compared to Jeremy Clarkson who is somewhere between 6'4.5" and 6'5" today and Richard Hammond listed the same as Dave Franco, and Clarkson is head and shoulders above. Conan doesn't look that tall.
Adam said on 27/Jul/17
Rising, would you care to present us with proof of Selleck's "thick shoes" in the clip with Conan? I din't see it, try as I might.
Canson said on 26/Jul/17
Rising he was clearly shorter than Selleck
Rising - 174 cm said on 26/Jul/17
@Anonymous: I agree, it also seemed to me he was cut off during the "I'm 6-4, but I'm not." Conan had said seconds before to Selleck, "I'm about your height" so it was never stated by Conan that he was shorter. If he had wanted to say that, it would have made more sense for him to say "I'm a bit shorter than you" or "I'm almost as tall as you." The only thing I could see possibly interpreted as Conan believing Selleck to be taller is guessing him in a range of 6'4"-6'5" while Conan has never claimed to be 6'4" himself. Of course, this could be because Selleck had thick boots while Conan had dress shoes, so even if they were the same height barefoot, Selleck would appear a bit taller in their footwear. I'm convinced Conan's thought was that while Conan is similarly tall to Selleck, he's lanky, awkward, not good looking, smooth etc. That makes the most sense given the context preceding it with Conan comparing the two in high school, their success with women etc. Admittedly, neither of us can say beyond our own personal interpretation as we haven't had the opportunity to ask Conan, nor can we read minds so it remains conjecture.

Wow, the Padalecki video is a surprise. Conan does look taller, but does have a 1 cm or so footwear advantage. Just when I was starting to think he's under 6'4", I have to still consider 6'4" possible. But it's also true that Padalecki doesn't really straighten up so that's really similar to a reverse of the Selleck comparison in that now it's the man Conan is compared to who has less footwear and never straightens up. I definitely disagree that the Selleck video is better, though as Conan himself never straightens up when he's near Selleck and Selleck is closer to the camera the way it's positioned. If necessary, I can demonstrate this with an almost step by step post in stills of when they shake hands, but I'd rather avoid that as it'd be slightly more time consuming than I like on an entertainment site. And with the Hasselhoff video, I still don't see Hasselhoff taller in the video. Now it may very well be that the angle favors Conan, but it's impossible to say what the difference would be then with a neutral angle.

But I still do say that viewing the videos, Lithgow generally seemed taller and Conan guessing Neeson 6'5" does suggest he felt Liam is taller, but I haven't been able to view the full video where I can compare them yet. If it gets to the point where there's enough 6'4" guys taller than Conan then I could see him definitely below 6'4", much like I'm convinced Mario Lopez is under 5'9" from seeing him shorter than so many roughly 5'9" guys.

I do wholeheartedly agree with Tall in The Saddle about needing to view a number of pics and videos, but I think we have to apply this equally. The Selleck comparison is at least as flawed as the Hemsworth comparison due to posture and angle and in the Hasselhoff instance, like I said previously, if you can't tell Hasselhoff is taller from the top of their heads then I just can't see any way to use that as evidence he's taller. And I'm not necessarily saying he isn't, but if it's not evident from the top of their heads then an angle simply isn't that good and should be taken with a grain of salt since the top of your head is where height is measured. I suspect they're very close, but there is a good chance Conan never was a full 6'4" except in the morning while it's pretty much agreed Hoff was and may still be a legit 6'4".

Thanks Tall in the Saddle! I enjoy reading your posts as well. One thing with this site is pictures are used quite often and that being said they are not always used the right way meaning objectively. Can't count how many times a poster uses a pic with someone who is clearly favored etc to make that person taller generally
Tall In The Saddle said on 25/Jul/17
@Canson -Thanks, I enjoy reading your appraisals. Hemsworh is tough for me also as he often wears minimal heel and he tends not to stand perfectly straight. If disingenuous, I could've offered a full length pic in which Hemsworth appears to have close to an inch on Goldblum but in the total scheme of things I don't think that could be right. I like to estimate given a number of pics/videos and over a number of reference points, I see little to choose between Liam and the older Goldblum. To be fair, most of the pics/vids I've seen of O'Brien and Goldblum go back about 10 years or so - in those pics/vids, Jeff, prob his early 50s at that time, definitely appeared clearly taller than O'Brien. I recently watched a video from 2016 and in this particular clip Conan "appears" to possibly have an edge on Goldblum or at least equal to Goldblum's height but again, the usual suspects such as angles, footwear, postures all come into play. I still feel Goldblum has held his height well but possibly, now in his early to mid 60s he's lost a touch of height - I'm not sure. He was certainly clearly taller than O'Brien going back a few years. I would be interested in people's opinions. This is the link to the clip:-

