You will never guess how I came onto this page this afternoon, via the random celeb route! It is here that I found your comment which must have just missed the comments page!

I don't think that Maryse is much smaller than the young gentleman that she is stood next to but I think Rob just shades it, although Maryse has a little bit on Rob when she is wearing heels, and a little bit more on me! If wearing heels does given women confidence then they should go for it but I don't think women just wear them to enhance height, some do but others may enjoy wearing them for other reasons, I see smaller women about who don't wear heels and taller women who do, as well as smaller women who wear heels and taller women who don't. It's great that they can give women a lot of confidence, so they should go for it and wear them!

My Mum and I had a lot of fun speculating how tall we could make ourselves taller by stuffing things in our shoes, then of course you could combine that with what you could add to the top of your head, bundles of hair!

I think that's fantastic that the army and police force serve each other in the way that you said, what you said does ring a bell, maybe my Dad had mentioned it once! Your boyfriend Jim sounds very strong and this is good as it is one aspect of good health!
I am touched by what he said about me and I would like to say that you are both very nice people, I am proud to be friends with you and I know I would say the same about Jim if I interacted with him. Hopefully in the future I will have the opportunity of meeting you both, this would be something I would look forward to a lot!

Reading this message this afternoon has cheered me up a lot, thanks for that. I suffer from OCD as well as you know and I am insecure as a person, I constantly worry that I have said things wrong and that you have fallen out with me.

@ Nik - Look what heels can do to the height of a woman! You wouldn't think that Maryse is really smaller than the young man she's standing next to! I
tell you from my own personal experience that wearing a pair of high heels can really send a woman's confidence through the roof!
I see you are converting your Mum to your way of thinking, getting her involved in a conversation about how much height can be gained with the aid of a pair of shoes! You got my brain going with what you said about frame sizes as well, and how two people of the same height can look to be different heights because of the size of variable parts, for example the legs, of the body! That walking stick I'm using (Ha ha flipping ha!) is one of those adjustable ones, and although the person from whom I borrowed it is all of 5ft9, it barely needed to be altered because I have long legs and a small body! Okay, I will let you into a secret! It is actually Jim's, so I can see why that it! He is 5ft9, and his weight is all in his body, which is big and powerful. He carried a 15-stone Great Dane up 4 flights of stairs when the poor dog, named 'Drum', was ill! I can't see many people being able to do that, so I think that the way his weight is distributed is probably one which enables the person to lift incredibly hefty things more easily. The exercises that he used to do in the Army would involve lifting dreadfully cumbersome backpacks and such like! Rather him than me - I loathe lifting things!
I mentioned to him that your Dad was a Policeman and he thought you'd be interested to know that the lads from his section of the Army were responsible for training the relevent part of the Police force for using firearms correctly. I think he said they are called the Territorial Support Group. That chat took place this evening over the phone! He also asked me where you live. He said if you lived any nearer, you'd have not just me as a friend but him too. He knows a surprising amount about your skin condition as well and he sends you his best. He voiced concern that you haven't had an easy time living with that all your life.
We have another nice 'Summertime Comedy Evening' tonight with the sitcom 'Porridge' - my Mum's favourite! Yesterday was 'Blackadder' night - My Dad's favourite and tomorrow is the turn of 'Some Mothers Do ave em!', so if you're interested it is on the 'Yesterday' TV Channel! Yippee!
Right then, it's time for me to settle down for the evening so I bid you a good latter part of the week! Just two more days and we have another weekend! Hooray!

I was surprised when I found out about Eden Taylor-Draper being 5'2", I always got the impression she was about 5'4" - 5'5" so if something "cunning and clever" was done it certainly fooled me!
I wouldn't stuff things in my shoes but I am sure there are quite a few people that would, my Mum and I had a conversation recently and we speculated about how much extra height we could gain by doing this!
As for build, that changes the goal posts quite a lot and can mask someone's previous build thus influencing how tall that person is perceived to be, it is incredible that people of the same height can look to be of different heights to people. Skeletal spread is fascinating too from the point of view that people of the same height can have different sized legs, torsos, necks, heads, etc.

I've always been fond of that word for a baby owl. I thought it so strange when I first came across it that I thought I was having my leg pulled!

Aren't there a wide variety of ways used by people in order to give out the impression of extra height? I think that often with hair, it happens by accident! I read a few very funny comments today on some new guy's page! That this guy goes to great lengths to make his hair stand to attention made - eh - my hair stand on end!

The better methods (I mean, you couldn't get much worse!) are the ones which look like they've happened by accident, as is clearly the case with Eden Taylor Draper. I'd be most surprised if a little 'cunning and clever' wasn't used to give the effect that was so effortlessly achieved on her!

You mentioned build as well, and that is one of nature's unfairest lotteries, because like height, it is all down to the skeletal spread. I think it's a bit easier to look broader though, than taller, because when a person gains weight, especially if it takes the form of muscle 💪, then he or she is going to look (and be!) stockier. The fact that the person started out with a 'bird-like' build will be a secret!

As for stuffing out our shoes 👞👞👟👟, would you? That really did make me laugh, but I hear that those nice, 👣 bouncy 👣 insoles 👣are 👣 comfortable and highly affordable..... 😏

I most certainly agree that someone's hair can give the illusion that they are a different height to what they actually are. If someone has hair that is sticking up it is impossible to know where the top of their head is so you are left wondering, how far up does the crown of their head go? This is because right under the surface of some peoples hair you don't know if the top of their head is nigh, or whether it's just more and more, well hair!
Another thing that can give people the illusion that someone is taller than what they are is by people stuffing things in their shoes! As you know other common factors that create illusions in terms of human height are people's build and proportions.
You mentioned about Eden Taylor-Draper in your last comment, I always got the impression she was taller than 5'2" by a few inches, that must have been an illusion on my part!
There is nothing illusionary about Maryse being nearly 5'8", I started off by having her down as 5'7.5" and on further observations have kept increasing my prediction. I think she is probably just shy of the 5'8" mark, maybe 5'7.875"!

The most I have ever done on my own hair is 14, 7 per side!

Lately, especially with girls and women on the Soaps, I have been looking to see if their frequently changeing hair has any effect on the look of their height!
There is a young, blonde actress on 'Emmerdale' (called Belle in the Soap) and I thought she had grown a bit, but then I noticed she'd had quite a few inches lopped off her hair! She really does look a little taller, which is more than can be said the other year when she dyed her hair dark, but kept it the same length!
OK, so perhaps she is older and more confident, but I had to look to see if it was the same 5ft2 actress, as the one I was 'eyeing up' - one of my own silly little terms for measuring someone! - and it was! The actress with the shorter hair I thought was possibly 5ft3.5! That's quite a jump! 🐸
I have just remembered her name. It is Eden Taylor-Draper.

Ironically I just did a write - up on a girl called Liza - because I liked her hair and I thought it gave her the confidence to look taller!
Now she is a girl whose hair I would have pounced on without so much as a single hesitation, and then when assembly would have been over, she would have walked out the proud owner of 25 plaits in her hair!
This time round, Maryse (what a pretty name!) can have 5ft8!

Typically, athletes and famous people lie the most about heights and weights. I would be she is just over 5'7. I asked a girl I was interviewing for a story (a volleyball player) if her height was accurate. She was listed at 6'1 and told me that was right (with shoes). She was 6'0 barefoot. So I would say 5'7 and 5'8 with shoes.
