I think she is 5’7.5”. Look at her with Hanks, with her three inch heels on, only bringing her up to around 5’10.5”. Like Diaz though, Roberts is probably more likely 5’7.75” than 5’7.25”. Both are noticeably over 5’7” but the full 5’8”? I can’t sign off on that.

At around 1:45 below, 5'9" Don Johnson is leaning and still looks over an inch taller than Roberts. He may have been wearing lifts, but she would have been wearing heels.

I met her once. I'm 6'2"(1.87m) and my girlfriend is a real 5'10"(1.78m) and Julia was in flat shoes and had the same height like my girlfriend.

I watched Cameron Diaz in 'The Box' the other night and I couldn't get over how tall she is - shoeless. I'd say she has 1.75"-2" on Julia.
Julia can have 5ft7.5. I used to think she was 5ft11 back in her 'Pretty Woman' days! My favourite of her films is the powerful 'Sleeping With The Enemy'.

I consistently see Julia looking around the 5"6 mark. She can look taller when in the high heels but most of the time when she's with tall women, she looks much shorter. There are a few times on Ellen where she is the same height as Ellen D. who I think is around the 168cm height. It was the film 'Sleeping with the Enemy' which showed me that Julia can look absolutely tiny! I mean, seriously everybody, I thought in 'Pretty Woman' that she was 5ft11!
Yet here I have before me the opening scenes of the first film mentioned, where in the opening scene, Julia goes to a party with her tall husband and looks quite average-heighted for a woman, and then, back at the beach house with her brutal, controlling monster of a husband, who towers over her, she could pass for a tiny-boned 5ft5 woman, completely helpless next to the beastly monster!
I'm going to have to find out who plays her husband, for he must be very tall indeed, but first I am going to lower my original guess for Julia from my February comment, which was 5ft8. This time I am going for 5ft7.5. Having just read my last comment, which was prompted by an article I read in 'The Enquirer', I would like to end this comment nearly ten months later by adding that I sincerely hope Julia is in a much happier place now.

The fact that Kiefer isn't much taller than 5'8" himself is one thing that makes Julia at 5'8" a bit of a stretch, imo. Without looking at her that much, I think 5'7.5"-5'7.75" range is likely.

Many of us have been there and can identify with the problem. I hope she loses it soon and finds someone who makes her happy. Her family have been through enough in the past years.

Besides, for some women 5'10" is still an attractive height. A lot of supermodels, like Adriana Lima or Tyra Banks, have this height. So I imagine that being statuesque like a model is appealing for some women.
I think that being tall for women only becomes problematic if it means being taller than their husband or boyfriend. But if that is not the case, I think that most of them are fine with it.

on this site all the females celebrities that are over 5'7 seem to just have tons of comments of people saying they are like 5'5 -_- like not every single celebrity OR WOMEN for that matter is between 5'2-5'5. there are many ways to make people appear taller or shorter in movies & on the red carpet, but if someone says they are 5'9 or inbetween that then clearly that is their height yes some people may just round up a bit if they are like 5'8 1/2 to 5'9 but its not really much of a difference but im sure if she was like 5'6! she wouldnt be claiming 5'9 because clearly people would tell her shes not that tall my goodness

I really don't think she'd lie about her height, so I'm guessing she's right when she says she's 5'8 or 5'9. Most biographies claim her to be 5'9, so this "5'7" talk is out of the question. I don't think they could all be wrong. Look at her in Pretty Woman - she's tall.

In october 2008 she was in the Oprah show and Oprah looked the same height - or almost - as her. And the presenter is supposed to be 1,68. So I doubt Julia is taller than 1,73 (Sandra Bullock was also in the show also and the three of them looked exactly the same - and they had heels which looked the same height).

If Franco is right about the Osteoporosis theory, I think it might be time to give her a peak height and current height listing on this page to justify the change. I believe she was 5'8"-5'9" in her prime (we're talking 10-15 years ago), but judging from the overwhelming number of eye witness accounts, she really can't be much more than 5'6", 5'7" tops now.

