John lived from the 12th August, 1935 until the morning of the 13th March, 1978. He was only 42 and died of lung cancer. 🥲
The poor guy, who started his acting career as a theatre actor, didn’t even live long enough to see his last film, the multi award-winning The Deer Hunter.

I hope he’s able to see us from wheresoever he is still enjoying his films.

I’ve been watching the first two Godfather movies on Film 4 over the past two nights and I’ve discovered that John Cazale died at a tragically early age. He was married to Meryl Streep, and I found out while reading up on him last night that he didn’t even reach the age of 43.

The poor fellow never grew old enough to lose height. I believe it was cancer that John died of. I’ll be back later with his dates and, if I’ve made any errors, I’ll be putting them right.

5ft10.75. He was definitely the tallest of the Corleone brothers.

I actually think more 178 cm or just a solid 5'10". Still might make him the tallest of the Godfather stars barefoot.

Rob's spot on i think, Cazale just edged De Niro in The Deer Hunter and Walken had roughly 2 inches on him, a strong 5'10" is pretty accurate.

You might as well list all of his movies, because there was only a few and they were all great ones: "American actor best remembered for The Godfather Parts I and II, The Conservation, Dog Day Afternoon and The Deer Hunter."
Just realized he looks strikingly like an Italian version of Conrad Veidt. I thought he could pass for 5'11", looked easily 5 inches (or more) over Al Pacino.

Looked slightly taller than Duvall who was a solid 5'9 at peak. I say this listing is pretty accurate.

I think if you get bone cancer, you could get shorter as well but I am not totally sure on this.

At the begening of The Deer Hunter, we see Cazale next to De Niro and he is slighty taller than De Niro. In other shots he looks like 1.5 inches taller than De Niro. My guess is that he was 5 ft 11.

Well maybe but you have to remember than he died of bone cancer and that disease makes you shrink. But he is alot taller than Pacino

I would have pegged him at around 5'9"... his character in the Godfather is very frail and thin... i envisioned him closer to pacino than the 6' barrier...
