6ft1 is ridiculous...Luther was 6ft2 bare minimum, arguably up to 6ft2½
Ian Vector said on 18/May/21
6' 2" seems reasonable.

6’2 peak not 6’1

Luther was no more than 6ft 1 flat..
OriginalAnon said on 8/Oct/20
He is at a minimum 6'2''. He could have been as much as 190cm.
He is the best singer ever for me.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 5/Jun/20
Rob, maybe a little over 6ft2?
Certainly think it was likelier than him being under
Canson said on 27/Dec/19
@Christian: very interesting and that could be true

@Canson
I could be wrong, but it might have to do with making them seem more "legit". Same reason why some people claim halves or even quarters.

I reckon he'd be about 189cm (6 ft 2 1/2.) I asked my Dad about Peter Sallis, and Google has him listed as 165cm (5 ft 5). And here Peter is listed as 167.6cm (5 ft 6). Dad told me he is 5 ft 5 1/2. He is in between both listings. But, hey, we could be wrong.

@MrTBlack: yep Cornelius is a legit 6’4”. I agree! And Luther looked 2” shorter. His 6’3” listing imho was rounded up from what he’s listed in some places at 6’2 1/2. There is a possibility that he woke up to 6’3” at one point and shrunk to 6’2” especially when he was around 300 lbs. but I for sure wouldn’t put him under 6’2.75 out of bed and 6’2 at his lowest. I’ve never seen a good pic of he and Barry White to where I could determine their difference, but my guess is that they would be within maybe 1/2”-3/4” of each other.

@Canson
Yup 6’2”. I also remember several 6’2” listings long before the 6’3” listing which isn’t veryfied and just speculated by fans. He also looked bang on 2” shorter than 6’4” Don Cornelius on his soul train appearance.
@Andy
Nope 6’2”. How can he be more than what he was frequently listed as?
Canson said on 22/Nov/17
6’2” range Remember that his weight fluctuated a lot during his career as well. He died of some of the things that are associated with being extremely overweight.

I Think That Luther Vandross Was ACTUALLY 6ft 3in (191cm).
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 10/Dec/16
Did look about 6ft3 with Bowie
David said on 22/Nov/15
I was standing right next to Luther Vandross in a book store in Los Angeles. I am 6ft 1½in. I can assure you that Luther Vandross was at least 6ft 2½in.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 1/Aug/15
@MrTBlack: I'm aware of that. They tend to round up or down. He was described both 6ft2 and 6ft3. Personally, I think he could appear either of those on occasion. But I reckon he was closer to the former. Large-framed guys like Vandross can look taller than they really are.
"Luther Vandross height: 6ft 2¼in (189cm)"
MrTBlack said on 24/Dec/14
@Rampage,
Seems unlikely since he was listed as this on a news paper allthough they rarely use 1/2 inches.
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 17/Oct/14
Rob, could a fraction over 6ft2 be closer?
Hugh said on 21/Apr/08
This man was a legitimate 6ft3 and one hell of a performer.

6'3 seems exactly right.

He once said, "I'm six feet three", according to the obit to him in the lastest issue of Rolling Stone, in reponse to his lifelong weight problems. I personally didn't know that he was so tall.
Mr. R said on 11/Apr/05
He was always listed at 6-3. He was usually the tallest person on the stage, even when he was skinny. I think he is closer to 6-3.
