Yeah he's a solid 6'4'' or 6'4.75'' perhaps. Just watched Death Rides a Horse he had at least 2 inches on Lee Van Cliff and Cliff is tall himself at solid 6'2.25'' tall. So it isn't impossible for John to be 6'4.5'' or 6'4.75'' in his prime.

Yeah I have Caine pegged at 187cm solid, maybe a weak 188cm at a push...not a solid 6ft2
Arch Stanton said on 2/Nov/20
Yeah Rampage, he made Law look 6'4 and change if anything. I still think 187 peak for Caine is more accurate though.

He made Caine look closer to 6ft1

Michael Caine was 6'1" and Law was 6'4".

Every bit of 6'4, if not a tad more in Hurry Sundown, in some scenes made Caine look 186. Superb build too, not an ounce of fat on him.

I meant more rugged from a strictly physical standpoint. My opinion was that Delon was almost feminine in his prettiness whereas Law had the look of a square-jawed, lanky male model type. As an actor, I'd agree Law was quite wooden. He was bit likable as Sinbad I thought but lacked the charisma and presence of true great stars or the best action leads. Delon was a lot more appealing and a better actor in his best roles like Le Samurai or Purple Noon.

Yeah, I asserted on the original page that he looked in the 6'4"-6'5" range...I thought 6'5" was a bit much although my impression from him next to Lee Van Cleef was that Law might have had an edge on Clint if they stood next to each other.
The height difference between Law and Cleef and Eastwood and Cleef looked the same to me. Cleef managed to look 6'2.5 next to both.

Law did appear exceptionally tall in 'Death Rides a Horse'. Edged out Van Cleef and dominated every frame he was in. Entertaining, albeit quite ruthless film, that one.

Good looking, albeit wooden film actor. Despite his limited range, he was perfect in his role as Bill Mecita in the criminally underrated 1967 Spaghetti Western, DEATH RIDES A HORSE. Director Giulio Petroni knew what he was doing when he cast Law--physically, he is reminiscent of a young Eastwood. "
Wooden yes, and resembled Eastwood from a distance with the height and chiselled facial features. But he really did not have the presence and look badass enough for Death Rides a Horse. Sam said about him being more rugged than Alain Delon, but in all honesty I thought Delon was edgier and more believeable in a lot of his films like Purple Noon and Le Samourai than Law ever was.

Director Giulio Petroni knew what he was doing when he cast Law--physically, he is reminiscent of a young Eastwood. There are several scenes in the film where Law stands side-by-side or face-to-face with strong 6'2" Lee Van Cleef--who was then a hot commodity following the successes of Leone's final two DOLLARS entries. Law had two inches and perhaps a bit of change on Van Cleef--and both men wore cowboy boots with the standard 1 1/2" - 2" heel. Poster Sam hit upon this, and I just want to extend on the point a bit: the proportions between Law and Lee Van Cleef, when compared to side-by-side shots of Van Cleef with Eastwood in the DOLLARS films are virtually identical, and like Sam, I wouldn't be surprised if Law was a strong 6'4"/weak 6'5", though I would definitely lean more in the direction of the former. In his prime, Law was an easy 6'4."
P.S.--He later starred in a cute little television ad for Midas Muffler (late 70s/early 80s) alongside his old DRAH partner, Lee Van Cleef, in which the men riff their old Western gunslinger characters. Should still be available on YouTube.

Really Sam, I think they look strikingly similar
Click Here I agree though that Law looked the more rugged and chiselled looking of the two though.

IMO, Law has more of a square-jawed action guy face, Delon had a face that could be the dictionary picture for "pretty boy". Law was kind of a pretty looking man in his own right, I think he looked much better, more interesting with the well-kept beard in Sinbad. To me, character actor Everett McGill could have played a more homely, villainous-looking relative of Law's.

He looks quite a lot like Alain Delon facially doesn't he Sam? Even in older age he looked a lot like Delon does now!
Sam said on 19/Jun/15
Up against 6'3" listed Tom Baker in The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, Law certainly doesn't look any more than an inch taller, sometimes the difference can seem less.

his name was misspelled, this is the corrected version.

5 ft 10 for Alan Arkin is questionable IMO.

Rob can you replace Skidoo with The Love Machine, and also
add Tarzan, the Ape Man?
