Guys, if you see his claims makes 6'9.75" make sense.
He measured 6’9.5 a few weeks ago so how would 6’9.75 make sense?
@Rampage: either to make his accomplishments more impressive or because so many people make it a point to make him taller than he is. To be honest we don’t even know what time if the day he measured 6’9.5. Very possible he never grew. Durant has proven prior to him embellishing his height to be a truth teller in a liar’s world at least on paper. Of course these guys who were really 6’6” and listed 6’8 or 6’9” forced him to be called out
Rampage(-_-_-)Clover said on 23/Oct/19
Why does a solid 6ft9 guy (I can accept the extra half I guess) need to claim 6ft11?
Canson said on 23/Oct/19
@Rob and Wingspan Pro: its 2-2.5” between them. If we measured both In the afternoon my guess would be Durant would only be what he was before on this site 6’9.25 and I don’t rule out 6’9” if that was a morning measurement for him. Durant May be one of the guys who actually is an afternoon measurement or close to one simply because he didn’t want to be listed any higher. I don’t go below 6’9.25ish. Lebron could be just under 6’7 if the 6’7.25 was morning. The Team lied about 6’8.5”. He may be that with shoes. Lebron admitted on two occasions since he’s played that he’s 6’7”

Canson said on 21/Oct/19
@Shane: I’m a bit different. I would only care when it came to being drafted since money is on the line. Then I would want the higher listing. But After that I wouldn’t care. Meaning I wouldn’t want to be listed taller just for the sake of saying that I am or for people to think I am taller than I really am. I’d claim my barefoot 6’4” regardless of how they list me in the pros to be honest. I just go with that since that’s how I would be for the majority of the day

@Canson I'd be like pretty much every player besides Durant and want the taller listing for sure, yes, especially after being listed in shoes my whole life. It would be weird to go down an inch or two on the roster. Also, with you being a strong 6'4" barefoot at a low I'm guessing to most people you look 6'5" and to some, 6'6".
Canson said on 16/Oct/19
@Shane: if that were you would you want to be listed taller? Meaning if you were in KD’s shoes? If it were me, I would want at my size to be listed taller during the draft process perhaps but once I’m already established I wouldn’t care if I came out to only be 6’4” versus being listed 6’6” in shoes like I was in college. If I were KD not so sure. He is the opposite but I doubt it would hurt him now even if he’s listed taller being the players and coaches and everyone else already knows he’s taller at least in shoes. If in a personal life outside of playing ball I would rather go with the height that I measure the most which is 6’4” because it’s what I look and claim

@Rising: funny thing is I remember the discussion you and I were having once and you said Dray was prob 6’5” and Klay’s measurement was probably not as early. You were spot on! My guess for Klay is that it was as early but that Draymond was a true “out of bed” via laying down possibly and that Klay was probably an hour after waking perhaps. He looks probably a CM taller it not half inch max
Canson said on 10/Oct/19
@Rising: maybe 4-4.5” but my guess is KD was morning measurement. Draymond even went on to measure himself and was 6’5.75 lol. See the bench next to him where he was laying down lol. I bet KD was 6’9.75 or 6’10 and Draymond 6’5.75 is likely out of bed like you said before once and he’s down to 6’5” flat. He was only able to get just to 6’5.75 which means to me he can’t even hit 6’6 out of bed. I bet KD is 6’9.25 or 6’9.5 at a low tops too
Rising174cm said on 9/Oct/19
Now that we know Draymond Green is only 6'5", Durant really looks nothing over 6'9" with him and it makes sense why Durant looked 6'9" with Klay Thompson yet at least 6'9.5" next to a supposedly 6'5.75" Green. I was right that Green's 6'5.75" measurement was early. Next to other confirmed heights, Durant consistently looks around 6'9". Dirk had 2" on him and he's no taller than 6'11" as you can see when Dirk has stood next to legit 7'0" Pau Gasol and 6'11.5" Tyson Chandler.
Canson said on 9/Oct/19

@Johnson: 6’10” morning height so what Rob had him before was likely correct 6’9.5”. He looked half inch on Cousins.
By the way you were way off on Derrick Rose. You didn’t believe me when I said 6’1” range. He’s now listed 6’1”.
Editor Rob
Durant could indeed still fall to 9.5, but it might be later in the day.
Saying that, straight out of bed who knows what Durant really measures...obviously clears 6ft 10 but how much...
It could go either way tho, Rob. He may be what viper says although I would think not. If he were 6’9.5 he may have been rounded down. They prob to be honest know height varies or I’m sure that they realize with scrutiny (in some cases like Green or Rose or Thomas provided they’re all 6’5 6’1 and 5’8 at lows) that the measurements wouldn’t hold water if they were actually validated. But I tend to agree with you that durant is probably over 6’10” out of bed. My estimate is 6’10.5 out of bed 6’9.5” at a low or maybe 1/8” less. DeAndre Jordan still is taller than him. Jordan got a 6’11” listing meaning he probably was at least 6’10.5 when measured and maybe he dips to 6’9.75 like he was measured before. Jordan plays a different position tho Center so he was prob ok with it
Editor Rob
Most people would have estimated him 6ft 10 range, but what he falls to at worst is debatable. I'd love one of these guys to show their first thing out of bed and evening height to see how much they shrink!

Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 8/Oct/19
Perhaps KD is more strong 6'9 1/2 while more chances given 6'9 3/4 a low to DeAndre than Durant. 6'10 no chance. Strong 6'10 Chris Bosh noticeable edge out KD. The 1/4 upgrade didn't help much.
Johnson said on 8/Oct/19

@Viper: I wonder if it was really a full 6’10” to begin with. I also agree with you. People made a big deal about him being taller than he was listed but other players will come out shorter than they are and I bet there won’t be as much attention on them
Canson said on 7/Oct/19
@Rob: he doesn’t even look 5” taller than draymond Green. I doubt he didn’t stand tall. Likelihood is the 6’9.5” is his barefoot height at a low and in his case they didn’t give an exact measurement so it could’ve been 6’9.75 for all we know

6’10” morning height so he’s still around what rob had him before 6’9.5 especially a bigger guy like him. So that wasn’t much of a lie to begin with as people made it sound. It’s likely that DeAndre Jordan is more 6’10.5 meaning he’s probably 6’9.75 or 6’10 afternoon
And I don’t see why the speculation “at least 6’10-6’11” because he just measured 6’10” that’s what he is

@Junior: I totally agree 6’9-6’9.5 is possible for KD. KG I doubt is that much over 6’11”. I guess that’s possible but 6’11” flat is too. He is noticeably shorter than shaq. As for Webber 205 is possible but I’d say a bit weaker. 204-205. See him with an aged Magic and that’s 1.5”. Webber didn’t have 3” on Jalen Rose who was 6’6”. Sotoris posted a pic of them just a couple days ago and it’s 1.5” with magic johnson and C Webb. Not to mention Mo Cheeks said that Webber was 6’8-6’9
GreyV said on 6/Aug/19
Funny how KD is one of the very few who didn't lie about his height, but everybody else in the league and the media made him taller than he actually is. He's a legit 206cm, maybe 207cm guy. I can buy 6'10" on shoes, but I hate that sort of measurement, since it shouldn't matter how tall you are in shoes.
My guess:
min. 6'9"
max. 6'9.75"
Now is it possible that he had already lost a bit of height at the Draft Combine, making him a 6'10" out of bed? 'Cause these guys lose a lot more during the day, and I can't see him lower than 6'9".
Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 5/Aug/19
@Canson But more chance is that KD is somewhere 6'9 1/4-3/8 zone not under it and KG a solid 6'11 1/8. I'm not sure about Chris Webber but he look 205cm range to me.
Canson said on 2/Aug/19
@Junior: exactly. And that’s all commentators. Hubie Brown and even Chris Webber who is usually honest about height did it. Webber claimed 6’9.5 (that’s a shoe height for him) and said Durant would probably be at least 3” taller than he is. He’s probably never even stood with him and Webber has said before he’s 6’9” and people who’ve met him that I’ve heard say 6’8/6’9. Spencer Haywood was one of them saying he wasn’t as tall as he expected. Webber stood next to garnett when they played and he was towered. He was also noticeably shorter than 6’9.75 (at best) Rasheed Wallace. Wallace was also noticeably shorter than Garnett. 7’0” is ridiculous let alone 7’1”. 6’11” at least he claimed but that’s in shoes rounded up. He probably did that to make what he’s done sound better same way Barkley would claim his barefoot height and round down from 6’4 5/8 or 6’4 1/2 to 6’4” at times
Chris Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 31/Jul/19

So a person talking in shoes Durant would be 6’10” range just as Russell Westbrook calls Durant 6’10” and himself 6’3”. Russ is 6’2.25 max like he was when drafted so Durant may be 6’9.25 perhaps

@ Canson: I think what I wrote was quite clear but just to clarify - Kevin Durant's true height WITHOUT shoes would be 6'9" unless he has grown since the Draft Combine 2007/08.
His height WITH shoes (his NBA height) would be between 6'10.25" and 6'11".
There has been some confusion as to his NBA height which usually go by height with shoes so hopefully this clarifies his height for both with and without shoes.
Canson said on 27/May/19
@Wolfsbane: are you saying he would be listed at that in the NBA or would be that in shoes? The would be part is unclear because none of that changes what he actually is 6’9” range

He measured 6'9" without shoes and 6'10.25" with shoes at the Draft Combine 2007/08.
NBA heights are widely measured with shoes. Many players add 2 inches between no shoes and with shoes so Kevin Durant's height would be between 6'10.25" and 6'11" with shoes depending on the shoes he is wearing.

