Yeah i think he could be about 181cm now. I think he would of been a strong 6foot in he's prime maybe like 183cm. That plane crash and he's career would of deffently effected he's height. Theres no telling how tall he was so im with rob on that one. Look how much Hogan shrunk so i can garantee flair did shrink but by how much.

I met him once in St. Martin about 10 years ago. He was there with a bunch of other wrestlers who were putting on a show. I'm 5'11". When I was talking to him, he definitely appeared about 6'. I remember his hands being huge though. Seemed like a strong dude. Nice guy.

This seems like a legitimate reason for height loss. I reckon he should have a peak listing as well as his current height.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Jason said on 10/May/06
I'm always suspicious with height loss stories from wrestlers. Maybe he was 6'0'' at one point, but not 6'1''.

Quote from a 1997 newspaper article:
"Later that year (1975), he was in a plane crash near Wilmington, NC, that broke his back in three places and took two inches off his height. He's about six feet tall."
For the WWE "Greatest Stars of the 1980s" DVD released last year, Flair commented that he broke T10, T11, and T12. He described them as being "all smashed together," which would be compression fractures.
More than likely he's had further spinal compression from wrestling over the past 32 years.

broken vertebrae is likely to result in loss of height...so maybe this guy should get a peak height of 6ft 1!

My brother is about 6'0.5" and he saw Ric Flair in a club on the west coast in the 1990's and he stood next to Ric Flair and he said he felt like he was a little taller than Flair. I think it is fair to say Flair is 6'0"
Elio said on 2/May/06
I think he's taller than 5'11" anyway. Additionally, I think it should be compulsary to end your posts on this board with a 'woo'.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

The Man, he is 5'11 barely I think today. I remember in a staredown with Kurt Angle on Raw last summer he had about an inch on him. Flair when he was younger no doubt was 6'0 I think.
TheMan said on 28/Apr/06
Well to me he looks no more than 182cms if he is 6,0 he's just about there.

Jason ever tried 'cut and paste' ? ...lol.

Click HereBig Show looking well below 7'0'' ''talking strategy'' in the ring with ~6'2'' Brock Lesnar. Try 6'8'' tops there. Lesnar actually looked 6'1 1/2'' to me in person.
Jason said on 27/Apr/06
One of the tennis players with Ric Flair further down the page is 185cm James Blake. Flair looks 180cm/5'11'' next to him.

I met him nearly 3 years ago (he was very rude but I wont let that cloud my judgement hehe).
Jonny what was up with Ric ? Too much WOOing.
Alex said on 24/Apr/06
I never seen Flair in person, well up close that is. Today he is about 5'11 but when he was younger he was 6'0 I think.

in my videogame on snes royal rumble hes rated as 5'11" ... wwe started putting him at 6'1" sometime around Evolution (who was rated as 6'4+ guys) and triple h clearly looked smaller then em but trush is none of them were their rated heights so i give flair 180-181cm .. tho he looks 6' on that pic
Jason said on 23/Apr/06
That's cuz he's closer to the camera. Note Jim said he purposefully stepped forward for the photo.
Gramps said on 23/Apr/06
He looks at least six feet in the above photo.

Seen Flair in person, he looked 5'11'' to me. Larger built than I expected, too.

