He comes out with so many amusing things, but the terribly sad ending has my stomach in knots every time.

@Kirill-6’0 you do realise that it’s not Pedro Pascal in the suit? He only provides the voice when he isn’t filming scenes with his helmet off, plus he was filming the last of us during the mandalorian production I believe.

I'm currently watching season 3 episode 6 of The Mandalorian. The stooped Christopher Lloyd is about 2 inches taller than Pedro Pascal in the Mandalorian helmet at 32 minutes. So Lloyd is clearly more like 185 cm now. Or Pedro Pascal 173-175 cm, which I can't believe.

Christopher Lloyd’s is a nice, friendly face to greet me this fine Saturday morning!

I’d never have thought he was all of 6ft1 when I saw him in the brilliantly memorable β€˜One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’ the first few viewings. I saw it extremely frequently during my elongated stay with my Dad in 2005, yet neither of us ever grew tired of it; our taste in films was identical. β™ŠοΈ

Peak: 6ft1; today: 5ft11.5. 😁

I genuinely think he was somewhere in the 185 to 186 range in his prime max and now a weak 5'11 could be in that 5'10.5 to 5'10.75 range now.

Peak: 6'1.25
Now: 5'10.75

Probably 6’0.75 or 6’1 peak but now he honestly looks under 5’11.He probably measures 5’10.5 when standing tall today but with bad posture can easily look 5’10.He just didn’t look much if any taller than bob odenkirk and looked similar to Clooney in photos from last year.

Given that aged 70 (at the time of the photo) he still looked near 6', I think it is pretty much safe to say that he had to be 6'+ at his peak, but maybe a chance of 6'0.5?
It's funny that in Back to the Future the difference between him and Fox never looked particularly big (as much as 9 inches or so), but then again he slouched big time in just about every scene he had with him, probably precisely in order to reduce it. Paradoxically, this outtake scene is probably the only scene where you can tell how big it actually was: Click Here

Lloyd was closer to 6ft in person the first time I seen him, but through 70 to 80 I think lost another inch, he looks more frail in last couple of years.

Same thing with George Romero, the 8-9 years between seeing him, he shrunk 2 inches and was very frail towards his last couple of years.

It's tricky estimating his height based just on BTTF since he's mostly in scenes with Michael J. Fox who is in any case less than 5'7... There's a really big difference to begin with, whatever it is exactly. Also Fox wore Converse or something similar with basically zero lift and Lloyd wore those bulky boots with the lab suit...

I'd say peak: 6'0.25". By the way this is actually a nice example of realistic height loss, the listings, the pictures, the guesses. NOT 5 inches by age 50 like some people desperately claim on many pages here, but a sensible ONE inch at age 70. Today, now that he's almost 80, he's definitely lost a little more but about 2 yrs ago when he was on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show in that one skit he didn't look short. Probably still close to 5'11.
Anonymous said on 31/Aug/17
Nowadays next to Rob and Jenny (174 cm) Lloyd seems still a strong 182 cm so probably he was in the 185cm o 6'1 mark when he was young.
He has a bad posture in some movies because he lives the roles very much. Excellent actor especially for comic roles. I'll never forget his best roles like Dr. Emmett in back to the future and Uncle Fester " The Addams Family"

He could have been a full 6 foot 1 guy but i think 1/4 under this is better listing. I cant really see him taller than a guy like cena.

Re: My comment from the 4th June:
The young lad in the Christopher Lloyd film 'I am Not A Serial Killer' works in a family-run funeral business.
It was completely wrong of me to say that it was 'morbid'! The only thing that IS morbid, however, is the state of the bodies that have been brought in for burial. They looked liked they'd been autopsied by a first-year medical student on acid! I only realised the nature of the business later on in the film....
World Citizen said on 5/Jun/17