Canson said on 3/Feb/19
I’ve also spoken with people who’ve seen him in person in the DC area and he’s 6’10 range in shoes 6’9” range barefoot. If we see him with Draymond Green who’s 6’6 range in shoes 6’5 barefoot he’s only 4-4.5” taller tops

I was at a cookout with durant years ago. Stood around him for hours. I'm a smidge over 6'0 with shoes on.
I've never felt so short in my life. 2 of my friends who were with me are both 6'3 with shoes and also looked laughably short.
He also has horrible posture.. He's easily 7'0 in shoes.
Literally Google KD with anybody else in the league listed as 6'11 or 7'0... KD always looks the same height or taller.
Canson said on 26/Jan/19
@Junior: I wouldn’t go that far. It’s very possible he can dip to 6’9 especially after a game. But the latter would constitute an extreme low. 6’9.25 is reasonable imho
Canson said on 12/Jan/19
@Viper: correct they would not. People say that all the time about him but he’s an honest guy in an inflator’s market. If he’s over 6’9” it’s a fraction not an inch or two and prob not even Half if we go by lows like for you being 6’2.75ish and me being 6’4.25ish
Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 11/Jan/19

His pre draft is 6’9” so he obviously isn’t 6’11”. Durant isn’t 5” taller than Melo or 4” taller than Lebron.
Canson said on 8/Jan/19
@TrevorM: if he’s 6’7” it means that Lebron is only 6’5 or possibly a hair under. I’ve met Melo in person and he looked at worst a very legit 6’6”. Look at KD with Melo and he’s surely not 6’7”. Melo is also shorter than Lebron
Canson-6'4 3/8 said on 25/Dec/18
@Rising: I’d lean toward weak 6’10” for Giannis today. Duhon is right he is taller than Durant today. He looks taller with Kobe. Giannis looks 6’10”ish with him imho. As for the others
Durant imho is maybe a hair over 6’9” at a low. The 6’9.25 was probably a better look. He would easily be 6’10 out of bed though. I would say Curry is 6’1.5 judging how he stacks up to Draymond and being that he was in the same class as Blake and they were all measured early morning. Curry looks shorter than Westbrook who I do believe would be 6’2.25 like measured. I also have Harden at his low at 6’3.5 max. He doesn’t look as tall as most 6’4” range guys
Rising - 174 cm said on 24/Dec/18
Durant doesn't look more than 5" taller than Harden to me.
Click Here Click Here Click Here Click Here Durant was 2 in those photos and this one seems to have been right before his 24th birthday:
@Canson: They look the same height there, imo, but interestingly, Durant looks much taller than usual with both, though only 7" taller than Steph Curry so maybe that photo favors right to left.
@Duhon: I wondered about Giannis. I'd guess 6'11" Garnett about 4-5 cm taller there, but does Giannis really have an inch longer head than Garnett? Garnett's head does seem kind of small to me for a near 7 footer, but is it under 10"? Kobe does have a small head for a 6'5" guy at 9"-9.5" range, but still Giannis' head is disproportionately large with him so the difference is smaller than it looks there. Though he honestly looks at least 4" taller than Middleton in those photos and maybe 1.5" shorter than 6'11.25" Brook Lopez so he's definitely grown.
I don't think Giannis attended the pre-draft camp, but Canson is pretty much right: "When we first drafted Giannis, we measured him at 6-foot-8½," Bucks GM John Hammond says.
Click Here Supposedly 7'3" wingspan. ESPN says he grew 2.5" the rest of the season to 6'11", but more noteworthy is that Hammond says the Bucks measured Giannis 6'8.5" when they drafted him. This quote is more believable from the end of the 2014 season "Measured at 6 feet, 9 1/2 inches without shoes on Thursday, Antetokounmpo is going to have to add strength in order to continue to improve."
Click Here This is also interesting: “I am now 6-10 and one quarter,” Antetokounmpo said smiling.'
Click Here Of course, that last article is mentioning only shoe heights for Durant and George without specifying that so it's confusing. I assume the 6'9" when drafted was a round up of the 6'8.5" the Bucks measured him, but was Giannis claiming 6'10.25" without or with shoes? I'd think with considering the supposed 6'9.5" measurement without shoes at the end of the 2014 season. I can buy 6'9.5" without shoes and a full inch growth is quite rare after being drafted. I could believe taller next to Middleton, but not as much with Lopez and especially Garnett.