I think she is 5Ft 9" tall. I gather this from seeing her alongside different actors and how her height changs depending on heels. As i am myself 5ft 9, i know how i can appear average height when in flats to VERY tall for a woman at 6ft. As for the leg comment, it could be true but that is Very long. Julia used to live in my neighborhood and I saw aher on the street several times. I can't say her exact height of course, but she did not look tall to me, just average, and in flat shoes. A friend of mine worked with her and commented on how much shorter she was in person and how she looks tall on the screen. I'd agree with comments toward the bottom of this page, 5'6.

Maybe when you saw her before, your perception was clouded by what you'be always been told, know what I mean? We're always told she's 5'8" or so, so maybe it clouds our perceptions? Maybe you've become more critical since this sight and are looking at people more closely? Just a suggestion why she might seem shorter now. Do you find yourself scrutizinizing people's heights more now then in the past? Just curious.

I just saw the play Three days of Rain in very good seats. She is barefoot in the second act and standing in front of Paul Rudd (not a tall guy)there is a big difference. Her legs (from knees to feet) are so skinny like two matchsticks. Also, outside the theater, I wait for her in the very first row and she was with heels. Then, she seamed tall but standing in front of me (I am 1.70) there wasnt any difference.

She had to look shorter than her normal self so she won't look towering over Matt Damon, George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Don Chead who had to wear character role shoes (normal 1" heels) instead of lifts. But, if you ever get the chance to scope them out yourself (try teh Ivy or Robertson Blvd. in L.A.) you will find that all are 2-3" shorter in person. That never seems to take away from their poise and beauty, though. It's a total rush to see their actual stats etc. Oh, and their usually skinny to gaunt.

I see we all think Julia is shorter than 5'8" but she stands solidly as tall as Cameron Diaz in My Best Friend's Wedding; and there are several pics abuout it, just check wireimage and gettyimages.

Since I have nothing else to do but read People Magazine, there is a picture in their Startrack section of Paul McCartney, Julia Roberts, and Paul Newman. Either one or all three have been clearly lying. Rob, see if you can find this, so we can decide!

In the museum scene where Catherine stops Julia to ask for an autograph in Ocean's Twelve, 5'7" Catherine Zeta Jones stands solidly as tall as Julia. I was reading a magazine and there was a photo of her with 5'5" Jennifer Aniston, and she only appeared 2 inches taller. Add the comment Justmatt says about her and Brad Pitt. I wonder why is it 5'7" Julia Stiles seems to be the same height as her in Mona Lisa Smile. Also she's now where near 4 inches taller than 5'5" Susan Surandon. Your 5ft 9in claim isn't fooling me Julia Roberts.

I think for woman to grow into her early 20s is extremely unlikely, most girls stop growing at around the age of 15, so the likelyhood of growth plates still being open for a female are extremely unlikely. On the other hand, many males still grow into their 20s, albeit by a few cms tops. I also recall watching an episode of the Late Late Show, where a 5'10" female guest said that she grew her last inch at 21, so I guess it is possible. She also marvelled at Craig Kilborn's height and the fact that she was still much shorter than he in heals.

When comparing men's heights with women, do note that a standard heal on a woman's shoe is different from that of a man's shoe. Most women's shoes have atleast a 1.5 inch heal, while a man's shoe is usually around .5 of an inch...women often wear shoes with atleast a 2 inch heal. So unless Julia Roberts is barefoot in a scene with Andy Garcia or George Clooney, it truely must be her shoes. In Erin Brokovich she is ALMOST ALWAYS IN HEALS, I wouldn't be suprised one bit if she was the type of person whom in person wouldn't be as tall as she seams on screen.

I actually did get her height fom an article at 177cm, so either the editor was wrong.. but I think no more than 1.75m
