How tall is Matt Monro

I saw Matt Monro perform live on two occasions back in the 1970 and 1980s. When he first came on to the stage, there was a very audible gasp from the audience. He was tiny. I would say more like 5ft tall. He wore stacked heels. He was dressed immaculately and was smoking a cigarette which he later put out on the stage.
After a while you got used to his height and just listened to the best voice in the world.
A classy performer and a brilliant voice. Great repartee with the audience.Sadly he passed away a couple of years later. RIP.

Adam Faith is listed at 5'5 on celebheights. I've also seen a listing of 5'5 for Freddie Starr on the internet, but Adam looked taller, see Youtube clip.

I have to say, I don't think Matt was 5'6" and more likely in the realm of 5'2" to 5'4". On a quick look, there aren't many photos out there to compare him against other celebrities so the above link is more than valuable. Good style of a guy, perfect crooner's face, chill and friendly.

What's in a voice? Greater size can lend to a deeper voice, the components for same being upsized. Not always the case though. Some people have particular attributes that don't necessarily correlate with their overall size and the includes the vocal chords etc. Further again, those who can sing deep don't necessarily speak as deep. IMO, Matt Munro's speaking voice didn't necessarily inform you as to the deepness of his singing voice.

On the other hand, the timbre of Paul Robeson's speaking voice was very heavy and heavier again when he sang, utilising all the attributes singer's are trained for.

Revising my estimation - the piece linked below seems to indicate Matt probably was ballpark 5'2" (maybe less) and none the worse for it, great singer and wonderful stage presence. Gone way too soon.

Would have doubt Matt was taller than 5'4"
I got to know Matt's oldest son Mitch who interestingly was roughly my height (5'10"), a really nice guy who - like his Dad - passed away too young.

My dad used to play guys like Matt Monro, Perry Como, Andy Williams etc back in the day. Given the music I was into at the time, I was like ok, that's cool but..... It took a few years before I realised how good these guys were but I always loved Born Free by Monro - what a voice. Interestingly, the guys I have exampled were a lot shorter than I imagined them to be - I really only saw them in portrait on album covers - of course you can't judge height by the head/face but to me, Monro and Como at least looked and sounded like they were reasonably big guys - I was surprised to find out it was not the case.

Matt Monro was the greatest singer who ever lived or will ever live on this face of the Universe. He was perfect in every way possible way.
He sang with his heart and soul. Nobody will ever compare with his talent and grace ever.

Tony Bennett is reckoned to be 5'7".

In other pictures, Matt Monro is several inches shorter than Alma Cogan, and also similarly shorter than a group of Philippino people, who I believe are shorter than average.

Heads don't vary very much in size. His body is very small in relation to his head. The padded suit shoulders compensate for that.

I doubt that he was more than 5'4", but none the worse for that
