Back in the day when it was believed Ali was a solid 6’3” I would’ve given Malcolm X about 6’3 1/2”. With Ali now justifiably listed as 6’2 1/2” it stands to reason that Malcolm X was more like 6’3” himself. Ali very close in height and sometimes could look on par but averaged out the edge goes to Malcolm X. The difference between the two similar to the difference between Ali and Jim Brown.

I was 6'3 3/8" and about 170 back when I was a distance runner. Today I am a lot heavier than that, but I unhealthy thin for 6'3" is NOT 170s or even 160s, maybe 140s would be.

I'd say 80kg (176lb) is very slim for a 6'3 man. It's within the normal range but probably in the lower end. I'm not sure. 185lbs seems more typical for a 6'3 guy with a medium/small frame and low body fat percentage.

80kg is a normal weight for a 6ft3 man ,not skinny just normal sized.
Between from the few pictures i have seen of him, he seemed to have edged Ali a bit so definitely a solid 6ft3 .

178lbs is rather light for a 6'3 man. Most full-grown men at that height will weigh at least 190lbs, I'd say. 170lbs and below would be a veritable health hazard, in my opinion.

To what Christian said below, 6’2.75 is always a possibility for a person who measures 6’3” because we don’t know what time of day the person measured or whether they simply rounded up. Not saying it’s the case with Malcolm X because it’s tough to tell as the contemporaries from that time in history are limited other than Muhammad Ali really but we’re not sure if that’s Ali’s low either. He can look 189cm as well some times. So anything could be a possibility

Not hardly. 178 is a perfectly healthy weight for a 6'3" man. I knew a guy who was 116 lbs. at 6'6". Three inches taller and 62 lbs. lighter. This guy wasn't sick, just naturally super slender. In the "underweight" BMI category, but no medical problems at all. Of course he was incredibly slight, but didn't look freaky or emaciated even in a bathing suit.

Malcolm X was 6'3" minimum. He had very erect posture, edged out Muhammad Ali, and made MLK look like a shrimp. I think he may have been around 6'4" out of bed, and 6'3.5" otherwise.

I'm thinking the 5'9.5 for MLK was the same situation as Tupac being measured 6'0. That is, his feet were pointing downwards and was measured from his toes.

Being a half-inch taller than another person means being barely taller than said person; a quarter-inch height difference is essentially not discernible to the human eye.

Many articles give him 6'4", specifically in reference to Denzel Washington(who was given a flat 6 foot) playing him. I can live with 6'3", though. What I don't understand, however, is why you've added X before Martin Luther King Jr. I can only hope he'll get a listing sometime in the near future!

Nice you added him. 6'3 ish seems right. I believe he had a .25-.5 advantage on Ali and I think Ali was 6'2.75 at his peak (low of 6'2.5-high of 6'3 for me).

Cheers Rob, got a look at him with Ali in footage at the end of the Malcolm X film. Looked taller, I thought he looked in 6'3-6'3.25 range. I looked at some more photos and thought he looked a decent 6'3 guy, so I'll give him 6'3.25 peak! Similar to Jimmy Stewart and Gary Cooper, not the 6'4 often claimed, that might have been roughly in shoes. Might have lost 0.25 before his death out of pure fright seeing those horrid KKK masks ;-)
