And 5'7 is in the 80th percentile for women, to be precise, less than 15% percent of women are 5'7 or taller at their peak.

Have seen pictures of her Laura Ramsey and Alexandra Breckenridge. Alexandra looks about 2" taller and she is listed here at 5'6.5" They both had heels on and its possible Alex had an inch or so more foot wear. I would put Amanda at 5'5" or so.

i've seen her in several movies and 5 ft 7 sounds right...clint, the majority of women are a little shorter than 5 ft 7.5(the height she is listed at), that's why she may almost always be taller than other women...besides, she'd have to be taller than 5 ft 9.5 to tower over a lot of people (like 5 ft 11 at least)...if she does, it's because she is often wearing massive heels...

To me, to be honest. She only looks about 5'9" or so in heels. And my stepmom is 5'8". never wears heels. So I know what 5'8" all the sites claim she is, looks like. That said, she seems to be about 5'6"

@Laura. Well, 6'1" is quite tall no matter how u look at it (except in the Netherlands perhaps?) but it's by no means a bad thing at all. More like an advantage really. I'd imagine the US would have girls and boys as tall as you or taller since it's a huge country but depending on where u go there you may see more or less. Of course they won't be as much as people shorter than you. So just be yourself and walk confidently . . . I doubt your height will be an issue there (people there have seen everything lol). So U are more likely to stand out because of something else like beauty or being athletic rather than height alone

@katie well first of all you're old for 7th grade. my eighth grade year just finished up (though I think I got held back because of medical reasons blah blah blah but I'm going to try to graduate high school a year early) and I turned 13 right before the second semester in 8th grade, but I was 5'5 when I turned 13, so you are in no way long and lanky and I know that for a fact because I'm not even long and lanky and I'm 5'6 and 13 1/2 now. People in your school just must be short because when I was in 7th grade there were multiple people that were 5'8, some 5'6, others shorter then that but there were a lot of people over 5'1. and 5'1 is petite, and the lowest height to considered 'average' at 13. And you shouldn't worry about the guy's height, they're just short right now because they haven't hot puberty, in around 10th grade they'll shoot over you like a tower.

You can't go by movies they adjust the angles so no one towers over anyone else. I'd say she's at least 5' 8" and could easily be the 5' 91/2" that is sometimes claimed.

Compare her height with sara paxton and she's just an inch taller. If you watch 'What I Like About You' you can see she went through a huge growth spurt. In the beginning she is obviously shorter than Jennie Garth (listed as 5'5") by the end of the first season Amanda and Jennie and almost the same height. By the end of the series Amanda is clearly taller than Jennie even when Garth is in heels and she has flats. Iv'e seen her listed anywhere from 5'6 to 5'10! Looking at hairspray and comparing her to zac efron, she cant be much over her listed height here. It never made sense; if zac efron was much over 5'7" he would tower over vanessa in the hsm photos. (My sister is vanessa's height and in 4 inch heels I still have a good inch on her (I'm 5'6") surprisingly Vanessa and Zac are within a couple of inches of eachother when she wears heels. I think Amanda's listed height is pretty acurate!! =]

I remember she certainly had a MAJOR growth spurt. Back when she was a kid on Nickelodeon, she was like 4'11". Then, in like a year, she grew like nine inches. She certainly LOOKs very tall for her small frame.

The thing about Amanda is that she does tend to wear very high heels. And nonetheless, she tends to look quite 'short' sometimes (not actually short, but not the 5'8" she claims) in films. Maybe 5'7"? But it's kind of hard because of her heels which are very misleading.

yes...i am 5'7.5'', too. and i think that´s a real tricky height to find out. because when i have usual shoes on i am 5'8'' or a bit taller. but people sometimes think i am almost 5'7''. i don´t know why but it´s like that. i think because if someone is a tad over 5'7'' and doesn´t stand straight, then he/she looks a bit under 5'7''. so, 5'7.5'' is a very odd height. but well.....amanda is 5'7.5'' definitely. if not she´s 5'8''.

I'm 5' 8" and skinny and some people say I look 5' 6". My aunt is 5' 6.5" and seriously thought she was taller than I was until we stood back to back. Maybe the low estimates of Amanda's height come from that. Being skinny can make you look tall, but it can also make you look short. I guess it depends on the person.

I live in australia and i have read in a Feb 2005 DOLLY magazine that she is 177 cms tall and weighs 52 kilograms and blames her strange weight loss on a growth spurt.I found that in an article about celebs being very skinny. Althought that was a couple of years ago i really doubt that she would have shrunk.

definitely 5'7" to 5'8" i live in LA and have seen her. it may be true that 5'7" is more like because she is one of those long looking people but those who are claiming they met her and are 5'7" and were much taller than her, etc. it was either all in your head or you were purposefully trying to compare heights and standing really straight and looking upwards. i think people who meet people and claim they were taller by about an inch etc are inaccurate because most likely they were the only one trying to compare and trying to make themselves as tall as possible.

