In case anyone is interested, here is a decent shot of a behind-the-scenes of Halloween (1978).

You can observe Nick Castle in the background, in full view, holding the William Shatner mask.

From looking at the picture, I can tell he was roughly 6ft in 1978.

Here's a photo of Nick Castle standing next to Andi Matichak who is listed 5'8.5 here. I think he looks 1.5 inches taller than her, roughly.

interesting. I have a vague memory that i read couple years ago that he ( the guy that played the original michel myers was only 5´10 and i didnt think he looked that short. If you see the first halloween its pretty clear that he is not short and at the sime time not tall. I would have guessed at worst 180 and never over 183. 181,5 ish is what i excpect him to measure at his peak. Today i really have no clue, if he says 179 then i guess he is around that. But looking at the photo above i have a feeling that he is a little under that.

I see roughly 4in between him and James. He admits to not being quite 6ft but close to it. I wouldn’t rule out 5ft11¾ and maybe can still measure a bit over 5ft10

Peak looked a weak 6-0. Now 5-10 imo. Rob you need to list like mentioned here a James Jude Courtney height. Looks a 6-3 range guy.

It’s hard to tell his height in the original, 5’11.5-6’0.25 fits his range. 5’11.75 is probably a afternoon measurement

The best scene to really gauge Nick's peak height is the scene where Michael pins Bob to the wall and stops to tilt his head. There are not many body shots in the film, but that scene is the best I could find. From there, he gave me a fairly tall impression and could pass for 6'0.

Has it been awhile since you watch the original Halloween? When examining the full screen shots and scenes of Nick, what would you estimate you his height at 27 yo? Did he give a 6 ft ish impression to you? I do not doubt your estimate of his peak, I just wanted to know if he could look that tall to you in that movie, I’m 6’0.25-6’0.5 in the evening and I plan on dressing up as MM for Halloween later this year and I want to try to give the same impression as the original

I could buy 5'11.5 peak height for Nick Castle. He does genuinely give off a tallish impression in the film. The scene when Michael Myers is strangling Laurie Strode and Myers is unmasked was done with Tony Moran. Google says he's 6'0, but I think he could have been 5'11 as he seemed to have an easy four inches on Jamie Lee Curtis. Although, I think Curtis was a strong 5'7 in the '70s. To keep in mind she was barely 20 when she was cast into the role of Laurie Strode in Halloween.

So, Nick Castle I'd say lost 1.5 inches from his peak height, which I find believable. I'd say he could have cleared 6'0 in the morning, or measured it bang on.

he wore Vietnam Jungle boots which give you an extra boost of 3 or 4 cm in Michael Myers' outfit, if he really was 5,11 barefoot in 1978 he would've been a little over 6' (around 184 cm) in Michael's costume, I know cause I cosplay Michael Myers and I'm wearing the same jungle boots, they definitely give you some boost (more or less like Dr Marteen boots).

If he is 5'10 (at the moment), then I don't think he's 170lbs. I'd guess he's 190lbs in that photo. Sounds like that other guy just assumed a 5'10 with his frame would automatically be around 170lbs.

I'm wondering if he was measuring himself in shoes? He's claiming 5'10.5' now. But look at him in this photo with James who is leaning and not postured up. Nick looks straight up as he can be. So, I'm wondering if he was peak 5'11" (not 5'11 3/4") and now 5'9.5"
He certainly looks 170+ lbs in this photo. Here is a article where he says he was 145 lbs in the original movie. He did look really thin in it. But close to 6'0" and 145 lbs? Probably not! I would say 5'11" and 145lbs in the original movie.
What do you think Rob? Is this plausible?

Any chance on you adding a page for James Jude Courtney, Rob? He's been in a quite few movies and made some cameos in TV shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I think it's worth mentioning that Michael Myers would be his greatest acting accreditation.

I didn't think he'd be as tall as 5'11.5 at peak height as he didn't seem that tall in Halloween, and keep in mind, he was in his 20s back then. He did seem around 4 inches taller than Jamie Lee Curtis though. I guess we didn't really get to see him in full body shots, only from the torso up, except for that one scene where you see him watching Laurie in her classroom.

He seems to be pretty outspoken about his height and wanting to reach 6ft, while not quite 'making the grade'! How many fellas can relate to that I wonder? 😋

Rob, if he claimed to be 5'11.75 in the late 70's and claims to be 5'10.5" now, why not list him by those heights? It's a reasonable height loss for a 71 year old man.

James Jude Courtney is quite a lot taller than Nick Castle which kind of ruins the consistency of the Halloween movies. He looks like he is in the 5’ 10” range. It’s hard to tell how tall James Jude Courtney is. He looks like he could be the 6’ 3” he claims. I am also the first to comment on this page.
