American actress best known for roles in movies like The Hustler, Carrie and Children of a Lesser God. On tv she is well known for a role in Twin Peaks as Catherine Martell. A 1951 article from Modern Screen Magazine mentioned that she says she was '5ft 5' but some guy measured her at 5ft 4.5. In fact A 1951 article mentioned her as "height: 5 feet 4 ½ inches; weight: 115 pounds". In 2012 she was quoted in an interview saying: "People think I'm this domineering giant and I'm only 5-foot, 2-1/2 inches, but it's just that Sissy Spacek was even tinier than me."

It makes sense that Piper was 5ft4.5 when 'Carrie' was made as Sissy Spacek was, I read at the time, 5ft3.
I saw the film when I was just turned 16! It was the first 'X' film I lied my way into seeing at Bromley Odeon! They were very strict there and I had to have all my answers ready for the inevitable grilling!