@Tall in the Saddle: interesting comparisons! Very good ones too! I'm stumped on the Hemsworth comparison just because the pics are a bit inconclusive. Meaning he did appear taller at times than Conan in comparison with others or even with him. For peak estimates I think the 6'4.25 was Goldblum's peak and he'd be a morning 6'4.5 guy (2 or 3 hours out of bed). He could dip to 6'4 1/8 but I honestly can see him as a 6'5 out of bed too. To me Jeff looks an inch taller than Conan but for Hemsworth I've never been able to accurately gauge his height or his brothers honestly
Canson said on 24/Jul/17
@Anonymous: he clearly said I'm 6'4 but I'm not. He said it in response to Selleck being 6'4" and taller than him. I do agree Conan is not close to 6'2" and is def closer to 6'4" but 6'3.25 suits him well especially given he admitted he's taller than Selleck and Selleck has said to being 6'3.5 before and 6'4. I'd put him at 6'3.75 personally and Conan 1/2" shorter
Tall In The Saddle said on 24/Jul/17
@Canson - I note you view Goldblum as a strong 6'4" (I agree) - I'm guessing you mean at peak and I'm not sure at what height you might rate Goldblum in more recent times - imo, even into his early 60s, Jeff appears to have held on to the better part of his peak height (which might've actually been 6'4 & 1/2" at best). Goldblum's my strongest reference point for affording Liam Hemsworth being very close to if not 6'4" himself. There appears very little to choose between Hemsworth and Goldblum in terms of height based upon the many pics and several videos I've seen of the two together. So close in height it seems that depending on posture, angle etc, either one can hold the slightest edge over the other from pic to another. I've also compared how Hemsworth measures up to Goldblum as compared to how O'Brien did and Hemsworth appears a lot closer (if not equal) to Goldblum's height than O'Brien ever did.
Just curious on your thoughts as to this comparison. Thanks.

When Conan said "I'm 6'4" but I'm not..." it seemed like he got cut off from another thought. I'm not certain he meant to say that he wasn't actually 6'4", but that he wasn't something else. Like he was going to say "I'm 6'4" but I'm not as tall as you." Or "I'm 6'4" but I'm not hungry right now." (I'm pretty sure that last one isn't what would have been thinking though). But his inflection made me think it was some unfinished thought and not that he was confessing to be under 6'4". I do believe Conan is close to 6'4" than he is to 6'2" though.

@Tall In the Saddle: I agree with everything you said. Jared to me is legit 6'4" at least from looking at him. Also another poster about my height Bobby3342 (another strong 6'4" guy) met him and said he's a good 6'4" not a weak one. Said he couldn't see any difference with him. I don't question Jared as much but Conan always comes up short next to others and if Kobe and Barkley both appear that much taller (I know people who have met both). Barkley according to a close friend himself has seen him twice and he's 6'3" himself said it's maybe 1.5" difference and he's about the same size as I am (I'm a solid afternoon 194cm and fall to 6'4.25 some days at night). Another person said he's 6'4/6'5 as have his former teammates. This same person met Kobe and gave him "about 6'5" which corroborates a 6'4.75 being maybe his lowest. Kobe appears taller than Barkley in a pic last year. I used to think Kobe was my size because of how he appeared with Jordan (roughly my size 6'4.5 for him prob) and footwear can offset 1/2" diff but seeing more pics he is close enough to 195 even if he falls a bit under at night possibly. The thing that stands out with Conan is his insistence that the true 6'4"s are taller than that like him asking Selleck what are you 6'4/6'5? When selleck has also even claimed 6'3.5 before as well (maybe a downplay but maybe not). Conan conceded that selleck is taller than him as is lithgow but in the video with Conan and Jared the same can be said that it favors conan along with shoe advantage he had. I can agree with 184guy he's also said he's prob not a full 6'4" himself but that he's over a flat 6'3 (he estimated him 191.5-193). I'd prob go with he's 6'4" out of bed and 6'3.25 at his lowest (191cm). The thing here is that every 6'4" is not equal. Some claim shows some measure early morning at 6'3.5-.75 and round up then some like Hasselhoff and lithgow really look 6'4" at their lowest same with a guy like Goldblum who looks a bit stronger a 6'4" imho 193-193.7 prob

