Yeah, Rob, I have Carlos Ortiz at around 5 ft 7, Ken Buchanan at 5 ft 7.5 inches & Roberto Duran at around 5 ft 6-and-three-quarter inches in height. Duran wasn’t particularly tall for his optimal weight (lightweight) & had a shorter than average reach for his height but at the end of the day, all these physical (as well as mental) attributes helped him to be THE BEST. Buchanan & Ortiz were great defensive fighters & they were fast (Ken definitely more than Carlos), were technically superb & could punch. Duran thrashed Ken before stopping him in 13. And Duran would have beaten a peak, in-form Carlos (probably by unanimous decision) too. Hilmer Kenty was probably the tallest world lightweight champ ever at 5 ft 10 & Roberto would have stopped him inside 10 rounds. FIVE FOOT SIX AND THREE QUARTER INCHES FOR THE GREATEST LIGHTWEIGHT BOXER OF ALL TIME.

I have a strong suspicion that Roberto, even in his prime fighting yrs (ie 20 to late 30s) was a maximum height of 5 ft 6-and-three-quarters (and NOT a full 5 ft 7). I only say this as in just about every pic I have seen, 175 cm (5 ft 9 on the dot) Sugar Ray Leonard looks slightly MORE THAN 2 inches taller than him. Sometimes, Leonard looks a strong 6 cm (roughly 2 and a half inches) taller than Duran. Please don’t take my word for it, Rob & just check out the photos yourself. Also, compare Duran with another exceptionally great world lightweight champion of the 1960s called CARLOS ORTIZ. Ortiz was billed at 5 ft 7 & had a 70 inch reach, which is 4 more than Duran’s 66 inch reach. To me, Ortiz looks to be a legitimate 5 ft 7 inches (170 cm) tall, whereas Duran looks a fraction under that (most likely 169.5 cm). Also, guys like 6 ft Iran Barkley & 6 ft 0.5 inch Tommy Hearns ABSOLUTELY TOWER above Duran. One more thing, Rob - could you please look at the wonderful World Lightweight Champion of the early 1970s, KEN BUCHANAN. Buchanan might be interesting to you as he was Scottish. I believe he was easily the greatest boxer the UK ever produced. Buchanan is billed at 5 ft 7 and a half inches tall & absolutely looks it (he was a tall lightweight). What do you think Ken’s height was, Rob?

Roberto Duran was a strong 5'6 in his prime he was always 3 inches shorter than Leonard who was 5'9.5 so he was 5'6.5 now he's like 5'6 even. Rob has an easy 2 inches on him. Mind you hair adds height so he could be slightly under 5'6 now.

If Leonard was 5 ft 9 to 5 ft 9.25 (175 - 176 cm) tall during the 1970s & 1980s whilst at his peak, Duran must have stood 5 ft 7 (170cm). Besides, I met Duran in Sept 2013 when he was in his early 60s & he had shrunk to around 5 ft 6.5 by then (he was a v similar height to me). As Boxing fan 07 said, Rob, you really need to do Tommy Hearns - my guess is that he is around 6 ft 0.5 (184 cm) tall. Nah, 6 ft 2 is out of the question. Hey Rob how tall do you think Thomas Hearns was. Leonard clammed in a video he was 6’2”. But in a picture with Holyfield, he looked a good 1 inch shorter

Rob, you have entries for Duran & Sugar Ray Leonard on your site so now it’s time to add the other three great welter/middleweight legends of the 1980s. If you could add them in order of their boxing legendary status & boxing achievements that would be good. So you will have to add the 5 ft 8 inch Hagler first, followed by the 6 ft 0.5 inch Thomas Hearns and then lastly the 5 ft 9.5 inch Wilfred Benitez. Hagler was maybe the second greatest middleweight champion of all time. I would personally put Robinson below Hagler (simply because Sugar Ray kept loosing to one v good middleweight after another during the 1950s). It would be great if you could do an entry for the greatest 160 pound champ of all time, Carlos Monzon. Unlike Hagler, Monzon was a tall middleweight & may have stood around 5 ft 11 and a quarter or even 5 foot eleven and a half (181 to 182 cm) tall. Unlike Hagler, Monz was one mean, nasty bee-atch outside the ring.
