She can look tall b/c she has a small head and long, thin legs. My mother is only 5'0" max but easily passes for 5'4" b/c she is shaped the same way. I, on the other hand, am actually 5'5" but people think I'm shorter b/c I'm built like a tree trunk, with a long waist. Penelope is lucky.

Just watched some Christmas film, Noel (2004), with Cruz and Susan Sarandon among others. There is a scene on the street with Cruz and Sarandon, face to face, full body shot. Sarandon in flat boots, Cruz in towering stilettos. Sarandon is at least an inch taller, probably an inch and a quarter. Cruz has a minimum of 2 inches footwear advantage. I think that puts Cruz at 5’ 3” tops, maybe even a tad under. And as far as I am concerned that fits in perfectly with my evaluation of Bardem and by association, Daniel Craig. All in need of downgrades IMHO.

I remember reading about Clint Eastwood calling women 'squirts', and that included Sondra Locke, who was billed as 5ft5! In actual fact, I'm sure you'll find on her page that she's about 5ft4! At THAT time, Clint was always written up as 6ft4! However, 13" is a huge difference!

Penelope does look tiny next to the very tall men in 'Gothica', as does Hello Berry! I strongly recommend it. It is a superior ghost story stroke psychological thriller - and it ends on a high note! Both girls are excellent. In fact, I haven't seen it since I've been a visitor to celebheights, and I couldn't think of a better way to compare the actresses' heights! Do try and see it Nik!

Funnily enough, when I was writing on Ted Levine's page recently, I expressed a desire to see him in 'Shutter Island', but I couldn't find my copy. Ironically it was showing last night! 👍😊 🙌

Well, she certainly doesn't look tiny! If I had gone on to this page and not seen her listing then I would certainly go quite a bit higher than 5'4"! This height is not tiny though, where have we heard this before? Why do so many people think that women of 5'4" are tiny? The only people who would make Penelope look tiny are people who are around 6'0" or over!

I remember a while back that Penelope was the topic of a discussion on 'Countdown', and described as 'tiny'! A while back I saw her in a rather fantastic chiller called 'Gothica', wherein she was support to Halle Berry's lead. The men in the film, including Charles Dutton, were quite simply enormous, so both girls looked 'little and lost'! That was how they were meant to look because they were playing victims in an abusive phychiatric hospital - and they did certainly look small. Not the best film to judge either girl's height, but both are slender, contributing to the appearance that they could easily be victims. I think Halle is chalked up as 5ft4 on the site, but I have read 5ft5!

The other day, I watched Penelope play opposite Ben Kingsley, and being as he's hardly a huge man, I think I gave him a tad over 5ft7/7.5 when I voted, I can agree that Penny is 5ft4. She was around 3.5" less than Ben, but looked him straight in the eye with shoes on her feet! 😊

I always thought a full 5'4 seems a little high. Loved her in Nine, "when you come back I'll still have my legs open". If that's not a way to get your man to come home asap I'm not sure what is haha. Sometimes Penelope seems really hot, other times, not to so much, sometimes a bit skinny and washed out. I prefer Salma I think, but both women are beautiful.

In this picture, note she has hair that is teased about two inches up, her dress also is slightly empire starting at ribcage not natural waist, giving the appearance of a shorter torso, which leads to longer looking legs, also though tasteful the skirt is also quite short, again adding to the illusion. I was also a ballet dancer and equestrian..and we are known for posture. She's probably also in at least three inch heels since most high end brands are 3-4 inches. I do not think she is 5'6 in flats. I'm only 5'3.5 and always guessed at 5'7.. I'm told (thank you world, though i dont believe it..but im flattered)my eyes are green but yes I'm also an actress and we ABSOLUTELY almost ALL lie on height and weight. 5'6-5'7 isn't really that small for a woman and she always refers to herself and is referenced as being impossibly tiny.

@leonari, that's difficult to see. In Spain people doesn't give such an importance to height so artists heights is not known unless they are international celebrities and are listed in websites like this one. Just take Penelope as a reference and do your bets. I've check some photos and they look pretty much the same in most (Penelope looks about 1 inch taller in some) of them so maybe it's not a height difference but a shoe difference what you noted.

Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Penelope and her shoes, and a low white wall with the sign "Festival de Cannes", very useful to compare heights.

The differences in height between Johnny and Penelope is obvious (look where Pe's shoulder touches Johnny. Even with heels, Pe is shorter than Johnny. And I do not think Johnny wear lifts shoes, because the difference with Geoffrey (5'11) is huge.

It's a good actress and beautiful, but she is not even averege in height (nothing wrong with that). For me, 5'2 maximum.