@SJH - unfortunately I haven't seen a decent clip with Hemsworth and O'Brien standing together - If anyone could point me to same that would be great.
@184guy fair call on the footwear and Conan does appear taller but agree with Canson that Jared for the most part doesn't stand straight until the very end of the clip - if you freeze at that point it seems Jared might have the slightest edge though Conan himself isn't standing perfectly straight at that point. I will say if Jared is 6'4" (I haven't really see enough of that guy to estimate) that clip does lend itself to the argument that Conan is at least taller than 6'3" flat.
The angle of the clip with Lithgow and O'Brien might advantage Lithgow a bit but I think it still reflects Lithgow as clearly taller. Lithgow's claim of 6'4" is corroborated by pics of Lithgow alongside 6' 4 & 3/4" John Cleese with Cleese appearing to have near enough to a 1" advantage but certainly no more than that.
It's tough to find the perfect pic to proffer as evidence for any celeb - different pics of the same two celebs can often see them swapping honours as to who actually appears taller at any given time - angles, footwear, postures are never perfectly equal from one photo to the next.

@Anonymous: I don't necessarily know if insecure but maybe he is who knows. The one giveaway tho is that he always asks legit 6'4" guys and a Strong 6'5" like Wlad Klitechko and he inflates them before they come back at 6'4". I think tho in this case it could be a matter of different times of the day or that Conan measures under 6'4" like he alluded to saying he's 6'4 but he's not and that is a morning height for him. My opinion tho is he's a well proportioned or maybe not (his legs are longer than average) I'm a true 6'4" and change and only wear a 35ish inseam and his legs are prob a 38. A guy with longer legs at that size will appear to be a bit taller than he really is on screen. I can agree somewhat with 184guy but have to say that it's likely a morning height based on how he comes up with guys like Hoff Lithgow and Selleck and Haysbert and Neeson. Kobe Barkley look an easy 1.5-2" taller (I surmise 1.5 for Kobe maybe but a little less for Barkley probably). I'd give Kobe a 195cm guy who can prob dip a mm or two or 3 under at night or could still be bang on 194.95 at night to bring him 6'4.75 like his wife measured him whereas Barkley measured 6'4 5/8. Oddly one pic of Barkley and Conan they looked the exact same just about but the video shows Barkley a bigger advantage like 1.5"

I remember someone post those camera advantage picture and video clip claim that Conan is much taller than Liam. I disagree with it and from my view of them i agree with you he is as tall as Conan but could be fraction lower. I don't think Liam beat out Conan and certainly they're not 0.75' apart that much just a big fraction max.

@Canson - we're on the same page. As I stated in my last post, IMO Conan is 6'3" or a touch over but clearly WISHES to be viewed as 6'4". I still hold that Liam Hemsworth who does generally slink his posture is at least O'Brien's height if not taller (I believe taller) but understand others disagree with that particular comparison.
S.J.H said on 18/Jul/17
I can relate that Conan may have measure in the morning at 6'3.75" round up 6'4 and usually holding it solid 6'3.25" that added Charles Barkley and Kobe Bryant both would measure 6'5.25" in the morning and hold a strong 6'4.75" range

Tall In The Saddle said on 17/Jul/17
6'3" or so is nothing to sneeze at but Conan would feel insecure when his self claimed "height" of 6'4" is often contradicted by legit 6'4" guests who are clearly taller than himself. Conan has an obvious height fixation. His guests clearly do not have the same fixation but they do hold clear conviction as to what their actual height is when it is addressed. The guests don't even mention their height until Conan asks and despite Conan's attempts to maintain his own status quo (6'4") and encourage his taller guests to inflate their heights above 6'4" (which is a direct acknowledgement by O'Brien himself that his guests are clearly taller), the guests remain true to what they know their actual heights to be - a rock solid and true 6'4".