@Rising: I see some pics where it looks more than 4” with Durant and Draymond but usually not much over
Canson said on 13/Dec/18
@Rising: only thing with the timing is that they’re all measured around the same time. Now with Green I can see him laying down for his or being one of the first. Or padded socks maybe. Now Klay I could see being a guy who is an hour out of bed perhaps and I think he would wake up at least 6’6”. I tried to compare both to Andre Iguodala and to Shaun Livingston. Iggy is hard to gauge too. Sometimes he looks 6’5 other times can look his draft measurement or near it (6’5.5). Livingston looks 6’6” range though
@Tall Greek Boy: to be honest Durant has looked up to 4” taller than Melo in a pic or two due to angle. I highly doubt it’s just 6cm between them. Melo is likely 198-199 anywhere in that range but Durant has to be no less than 206. he’s 206-207 to be honest. It’s around a 3” diff. Allen Iverson is likely 179. His own coach said 5’10/5’11 (Larry Brown who is of similar height with him) only couple inches shorter.

Durant is no more than 204cm . Has about 23 to 24cm on 180cm Iverson. Doesn’t have more than 6cm on Carmelo Anthony. Durant is gigantic but he’s not a full 6ft9.
Rising - 174 cm said on 11/Dec/18
@Canson: I'd guess Thompson about half an inch taller from what I've seen, but sometimes it's hard to see any difference. Also, Thompson doesn't look more than maybe 3.5" shorter than Durant while Green looks closer to 4" shorter, imo. So my guess is Thompson's 6'5.75" measurement wasn't that early while Green may be another case like Blake Griffin. I have to look at Curry more.
Canson said on 10/Dec/18
@Rising: I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Durant is slightly over 6’9”. I’ve kinda suspected it for a while. Maybe not quite 6’9.5 but that is very possible. However, 6’9.25 like Rob had him previously looks pretty good imho. I’ve noticed with Demarcus Cousins that he looks maybe a cm taller. I believe Cousins to be 6’9” flat at his low. I would say Klay 6’5 3/8 maybe Draymond 6’5” flat Curry 6’1.5
Canson said on 10/Dec/18
@Rising: how much do you estimate with Green and Thompson? I’ve seen times when similar and others where there is a difference. I believe both measured early but that Thompson is probably a fraction taller. Thompson looks to be standing better than Green though. I did see Steve Kerr call Green 6’5 and saw Alvin Gentry day he’s closer to 6’5 than 6’6”. Based on how they look, I would go with (max 6’5.5) maybe 196.5 for Klay and 6’5 for Draymond

It's annoying how much most around the NBA and most fans exaggerate Durant's height. Here he is with Dirk:
Click Here That was during Durant's 4th season when he was 22 and a 6'11" Dirk would mean Durant looks no more than 6'9".
Klay Thompson and Draymond Green were both supposed to have measured 6'5.75", though Thompson looks a bit taller.
Click Here Click Here Click Here Durant looks pretty much 6'9" compared to Thompson's measurement, maybe a fraction over. He does look at least Rob's listing compared to Green, but it's probably more likely Green was measured early. Either way, I don't see much evidence he's even a full 6'10", much less 6'10.75" like he claimed.

Canson said on 27/Nov/18
@Junior: that and the fact that Blake is not anything close to his pre draft at a low without the thick hair. There was concern that he would measure as low as 6’6” when he was drafted in fact. He’s sub 6’8” next to Deandre Jordan. It wouldn’t surprise me if he were something like 6’8.25-.5 (with help from his hair) and it’s been documented that it was minutes after he woke up. Griffin looks 6’7.5-.75 with Deandre Jordan and looks really no taller in the commercial with Kevin Love. Love looks more 6’7” than 6’8 in pics ( 6’7.25).

@Cycklops: he could still be a solid 6’9”. Thing is that people make him taller to make his accomplishments that much better as a scorer. Just like people accuse Barkley of downplaying his height when he does not in reality. He rounds down from about 6’4.5 to 6’4 (not sure if he is actually not closer to 6’4 in reality at a low). But to the Cousins comparison, Cousins is probably only 6’9” flat at a low too. His 6’9.5 was in the early morning when the president draft occurs.

Cycklops said on 20/Aug/18
One of the most annoying topics. He was measured predraft in 2007 in his socks at 6'9" even. He later claimed in an interview he was measured at 6'10.75". The NBA lists him at 6'9". He's listed here at 6'9.5". In 2009 he was dead-even in height on the sophomore All-Star team with 6'9" measured Dwight Howard. In 2016 he was dead-even with 6'9.5" DeMarcus Cousins.
As annoying as it is to go with the site's listing, I will agree that he was drafted at 6'9" (6'10.25" in socks) and is now 6'9.5", or 6'10.75" in shoes.