I said on 27th December last that I would be over the moon to see Christopher Lloyd in another - recently made - film! Well, I am doing just that right now! It is a black comedy about a young lad who works in his family's morbid, death-related business and instead of it turning his stomach as it would with most people, it seems to be doing quite the opposite!
Furthermore, there is a serial killer on the loose in his little town, which means more bodies are being delivered to his family's business for him to peruse in fascination!
Christopher is an old, happily married and respected member of the community, but he is an oddball! He also looks taller than ever, but then I did notice him wearing an extremely chunky pair of shoes, which probably elevate his height by some one-and-a-half inches, but not many old men would be fit and strong enough to wear heavy things like that, not to mention use the apparatus he is using in the local gym - and with such gusto!
No, all is definitely not right with Chris's character! I observed that he had his picture up - as an ageing student - holding a doctorate or something similar, so that tells us that he is intelligent, another box ticked on the list of requirements common to serial killers!
So is he or isn't he? I'll have to watch the rest and find out!
One thing I have found out though is that Christopher Lloyd is still making films for us, which I'm very happy about! He is also still fighting fit and doesn't seem to have lost much from his stature over time. I'm going along with 6ft now and 6ft1 for his peak. πŸ™†πŸ‘

I simply love this actor! Ever since I saw his laughing, eccentric, fun-loving character in 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest', I've been pretty much hooked on him! I will watch films I wouldn't usually see because he's in the cast!
I never thought terribly long and hard about his height, but it makes sense that he topped 6ft in his younger days! He looks very tall next to Fox (bless him!) in the 'Back to the Future' films, but in 'One Flew Over...' the only guy to really stand out on the height front was Will Sampson! Next to Will, everyone else looked small!
It would be great to see Christopher in another film in the not too distant future. He's ACE! πŸ‘Œ

As I believe someone pointed out in this thread, Lloyd, as "Jim" on TV's "Taxi" once stated- on that famous episode that took place at the DMV ("Slow Down" LMAO)- his height at 5'10". Now granted, this was probably similar to Woody Harrelson as Woody Boyd on TV's "Cheers" stating his height at 6 foot, and similar to Ray Romano on TV's "Everybody Loves Raymond" stating his height at 6' as well- just served the purpose of the written episode of that series. Now let's all assume Lloyd is over 5'10", I just don't see him (even at peak height) at a solid 6'1" with no shoes on- maybe 6'-6'0 1/2"-?? There was a movie I saw him in with 5'11" John Ritter, and he looked about an inch taller, however if memory serves correct, he may have had cowboy boots on-?? And FTR- here are my estimates for the cast of "Taxi":

Judd Hirsch- 5'11" (sloucher, so may have appeared 5'10" in spite of his 6' official height)
Tony Danza- 5'9" (looked closer to his official height listing [at one time] of 5'10" on TV's "Who's The Boss" since mostly surrounded by women & children)
Jeff Conaway- 6'0" (character Bobby Wheeler usually had boots on and big hair which may have made him appear 6'1" or 6'2")
Andy Kaufman- 6'0"
Randall Carver- 5'8"
Danny DeVito- 4'10"

If Julia was 6'1.75-2", then Lloyd was 6'0.5" (for sure) or maybe 6'0.75" when was young, but not a flat 6'1". Today he could be in the 5'11.5" range.

He hasn't aged much in about 15/20 years!

He's likely slipped below the 6'0 mark now though. Weak 6'1 peak.

that's not a proper 6'0, really 182, tallish guy
PPS said on 2/Jun/14
In the second series of Taxi as Reverend Jim, he refers to himself as 5 ft 10. It seems unlikely that an actor of 6 ft 1 would do that, or that the others should all agree with him...

yeah today he could be that, actually my pic was 6 years ago, I think now at 75 he could have dropped another fraction.

Santa Barbara or Santa Monica pier, can't remember which one it was, it might have been Barbara, one of them. Don't remember much about the place except the filming and that their pizza sucked!
Arch Stanton said on 26/Jul/13
Full 6'1" peak in my opinion. Watch him barefoot next to Vincent in Cuckoo's Nest. 3 inches shorter roughly. On my mother's life I saw him on Santa Monica pier shooting My Favourite Martian in June 1997 and he looked noticeably tall I thought at the time. See him also in cowboy boots and a hat in Back to the Future III , gives the impression of 6'3"-6'4" in that film with the boots and hat.