Conan is 6'3" or a touch over but he appears to want to be that bit taller - and 6'4" seems to be the magic mark he aspires to.

@Canson I think there is still a lot of height competition and the attitude of taller being better or more impressive in the entertainment industry. I still don't understand why height is that important. If someone is significantly taller than me (I do know a 6'10" person and I come to just below his eyebrows. It's pretty neat.) or significantly shorter, it doesn't mean anything about the person. It's like what eye color a person has. It doesn't change who a person is. Some people might have different preferences according to eye color, but in the end, it doesn't really mean anything. It doesn't make Conan any less of anything to measure under 6'4". But he seems to feel insecure about it.
Canson said on 11/Jul/17
@Joe: thanks! It's very true because Conan is edged by every 6'4" on his show. He always inflates the other person too that is truly 6'4". He said Selleck was 6'4/6'5 to him and when Selleck said "I'm 6'4" he asked Conan how tall he was before Conan said "I'm almost as tall as you"acknowledging he's shorter. Select also said he's 6'3.5 before too and that was earlier on in his career. (Rising Force provided the quote once). Maybe he's 6'3.75 or a full 6'4 but that still puts Conan tops 6'3.5 like others guess and let's face it 6'3.25 and 6'3.5 there is no difference between the two especially if he measures 6'3.25 at his lowest he would easily appear 6'3.5 to some since he'd be 6'4 out of bed. I don't necessarily call Conan a liar on his but when a legit 6'4" at his lowest like Lithgow or Hoff stands next to him it's prettt clear he's not as tall
Canson said on 11/Jul/17
@Anonymous: to be fair tho if Conan measures 6'3.5 and sees 6'3.25 maybe a few hours later he is within reason since he measured it
Canson said on 11/Jul/17
@Anonymous: yea I don't believe Rob ever met Conan. But he did meet Hoff. Conan more than likely rounded an early measurement but also has long hair. He said 6'4/6'4.5 once and also said he's 6'4 but he's not so could be an early measurement where he measured that sub 6'4 and rounded up which is also fair because really nobody is that specific outside of celbheights. That could also mean he's 6'3.25 just the same as .5 though at that stage. I agree Maybe he's over a flat 6'3 but He can be 6'3.25 at a low if he measured 6'3.5 earlier in the day Since we don't know when the others like Hoff were measured. That's my opinion at least but based on how he looked with Neeson or any of those guys or Kobe or Barkley appeared more 1.5" with the weak 6'5" guys like Barkley amen kobe and an inch with Neeson. 1/2-3/4 with Selleck. Hoff could look about the same or more but it wasn't the greatest angle. The other person to remember he measures with is Lithgow he is also taller when they were in front of each other. As stated earlier it could be a matter of those guys measuring a hair over which I doubt all of them did or a couple could be sub 6'4" as well. Rob met Hoff and he pegged him as 6'4" solid. But someone making a comment like the one made below yours where others are ignorant is very foolish because there is that unknown of when people were measured and at that point the poster is essentially inflating others just to make Conan 6'4 or clearly ignoring evidence or diminishing it
Anonymous said on 10/Jul/17
Tom Selleck saying both 6'3.5" and 6'4" probably means that he got measured both of those on different occasions. 6'3.5" might have been a low for him or a bad measurement, but the fact that he said that would lead a person to believe that he wouldn't be over 6'4". And I thought he looked a decent or perhaps a hair under 6'4" in his Magnum days. But that would put Conan at under 6'4". My personal guess for Conan would be 6'3.5" because he can look it often enough, and claiming 6'4" would be rounding rather than an outright upgrade. The fact the he has said 6'4.5" could be that he measured that in shoes which would put him at 6'3.5" or a hair over without the shoes. That's my view, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, if Rob met Conan and saw him as a full 6'4", I would accept it because he is a very good judge of height.

