American actress best remembered for roles in films such as Rear Window, All About Eve, Pillow Talk, The Misfits, Pickup on South Street, With a Song in My Heart, The Mating Season, Titanic (1952), Boeing Boeing and Birdman of Alcatraz. In a 1955 interview she said "I'm five foot one".

Makes sense though, NYC is in the biggest city in our country with the largest theater community and Hollywood loved to find talents in the theater especially early in the sound era.

Her accent was about as Glennville as you can get to!! I always love the way New Yorkers say first "fearst". "Ya dumb brooohdd". Funny how sooo many actors/actresses in Hollywood were NYers. The accent dominates films at times.

One of the greatest character actresses of all time. She could steal a movie to leading actors and actresses.
She looked short

A true blue 5'1" and one of the greatest character actors ever.

One of the greatest (and underrated) film actresses of all time IMO. Agree Sam?

Thanks. Yeah I guessed 5'-5'1. Can you also add Pickup on South Street, With a Song in My Heart, The Mating Season, and Boeing Boeing. The first three she had Best Supporting Actress noms. Pickup on South Street is highly recommended BTW.