To be fair they both had cowboy boots. In this pic here Click Here
I could see him maybe 1.5 - 2 inches under.

Thomas F Wilson has claimed 6'2 and 6'3, and is listed 6'2.5 on this site, so let's give him that. So from looking at him with the Doc I would say Lloyd would have been 6'1 or maybe a bit under.
Arch Stanton said on 26/Dec/12
In the fight scene interestingly the Doc looks a good inch taller than 6'3" Mad Dog, although his posture isn't great. but as I say in some scenes the Doc could look very tall and near 6'4". 6'1" add cowboy boots and the hat and long western coat and his build and long face I think which made him look as tall as that in the third film.
Arch Stanton said on 25/Dec/12
Strangely looks 6'3"-6'4" at times in Back to the Future III. Must be the effect of the cowboy boots, hat and long coat.

M2 said on 20/Apr/09
Christopher Lloyd deliberately slouched in his scenes with Michael J. Fox in the "Back to the Future" films to make himself look shorter...and so they could get them both in the frame! Donald Sutherland also employs this trick with much shorter co-stars.
T.J. said on 23/Mar/09
didnt look 6'1" around Michael J. Fox, more like 5'11"/6'0".
But I've seen plenty of films were he looks a legit 6'1"
Doug said on 8/Feb/09
Yes, 4 inches is extremely rare to lose. Hell Christopher Lee is still around 6'3" at the age of 85. If he'd lost 4 inches he'd be barely over 6 foot flat!! Clint Eastwood has probably lost the most height at around 3 inches, Hulk Hogan has lost a lot of height too, but with back problems/operations it is not impossible.
Doug said on 8/Feb/09
"He looks as if he just stepped out of a coffin - very scary, unintentional though"? LOL I know what you mean, could imagine him brushing off the cobwebs. Incidentally I saw Lloyd back in 1997 filming in Santa Monica or was it Santa Barbara, anyway the crew were out on the pier and I saw Lloyd who was about 20 yards away. Looked a little taller than 6'1" in my view in shoes from what I remember, quite a tall man, but barefoot is likely to be very accurate. Probably lost an inch now haven't sene him of late to offer an estimate.

Very few men will lose 4 inches in their decade between 50 - 60 without some serious meidcal condition. Between 70 - 80 maybe buy four inches is a lot to lose, especially for a someone of average height (5'10ish).
My dad was 6'1.5" til was 72 and then he began to lose hieght fairly quickly. He's not much taller than me now (5'11.5") and he's 77.

ur jus upset coz im kickin ur ass in this thread.

men reach 50, they begin to lose height alot faster. by 60 they'll be 4 icnhes shorter. i asked my grand dad afew years back when i was younger and growing slowly. and he said "i was 5'10 and 260lbs when i was in my 20's, now im about 5'6 and 210lbs." he use to be a wrestler in ireland, autralia and finally new zealand. and he was the best arm wrestler, even beating world champions. well i think he said world champs or jus country champs

Lloyd still looks tall here, the angle is taking away a good 2 inches here.

Yeah, in the commentary on the Back to the Future DVD, they comment on how Lloyd (whom Bob Zemeckis and Bob Gale describe as 6'2"-6'4", but this is probably their overestimation) would voluntarily slouch himself down to fit into the same frame as Michael J. Fox, hence the great job of making him look shorter.
Alex said on 21/Jan/07

The 6'1" is an interesting call. There's an episode of "Taxi" where Lloyd's character is taking his driver's exam. When he gets to the height question, he says, "About 5'10"?" His cohorts respond, "Good. That's good." Should that be taken seriously??????

With all the flap over Hulk Hogan's height, go to "Suburban Commando" and compare the Hulkster to Lloyd. If 6'1" is accurate, then Hulk is in the 6'5" to 6'6" range!