@Yusuf: yep and the Rock says he’s 6’5 when he’s 6’2”. Durant was obviously joking. He’s maybe 6’10.75 in 1.25” basketball shoes if even that. A lot of guys throw the 3/4” on to make their height claim more convincing. Here he is with 6’6” Carmelo Anthony who I’ve met before. It’s just like with Charles Barkley’s case. People say he downplays his height because he was a small power forward. In reality, the 6’4-6’5 measurements he gets are his actual barefoot measurements while the rest of the league lists at a shoe height. Barkley is a little under 6’6 in shoes and Durant’s 6’9-6’9.5 is a barefoot height while his 6’10.75 claim may be a shoe height maybe even morning height in shoes. Claiming 6’11” for him or being 6’11” with the type of game he has sounds more impressive than being 6’9”. It’s opposite

@Joe: he looks 6’5” range almost always. Remember Danny Green measured in 08 in the afternoon at 6’4.5 and 09 6’5.25. He may have been 6’5 1/8 since they don’t so 1/8” increments but there’s max 2cm between Green and Leonard. Doesn’t even look a full inch imho. I’ll say Green may be 6’4.75 at a low now but Kawhi doesn’t look over 6’5.5 to be honest. Maybe even 6’5.25. The one who consistently looks shorter than his listing is Jimmy Butler. He looks a solid 6’5 most of the time not 6’6.25 and he’s listed at 6’8” now since he went to Minnesota (6’7” with the Bulls). For good measure, Viper has met Scott Van Pelt from ESPN who said he’s 6’6” and Viper confirmed that. I live in the DC area just like Viper and a buddy of mine used to golf with Van Pelt and said the same thing that he’s a legit 6’6” in person. Van Pelt has a pic with Andrew Wiggins who appears around the same as him. Now maybe he’s favored in that pic with Wiggins but Wiggins is noticeably taller than Butler and they’re both listed 6’8”. Butler looks 6’5 with he and with KAT as well as Taj Gibson

@Junior: that’s possible for Mailman 6’8 or 6’7.75.
@Warren: he’s very lanky which is why people think he’s taller than he is. That of course along with the fact that he uses his barefoot height, which may be even a bit over 6’9 that was rounded down and it is likely a low for him. I could agree with Rob’s previous listing 6’9.25 as a low for him. 6’9.5 is possible as well but either way we slice it, he’s 6’10 out of bed very easily

Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 19/May/18
@Canson If we keep in mind of that draft measurement taking between 6-7am in the morning therefore Durant would drop to mid range of 6'8 5/8 (204.78cm) at low. We could say that Durant is just lucky to grow just half inch and could be at his insane low at 6'9 1/8 (206cm). Remember we figure out Lebron absolute low maybe a flat 200cm and there is always 6cm we could see between Durant and Lebron not more. The focus point is all players who measure 6'9 were not legit 6'9 if we estimate them they will be 6'8.5-6'8.65" range depend did they atually
Busting a Gut for measurement gaining 1/4 or they honestly keep up a straight posture for measurements. If Lebron is not a single mm over 200cm i will throw a flat 206cm guess for Durant but ofcos this will not satisfied the fans and they will keep argue a 6'10 for Durant just because others players height were overlisted on the NBA official site that ruined the perception of real height of the few players who given an honest claimed height.
Canson said on 17/May/18
There is a good chance that Durant didn’t grow at all. He may have been the same height of just over 6’9” or strong 6’9 (6’9.25-.5) ever since he came in the league and they may have just listed 6’9” in his pre draft. To be fair he is closer to 6’9” than 6’10 most likely. But this is barefoot and the NBA measures and lists in shoes mostly rounded up as well and from a morning measurement. It’s a similar situation to a Charles Barkley. Barkley is 6’4 1/2 barefoot so they make a big deal about his height (barefoot) to where others say that he’s downplaying it. In reality, that’s just his barefoot height as opposed to someone like Karl Malone who is listed 6’9” and is really 6’8 (by his own admission) or perhaps even a hair under the mark like 6’7.75 being that won’t look any different from 6’8”. That’s about how he looks typically. So if you say that Barkley is 6’4.5 but Malone is 6’9” that will not add up. That’s why people assume that about Barkley. It’s the same for Kevin Durant. They try to “overplay” how tall he is because of his skill just like they do with Lebron. There isn’t as much merit to Lebron being the height they have said “6’9 260” as there is to Durant’s. Durant is always said to be 6’11” in NBA conversation on TV because he is 6’9 and change barefoot which makes him 6’10.5 in shoes. That’s where the 6’11” comes from. It’s the same with Draymond Green. Notice how Green is listed 6’7” but his coaches say he’s only 6’5? That 6’5 (likely 6’5-6’5.25) is barefoot and would be what he would measure in the afternoon as opposed to the morning. So that doesn’t add up? Draymond 6’5 but Durant 6’11? There is 4 or so inches between them not 6”. Draymond however is already an undersized power forward and even more so when he moves over to Center like he does in the playoffs each year for entire games. Durant is like Dirk Nowitzki in his prime a great shooter with even better skills when it comes to his ways to attack. Maybe not quite as good a shooter from deep however. So they make a bigger deal about his height as he has played some shooting guard during his career at 6’11 in shoes and 6’9” and change barefoot. But at least durant is in keeping with the rest of the league since almost everyone is listed at a “morning” shoe height which is rounded up most of the time where KD would be 6’11 in shoes at that stage.
But it works both ways
Barkley 6’4.5 (listed 6’6 on paper with shoe height rounded up)
Draymond 6’5-6’5.25 (6’5.75 morning which may even be closer to 6’5.5 given no 1/8” increments) but listed 6’7” on paper which is shoes rounded up
Durant 6’9-6’9.5 (listed 6’9 on paper but is said to be 6’11 to match him up with other NBA players’s inflation’s).
Barkley 6’6 (6’5.5-6’6” in sneakers) but 6’4.5 barefoot
Draymond 6’7 (6’6.5-6’7 in sneakers in the morning) but 6’5-6’5.25 barefoot in the afternoon
Durant 6’11 (6’10.5 in shoes) in NBA conversation and by theorists but 6’9-6’9.5 barefoot
It is all about which argument fits the player and their strengths and makes them sound more impressive. But facts are facts and their barefoot height is their actual height. Shoes aren’t part of your body so durant really is only 6’9” and change at best and Barkley 6’4 and change Draymond at best 6’5 and change

