Rob, could Kitchen please join the Bond Actors tag as Bill Tanner?

My Dad used to watch Foyle's War and it's actually quite good. I've been watching it of late to feel close to him as he's been gone for nearly a year now.
Kids in the War years had to grow up so much more quickly.
I thought Michael was nearer to the 5ft8 mark. His posture is good, and that gives him a taller look.
5ft7.5. 😸👌

Watching Goldeneye just now, and standing next to Pierce Brosnan the top of his head was at Brosnan's eye level. Probably an honest 5'7".

@ Johnny - Believe me, Johnny, they look nothing like each other!
I have just seen the beginning of the 'Inspector Morse' episode, 'The Death of the Self', in which Mr Kitchen stars. He looks no taller than the average high-heeled woman and I bet he's going to show that he's considerably smaller than Morse himself! (John Thaw)
Here it goes then - 5ft7 tops!

What a weird last name. Must be Michael Keaton's doppelgänger.

Tall or short, young or old, he gets my vote as the sexiest man alive.

Kitchen is listed as 5' 7" on all the sites yet my wife read an article on Honeysuckle Weeks who plays Samantha Stewart in Foyle's War and in the article she says in the scenes where she was alongside Michael Kitchen she was told she had to wear flat shoes with no heels at all because she was taller than he and would have towered over him. Weeks is listed as 5' 6" so is Kitchen really 5' 7" I wonder?

So,like many tv detectives, he would have been too short to have been a Police Officer. In the 19th and early 20th century the height requirement for British Police officers was 5'10". It had reduced to 5'8" by around 1960 but was not abolished until the 1990's.

Watching him in the 1971 film Unman Wittering & Zigo when he would have been aged around 22, he stood face to face with 5'10 David Hemmings and was only an inch or so shorter. Now he's approaching sixty he may have lost a little height.

looked a few inches smaller than 5'9 ian richardson in to play the king, so 5'7 sounds about right
