Could give a very tall impression because he’s so thin.
6ft range today is likely but peak looked no less than 6ft1, could have been 186cm range. I’ve read 6ft2 for him as well

Editor RobHe might be rounding his height up, but at his thinnest, maybe he really was under 140 lbs.

Okay, movie directors on Celebrity Heights, which I have always considered a little odd, since they don't derive their status from their physical bodies. But John Waters? This man is not David Lean or Stanley Kubrick. I have seen a John Waters movie, but I'm glad my Mom never found out.

Just passed him on the street recently. I'm somewhere between 6'1" and 6'2", and he seemed just about level with me, so I think 6'1" might still be accurate for him.

I have met him. Amazing guy. He looks tall because he is so skinny, however I think he is closer to 5'10 than 6'1 and should be downgraded. I would say 5'11 max.

I met John Waters at a book signing in Boston about three years ago. I am 6'3 and I had to look down on him. I would say he is about 5'10-5'11