@Mike O Funny thing is 6'10 1/4 Chris Bosh standing side by side make Durant look like a flat 6'9 guy.

The confusion over Kevin Durant's listed height is a result of him being a late bloomer. He was around 6'2" for much of high school before hitting a growth spurt late and reaching 6'7". He continued to grow when he reached the University of Texas and his 6'9" listing was probably initially from that time. He was only 19 when he first entered the NBA and he probably pushed out another 1-2" since then. I'm guessing he's 6'10.5".
Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 15/May/18
@Canson But strange that Durant recently downplay 6'8-6'9 in an interview when being ask how tall he is that reminds me Kobe claim that he is probably 6'5 in sneakers and one time Shaq claim to Howard Stern he is 6'11. Not sure why they all downplaying it.

6'9" and change
Canson said on 4/May/18
@Junior: that could be right. I have him over flat 6’9 but probably not near 6’10. I agree more, in hindsight, with the 6’9.25 he initially was listed. He looks like he could be a strong 6’9” however. 6’9.5 isn’t out of the question either but I can safely rule out anything higher based on how he looks with Deandre Jordan
Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 3/May/18
@Canson I would have just say Durant could be a guy holding a solid 206.5cm at his low since Yi is more like a strong 6'10.75" looks it next to 6'9 Dwight Howard.
Canson said on 23/Apr/18
@Junior: agreed! Not less than a strong 6’9” but probably not a full 6’10 or even above 207
Canson said on 22/Apr/18
@Viper: Durant doesn’t look 1.5” shorter than LA. That looks less than an inch to be honest. I can buy Durant having grown, albeit a tiny fraction, and being 6’9” and change. He is not 6’10 however. His 6’11” is just like a 6’4 1/2
Michael Jordan being listed 6’6”. It’s a shoe height rounded up a bit. He may be rounded up more than MJ however
Junior Hernandez 1990 said on 21/Apr/18
I remember in 2011 Durant look 1.5" shorter than a 6'11 drafted Yi Jianlian when they're participant from some basketball event or something. Yi is probably a strong 6'10 3/4 guy at his low if 6'11 took in the morning. Now i'm not sure Durant could even measure 6'9.5" at lowest. But strange that he recent claim that he is 6'8-6'9 on a interview when get ask hi height. I wouldn't go below 6'9 1/4 for him.
Canson said on 20/Apr/18
@Viper: he may have been 6’9” range when drafted but I completely agree that he is 6’10” now. I know that Andrew Wiggins did not attend the pre draft and was supposedly 6’7” barefoot. However, he looked the same height as Scott Van Pelt next to him. Now that was a bad angle but he’s not a whole lot taller if he is. It would still put Wiggins sub 6’7” possibly.
Jimmy Butler is way off!!! He was listed 6’7” with the Bulls and was boosted up to 6’8” this year. He shows a 6’6” measurement at the combine but next to Derrick Rose or Scottie Pippen or even Joakim Noah, he looks 6’5.5 max. 6’6” would be a morning height however and it’s possible he had reached his full height by then. Wiggins is taller than Butler, as well.
viper said on 19/Apr/18
Durant really only looks 6-8.5-6-9 next to 6-10 Lamarcus Alridge.
viper said on 18/Apr/18
Canson, I swear back in the day a David Robinson basketball card had him listed at 6-11.
It reminds me how no site on the internet has Jose Canseco at 6-3, yet he was listed as that on all his cards
viper said on 18/Apr/18
I'm watching the Timberwolves and Towns looks a good 6-10 physically, yet some think he's shorter because of some pics. Heck he physically looks taller than 6-9 Durant to me.

