I agree with C-3po Matthew was about 2" shorter than Bill Paxton in U-571. Paxton is reportedly 5'11 so Mr. McConaughey looks to be about 5'10 tops?

Anonymous, I am a college professor, actor-singer, non-profit consultant, Doctoral student. I used to do a lot of extra work in LA, so I would see alot of folks. Now, I just keep my eyes open when I hang out around town.

I got two questions for you Mr. R. First off what is your occupation? Secondly how do you manage to see so many famous people? By the look of your comments it sounds like you've seen everyone in Hollywood.

Christian Bale was slightly taller than Matthew McConaughey by about a half-inch in "Reign of Fire."

Rob, how did you come to the conclusion that McConaughey is 5'11? His net listing is 6'0 1/2 and he at least seems this tall on screen, so what evidence/pictures lead you to this height?

From a newsgroup: "Saw Matthew McConaughey at the DMV .... Seemed taller than I'd thought."

He was originally listed as 5'11 even. Then it stretched to 5'11 3/4, and now even up to 6'0 1/2 on most sites.
In truth, he's probably a solid 181cm

Okay MHouillon, I have to defend my honor. Smoke was a high school student who had different views than I, but he had never seen any of the folks that I have seen personally. I NEVER underlisted anyone, but gave what I believe to be an accurate assessment of my personal experience. In addition, there are a number of folks who I have said were close to their reported height (Will Smith, Bob Saget) or higher (Nicole Kidman). I can say that in all cases, those who folks believe I underlisted I too believed them to be taller, but that's what Hollywood does - creates a world of myth and magic. In addition, there are certain folks (
Kiefer Sutherland) who people believed I underlisted, but eventually pictures appeared which validated my report. I offer you a challenge - tell me who I have underlisted and I will attempt to support my view. PS - MD who wrote after you comes to the same conclusion about McConaughey that I did!

The man looks to be 5'-11.5" at most with regular shoes. I think barefoot he's probably 5'-10" to 5'-10.5" but no less.

Ive met Matt several times over the past few years and can say for sure that he is 5'11". I saw him in Alabama two weeks ago and i'm 5"10" and as he stood next to me he was just a little taller than me.

I think Mr R has a penchant for underlisting everyone's height for some reason. There's no way McConaughey is anything less than 5'11", just about every height listed by him is docking atleast an inch or half inch from the person's actual height. 177 cm (almost 5'10" is average height for a man), there is no way Matt McConaughey is only 2 cms taller than the average man.

I saw him at the U-571 premiere, and he was pretty much the shortest man around, save Harvey Keitel. I would say 5'10.5" at best.