Zach is a legit 6'3 guy ( Rob met him in person and if antthing , he looked taller than Chris Hemsworth in a movie premiare ). Conan Had him by 2 inches but probably had at least 0.6 footwear advantage . That shows how he can look a legit 6'4 at times despite looking in fact shorter than Hasslehoff. He also looked taller than Liam Hemsworth who is a strong 6'3 guy . So In my opinion antthing in the 191.5 - 193 is possible .

@Micky: the thing is most people here don't wanna believe that. Instead the inflate guys like Selleck or Neeson to make Conan closer to 6'4. Trust me I believe you that he's max 6'3.25. People also don't understand that height varies. They think everyone measures the way we do here where we claim our lows. Most outside don't. They go to the doctor even in the morning and get a number and will round it up so won't add up with a legit 6'4" if he's 6'3.25 at his low

@Willies when I saw him in person in 2015, I got a 6-3.5 impression from him (without comparing footwear). This can be plus or minus a fraction but I would be shocked if he was over 6-4 or under 6-3.25. To me those are the upper and lower limits of what I can imagine. I am in the 6-3 range myself so I can judge it pretty accurately compared to most.

The thing is, I drink copious amounts of water every day. I don't think I have an issue with being dehydrated. I may have issues with the spinal cord or vertebrae, as I've been to the hospital with back spasms. I have had numerous spasms over the years. But, I don't know for sure if it's related to my height loss. I have a 36.5" inseam, and that never changes. So my height loss is all in my back.
Canson said on 5/Jul/17
@Anonymous: that doesn't sound good. You may have a bad back problem that is affecting the spinal cord or vertebrae if you lose that much. I have back issues as well but even with them I typically still am within spec as far as what everyone else loses (usually right around 3/4" unless I go to the gym then it's 2.1 cm right after and usually jumps back to where it's only a solid 2cm if I sit for a while)Even at an absolute low I've lost like 2.6cm maybe 2.7) 193.1 or 193.2. That's odd to drop almost 2" from a normal low. Usually someone can drop it on their feet for a very substantial period of time another full cm possibly but that's extreme it if it's a full 3/8 of an inch meaning you would probably had to have been dehydrated in addition to being on your feet almost nonstop with no reprieve

I hadn't thought about this for a while because I thought it was all posture related, but after I became more interested in checking the past week or so thinking 6'2" was my highest, my height has continued to fluctuate even when trying to stay straight. My highest this week was 6'4" fully at 9:00 PM and my lowest was 6'2.25" at 5:00 PM on a different day.

Thank you very much for your input, Christian. I had a very strange experience this evening. I was with a friend who is a basketball player. He's 6'4" with a 6'7" wingspan. I had him help me with my measurement. I looked shorter than he did, and then I did a quick toe-touch and tried to straighten up and then I looked taller than he did, briefly. Later, I returned to looking shorter and he measured me at 6'3.5". I tried to stay as straight as possible. When I was 14-15, I measured just under 6'3" and my height seemed pretty consistent then next to my father who was the same height. Since I finished growing, I've gotten constant different afternoon barefoot measurements that go back and forth from shorter to taller; since I finished growing the tallest was 6'4.75" and the shortest since then was 6'1.5" I really don't know what's going on. I don't have a more-consistent height now it seems. My height seems to constantly change from one day to the next in comparison to people I know. Some days it almost looks like I tower over my father and some days he's a little taller than I am. I have a lot of health issues and terrible back pain, and even though I'm thin-ish, I'm horrendously out of shape from lack of exercise. Maybe all that contributes, I don't know.

Conan's tall all right, but not quite 6'4". I think what fools a lot of people is that in many (the overwhelming majority, actually) shots of him for example in the YouTube clips the other people are simply so much shorter.

I actually have a decent comparison: I have a couple of pictures of me with a friend of mine who says he's 6'3.25. Incidentally he also has the kinda similar tall hairstyle that Conan has (which also fools a lot of people). The difference in height between me and this friend of mine looks VERY similar to the difference between Conan and the countless celebrities who are my height (6'0"). [By the way, Andy Richter is NOT 6'0.5" as he is listed here... at least not anymore. I saw him standing right next to Conan on the show a few days ago and I'd say he's probably very slightly below 6 ft. Conan's eye level was at the top of Andy's head].

