There was mention of a rat stew in Alfred Hitchcock Presents this morning. ๐คฎ๐
I remember Mary and Laura were served rat stew in an episode of The Little House on the Prairie, and they didnโt like it at all. The programme was based in the mid-late 19th century, post American Civil War times, and money was tight.
Iโd sooner eat beans and rice!

๐๐๐ Happy Birthday Melissa! ๐๐๐
Pretty Melissa, with the forget-me-not blue eyes, turns 57 today. Many Happy Returns to Melissa Sue Anderson, immortalised in 'The Little House on the Prairie' as a young girl.
Well, she didn't grow as tall as her 'sister', played by Melissa Gilbert, who grew to 5ft4. She's under one-and-a-half years younger than Melissa Sue, but when you're very young, the height difference is extremely noticeable, to say the least!

So Melissa Sue Anderson IS here, after all! I'd looked for her under 'A' before, without success.
Melissa grew up very much in the public eye, starring as Mary, the older sister of Melissa Gilbert, in 'The Little House on the Prairie'. Melissa G is 20 months younger than her and was always considerably smaller, as one would expect at that age. Yet it seems the older Melissa ended up a bit shorter than the younger one, but only by an inch.
Maybe she is nearer to 5ft4 when she gets up, but I am settling for 5ft3. I saw her in a film at the cinema in the Summer of 1981 called 'Happy Birthday To Me'. It was 'X' rated and one of many horrors that Melissa Sue went on to make after she left the Prairie, not unlike fellow star Shannen Doherty, who played the niece of Melissa G and her very tall, blond-haired screen husband.
I remember thinking there and then, "What on Earth will Michael Landon be thinking about his eldest screen daughter's decision to go from something so sweet and innocent to a disturbed schoolgirl killer?"
The other Melissa branched out into films too, but more of the family variety! ๐จโ๐ฉโ๐งโ๐ง