Canson said on 14/Apr/18
@Viper: youre wrong to a degree. that wasn’t a morning measurement for Durant in 2007. It was an afternoon height for him. It said that it went from afternoon to morning going from 2008 to 2009 combines. Brandon Roy was drafted a year ahead of Durant in 06 and he looked his pre draft height in person (no worse than maybe 1/8” below it). But as far as proof of him growing there is none, so you are correct. There is a possibility he did grow though but not to 6’10. The other possibility is that he was 6’9” and change then and that they just didn’t bother with the fraction. I know with Jason Maxiell he shows 6’5” on his pre draft but when he measured overseas for a different league (6’5 and under ironically) he was 6’5 11/16 at 1 PM and wasn’t given the benefit of the doubt. He was cut because he was too tall. I know his cousin who says he’s about 6’5 1/2. So either he grew or wasn’t listed all the way to the fraction. I know other players on his Pistons teams said he was 6’5/6’6 too when he played there
viper said on 13/Apr/18
Do we really have any solid proof he grew any from his flat 6-9 measurement. And was that a morning measurement.
He's just a long looking guy that physically looks taller than he is like Snoop Dogg

KD is actually 7 feet. 6'9 is the listed NBA height lol
Canson said on 12/Apr/18
@Duhon: that’s not the best picture to compare because Durant is closer to the camera than DJ but I posted some last summer where they were on the Olympic team and Jordan was only slightly taller like 1/2” or a cm. So I agree with you it is not a full inch. If DJ is 6’9.75, KD is likely 6’9-6’9.5 range meaning he’s a stronger 6’9” than a flat one. He would be 6’10 or higher out of bed since 2007 was an afternoon combine
Christian-6'5 3/8 said on 12/Apr/18
@Viper
6'8.75" seems too low for Durant.
Canson said on 11/Apr/18
6’9 would likely be an extreme low because of how tall he is and how much someone his size would have the propensity to lose in a day. But He could measure earlier in the day at this mark even around midday possibly still and be over 6’10 out of bed. But 6’10.75 is in shoes around the time he’d measure 6’9.5 barefoot. 6’9.25 is likely a normal low for him

Yet some think he's 7-0!!!
Canson said on 10/Apr/18
@Viper: I’d say he’s over 6’9”. DJ doesn’t appear to be an inch taller than him they’re maybe 1/2” or a cm at times. DJ May have grown to 6’10 but I see with KG he still looks a good 1-1.5 shorter don’t think he grew. Durant looks 6’9-6’9.5 range. Looks close to 207 honestly maybe 1/4” is right but it’s better than someone saying he’s 6’10 or more
Canson said on 9/Apr/18
@Viper: yes the truth! But some don’t want to believe the truth for some reason. They make a big deal about his height or him being taller than he is to make what he does sound better is what it is. Being a big 2/3 in OKC when he was. He’s simply using his barefoot height and maybe he is 6’9-6’9.5. But he’s underlisted bexause others are listed in shoes and then some. Just like with Charles Barkley people say he undersells himself when he doesn’t. He just claims his barefoot height and others do too for him because then era he played in (early part of it) there was less inflation than today (with him being an exception).
Viper said on 9/Apr/18
I honestly could buy 6-8.75 for Durant looking a full inch shorter than 6-9.75 Jordan at the foul line. It was obvious
Canson said on 8/Apr/18
@Viper: he doesn’t look 6’8” barefoot and it’s rare that a NBA player is that height they’re listed at. He doesn’t have an official measurement on paper either. All I saw was when he was drafted they listed his height in shoes most likely as Most of the others back then were. Hill looks 6’7” barefoot with other players. He’s not any taller (noticably) than TMac. If anything maybe 1/2” which makes sense as TMAC from what most say that I know (I know a relative of his actually that is friends with one of my friends) TMAC is 6’6/6’7 which ironically I’ve seen 6’6.5 for him and that’s how he looks with Vince Carter who i also doubt is 6’5.5. Carter isn’t as tall as a peak Dr J was or with Hakeem Olajuwon. Carter was said by Richard Jefferson to be “6’4 1/2, maybe 6’5 on a good day”. I think closer to 6’5 tho as KROC also has posted where he met him in his Vinsanity days and he looked a full 6’5” but no higher. Carter is the same as Mourning in regards to only having one measurement. Not a barefoot and inshoes. Mourning ironically measured 6’8” and was listed 6’9.5 in the article posted in college and the same height when he became a pro. Likely he did not grow and is still the same height that he admitted he was
Canson said on 8/Apr/18
It’s funny how everyone is saying his height is false or he didn’t measure it etc. why is it that nobody says that about Dwayne Wade or others who aren’t as tall as they are listed and instead inflate KD. Common sense here look at him wth Draymond Green who Coach Steve Kerr and Coach Alvin Gentry said is 6’5” not 6’5.75 like his pre draft (likely a morning height maybe even rounded up) KD is at most 4-4.25” taller. So if his pre draft is 6’9 flat he’s not over 6’9.5 today tops meaning maybe he grew 1/2” but no more if even that.
viper said on 8/Apr/18
The NBA wouldn't overlist a guy by a full inch lol.
He's clearly shorter than 6-9.75 DeAndre Jordan when they play together. I looked at them closely when they were standing at the foul line together. Durant looked 6-9 MAX next to him. He didn't even look 6-9.5
Thunderfin said on 7/Apr/18
Rob, this height is false. Time for an update. Durant literally said himself he's much taller than his 6'9'' listed height:

