How tall is Sue Johnston

The first time I watched Sue was when she played Sheila Grant in the soap ‘Brookside’. She then shifted to comedy, which she took to like a duck 🦆 to water in ‘The Royle Family’. Sue was great playing Jim Broadbent’s wife in Jimmy McGovern’s ‘The Street’. Jimmy was the creator of the brilliant ‘Cracker’, which starred Ricky Tomlinson, who played Sue’s wife in ‘The Royle Family’! I’m bound to be watching that today, what with yesterday’s tragic news about dear Robbie Coltrane, who played the Cracker of crime himself, Eddie FitzGerald.

Sue can have 5ft6.75 for her peak and 5ft5.5 for today.

In ‘The Royle Family’ tonight, Sue’s Barbara Royle is chatting to her daughter, Denise, about babies. Denise, played by the late Caroline Aherne, says “Baby David spilt over an entire ashtray this afternoon….”

“Yeah, they’re lovely at that age!” replies Barbara.

I never thought was Sue was 5ft 7in. I'd say 5ft 6.5in peak.

She certainly looked taller than average height and was taller than Claire goose in waking the dead 5ft 6 peak looks accurate

Oh dear! I had the 5ft7 stuck in my head (her flowery Spotlight height), and I believed it fully, due entirely to the height gap between her and Caroline Aherne, who played her daughter in 'The Royle Family', who is 5ft3, if I remember rightly.

Next time round she gets three-quarters of an inch less from both peak and today's heights, unless, Rob, you can alter my figures now - because they are clearly incorrect.

It's brilliant to see:

a) That this great lady has a page now and

b) That you find out her height!

Let's see: I remember while watching 'The Royle Family' and thinking "Wow! She's got a much smaller daughter!" 🤔

But I never found out by how much! 😯

Now I see she is quite a tall lady. To me, 5ft7 for a woman is the beginning of 'tall', so she does qualify; it's the equivalent of a 6ft fellow!

She did look her full 5ft7 or thereabouts in 'Inspector Morse' the other day. In fact, I will go for her peak height being 5ft7 and for her current height being 5ft5.75.