Was 6' 1" until he went off a cliff on a dirt bike and damage on spinal vertabrae. Many pads are misssing, crushed, and S1 L5 L4 L3 are fused further shortenin heigh. My guess is he is closer to 5' 11" - but around other tall people he seems to be their heigh!!!!! Do to Italian heritage his families thigh bone is perhaps as much as 2 inches shorter than the average person. With an average thigh bone, he would be about 6' 3" as his uncle and cousin are.

gladrunn i think you're seeing things. she's shorter than sarandon...and it's widely known that sarandon wears no heels or 1 inches at most. plus, the reason she towers over 5'5 allen is because she wears 4 inch heels all the time. she doesnt tower over scarlett either...they are virtually the same height in vicky christina barcelona and in premiere photos ...and penelope is always in huge heels. plus she wasnt at the venice film festival...it was cannes;)

Penelope Cruz is definitely shorter than 5'4. This picture of her with Gael Garcia Bernal proves that because she is at least one inch shorter than him, and he is leaning. He is listed at 5'6. I am sure she is wearing at least a 2-3 inch heel - making the total inches she is shorter than him 3-4 - which means she is 5'2 - 5'3, not 5'4.

I went to madam tussads last weekend and if the wax works are to scale - she is quite small. she was about my height wearing heels - I am 5ft 4.5" bare foot and was wearing uggs - giving me about half an inch. her heels were at leats 3" so id say she is about 5'2ish...very petite in frame too...definetely nothing like on TV....

she's a solid 1.5 - 2 inches shorter than 5'4.5 demi moore (look to where they both come up to on 6'2 Ashton to compare). i'd say she's 5'2 - 5'3 ish. I've also read articles where her friends refer to her as "little Pene" - 5'4 is not short, it's average, so she'd have to be 5'3 or shorter to be referred to as "little."

i agree that penelope is about 2 inches taller than salma hayek. but i also think salma is between 5'0.5 and 5'1 - making penelope between 5'2.3 and 5'3. she has long limbs, but i have friends in the entertainment industry that know her and say how tiny she is. i guess her sister is even tinier (like 5 feet)

Matthew isn't 6', but more like 5'11" (180cm) he's listed here at 5'10.75" anyway. And Penelope is closer to 7" smaller than him, also in the picture Sophy posted, which, to me, makes her listing pretty accurate. It also fits with Salma Hayek at 5'1.5", because Penelope seems to be 2-3" taller than her in most pics.

These comments are insane... Look at this photo: Matthew is taller than her for about 15 cms (his height is 183 cm - 6feet). So: 183-15=168! Probably shorter than 168cm, but definitely taller than 163cm.

I agree, Anonymous. I think she's probably 5'2 and a half. In the pics with Shakira, she looks about an inch taller, putter her at 5'2.5 and she looks an inch or so shorter than Helen Mirren, putting her around 5'2.5-5'3 again. I think she should be down-graded soon:) it's funny though, these celebs heights can be very tricky to sort out because of camera angles and lighting. Sometimes Penelope looks 5'6, but we all know that she's about 4 inches shorter than that!

I think she's a little unders 5'4. I've seen many shots of her and actress Helen Mirren, who seems to be a legit 5'4 herself at an awards ceremony together and Penelope looks at least an inch shorter, consistantly.

I think it's time to demote Miss Cruz to at least 5'2.5. In this picture, she is roughly the same height as John Galliano...who is about 1 inch taller than Kylie Minogue (if that). If Kylie is 5 feet....Penelope can be NO taller than 5'2.5.

In Volver, they made her look taller by putting her in heels and everyone around her in flat shoes...and her daughter, played by Yohanna Cobo (mentioned below) was seriously small (pushing 5'0 at most). And so , this is why she appears taller when she's really probably 5'2-3.

Wow, Penelope really had me fooled! I saw 'All About My Mother' too and I believed her when she said she was 5'6 and "short, I know," as she says in the movie. I felt sorta down since I'm 5'3 myself and I thought that that must mean I'm really really short! Last night I saw 'Volver' and she was taller than all the other female characters (heels, though). I must say she looks taller than her proclaimed 5'3-5'4, but I'm not disputing it!

Carmen Maura, seen in this pic with Penelope, is listed as 5'3". They are the same height here (minus Pen's big hair)....but if you look at the next link...and see their footwear, you'll see that Penelope is wearing 4 inch heels, while Carmen is wearing 1" heels.

I think Penelope is probably a solid 5'2--but no taller. And I think it's time to downgrade her Rob;)

I work at Ritz Carlton hotel... i checked her in... i am bout 5'6 with shoes and she was wearing shoes too...so she was little shorter than me. I didnt pay attention as to if she was wearing heels or flat shoes. But she seems small.

Those pictures prove she is very short. There is a big height difference in the one with Tom cruise and she had heels on. The one with Halle Berry was a scene from Gothika and they were sitting down so it doesn't count. Halle Berry isn't even 5'6, read her page.

Got an autograph off Penelope Cruz...we were both flat footed (beach!) and she is TINY in real life! I am 5 ft 5 inches (when I stand up REALLY straight!lol!) and she is really a LOT smaller then me! She is 1'60. This 1'68 was her caracter in a film. She is in the short side, but in Spain plenty of girls measure about 1'60. It's quite average. She didn't look tall in "all about my mother". Some of the actresses on the movie like Cecilia Rot and Candela Peña are quite short too (Candela is less than 1'50) that's why she looked taller.
