Gday Rob, I am 26 years old and I’m just wondering if height can be recovered since I believe that I have lost around half and inch (give it take) of height from when I was 18 due to my measurement decreasing from weak 5’11 range at night. I have gotten quite determined with weightlifting which I think has caused bad posture but I am concerned that I may have permanently affected my height. I also believe that I have kyphosis and have been diagnosed with lordosis. Kind regards from you’re Aussie friend!

Editor RobThere can be bad posture and permanent problems like kyphosis, which can become permanent forms of height loss.
I think it's always worth doing even a simple stretch routine. Start small (5 minutes) and get into the habit for the first month. Then add a few more reps and make it a permanent 10-15 minute routine.
I personally feel it helps keep me more supple.

I see that I never actually posted on the Parkinson/Gibson comparison on this page. Here they are back to back: Click Here Without considering footwear, Parkinson looks about half an inch taller. Rob estimated Parkinson's loafers at 0.6"-0.7" range on 21/Mar/19 As for these dress shoes Gibson was wearing: Click Here Rob estimated them at 1.1"-1.2" range on 6/Nov/18 on Mel's page. So most likely about half an inch footwear difference as well making them likely an inch apart barefoot.
Parkinson was 67 at the time while Gibson was 46, but I guess Parkinson hadn't lost much. Gibson has always claimed 5'10" and *I think* Parkinson claimed 5'11". If Parkinson was as listed then Gibson's range with him could be anywhere from 175 cm flat to 176 cm flat. With other celebrities around that time such as 179 cm George Clooney & 180 cm range David Beckham, Parkinson's listing does seem about right.

@Rob: Thanks. I would have thought 0.6" max myself, but I defer to you on this one because I've never owned a pair of loafers so I'll use the 0.6"-0.7" range for the purposes of comparisons.

Editor RobI think zooming into that photo, it would be a little more than a half inch style. Depends also whether 1 or 3mm of insole, something hard to tell really.

Editor RobI would have said 0.6-0.7 is possible, but depends on how much insole there is.

I think he's more or less retired now. Over 5'10" in the 70's is possible since he measured up better than I expected to Vincent Price in Madhouse, though part of that could have been the angle. I looked into him quite a bit to compare him to Mel Gibson and he definitely looked around 5'10" in the 2000's when he was late 60's/early 70's. He often wore loafers with a small heel like this by that point: Click Here so he'd be at a disadvantage with many guests. He wasn't over 5'10" by then since he was shorter than George Clooney(5'10.5" max, imo) in 2003, but generally measured up fairly well to David Beckham: Click Here Wouldn't go under 177 cm by then. He had at least a half inch on Mel with at least a fraction less footwear while forcing his posture less.

Looks a bit low this for me. A 64 yr old Parkinson definitely edged out Paul McCartney in 1999. I'd have said 5'11 peak.

I saw him tonight on (more than)Enough rope with andrew Denton who would be about 5'6 or 5'7 and parkinson was atleast 5 inches taller. Even if he was 5'10 he never looked short. Let's just say i'm 5'10 and i never looked tall
