Looking again at Teddy, he is a 'posture guy' at times.

This is often the case with taller folk - not standing at the fullest with people shorter than them.

Whilst there are photos of Teddy and Becks looking very close and within an inch, there are considerable photos of Teddy looking 1.5-2" taller at times.

He can look close to 2" above Shearer too.

And nearer 2.5" above Keano.

So yeah, I'd go with 6' 0.5" for one of my all time Spurs heroes, Teddy Sheringham.

Teddy was definitely taller than six foot flat, he edged Glenn Hoddle who at peak was a solid 6ft and quite arguably 6ft0.25. I don't know where you're getting language like 1 inch max taller than Beckham from either,to me he looks easily 1.5 taller than Becks. 6ft0.5 might be closer than say a true 6ft1 for Teddy, but I'd completely rule out a flat 6ft for him.

No, that's too high for Teddy.

6' 0" is more accurate for his night height.

There was 1.5" at most between him and Shearer. He was 1" max taller than Beckham.

About 2" taller than Roy Keane though.

Interestingly, Millwall only listed Teddy as 5" 11" - which was too low.

Oddly enough, Sheringham described Zidane as being 6ft3 in an interview when they’re really the same height!

Hes 6ft Tall, so is Beckham, Beckham and Shearer are the same height. Hes Taller than Stuart Pearce who is 5ft 10 and Gascoigne is around 5ft 10 as well.

Tavy@ i always had alan shearer down as a 5'10" guy, flat footed. He has never been 6'0" i had to look twice when i read that there that he was 6'0" tall by google, i thought no chance. He didnt carry the frame of a 6ft guy or even look a 6ft guy. A just thought there how many times does google get famous peoples height badly wrong by at least 2 inches, wich is quite alot of height btw? Yes 2 inches taller is so easily noticed, even an inch is to. I am 5'11"05 flat footed, i dont say i am 6 foot becouse i am not 6 foot, its not that hard lol. And i can clearly remember when i was age 16 and was 5'10" at that time, and my friend was 6'0" flat footed and i can remember looking at him and thincking he is a big guy and with his shoes on he was 6'1" and i felt small and he was 2 inches taller than me. But he looked taller, i thought he was at least 6'1" flat footed. That was 32 years ago? My gawwwd. Then at age 18 i grew an extra inch and a half and he didnt seem as tall. But i remember thincking i want to grow to 6 feet at least becouse it is big. When i was age 16, and i was half an inch short in the end. I didnt realise when i was age 12, 13, 14, that 6ft was as big as that, i thought it was maybe a bit shorter by an inch and a half. Till i saw a real height measuring chart at age 15 and i had sprouted to 5'9" from 5'6" in 2 years quick, but i thought i was taller or near to 6ft and when i saw the height chart 6ft looked alot taller than i thought? I said in the shop i will never grow to that size, thats huge 6ft and i had my shoes on. The man said no you could still grow at least another 4 inches. But you dont want to be too tall? About 6'3" is perfect its a giant, he said. 6ft8 and over is too freaky he said. And now i am age 48 he was right. I didnt know as well guys at 6'8" or 9" die younger. Most die at about in there 60s and early 60s and late 50s even, just becouse there so big. In a way it doesnt make sense just becouse your 8 inches taller than the main 6ft target. Then i noticed at age 16 alot of things were 6ft, like fences, walls, snooker tables, pool tables, the deep end at the swimming baths 6ft, wardrobes,.... And so much more. Well a thinck the message is 6ft is big enough. But alan shearer i say was 5'10" tall and 6ft for him seems a bit strange for me. David beckham isnt even 6ft he is 5'11" see what i mean there not as big as they thinck or want to be. And beckham was listed as 6ft for years, till he admitted he wasnt 6ft but 5'11" but hes a great guy and good for the game!

Ah, one of my all time heroes. What a legend!

It really is a toss up between 5' 10.75" and 5' 10.5"

He really could be a 5' 10 and 5 eighths" guy.

I think this listing really is his absolute low though.

He's at least 1 inch taller than Gary Lineker, who I've met in 2011 and was 5' 9.75"

Beckham edges him by close to half an inch and I really think a 25 year-old Becks could've been 5' 11.25"

And Teddy Sheringham who is 6' 0" has 1.25" to 1.5" on Shearer.

He does often stand with very loose posture though, sometimes looking 178 cm at best. But he's slightly closer to 5' 11" than 5' 10" in my opinion.

I think 5' 10.75" is a safer bet. Can't see him being less than that in the afternoon.

I think in football boots he's likely to hit 6ft which might be why he got that listing at Blackburn. A lot of guys may have fallen into that trap. Beckham as well was listed 6ft by Man U and Steve Gerrard at 6ft2 with Liverpool

good listing .he could appear as tall as beckham sometimes and sometimes shorter.beckham is a weak 180 guy and shearer is a strong 179 guy.179-179.5 before bed and 181-181.5 out of bed.

Judging footballers' heights isn't the most arduous task in the world as they run around on a flat football pitch all wearing the same sports shoes, so it's nice and easy to compare the members of the teams. It's good to see Alan has a page; he sure is famous enough, and was playing when my Mum and I used to watch the important England games together.

I'll ask my boyfriend whether he's around an inch and a half taller than he is. He met him and others after an Arsenal match Shearer attended last January, (or was it the January before?) but he much preferred Thierry Henry as a person.
