Why would he lie? Why not?! Been in the theatre at 5' .5" for 50 years and the only time I didn't lie, always claiming to be 5' 2", was when I was pre-cast to play Joe Namath's mother. I knew the smaller I looked the larger he would appear. After thinking it over I decided why not and made myself shorter - 4' .75". I'm sure Mischa's added inches helped his ego and with his talent - who cares?

He says he's 5'7", but he's always the shortest man in photos and he doesn't seem much taller than Sarah Jessica Parker., who's 5'2". Judging on photos, I'd guess he's 5'5", but maybe he's smaller. Why would he bother lying about his height?

There's no way Misha is 5'6". I once met him face-to-face in New York City, and he's 5'4" at most (I'm 5'2" and he was only one or two inches taller than me.)

6'2 Gene Hackman didn't look a head taller than Mikhail back in the 80s. I'd buy a hair over 5'7, and him wearing elevators next to Hackman.

My mom met him at a party back in the day, she was trying to walk through the crowd and felt someone pushing behind her, turned around a looked eye to eye with Baryshnikov. My mom is 5 4, and was not wearing heels.

Hmmm I always thought he was somewhere between 5'4" or 5'5". Incidentally I was watching an episode of Sex and the City and he was nearly as tall as Sarah Jessica Parker. I dunno what kind of foot wear she was wearing but assuming she is no bigger than 5'2" tall I doubt she was wearing 4 inch heels...

LOL, if Mikhail is 5'5, Glenn is around the 5'6, 5'7 max. I think that tall women you encountered was right. You should have your doctor measure you to confirm my suspicion. We might have to adjust all the listed heights on here, by an inch or so.

Glenn - the man's retired - who cares if he wears lifts now? I dont know if he wears lifts, but I would suspect he does. Also, the woman, again, sees the man in ballet shoes, not in street shoes, which can hide lifts. I don't know the answer, but, like 6footkate says, he did look closer to 5'5" next to SJP, which is even stranger cause you'd think he'd definitely want to look taller when being on the show. I don't know, but too much points to a lift wearer...

i dont agree with the several inches on top.the only thing that has me suspect is that he was in ballet shoes for that story.but its almost as if my encounters mean nothing was my problem.and the woman.another problem.but the ballet shoes is a strike against me.i think rob has him right if im wrong.i say no way 5-5. 5-6 if he had a slight sophisticated lift.he was truly 5-7.with the illusion of looking a hair over and under.but why would a ballet dancer wear lifts? wouldnt that be risky for back problems or foot problems? we or me must examine pics of him.especially with gregory hines who i saw weekly.

But, I'll forgive you and still assert no taller than 5'5", based on everything I've ever heard and read from people who have stood next to the man in BALLET shoes. Honest to God, I've always heard around 5'5". Now, if I just took everyone's word at it, I'd say he's only 5'3", based on that woman's experience. but, I'm not - I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that she was off, too.

unless the man had leg lengthening surgery or strecthed himself and inch and a half with yoga,or had mega lifts in flat low cut casual shoes,i think he is 5-6.5 to 5-7.more on the 5-7.i had a partner each time agree with me he was bigger than we thought.in fact,he gave the illusion of being my height at times when talking to him,depending on the pavement.i show proof on top,and people still doubt.ok,not the greatest pic.the most this pavement would give him is an inch.a 5-5 man isnt gonna look that tall next to.i havnt seen white nights in ages,but the vinyl lp i had showed him looking at least 5-7 next to 5-10,5-11 gregory hines.it would be more obvious and look ridiculous if he were 5-5.i appreciate your words leonari.

at least 5-6.5.this wasnt a gutter thing.where he was standing was a pavement rise to a building staircase.that height you have is wrong.you have to stop relying on second hand info.i met him several times in the month of january.all times he was around 5-7.maybe a hair under.met him in the early 90s too.then i thought 5-6.i was wrong.he was mentioned at 5-7 and that he is.a 5-5 man isnt gonna look that tall next to me.

Look at Glenn - he's CLEARLY leaning over by many inches. Baryshnikov was barely as tall, taller than Sara Jessica Parket in "Sex in the City". Give the girl heels, and she's at most 5'5"....
