Just seen Phil’s passport pre 1973 which states his place of birth as West Bromwich, and height as 6’2”

Definitely above 6’1”, just one of those guys that you know was tall, he wore boots on occasion, but also wore Chuck Taylor’s a lot, at least 6’2”, think his mother mentioned his size when she described finding him on unconscious in a cold bath weeks before he died, said she didn’t know how she got him out considering the size of him. One of the most underrated artists from the classic rock era, live and dangerous is a must for any music fan. Big Philo was 6’2” for me needs upgrading to atleast 1m87

Ah! The beautiful musician Phil Lynott! How can I possibly have been listening to Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds without visiting Phil’s page?
What a charismatic voice this great singer had! His contribution on War of the Worlds has possibly produced more goose pimples on my arms than any other singer has, but let’s face it - each performance was exceptional.
When I was 19 and my Mum and brother were on holiday in Wales, I used to have a few friends round to socialise until the early hours. One of them was a dead ringer for Phil Lynott, and I called him Phil so much that I forgot his real name! He loved it, and quite understandably so. He was a tall guy as well, or he wouldn’t exactly have fitted the bill.
Regarding Gary Moore’s height, Keith, I have found 5ft6 for him. I’ve checked out quite a few pictures of Gary with Phil, and though he was a considerable chunk shorter, it’s hard to say whether it’s all of 7-7.5”.
I’m going with the average of 6ft1.5 for Phil. 🕯🎶🎸

Phil was married to Caroline Crowther, the daughter of entertainer Leslie Crowther, who adored Phil and was heartbroken when he died so suddenly in early January, 1986, aged only 36. 😢

Tavy@ you could tell he was a tall guy with those long legs nearly danngling off the stage lol i thought he must be 6'2" flat footed and not counting the afro. With that all added in he would have been huge at over 6'6" becouse those boots he wore were at least 2 to 3 inches. And hes afro would be at least 3 inches. So thats 5 to 6 inches added on to a guy at least 6'1". Gary moore said he was a giant. His music was just brilliant, he was ahead of his time. There album 'black rose' was just magic. And 'jailbreak' and so many more. I loved there single 'yellow pearl' and it became the tune on top of the pops run down of the uk charts. Ye dont get any better than that. But he had so many great singles. Its strange becouse they werent my favourite band but i feel as if hes still and always will be sadly missesd even 35 years later.

Editor RobSometimes he can seem about 3 inches shorter, but remember these guys heel heights varied a bit and sometimes they had 2.5 range heels on.

I had a pen-friendship with a DJ called Big George, who was 6ft1. I asked him! I used to phone him up while he was on air with his Greater London Radio heavy rock show. One evening, he started playing a Thin Lizzy song and then suddenly he ran out of time and that is when I started writing to him. He played it in its entirety the following week, but I can't remember which one it was, they had so many great hits!
Phil gets 6ft1.5.
⭐ Big George wrote the theme tune to 'Have I Got News For You' and many others. He died in May 2011 aged just 53.

I would guess his height to have been 6ft1 or 2. Remember, those days, the shoes they wore gave them quite some extra inches!
I wasn't going to mention this, but I will. A few days before he died (1986 if I remember rightly), I dreamt that I was walking home my usual route when a car pulled up beside me to break the dreadful news. 🎸🎤🎸🎶

Editor Rob I think his hair and thin build could probably make him look taller. Plus, footwear in his day at times may have helped.
