Midsomer Murders has just started and I looked up when I heard Simon Callow’s very distinctive voice. He has the voice of somebody much taller. He’s trying to chat up Tracy Brabin’s barmaid character!

I have just watched a narration by Simon Callow of the Dickens classic 'A Christmas Carol', and although I had no plans to watch this, his rendition, with his variations of the characters' different voices, was completely entrancing.
He walked about, acting out each inimitable character so beautifully that I just couldn't drag myself away from the TV set. Of course, we could see his stature, and I put him at a slightly below average 5ft7.5. It turns out I was an inch out, but to turn a one-man show into something so compelling must have raised my estimate perhaps, unless it was the wearing of a long coat. I'd never really thought about it before!