Are you sure you didn't grow since the last time you were measured? In all her movies and shows, Amanda looks at least 5' 7"... I can see why some sites list her as 5' 8" or 5' 9". She is taller than most women and about 2" taller than Jennie Garth.

I met Bynes on the set of "She's The Man". I'm 5'7" in my classic Vans (low top), and she was I bit shorter than me (wearing flats too). I'd say in the 5'5" - 5'6" area.

Maybe if Frankie stood up straight in that pic he would be closer to 5' 4"? 5' 3.5" could be possible, too, but the people who think he's 5' 2" or less are being silly. I think Amanda is 5' 7".

Hi, Amanda. That was not me starting a fight. I just find it really frusterating when people say "so-and-so SAID they were *blank* in height." It doesn't matter if they have done so multiple times. People will consistently lie. And it's not a "fact" that Frankie is 5'4. It's your opinion. But you give me some proof with him next to supposed 5'4 stars, and I'll give it a look. You can post it on his page. Honestly, I don't look at Frankie Muniz very much. Logic has just told me he is probably under, and since I've thought Amanda was closer to 5'6.5, him being under 5'4 went along with that. I don't like to exaggerate his shortness either-I don't exaggerate anyone. I try to be as objective as possible with everyone. By the way, I've never heard anyone say Tom Cruise is 5'1! Haha.

Did anyone catch Amanda and Channing Tatum on Fuse's Daily Download last week? Of course they are in a movie together, but sometimes movies are unrelable because of tricks done. Channing is listed as 6'1, and he does seem really tall. I wasn't paying too much attention, but Amanda looked like she was at his eyes, so that's like 4 1/2-5 inches less. She was in pretty tall heels. If he is 6'2 in shoes, she would have been about 5'9-5'9 1/2 with heels--Unfortunately it's really easy to be off an inch or so. It turns out to be around 5'6.5--5'7 though... (She was taller than both hosts but I don't know their heights. Dylan's a shorty though.)

No need to yell at me or start arguments. I am just stating the fact that Frankie is 5' 4". If you look at him next to 5' 4" women and take the height of their heels, they are the same height. People forget this and think Frankie is shorter, but he's not. They like to exaggerate his shortness... kind of like the people who say Tom Cruise is 5' 1".

Amanda, it's been said multiple times on this site, by me and many others that PEOPLE LIE ABOUT THEIR HEIGHT. PEOPLE LIIEE ABOUT THEIR HEIGHT. You think someone as egotistical as Frankie (he is) would say 5'4 if he was REALLY 5'4? Of course he'd bump it up! He's thin, 5'4 can appear more! Thus, I think under 5'4 (5'2 being a low estimate) makes sense for him. The fact that he has said 5'4 multiple times proves nothing... just that he is consistent with his lie. Happens thousands of times. People will find a height they want to give themselves and they stick to it!

By the way, I caught Bynes on Jimmy Kimmel. She wasn't standing long, so I wouldn't think it's too fair to judge her height. She looked about 1 1/2--2 inches shorter than him in heels that made her 2 1/2--3 inches taller. But how tall is he? The standard 6'0 is given for him, but it's been proven otherwise (his page with him standing next to Adam Carolla is a good one). If he is 6'1 with shoes, you can calculate based on my observations that she would be about 5'8, maybe more.

But then... most people are lying by a couple inches and screw up most observations! Oy!

Frankie is 5' 4"-- he has said this many times before. Perhaps the reason he appears shorter than that is because the women who are his height wear heels and tower over him, making him appear only 5' 2".

I probably post too much on this page, but oh well... So Cassie what is your conclusion? I think Wilmer is taller than her a little bit in that picture because his forehead is higher. I agree she is slouching though and slightly further back. I don't know his exact height either. And who knows about lifts...

The problem is we usually don't know the exact height of people. Some think Cameron Diaz is less than 5'9. Some think Shia is less than 5'10. And I have noticed some people forget to account for shoes in males... like when people have tried to compare Shia with Amanda, they forget about his shoes. Down below, I remembered to take them into account, but I probably didn't give enough, because I said 1/2 inch, when it is probably more like an inch. The TRL pictures with them confuse me anyways, because sometimes she is taller than him in pictures, and sometimes she is shorter...

Btw, I've thought Frankie is more like 5'2. Amanda towers over him though.