So the 6-8 for Grant Hill could be an in shoe height?
Canson said on 5/Apr/18
@Viper: Zo has a 6’9.5 measurement but there is no in shoe only a barefoot (that likely is a shoe height and he was told he was actually 6’8” in the article I posted despite measuring the exact same as his pre draft in his freshman year in college) I doubt he grew and it’s hard to believe next to Ewing or Dell Curry or LJ. I’ve never met Ewing but have met LJ and Curry both. I stood right next to Curry and talked to him at RDU airport in 2002. He’s abkut an inch shorter than me maybe a little less because he looked about 1” taller or so than my 6’2.5 cousin who stood next to him. I would put Curry in the 192cm range. The max maybe 6’3.75 and possible I just had a slight footwear advantage on him. LJ when I met him Looked about 1” taller than me. And I saw a pic where a buddy of mine that is the same size with Christian 6’5 3/8 met him and they were identical. He even said the same. My buddy is about 6’5 1/4 at his low When we measured him even recently and even was 196 flat at night after being on his feet. Hes 6’6 out of bed on the nose according to him. I presume Lj is the same height. NBA didn’t do 1/8” increments or even 1/4” in 1991 when he was drafted so it’s even possible he’s only 196 but I’ll give him 6’5.25. Next to them or to any others even rodman Mourning looks 6’8” with them. We could argue 6’8.25 maybe but Mourning himself admitted he’s only 6’8 in the articles I posted
viper said on 2/Apr/18
Wasn't Mourning measured at 6-8.75? I guess I can buy 6-8 and change. Never seen him up close.
Grant Hill is the one I'm a bit perplexed. Met him at age 13. My 6-0 dad interviewed him so I could get a bit of a guage. Honestly, a full 6-8 where the paper said he measured may be a bit hard to buy.
Frost said on 2/Apr/18

Canson said on 28/Mar/18
@Viper: also wanna add that Larry Johnson at most times looked 3” shorter than him. I’ve met LJ in person and at most he’s an inch taller than I am 2-3 cm. 6’5 and change (6’5.25) maybe not a full 6’5.5 but that’s expected because they didn’t do 1/4” increments in the NBA let alone 1:8 which they have never done even today not to mention LJ admitted he’s 6’5”

@Viper: want your opinion because you may know. have you ever met Alonzo Mourning or know anyone who has? I never have but I do know a couple (1 not so well) that have gone to school at GT when Ewing was there and they said he’s at most 6’10”. I brought this up a while back the Zo is only 6’8 (quite possibly 6’8 and change). Zo admitted this. This was here on this site. Tell me what you think with 7’1 Dikembe Mutombo and Ewing who is 6’9/6’10. Him being listed 6’9.5 is a shoe height at best may just be 6’9 or 6’9.25 in them really but is also the reason why so many people here are overlisted. I mean 6’9.5 is still underlisted for a center and they would at least put him 6’11 if he were really that height barefoot

@Jason: that’s arguable in many cases because of how he looks but he’s shorter than Deandre Jordan. I think with him it’s more how the NBA overlists than him under but I can agree he’s likely not only a flat 6’9. Maybe 6’9.25

Where most players are listed a bit higher than their actual heights, Durant seems to be the opposite. He is said to be closer to 6’11, but downgraded to 6’9 so he has a better impression of the small forward position.
