US Actor from Jake and the Fatman. Hmm, in the book 'Quinn Martin: Producer', talking about Cannon the author said: "5ft 9 and a half Conrad was close to 300lbs by the end of the series".
Could he ever have been that tall. I remember on Fatman he looked short.

Conrad was also narrator on The Fugitive TV series plus numerous parades (like Thanksgiving) broadcast on TV

Conrad was the voice of Marshal Matt Dillon on the radio version of Gunsmoke. In an act of blatant height discrimination, the producers of the TV version decided to hire the six foot seven inch James Arness to play Dillon.

He was average for his generation.

When I mentioned on Oct.18 I am adding Burt Lancaster's colorful 1950 WB swashbuckler The Flame And The Arrow,I mentioned "Don't be surprised if The Killers,Lancaster's awesome first movie, goes, too." Yep! The Killers made the Christmas list, too! And Conrad did narrate boyhood favorites Bullwinkle and Dudley Do Right, but he also voiced Biggy Rat on The King And Odie, too. Although Conrad was chubby on his 5'7" body frame,he also directed and ranks among Indiana's greatest actors, too. (He was from Knox,Indiana.) But I never understood how in Marigolds,Snidely Whiplash would plant a marigold suit to escape Dudley Do Right capturing him because Dudley was allergic to marigolds! Then Nell Fenwick turned the marigolds to crabgrass, but Nell's daddy Inspector Raymond Fenwick was allergic to crabgrass! Conrad knew he couldn't play Marshal Matt Dillon on the TV Gunsmoke (but played him on radio from 1946-1962),but James Arness was perfect for the role!

Still another native Hoosier, like Florence Henderson,Jean Byron,Andrew Duggan,Mike Aulby,George Branham III,et al. He was about my 5'7" height and was a fine dramatic actor. Sporadically directed. But while it's true he narrated Bullwinkle and Dudley Do Right, boyhood favorites,he also voiced Biggy Rat on another boyhood favorite,The King And Odie.

Conrad appears quite short in the 1949 MGM film Any Number Can Play. I doubt he was ever more than 5'7". He looked short in The Naked Jungle.

No! No! No! Conrad who played Marshall Dillon on radio was about 5'7". My mom worked with him in radio.

Great actor. He did look shorter on Fatman (and Cannon for that matter), and his weight probably made him look even shorter. He appeared on Diagnosis Murder once and there was a noticable gap between him and Van Dyke. He looked 5'7" to 5'8" to me.
