A shocking scene from the second season of Boardwalk Empire:
An ageing gangster guy comes to see Shea’s Eli Thompson. Eli isn’t in the best of moods, having fought with his brother, Nucky, and hits the old fellow in the head with an implement, probably one used for heavy duty gardening, over a trivial disagreement. The guy starts fitting almost, and bleeding from his mouth, but Eli decides to finish him off completely, the heartless gangster. 😤 He smashes his head to a pulp and later buries the man with a mate of his.
This deed was TERRIBLE in the manner of its cruelty and his callous and nonchalant attitude to the taking of another’s life.
Furthermore, this took place in the greenhouse where he
entertains his children.
Truly a violent series, but happily, there are touching moments. It forces us to realise how lucky we are to live in relatively safe times, albeit only one century later. Mind you, when you’re in at the deep end and gangster life is all you’ve known, I have no doubt that today’s gangsters aren’t free to live a life free from NOT looking over their shoulders wheresoever they may go.

it hink robs 173 listing is to high and mr R listings of 168 is to low. i bielve the guy is 170-171 range. this is to hutch for him really. looks like a really small guy and he wouldnt look like that if he was 173.

I'm going to give Shea 5ft8!
Playing Nucky Thompson's brother, Eli, in 'Boardwalk Empire', played by 5ft8.25 Steve Buscemi, they chose well in the height similarily stakes! One moment I think one is taller, the next, the other 'boy'! However, my overall conclusion was that Shea was the taller of the two, so I really think this must be down to his having a better posture!
If I'm truly honest, I expected to find this actor to be just under 5ft9! He stands well - and confidently.

On one of the more recent Boardwalk Empire episode, he did not, I'd admit, look 5'8" standing on an elevator with Michael Shannon, since Shannon seems to tower him by a full head.

I met Shea at an event honoring David O. Russell. He is much shorter than he looks. He is 5-6. Steve B is always a little taller than he is.

Thanks for the addition, Rob. 5'8" is a pretty good shout. Sometimes both Buscemi and Whigham can seem to edge the other out but are similar. Michael Shannon (compared in Take Shelter, although both are also in BE) looks nearly a head taller than Whingham.