i'd figure he was about 6'0, remembering back to wrestlemania 20 and the interview with Randy Orton and evolution, he looked about 6ft next to 6'4 Orton and 6'3 or so Batista.
Alex said on 21/Apr/06
Bleemo, I'd give Chris Masters a solid 6'3. He does look pretty close to his 6'4 billed height.
Big Jim said on 21/Apr/06
The 243 pounds they have him listed at might be right. I was 234 that day.
Bleemo said on 21/Apr/06
Any chance of lifts? did he wear dress shoes? I always figured this guy was noticeably under 6' because he looks so much smaller then the other Evolution guys, who are tall but not enough to make a 6' man look smallish. I'd say 5'10.5 is about right, there's a few sighting that peg him at that.
How tall would you gauge the masterpeive at roughly?
Big Jim said on 21/Apr/06
To be honest I wasn't comparing height that night. He seemed about my height and to be honest I was shocked. I had always thought these guys were about 6’4” or so. I was also shocked that I was as big if not bigger than most of them. Even the Masterpiece was a lot smaller than I thought. My guess was that Ric Flair was right at 6’ give or take ½ of an inch. He carried himself with good posture which I think makes him look closer to 6’ than not. A lot of guys his age slouch whereas he carried himself with bravado and confidence. I asked my wife and daughters and they thought he was just a about the same as me when we were actually side to side. She did say he had a big head which accounted for some of the height. She also said that he did tend to step forward when photos were being taken (she was the one who took the photos).

In the Super Nintendo game "WWF Royal Rumble"...Flair was listed as 5'11".
Can't be over that.

Curt Hennig was Mr Perfect Anshelm.
Alex said on 20/Apr/06
Look at this video of Flair and 5'10 Kurt Angle. Flair looks the same or a little taller so he's maybe 5'11 tops. def somewhere from 5'10-5'11 now and maybe 6'0 at his peak.

Anshelm said on 20/Apr/06
Agree with Doink, if the guy's billed at 6'1" he's almost certainly shorter in reality. Plus, Kurt Angle is the pretty much the best measuring stick there is the WWE; not only has he one of the best documented heights (5'10"/178 cm) among wrestlers, but the guy's bald! Try using Carlito for comparison...
My wrestling watching history goes only so far: I've no idea who Curt Henning is, nor any idea of his height's legitimacy.
Alex said on 20/Apr/06
6'0 in his prime I can see maybe but no way is he 6'0 today. He looked a bit taller barely when he faced off against 5'10 Kurt Angle so 5'10.5 is possible for him. He's 5'11 at the very most.
Elio said on 20/Apr/06
I'm not sure about 6'1" ... but I think he was at least 6'0" at his peak. Big Jim, how tall did you think he looked in person. In that photo he looks roughly your height, perhaps half an inch or so shorter?
WOOOOOOOOOOO!
Doink said on 20/Apr/06
No way... he's never been billed at anything above 6-1. Try 5-10 now, maybe 5-11 in his prime. Flair's also never had any major surgeries in his career so I doubt he's shrunk any more than an inch.
Muhammad Ali (6-3 in his prime), Flair, and Antonio Inoki (billed at 6-4) from 1995 in Korea.

yes, looking at pics, including Jim's he doesn't look near 6ft 1, maybe its possible he never was...
the following pic was brought up a while back on here:

Anshelm he didn't really look that much shorter than the late great Curt Hennig who was 188cm legit.
Big Jim said on 20/Apr/06
Flair was in great shape, for a guy of any age, when we took this photo. This was taken about three days after the arrest for road rage. He seemed like a real nice guy and had a heck of strong handshake. Now that you mentioned it we took a few photos and he always seemed to move to the front just a little. Great trick I will have to remember it. LOL Jim
Paul said on 20/Apr/06
He may be 182cm or 183cm now but 184cm when he was younger seems a good bet.
Anshelm said on 20/Apr/06
I find 185 cm VERY hard to believe, even in the past. Nowadays he looks very much Kurt Angle's height, I think he's the taller of the two; about 179 cm/5'10½" today would be my guess.
I think he looks taller in that picture only because he's closer, but at least his shoulder line seems to be just lower than Jim's, so even based on that I'd guess no more than 5'11"... Besides, I've lost my trust for still photos a long time ago – of course, sometimes you have nothing else to work with.
Shawn Michaels could be a good person to compare him to (though I'd put Shawn at 5'11"/180 cm, rather than 6'/183 cm).
Paul said on 20/Apr/06
I used to see 184cm quoted many times during Ric's first WWF stint (not by WWF itself).