I also have another friend who's 6'5.75" who of course REALLY dwarfs me, but Conan is definitely nowhere near that tall. In conclusion, Conan is 6'3.25, not more. Still tall like I said but we like to be precise don't we?

It is very tall, no less than 192 cm.

@Anonymous

You should claim the height that you measure most frequently. If the majority of your measurements are 6'4", then claiming 6'4" is best.

I would say he looked an honest 6'3.5", but I didn't look to compare footwear. So give or take a fraction. This was 2015.

I saw Conan in person 2 years ago. I am a tall guy of similar height to Conan so I can spot it well. He gave off an impression of being pretty close his stated 6'4" - but probably just a little less. I would be very surprised if he measured above 193 cm or below 191.

I had someone else do it and they said 6'4". But, there are also days when I'm even shorter out of bed than I was the night before. Combined with intense back pain. I'm not sure what the cause is. I can tell by photos of myself with others of known height. My mother is 5'6.5" and there are times she comes up to my Adam's Apple and other times she's above my bottom lip. With me standing at my tallest and both of us without shoes. I really think the best height for me to claim is "over 6 foot" because I really don't know from one day to the next.

@Anonymous: at the doctor's office or gym maybe have someone do it a few diff times to see how much the measurements vary. Other thing you could do is mark off a line on the wall for inches or get a height sheet and use a mirror

If you do the tape measure/spray can method, you might want to measure your floor with a spirit level to see if the floor's perfectly level or not. Even the slightest tilt can alter your measurement significantly. I measured 6'5 3/8" afternoon in one room, but got only 6'5" in another, but I checked the floor of the second room and it wasn't level.

I met Jimmy Kimmel in person and 100% sure he is 2cm off the listing in this site at 5'10.5 so Conan O'Brien who had like near 5' on Kimmel is guaranteed not over 191cm and probably always measure 192cm in the morning and rounded up saying 6'4 and old tales again he look solid 4cm lower than Charles Barkley who is not 6'6 but 6'4-5/8

Whoops, I messed up on my name. Sorry, I'm exhausted. I'm just anonymous because I'm not creative enough to come up with anything else.

Yeah, my nurse deducted an inch and said 6'5". The funny thing is, I checked my self with a tape the other day just after noon and I was 6'4.25". Then, another day at same time, I was 6'3.5". Just yesterday, 6'2". I'm not sure what's going on. I used Rob's methods and put marks down and they are all over the place. I'm confused. No shoes every time and standing as straight as I can.
Canson said on 26/Jun/17
@Anonymous: I've only measured with shoes in basketball. The doctors office my wife and I went to once measured her in shoes tho as the nurse didn't bother to ask for them to come off. It was a morning appointment tho and she was measured 5'9 in sneakers. That probably would put her with 5'8 or a smidge more at that point (she's 5'7.75 after I measured her in the late afternoon). Think we had been up 2 hours or so at that point. I only have had one nurse say well you don't have to take your shoes off I'll deduct. I took them off anyway.

no more 189cm. he is smaller than alexander skarsguard.
Anonymous said on 25/Jun/17
@Canson: Exactly! I got 6'6" in shoes one time (way off but I don't know why). Possibly Conan is going off a shoe or bad measurement. But I think you have nailed the possibilities down quite astutely.
Canson said on 25/Jun/17
@Anonymous: I agree maybe that was the case and with all of his hair that is a possibility that it was the case. I think the other possibility would be that he was all along a guy 6'4" out of bed and 6'3.25 at night and maybe measures in between earlier in the day and is simply rounded up to 6'4" by whoever measured him. When he said 6'4-6'4.5 that's gotta be in shoes as he's never as tall as Hasselhoff or Lithgow which leads me to believe he's really more like 191cm which to many people can look 6'4" if you see 10 guys that size in a room im sure that 5 out of those 10 if measured earlier will round up or may have been rounded up By a doctor or nurse. If I were to go the doctor in the morning I would be given 6'5" whereas if I measure in the afternoon 6'4 since I dip under half at that stage to 3/8.

I think he's a decent 6'4'' guy, if he's shorter is not by much...
