I think near 6ft2 is possible. Had about 2in on Layne and appears to edge James Hetfield. 5ft11¾ is the lowest I can see for Layne with the full 6ft within reach.

Mickie, I think that height difference is accurate, but I think it's more like Layne Staley at 6'0-0.25 and Jerry Cantrell at 6'1.5-1.75

Hi, Keith, and Viper, you're right. Layne was easily 6', or more, even after deterotiang post mortem- even saying those words gross me out. The above photo has him placed behind everyone. Jerry is very tall- at least 6'2" (sorry, I'm American and wish we used the metric system).

Take a look at Cantrell and Hatfield at 0:12 (Click Here), they're almost twins. I think between 6'1-6'1.5" is his height, but it may be wrong.

I hate to keep posting here, but, Layne was definitely over 6', and even toward his demise. Police an d coroner reports state this. All you have to do is see how they placed him in professional photoshoots. Even the photo used above (no offense!) has him looking shorter than Mike Starr and Sean Kinney, who are probably average height. He was taller than both, which is documented by other photos. Plus, during Facelift and Dirt, he's over 6', which makes me wonder how tall Jerry Cantrell is. I'm thinking around 6'2", or about They were really similar in many ways.. reflective tattoos, similar drug abuse, AMAZING HARMONIES- which is the most important. Again, as was told by by relatives, Layne had a bone disorder toward the end of his life which led to him using an assistive cane. The weight that keeps circulating is post-mortem. Please, please stop. I think he'd be 150, or more, when healthier, but he was a chain smoker, too. Anyway, I need to stop. I feel like this is so disrespectful of his life and legacy.

Christian, that’s what his autopsy had him at. Obviously the result of years of hardcore heroin addiction just ravaging his body. Appetite is pretty much non-existent but you’re still able to function at some level. The last known photos of him were taken maybe 3 years before he died and he looked exceptionally bad then, 125lbs maybe...can’t imagine what he looked like at in the high two digits!

Thank you for making this page rob I always feel Layne is one of the least represented in grunge despite being one of the best (the best in my opinion). you think he is 5 11-1/2? I’ve noticed in some pictures he looks very tall, taller than jerry and others he is almost mike Starr’s height is this because of his posture?

His drug issues were why is weight was so low. 182 cm is arguable, I would've accepted anything from 181 - 184 tbh. Great singer.

A friend of mine was 100 pounds at strong 5'7" and he looked easily 20 or 30 pounds more.
Layne maybe was this weight due to his drug issues, 182cm for me.

Listed 6ft and 6ft1 in places. Honestly would have gone with somewhere between...never would have guessed this low. Super skinny guy though so naturally looked taller.

Fascinating that he can weigh 125lbs at 5'11½ and appear reasonably healthy. I believe Christian Bale weighed around that range and he looked like a living corpse, if you'll pardon the oxymoron. I'm slightly taller than this guy and when I weighed 150lbs when I was 22 yrs/old and I was on the move 15 hrs a day (working in a warehouse, doing theatre, partying, exercising, etc.) I looked as lean as was healthily possible for me. I don't think it would be possible for me to weight that little without being largely sedentary and completely devoid of energy. It might be partly related to bone structure (wrist size and ankle size are pretty good indicators hereof). If you have more bone mass, not only will you weigh more because of the bone, you will also carry more muscle mass naturally.