In some photos in Big Fat Liar, Frankie Muniz is just reaching Amanda's chin. I do not know whether Frankie is 5'2'' rathere than 5'5'' or Amanda is 5'10'' or something.

I was looking at pictures of Amanda next to Cameron Diaz, who is 5' 9", and Amanda was an inch and a half to two inches shorter. I couldn't see the shoes, though. =(

When trying to figure out the height of Bynes next to Shia, take into account that Shia is not barefoot! His shoes have about one inch soles. Amanda's are three inches, so that means Amanda looks two inches taller than she is. She looks as tall as Shia, who is 5' 10"- 2" = 5' 8". If Shia is 5' 9" (which is the lower estimate), Amanda is 5' 7". She is definitely taller than 5' 5" or 5' 6".

I was joking about your name anyways. And I am through discussing Bynes with you. It's clear you won't listen. I have already said SHE WEARS HEELS ON HER SHOW. And when she is in heels and Jennie (who is not rounded DOWN when she is listed as 5'5) is in heels, she is definitely not 3 inches more. And guess what? Once, they were in no shoes AT ALL (last season ep.), and the comparison was exactly the same. I can tell the difference between a one inch gap between someone and a 3 inch gap. It's not that hard.

About the average height for males and females... it depends on the sources you look at. Some sources say the heights you gave--5'9 1/2 and 5'4 1/2, some sources get as technical as 5'8.9 and 5'3.7-5'3.8. It just depends.

Amanda (Bynes Wannabe?) I didn't just compare Amanda to Jennie. And maybe you should do some research: read my other posts, check Jennie's listings. She's ALWAYS listed as 5'5. That may even be rounding up. You think she could really be 5'6 and always rounded down to 5'5? Doesn't happen in Hollywood, sweety. Plus, I stated that another co-star on the show (Leslie Erin Grossman) is listed as 5'5, and looks equal with Jennie. PLUS, I have always taken heels in account. I mean, did you pick and choose what part of my post/posts to read? I said that both times I took heels into account when I did the Jennie/other co-stars and Amanda comparison.

AGAIN: People lie about height. And if you are already tall, and Amanda technically is, you can get away with it (almost). Plus she is quite thin, with perfect features.

Watched her show this friday night (sick and had to stay home :( ), and once again, compared to the 5'5 co-stars, she is barely taller. All were wearing typical heeled shoes. Another co-star listed as 5'2 (doubt she is downgraded), is not 6 inches shorter! 5'6-5'6 1/2 keeps showing up for her. Ah, I love harping on this one. If I can convince one non-believer that she lies about her height, it would be awesome. Also gives insight on how a celebrity can lie about height and get away with it... Amanda is built perfectly for a 2 inch+ upgrade. She's got very square shoulders that actually give her more "body" so to speak as oposed to rounded shoulders which makes a person have less. She's also very thin. When she isn't next to 5'5 Jennie Garth, you actually think... "she's gotta be at least 3 inches taller." But she's not!

That picture with Merrin Dungey basically proves she is not 5'8. It's unlikely several things could go wrong (such as slouching, different heels, Merrin Dougey actually being taller than 5'8 when that's how she's listed) for Amanda to actually be the height she claims. She's the celebrity height on here I find the most interesting, because she is one who can actually fool people into believing she really is 5'8. You know what it is? 5'8 is more uncommon for females than people think. When you're around 5'6 1/2 (the height I believe her to really be) that is already above average height for a female, and if you are built right, you can lie and say 5'8 and people will believe it. Because truly, not many other females will be 5'8 to compare them to. So many people fudge on there height, some 5'6ers 5'7ers who are built right can get away with 5'8 or more. It's not just them either. People can add an inch or two to their height and no one really knows it's a lie.

Btw, Amanda was on Conan the other night. I tried to compare those two, (I think his height is accurately listed) but she sat down so fast and he's already so tall as it is I couldn't judge at all. So much for what I thought would be more proof...

There is no way she is 5'8. Yes she is very thin and her build just gives the illusion that she is quite tall, but compare her to her acclaimed 5'5 costar, Jennie Garth in her tv show. No way is she 3 inches taller. And another costar who is said to be 5'5 (she does look dead on with Jennie) is also pretty close to Bynes. I'd put her at 5'6 1/2 again--5'7 AT the most. (And yes, I have taken shoes into account.)

She is a tallish girl, but nowhere near exceptionally tall even for a woman. Again compared on Regis and Kelly she was in heals, and didn't look too much taller than Regis who is really just about 5'6" and who was in dress shoes. Amanda is 5'7"-5'8", she also didn't really look too much taller than Hilary Duff, and Hilary is only 5'1".
